What a huge disappointment this place was. We had heard good things about the Hong Kong garden and after $48.00 for lunch which consisted of two individual meals, his was egg roll pork fried rice sweet and sour chicken mine was lo Mein with sweet and sour chicken It was tasteless, lacking salt/soy sauce. Everything tasted the same. I will say the veggies in the lo mein were fresh. Only positive thing I can say . Anyone that claims this place is even edible has never had the pleasure of eating good Chinese. Save your money and avoid this place. The dinner was suppose to come with soup, they clearly state you will not get soup if you take your order to go! Rude! I asked if I could please have my soup as I was waiting for the order and I was told "absolutely not" Never again, too many good Chinese places to even consider this mediocre place at best. read more

I love this vintage Chinese style restaurant. The service was as great as the food and the cocktails(chefs kiss). The family meal option is a TON of food so be prepared for leftovers. Don't know what happened tonight with their food, but it was definitely not the normal and not worth what we spent! We had a take out order and my husband and I will not order or dine in again. Not sure if they had a new chef but nothing tasted good! No flavor, the batter for the deep fried items was hard. The chow mein was tasteless and had the chicken in big pieces laying on top. We've been loyal customers here in the past and used to recommend this restaurant to friends after our first few wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, the last two orders have been incredibly disappointing. Back in January, we placed a large order for six people and were missing nearly half of it: six soups, six gyoza, two egg rolls, all the honey walnut shrimp, and all the Mongolian beef. Upon realizing this, I called and spoke with Angela at 4:15 PM that day, and she promised they would make it right on our next order. Tonight, I gave them that chance. We ordered the $28.50 meal for TWO and were given a portion just enough for one person. When I mentioned the prior issue, the woman who answered the phone laughed at me and said it wasn't her I spoke with last time, so I needed to talk to someone else. Basically, "Not her problem." As a former small business owner, I take reviewing seriously. Mistakes happen, and I gave them grace once, but the way this was handled shows a complete lack of customer care and accountability. I won't be making the mistake of ordering here again. Save your money; there are far better places that respect their customers and stand behind their service. read more

We started going there after the Puyallup House of Kee closed.... we heard the Tacoma Hong Kong restaurant was really good. We now are loyal regulars there. When I went to pay it was 21.01.i order from there because I can't eat it all at once and they used to package everything separately. The menu said it came with fried rice. So disappointed. On top of that, they force you to order from their "dinner combos" and won't let you customize anything. If you want something specific like orange chicken, you have to buy it separately for $18, and then they charge another $10 just for a side of fried rice. This little cozy gem of a restaurant not only has the best tasting food, the customer service was awesome and inviting. The parking is okay. It can't be a bit cramped on a busy day. The restroom was very clean and the dining area was situated very nicely as well. The food is packed very nicely and the portions are very generous. Orange chicken and steamed rice are my go-to. It was authentically delicious. It can be a little on the sweet since once you taste the pan drippings from the meat but it was awesome. My husband with with the chop suey. Nancy gave us such excellent customer service. She knew there were two types of chop suey and she took the time out to make sure that my husband knew what he was ordering. This is probably my favorite place to go for takeout in Tacoma. The wonton soup and pork fried rice are my favorites! They have very large portions which are great for sharing or having left overs for the next day. My family and I went there after shopping at Saars in Parkland because I was hungry for some egg drop soup and it was the worse decision we made. Spent $100 for some egg drop soup. Fried rice, chow mein, prawns in lobster sauce and beef tomato & peppers. Everything was lacking in flavor, thank god for hot mustard to add some flavor for our lackluster noodles and for our tea which I was grateful for. But our whole meal was a waste of money and time. Growing up in Hawaii where we have some great Chinese food this one is far less superior to what we're used to too. Just our opinion. I went home and the next day spent cooking my own egg drop soup which was great according to my family.
