Well.... I finally tried here. Ambiance is chaotic. Service is great. Everyone is sweet and helpful. Food is meh. When it's freshly made and served, good. The serving spoon and tongs are dirty. Some are missing. Long line both outside and inside. Price is cheap as buffet. Sushi was ok - rice was ok - not dry. I am disappointed by dim-sum. Just red bean buns and pork buns and chicken feet. Very wholesome spread - we enjoyed it very much! Everyone will find something for themselves. While they call themselves an Asian buffet place, there was enough American food for any picky eaters. My five year old had a blast tasting everything. He ate several helpings and cleaned every single plate. Things we ate and recommend trying - 1. Sushi - very good variety, enjoyed most of the rolls. 2. Baked Clams - Mwaah! so good - this would be my favorite! 3. Soup and noodles from the live station - turned out very flavorful. 4. Many variety of deserts but the Creme Brelee was particularly good. 5. Kids will love the chocolate mountain with marshmallows. 6. Lots of variety of fish, pasta, and chicken dishes - all tasted very good. This buffet is a steal for the weekend prices compared to other places and for the amazing spread they offer. I was visiting a friend in Tacoma and got hungry, so I thought, "Why not stop by Harvest Buffet?" It's honestly one of my favorite Chinese buffets in the area. We came on the 30th for lunch and found out they're serving dinner all day during the last week of December--such a nice surprise! I went with family, and everything looked super fresh. I loaded up my plate with baby crab, sushi (eel and California rolls), crispy fish skins, fresh prawns for the Mongolian grill, beef brisket noodle soup, salt and pepper ribs, caramelized plantains, and some dim sum classics like chicken feet, siu mai, and dumplings. Considering it's a buffet, the salmon nigiri and sashimi were pretty fresh. But outside of the sushi I was left a bit unimpressed. The food was good, the place was nice. A bit loud, but it's a pretty open space. They have a wide variety of food but it's mainly Asian or American cuisine. The clean up crew comes by pretty regularly to clear out plates. However in our most recent visit, we went to the Good Will next door after. My dad had to go to the bathroom. The Good Will has no bathroom so my dad went back there to use their bathroom since we knew they had one. They said he couldn't use it because we already left the restaurant. This is another comfort, go-to, and staple buffet spot in the Tacoma area. My family ALWAYS goes to this place, and it is one of the best buffets in Washington that we have tried! The lines tend to get pretty long and busy, especially on the weekends - but the wait is worth it, and it goes by faster than you expect it. I put my steak on my plate first and I covered it with soft shell crab, shrimps, a whole bunch of steamed clams, eggplant, bbq short rib, everything aforementioned was excellent but the beautiful sauce that formed in the bottom of my plate and marinated that steak made for the most delicious post Meal steak I have ever had. I rate this place ten out of five stars and thought it was delicious. Meesh gives it five stars as well. Forgive me, but I don't quite understand the hype. I visited this buffet today, and while the establishment itself is very large and visually appealing, the buffet area felt narrow and cramped. The food presentation looked promising, but unfortunately the quality did not match the appearance. I gave it a fair shot and tried several different items to make sure it wasn't just one dish, but the overall experience was consistently disappointing. The meats seemed like odds and ends--very tough, overcooked, and lacking quality. Many items relied heavily on basic seasoning, but even then, the flavors fell flat. One of my bigger concerns was food temperature. Some of the hot plates were cold to the touch, not even room temperature, which was concerning. On top of that, the air conditioning was blowing very directly; by the time I returned to my table, the food had already gone cold. I'm not a picky eater and usually enjoy most places I visit, but this was a miss for me. With improvements to food quality, seasoning, and temperature control, this place could be much better. This is where I go to eat unlimited shrimp w head on, baked mussels, and soft shell crab (only offered at dinner). Their soups are always good too. They ran out of my favorite baked mussels and I didn't think they'd refill it because it was almost closing time. When I asked, the nice guy behind the counter put out a whole tray! Overall, the Asian food is good. They hose down the place after hours. Literally. See photos. Cons: Don't bother going on Friday-Sunday nights. The place is always packed and the crowd outside can be rough around the edges! The location is questionable and there are always sketch people hanging around. I went here for my birthday because it's cheap, variety (we had friends with us who wanted variety), and closes pretty late-ish. The service was great, the place seemed clean. Obviously going to a buffet, it's not the most high quality food but for the stuff they had we really did enjoy it. The honey walnut shrimp was really good, the crepe was good a the roast pork was amazing. We ate some nigiri's as well. This buffet reminds me of those Las Vegas $10 buffets in the late 90s/early 2000s - which I loved. Large selections for everyone. There is plenty of choices. Price is affordable. A couple things I didn't like... 1) scallops were fake, made with cheap fish; they weren't scallops. 2) sushi had very thin pieces of fish... mostly filler items in the sushi selections. Most items were very fresh but a few things tasted like they had been out a while. Fresh food far surpassed the older items. One of my favorite items was surprisingly the baby bok choy dish. I think they called it "garden vegetables." Delicious. I didnt try it, but theres a Mongolian grill where you pick out everything yourself and the chef cooks it for you. Perfect for diners to get exactly what they want. The place is huge. Max capacity at 545. The servers kept dirty dishes cleared and tables cleaned promptly after left. The buffet was clean and people attending to it constantly. No messes or anything dirty. I got a couple desserts and those were tasty. They have lots of dessert options in addition to the standard buffets like multiple cold-pack ice cream, chocolate fountain, and even cotton candy machine. I would definitely return. Desserts were decent as the ice cream has a good selection but every other dessert was either super dry or overly sweet. The service was excellent as bussers were always consistent bussing plates immediately once our table was finished with eating. Overall ambiance is a typical AYCE buffet environment - loud, lots of families, and packed. Not sure why people brought in a jello plate into the restroom... Outside you'll notice that it's a huge parking lot but it is completely filled up during peak hours. This is definitely the better buffet in the area when you don't want to go far. The prices are pretty fair for lunch and dinner as they do have a great senior price as my grandma goes here every week with family and friends. I enjoy their offerings for both lunch and dinner, just know you get more seafood options during dinner. The sushi here is decent quality for a buffet but don't expect like premium or super fresh quality. The hibachi area is one of my favorites as I love being able to make my own chow mein as the one that is premade is just okay. They also offer chicken feet and braised pork feet which is not really common at buffets in Washington so those are my go tos. They also have a great dessert selection and the ice cream here is always so good and creamy without that taste of freezer burn. The staff here aren't the most friendly and they definitely seem like they don't enjoy their job but it's a buffet and luckily you don't need to interact with them too much. There is plenty of seating inside and I do feel iffy when we have to share a table with another party as we had the unfortunate experience of being right next to a baby who was wailing so loud that it was so distracting and the mom had no idea how to make her baby stop. Usually come here on the weekends when it's a little hellish with the crowds. this time I showed up for an early lunch and was really surprised. The food was kinda delicious. The brisket was the perfect amount of greasy and seasoned correctly, the fried fish was great with the tartar sauce, the Polska kielbasa was perfect with the crunchy skin and just the right amount of salty flavor, and that cheesy spinach was crazy good. The bad was a little runny because it was close to opening so I guess it firms up under the steam, but it was still good. The corn was sweet and the ice cream? How can you miss with ice cream. Their staff went out of their way to make great accommodations for my Mother and I, who are physically disabled. They personally catered to my Mother and I and made sure we were sufficiently taken care of. There weren't any unsanitary guests serving themselves or kids or people sneezing or coughing over or near the food. They have large entrees. Tender baked BarbQue'd Ribs. They got a Mongolian Grill section in there with fresh meat and vegetables there and grill infront of you with an enormous plethora of seafood selections to! I smashed on the Coconut Shrimp! Dam! Im going back in a couple of days! They have an amazing Soup and Desert Bar! And I was so impressed I had to give this objective 5 Star Review. And I dont know anyone that works there. Also, they keep all Buffet Bars, Floors, Tables, Dishes, and Silverware clean at all times. I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed. Maybe quasi overwhelmed a little but never disappointed!
