Kristine went above her duties. They took our SUV in the bay right away, we were traveling to NC when our SUV overheated. The mechanics discovered a cracked head. So, I looked within about a 25 mile radius of Flagler Beach to find a place I felt comfortable taking my car and Honest-1 Auto Care was the only one where customers had good things to say. And they were right. From the moment I walked in this place the atmosphere was welcoming. Kids play area on your right, free wifi and work stations, even down to the bathroom. Sounds strange but how would you expect the bathroom at the mechanic to be? Probably not great. Well this one looked like they had someone from HGTV come in and design it. Impeccably clean, hand activated trashcan, the whole 9 yards. Just shows their attention to detail. Now let's talk service. I was welcomed by Dennis who was friendly, honest and who did not pressure me in the least. He put the paperwork estimate together for my synthetic oil change and when I asked about any specials he said, "I already added two coupons to your service and we're going to get you out of here paying $49. $49?!? That's about $8 more than if I went out and bought the oil and got under the car myself. He also did a free check and asked me if I was aware of my check engine light. I said I was and that I had been told it was due to my catalytic converter needing replacement. Since I had been quoted about $1600 by another mechanic (and the car has 282,000 miles on it) I decided to pass. Well Dennis informed me that the catalytic conversion wasn't the issue at all. Instead I just needed to replace a fuel O2 sensor and that they could do it for under $400. He said it wasn't the end of the world if I didn't do it, but that it would just help with mileage and keeping my fuel intake from being too rich or too lean. So, I made a follow up appointment and I am getting it done today. Can't say enough good things about the service here and how these guys treat their customers. Just plain refreshing. read more

I am not totally sure how I feel about Honest-1 Auto Care right now. I most recently had my car serviced there. They were to put in a brand new starter and intake manifold gasket according to customer service adviser. However, according to 3 other mechanics,the starter was not brand new, but apparently re-manufactured. Also, they claim that it should have only taken 1.5 to 2.0 hours labor to install. I was charged for a brand new starter and for 3.5 hours labor instead. Prior to this, I have been somewhat pleased with Honest-1, but after this, I am not sure how to feel about their service. I know it is hard to find an honest mechanic nowadays and I hope that Honest-1 will want to do the right thing in resolving this issue. read more

Best auto repair place I have ever been. When they say HONEST they mean it. I went in for an oil change, tire rotation and front end alignment. After checking my car, Ben who is already the "Best" comes out and tells me "you don't need a front end alignment ". What mechanic does that, anywhere else they would have done it anyway. I have been several times, and hate to get my vehicle worked on, they make it a breeze. The waiting area is the cleanest I ever have been to, its a great experience. read more

Honest 1? More like DIShonest 1. I went here to have my AC looked at and they recharged the system and charged over a hundred dollars knowing there was a leak so it wouldn't hold a charge. Went back after a week because the air wasn't blowing cold and then they told me the compressor wasn't working and were trying to charge me about 1000 dollars to replace it. I went and got a second opinion and it turned out to be a hose that cost me about 300 dollars to replace. Pretty shady people. read more

Well like an idiot, i didn't do any research before i brought my H3 in for brakes (which i already had the pads). Since there are no manuals for this vehicle and i recently hurt my back ,i thought they would treat me like the last time i was in there, with Respect! They told me since i brought my own parts it would be $125.00 an hour with an estimated 3 hrs of labor. I couldn't believe it! It never took me laying on my back in my yard, more than a hour tops! I left there fast! Watched a youtube video , after taking off the front wheels, it took me 10, yes 10 minutes to do them total ( with a water break inbetween)! The backs took 20 minutes!!! 3hrs?!? Do some research before someone tries to take advantage of you!!! I recommended this place to friends, now i have to warn them that they are not so, 'Honest'! read more

Having my car serviced is very much like me seeing a doctor. My car is a huge investment and in order to keep it running to my satisfaction, I need a place that will give me top notch service and where I can trust that the experts will do what needs to be done without pressuring me to add on anything unnecessary (and expensive). Much like going to a doctor - don't tell me I need tests for things that are of no concern, but tell me the truth if there is a concern so we can work together to develop a long term plan to get me healthy. That is what this place is like. They are my car's doctor. They care enough about me and my car to establish long term care, which is more cost effective and efficient in my books. I left my window down and it rained. Honest-1 fixed it, which involved multiple things like an electrician, welder and mechanic, to fix, and they did so quickly. The hourly rate was quite a bit higher than I am used to paying. At Lucky's, another fair minded garage, I pay $75/hour. Paid $125/hour for the work done at Honest-1. That said, they did excellent work, except for one thing that seemed suspicious. Two days after the window control repair, my car overheated. Pulled over, called Lucky's for a tow. They told me the radiator hose had been loosened. The next day, Honest-1 called to ask if everything was working alright with my car. Probably just what it seemed, a courtesy call, but it seemed suspicious my radiator hose should just fall off a couple days after I had work done and then call to ask if I'm having any problems. Seemed perhaps a devious way to bring me back in for further service. We are poor people, which is obvious since we drive a 99 Honda Accord LX with a ruined paint job, and if this was sabotage, that was really despicable. Anyhow, when I get my car serviced at Lucky's, I don't have radiator hoses falling off a couple days later. They moved to Deland recently, but I plan to keep working with them. Made an appointment for the oil change and while I would have preferred booking the appointment originally instead of giving them two options, they did respond very quickly and were actually able to accommodate my first choice. They told me it could take 40 minutes but it only took about 20. Will use them again for oil changes for sure. read more

Typical tire place. I called to ask if they did alignments and find out what the price was. We were unable to get to the second question because when I asked if he did alignments he asked me what was going on and I briefly explained that I had replace the inner tie rod's and since then had experienced very uneven tire wear. It's only logical that if you replace the tire rods and you do it yourself but you're probably gonna screw up the alignment pretty bad. He told me that It's probably not the alignment and that I more likely than anything else needed new tires because the other tires that I had on there were most likely the cause of the uneven tire wear. Considering I hadn't even asked how much the alignment was yet and he was already trying to sell me on something I didn't ask for and he couldn't possibly know I needed, I just thanked him for his time and hung up. If that's the kind of experience I'm going to have on the phone I already know what's going to happen if I pull my car into the shop. Other reviews here seem to support that hypothesis. I can get an overblown estimate we're up sold by anyone. I was looking for a good deal, this is clearly not the place to get it. I'm not even gonna bring my car in now and I was already sold on an alignment that I am already sure I need. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My husband and I are from Indiana we made an appointment to get our R.V. service before our trip home, the mechanic said he would get start the service immediately we dropped it off at 7:30 in the morning. My husband went at 11:30 to check progress they had not started working on it. They knew we were planning on leaving out. Said they had to finish another one first. We asked that they check the transmission fluids as we had just had a new one installed, they said they would do that along with a dye test as we were leaving for Indiana the next day. We asked them what the dye test showed the guy said that they didn't do one. We got to Pelman Alabama and our coach didn't want to go apparently they never checked transmission fluid. They lied to us!!! They knew we were leaving the next day for a 840 mile trip home..They knew we just had to install a transmission.. This place is all shiny and showy. Took my daughters car for a tune up and get the tires rotated.. After there "inspection", they came back saying it needed $1800 worth of work. That didn't include a tune up or the rotation which they said it needed neither. Since then, the car smells of burning oil and is pulling hard to the left. I have been going to Honest-1 for years (first in Port Orange, now thankfully in Ormond Beach). Kristine Minimi is my Service Advisor and she is great. Always works with my busy schedule to get me in and keep my car running well. Also looks for savings and advises me when expensive repairs are coming up well in advance for planning purposes. While searching on the internet I stumbled across the site, I was impressed by all the positive reviews I made an appt on Sunday they diagnosed my problem, and I was scheduled to drop the car off on Monday.
