Do NOT take your pets here. I caught them trying to scam me into TWO $2,500 procedures for my cat. I decided to get a second opinion on the "large bladder stones" they found in my cat and the second vet not only was going to charge a fraction of the cost for the procedure, they couldn't find ANY stones. Followed up in six months and still couldn't find any stones. The second procedure was teeth cleaning, claiming he had infected teeth. The other vet agreed teeth weren't great, but definitely no infection and could wait. And even worse, they told me my other cat most likely had cancer and since I couldn't afford to go through cancer treatments for an 18 yo old cat, there wasn't anything else I could do. Meanwhile, my cat is getting sicker and sicker, but I felt my job was just to make her comfortable until the end. On another visit with the same cat, they acted like they'd never said that and claimed a different diagnosis!!! I decided then to get a second opinion, but it was too late. She was too far gone and passed away. read more

And if I hadn't kept on my toes they would have double charged me several times I don't recommend anybody go there. Have been coming here for over 10 years and would not go anywhere else. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Dr. Mease and Jenny are both amazing. They truly care about you and your pets. Today was my dog's annual exam but we were also addressing another issue that has been going on for a couple of weeks. They took great care of him, listened to everything I had to say. Be aware. Second opinions are a must.. about 4000.00 just to send our dog home to die And that was just suppose to be for the neutering. Thousands more prior.. Instead of prolonging his life, they took him from us plain and simple! We trusted them and they killed him. The word "anesthesia" is evil and not to be taken lightly. EXTREMELY dishonest practice. The vets lie throughout their documentation, and lie about diagnoses to cover things up (this happened to us with Dr. Hilton who no longer works there; and then a few years later--just this year--with Dr. Mease too). Dr. Mease is the lead doctor of the facility (and who I thought was the owner), but as it turns out, they are another CORPORATE, non-vet owned facility. If you have pet insurance, watch out--they love sending you and your pet to BLUEPEARL for specialty care--even though there are much better qualified, more affordable, and CLOSER providers who are BOARD-CERTIFIED. Thanks to their last BluePearl referral (Dr. Carmen Yeamans, a non-board certified neurologist from BluePearl Overland Park in Kansas/Kansas City)--my healthy 6-year old Shih tzu's life was almost taken--repeatedly. She was actually never supposed to make it out of BluePearl so that I would never know the truth of what happened. The neurologist these doctors referred us to (and that they highly recommended) caused my dog to have an entirely PREVENTABLE stroke (that Dr. Mease refused to diagnose or admit; I had to be the one to discover and diagnose the stroke myself--even though I don't work with animals). BluePearl did a spinal tap that was done without my consent, which worsened the stroke they had already caused her. After 1 day, when they saw she wasn't getting any better from the strokes (still not eating, not able to walk or even left her head, unable to urinate/defecate)--the neurologist from blue pearl lied in the medical record and said my dog Coco was "getting better" and released her to me to take home. I was given an unreasonably large dose of Acepromazine, a horse tranquilizer, for my 3.7 lb dog--in which there was NO VALID USE FOR THAT MEDICINE FOR HER. Unsurprisingly, after a few hours of me giving her the medicine, Coco stopped breathing, went totally limp, lifeless and cold. She was totally unresponsive and fell into a coma/comatose-state and didn't wake up for over 30 hours. The odds of her surviving this was 1-5%. The odds of her surviving ALL of the things that happened to her due to what BluePearl and Dr. Yeamans did: less than .00019% !!! There were also other direct attempts on her life that I don't even care to mention right now, because that's how disgusting thinking about what happened to her is...the torture they subjected her to was repeated, criminal level animal cruelty, and unacceptable given the fact that it came from multiple vets from their center who either did things directly or indirectly to harm poor Coco. Dr. Mease, our vet of many years, was aware of all of this, and still wanted me to keep taking coco back to this place even after she had somehow survived all of these attempts on her life and the absolute HELL we had gone through. Turns out coco never even needed a neurology referral to begin with...all she needed was $5 blood pressure medicine! Dr. Mease also blocked me from taking her to an "outside" facility for stroke rehab (no explanation given--she just said "don't go" and made it sound like they would harm coco, so we didn't)--so for months Coco struggled to get better without any outside stroke care. I then found out that the neurologist who had done all these things to Coco had a similar pattern of harm with a dog in Arizona in 2020. I informed Dr. Mease of this alarming pattern of behavior and basically begged them to not keep referring animals and their owners to this person (because now there is an ESTABLISHED pattern of similar wrongdoings). Dr. Mease's response? Something along the lines of: "We can't discuss our referral habits or policies with you." Yep!!!! So now I have to sit here every day and think about how this woman is still sending people and their pets to such a horrific doctor and center. I'm happy to say that that was our last communication and we left their "care" immediately after that. Everything stated above is TRUE, based on FACTS, and I have all the evidence and documentation to prove it. I'm a licensed medical professional (PA) so these claims are not made lightly. Thrive and Dr. Mease--although they didn't directly cause all of the abuse and repeated harm to Coco--they allowed for it to continue and essentially turned a blind eye to it all. To say that we were let down would be an understatement. I felt there wasn't ANYONE to left that I could trust with my poor dying dog's care. This has been by far the worst, most traumatizing experience of my life. These people don't care about you or your animals--what they care about is money and self-protection...even if it's at the cost of your pets' life. That's what I experienced first hand at least. Don't bring your pet here..and please don't trust any of their referrals! read more

I absolutely love hometown veterinary hospital !! I have been taking my pets there since I moved to Springfield in 2005. They are very compassinate and caring staff !! When I first met Dr. Mease, I thought, wow, what an amazing veterinarian and kind human. She is very knowledgable at what she does. All of their staff is amazing , and I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience there. I have a Great Dane that can be difficult to deal with and they always try to make him feel calm when they need to do a procedure on him. I would never go anywhere else with my pets. 1/31/25 was an especially hard day for our family. I was at work and received a frantic call from my husband that our 15 year old blind Chihuahua was attacked in our own yard and he was almost attacked by our neighbors dog. Without going into too much detail, when all was said and done with their dog, my husband and I had called nearly every vet in Springfield looking for someone who could see our baby. The Emergency Vet on Glenstone was still closed at that time. We finally reached Hometown Veterinary Hospital. They agreed to see him just as soon as I could get him there. Sad to say he passed before I could get him there but they still took him back to see if I was right. They took my daughter and into a room and within a few minutes a staff member came in and confirmed what I suspected. Then eventually 2 different vets came in and expressed their condolences. From the time we walked in til we left the care and compassion we were shown really showed us just how much they care for people's fur babies. Even when they called to tell us our babies ashes were available for pickup and we got there we were met with caring staff. Again they took us to another room away from the public. They returned my laundry basket we brought him in cleaned, our towel and his blanket all washed and cleaned. This vets office is very clean. It is a place I had hope to never need but so glad they were there when I did! read more
