INCOMPETENCE OR DISHONESTY? I'm sorry to say it appears to be one or the other. I brought my Navigator To Honest-1 Ormond because of the great reviews and management's comments under reviews that they tend to save customers 20-25% below dealers' costs. After my experience, I challenge whether these reviews are from actual customers. I brought it in for an oil change; estimate to replace a burnt running board motor; and an odd mechanical sound emanating from the right rear when braking (not a brake noise, but a "Clanging" when letting up on the brake). The first red flag was a $110 diagnostic charge for the running board, which is not taken off the repair if the work is done, it's just a diagnostic. I already knew the motor was bad, but that's how they roll, so I agreed, thinking I'd save with the repair vs. dealer. The service manager, Jeff, was kind enough to come outside while I drove in the parking lot to replicate the noise from the right rear. He agreed that it was odd but his team would figure it out. He mentioned he was a former Ford/Lincoln service advisor. A few hours later he called with the following info: Running board motor needs replacing. $1621 (plus the $110). I told him that was way more than the dealer. Hold off. Noise in rear? Wheel bearings shot. Needs new wheel bearing assemblies- both sides. $1600! I was floored due to two things- I couldn't believe the cost, and more importantly, it did not seem like a wheel bearing noise to me. I told him I would call him back. I went online and the most expensive assembly I could find (OEM) was $500 a side. Aftermarket considerably less. I called the service advisor @ Gary Yeomans and asked for a quote on the running board motor and the wheel bearings. As noted above, both were significantly less. I also told her that I wasn't sure that the bearings were the culprit, so I made an appointment for the next day. Went and picked up my truck from H1. Next day the the dealer called me back. WHEEL BEARINGS ARE FINE. IT WAS MISSING A BRAKE CALIPER BOLT. $8. Replaced both to be safe lol. The dealer could have easily told me I needed wheel bearings since it's plausible that the bearings were bad plus needing the bolt (when she wrote it up she mentioned it had been diagnosed as needing bearings so those were checked). Looks like they are the Honest 1's. When you pull the wheel off, the FIRST THING YOU SEE is that huge caliper. The bolt is facing you on the top half of the rotor. There is no way you CAN'T see the missing bolt, especially since they checked the brakes for wear (supposedly). It wasn't loose- it was gone. So, as I said- either they are grossly incompetent to miss that, OR the obvious- let's replace expensive parts that are not needed and add the bolt. Fixed! Ironically, I said to Jeff at drop off that years ago the caliper bolt on the left side had vibrated out and he mentioned another car he had seen that happen to recently. So we discussed the actual issue before inspection. Oil change; diagnostic; air filter $180- after various coupons and discounts. Their oil changes are the same price as the dealer, but the dealer adds tire rotation and car wash. No savings, just a wasted day and I will NOT be using this facility for obvious reasons. BTW the owner sends a flowery email asking for feedback after the service. I waited until I had my truck back and called her at the number provided to share this experience. It's simply the shop number, not a direct line. When I asked for her I was told she was not there, and is there very rarely. I responded to her email with my phone number. read more

Ask for an estimate on the oil change and the lady ignore the question, still went through getting oil change and they charge me over $120 for an oil change. read more

By some miracle, I got same say AC service on a Friday. While I waited. Been bringing 2 Toyotas here for at least 7 years. Will not take a car anywhere else as Honest-1 is a First Class Operation. Thanks Brandy!! read more

My initial conversation was with Mr. Jay. He showed me so much grace and celebrated with me my new knowledge of learning my vehicles engine was a 2.0 liter. He clarified my concerns and expectations for my vehicle. He set realistic expectations and did it all with a positive attitude and a smile I could hear over the phone. My second interaction was with Amanda. She was equally amazing. She followed up with me promptly, made sure all of my questions and concerns were addressed and she provided shuttle service for our vehicle to be picked up. Her professionalism is par to none and her delightful personality compliments her professionalism. Amanda and Jay encouraged me to attend the upcoming event "Girls Night at the Garage." Amanda signed me up and explained I will receive a formal invitation via email. I am excited to attend the event because I really need to learn more about my Honda Civic. I am also hoping Jay makes peach cobbler or banana pudding for girls night out. Hint just order Publix fried chicken (have them cook it about 3 minutes longer) My final interaction was with Jeff, (I hope I remembered his name) the service member that worked on my car. He was able to explain the ins and outs of the problem with our vehicle. He was kind and nonjudgmental. He told us what we need to do for follow up and told us to come back in when we are ready. We will definetly be returning. Lastly the ambiance. My fiancé said "this place is immaculate. It's clean, organized, the energy is great and they treated us like family." My fiance does not give compliments that are undeserving. A friend referred me to Honest A and I am so glad I inquired about where she has her car serviced. I know my review is lengthy but I wanted to be clear on why I am giving Honest A a rating of 5. Not only will I return for "Girls Night Out at Garage" We have decided to make Honest A our primary mechanic/auto shop. Thanks for outstanding customer service! Fast repairs and reasonable pricing. Y'all all the best, your new family- Harry & Tyfanni. read more

I had the weekend of a nightmare. My car got stuck on 95 in the pitch dark with a messed up alternator, thankfully. Honest one Auto care was absolutely the best to be honest if they were in my area, I would recommend them to absolutely everyone I worked with Liz, Michelle and Bryton. When I say the service I received was absolutely wonderful and remarkable I am not Kidding, they are honestly the best people I have ever worked with from the hospitality and the transportation the caring and ultimate understanding of our situation was handled amazingly from these three I honestly would've never been able to get through this whole situation mentally or emotionally if it were not for them they took care of absolutely everything and the most awesome part about it was not only did they tell me what was wrong they showed me what was wrong and an 18 page PDF file documenting everything they've done what needed to be done immediately and things that I need to look out for for the future attached with that were photos that they took of what was wrong what they checked, and whether it was good or not, I have never worked with a company, so reliable their name definitely equals out to who and what they do and what they are Anybody who is in the Ormond Beach area if you have any issues, please go see them. You will not regret it at all. I truly want to thank the three people that helped me out in my situation who helped keep myself and my family, safe, uncomfortable, and aware of everything that is going on to make me feel comfortable that I was getting the best and most honest lol service I have ever received you have to check Them out read more

Absolutely, hands down, one of THE BEST auto care facilities I've EVER been to. Facilities are extremely nice. Bathrooms are clean and smell wonderful. They offer food and drinks when waiting. Even have a Kurig! But what sets them apart is their name, Honest 1. They were completely honest with me and explained everything they were doing and were going to try doing. They helped save me money and Ben, my Liaison was so extremely understanding and helpful. They even gave me a ride while my car was in the shop!!! Definitely recommend. I'm coming here from now on. read more

Took the old Jeep, my project car, to them for an overheating problem and general work up. Jeff was so responsive. We discussed several alternatives. Very knowledgeable. We both had the same train of thought and workout out a service plan. Will definitely use again!!! read more

Just simply a crook in my opinion. They quoted me $80 over the phone to change a tire? A carry in rim with a new tire to mount on it, no flat fixing just mounting and they quoted 80. Are you kidding me? They are more expensive than EVERYONE I have called for just about every service. I simply don't trust them. Not to mention most of the reviews on here sound like advertisements and not actual reviews. read more

They are now my go to in Ormond. They were quick and very nice to work with. I thought I needed a few things done, but they ended up calling after the inspection saying that they do not recommend. Which saved me money and gave me the feeing they did not want to milk me for money. They also recommend another a service since they were doing the labor now for something else, it would make that recommend service much cheaper instead of paying for that labor again when I would need that service in the future. However, I have had a rattle for a while. I did not think much of it, but a mechanic I took it my car to shortly after, noticed and fixed the rattle (broken engine bolt). I did not ask Honest about the rattle, but it would have been the icing on the cake if they did says something about that. That being said, if I am in the area and need auto service, I will be going to Honest. read more

Jeff answered my panicked call on a Friday evening as I sat in a hot car with a six year old. I couldn't get the key to work, but Jeff talked me through some trouble shooting steps over the phone and resolved the issue! I cannot thank him enough for his patience and kindness. I will be using this as my service center for anything I need in the future. Great job Jeff and Honest-1!! read more

Scheduled a brake fluid flush. Front desk girls were extremely polite and very helpful. Technician was prompt and very knowledgeable. He was also very quick and did an excellent job. I highly recommend this company for your auto repair. Very professional, knowledgeable and the price is right. They kept me in the loop all the way through my service appointment so I knew what my cost was going to be. Excellent company to work with!!! read more

It is all in the name! They are truly honest. I have been going to them since they opened, and even went to Dennis when he was at another auto repair place. They have never recommended anything that was not needed. My husband finally started using them too, and was very pleased. When he came home, from his first visit, he had nothing but praises for Honest One. I highly recommend Honest One! read more

Quoted me over $1400 to replace two front wheel bearings. Top-quality parts retail for ~$300 and a competent mechanic would complete this job in an hour or so. As I was leaving, another customer was expressing his shock over an apparently expensive bill. read more

Was in from out of town. The A/C wasn't working properly and needed a recharge. I stopped in and they were able to handle the problem within 45 minutes. The price was almost $100 cheaper than the other places I had called. Facility was super clean and the staff was friendly. read more

Very friendly, helpful office staff. Couldn't ask for nicer folk. They quoted me $700+ to replace a multifunction wiper switch on my steering column. I thought that seemed a bit high and so I looked into it and found the same part from a number of retail sources for about $70 (they would've charged me $277) and I watched two YouTube videos on replacing the switch. You remove three screws, two plastic pieces, 1 more screw, uncouple an electrical housing, slide out the switch and then just work backwards. The jeep mod catalogs says this is a 30 minute fix. The garage wanted $350 for labor. And $60 for shop supplies (are they going to buy new screwdrivers?). Maybe every shop is like this these days but this just seems excessive. Time to get my hands dirty, I suppose. read more

This is a great place for you and your car. No run-around, just good honest service! Thanks for your help with my car!

I own Mercedes C300 4matic and have been looking for a reliable and honest auto repair shop. I went to couple auto repair places and wasn't impressed with their service and behavior. Also the local Mercedes Dealership is notorious for charging way to much for the services they provide and not all the repairs they do are top notch. I'm glad I called an Honest - 1 Auto Care, spoke to Ben - service advisor - great guy! Ben was very warm on the phone and I booked B service and alignment, hopping my MB will be treated good. I was glad and surprised to see the business and parking lot are clean and well maintained. The service I received was great and I'm looking forward to having them take care of my cars. I recommend them highly to anyone needing an honest car repair! read more

Great waiting area, fast wifi and a place for kids to play. The place is clean the people are friendly it was a good experience. I brought in both of my cars for a check up. So we brought my husband's car in for an estimate. It took a week before finally receiving an estimate. They told us it would be 1,800 to do the back brakes. Needless to say we picked the car up and brought it somewhere else. The quote for the same brake job is 796.34 + tax. Do not use this place they are a total joke. read more

I found myself here after purchasing tires from the South Daytona Beach location which I frequent for my oil changes. After being made aware that the tire machine in SDB wasn't the best option to mount the tires on my over-size aluminum rims I was asked to drive here to get the tires mounted and balanced. The owner and technician from the SDB store met me here and they did the work so my interaction here mainly was a greeting by this location's staff and the owner. This is beautiful location with a very nice waiting area complete with complimentary coffee and refreshments, comfortable seating and a large screen television segregated from the business counter which is nice. The shop is in the back of the store and is very modern and spacious as well. If I lived in the area I would definitely come here for all my automotive service, I've found Honest-1 to be a very professional company with great ethics and integrity.... read more

We are new to the area and had a fuel pump go out in one of our vehicles, on the bridge in the pouring rain. We picked honest 1 hoping the big fancy building would translate to good service. The next morning we received the quote. My husband is mechanical and in other circumstances could do the work himself. They were almost 200$ higher than several other shops in the area. When we notified them we were taking it elsewhere, they told us we would have to pay for the diagnostic labor before releasing the vehicle. I protested, as that was not mentioned prior to us authorizing the quote. Update: I did receive a call from the manager as he tried to justify the charges, stating that the independent garages in the area will undercut their price with cheap parts made in China. (The garage we took it to, get their parts from the same distributor and have a warranty) But he did waive the fee. read more

If you are visiting the area and need unforeseen auto repairs Honest A-1 is the place to go. We were on vacation, pulling a camping trailer, and I thought I heard the first sound of brakes wearing out. A-1 checked the brakes, found plenty of wear left on all four wheels and there was no charge. Honest A-1 is honest, which says a lot. Also, A-1 was observing COVID-19 precautions, and has a squeaky-clean waiting area with free Wi-Fi. read more

My experience couldn't have been better. Kristine arranged a rental car from Enterprise after 5PM on Friday and took my car in for repair for Saturday. Since my repair was covered by the NAPA Service Center warranty, I had no out of pocket expense other than for the rental of which Kristine got me their corporate rate! I was in Daytona for the weekend so it was great when my car was fixed as promised Saturday afternoon. On top of it all Kristine returned the rental to Enterprise on Monday, the next business day so I could go back home to SC Sunday as planned. Honest 1 and Kristine are the best! read more

Brad, a lying untrustworthy manager or something. Had my car there for 2 months. Billing my warranty company for repairs not done, or improperly done. Took my car to them for an oil change and a tune up. They found I needed my 2 front wheel barrings & lower control arm replaced. They replaced them. 2 weeks later my car over heats needing to be towed back to Honest-1. They found a whole new list of problems: thermostat, inner water pump and radiator. We accepted thermostat and water pump because they said radiator didn't need to be done immediately. Moving forward from that by a couple more weeks..my car started grinding and pulling to the left and my steering wheel was not aligning with the direction of my wheels. So I took it to Tire Kingdom to get an alignment done. As Tire kingdom was in the process of doing their work...they found that the lower control arm had not be properly put on my car causing one of my brand new wheel barrings to go bad. The gentleman at tire kingdom noticed that i had 3 car seats in the back of my car and stated that he wouldn't drive my car anywhere with children until work was completed. We could have been in a wreck...I have a video of the lower control arm dangling off my vehicle. read more

Edit of Review! Mike at Honest-1 contacted me within an hour of my review below. He was very nice and apologized for not asking if I was a AAA member. He then offered to extend a refund of 10% on the work I had done. It is so nice these days to run into businesses who follow up with their customers. Mike did not ask that I change my review, I have changed my rating solely based on their follow-up and response. (I never give 5 stars unless it includes dinner and a movie, ha) The catch is in the name. Took a truck I just bought that needed to be flushed of all oils, fluids, ect. and needed an adjustment to the cooling fan clutch? Be ready, these guys are expensive! Back to the name. My Dad always said "There is no degree of honesty. You are either honest or you are not" Honest-1 gave me a quote for the above services. I noted to them that the price seemed very high. They said it was do to the fact that they warranty their work. (I would expect this at the least). Told me several times this was the best they could do. I am new to the area and other reviews were quite good. Never did they ask if I was a AAA member and I did not even think about it. Wife just had oil changed and she did ask about the AAA discount. They told her yes they do give a AAA discount. When she told them about my bill they just said too bad. (Also, no discount for oil changes) So, Honest-1 is only honest with you if you ask them to be. Don't expect the name and reality to be the same. read more

These guys are awesome. I loved their service and comfort of their waiting area while waiting to get my oil changed.
