Great Spot for North American Style Pizza I was in the Carrollton area for business and had finally had the chance to try this Hometown Pizza location. I have driven by this location many times and have heard about it from locals. We arrived around dinner and the restaurant was starting to fill up. Our server came to our table right away and went over some of the popular dishes. I ended up ordering their Grilled Chicken Salad and an individual 'HomeTown Special' pizza made with pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage, pork sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and black olives. The salad was plentiful and filling and I had to take my pizza to go which I heated and enjoyed later. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly and even the manager came out to check on us during our visit. Overall a great spot for pizza, salads, sandwiches and pastas. read more

Restaurant's pest control. Our table was overwhelmed with ants as soon as our apps were delivered. We showed our server and she apologized. she shared a horrible story about how buggy the storeroom and pizza pre area was in the restaurant. Probably not something you want your guest to hear or know about. She apologized again and never asked if we wanted to be reseated to another table or how she could improve our experience. Sigh. She was young "I get it" but at least ask guest if they want to speak to the manager on duty. Hometown's pizza was fantastic. The thick crust was so nice and crisp on the edges, the toppings were all delicious and plentiful as well. The cheesy breadsticks with the marinara and garlic butter dipping sauces are a MUST to get you started!! The staff were great. I forget the name of our server but she was really nice and attentive. I'm no pizza connoisseur but the pizza here is among the best I've ever had. We ordered the white chicken in a medium size on a thick crust, with jalapeños as a substitute for bacon. I'm not a fan of thin crust so when we were asking by our waitress what kind of crust we wanted I'm glad we went with thick crust. It was absolutely perfect. The crust was soft but crispy in all the right places. It wasn't chewy, there was no flour taste that you get at some pizza places. It. Was. Perfect. To make the pizza even better they use fresh ingredients! The jalapeños were fresh, still had a nice crunch and color to it. The same with the onions. I can eat an order of 24-25 with no problem. I wish they would add more celery but the Wings are always great. When we order pizza, we always get thick crust with extra sauce. Bacon was perfectly cooked, pepperoni was thick, ham slices were just the right size, and, again, cheese was nice & heavy. We both enjoyed a side of ranch. If I had a complaint, the portions of their ranch side would be the only thing: a little skimpy. But I don't think they charged for it, so I probably could've just asked for a second serving. Speaking of "charge": $17 included the tip. I did only have water, but my daughter had a soda. Overall it was a great visit. Wish I would've thought to take a pic, but the better ones I saw online were pretty accurate. They offer individual, small, medium & large pizzas. This place is FANTASTIC!! After a day of working with customers and traveling, I opted for something simple for dinner. Years ago I work for a small pizza place in my hometown in SW Kansas and have missed that pizza ever since I moved. This pizza is a perfect replacement.....topped the same and the thin crust is identical. I ordered a small traditional thin crust which was topped with: mushrooms, black olives, green peppers, pepperoni, Italian sausage, pork, ham and onions. On arrival 30 minutes later staff was friendly . Pizza and breadsticks were to order. We asked about cheese dip they advised they do not carry cheese dip. We ordered an extra Marinara it was tasty. We make it a point to visit Hometown whenever we're in town staying at General Butler State Resort Park. We keep coming back because the service is always friendly and food is prepared well, and quickly. The dining room is casual, with mostly booths but plenty of space for groups, too. Everything we've tried on our many visits over the past few years has been great. We always start with the breadsticks, which are more like cheese bread and served with dipping sauces. On our most recent trip, we tried the Maui-Maui on thin crust which was excellent with tons of fresh veggie toppings and a generous amount of ricotta hiding under the melted cheese. The availability of draft beer is a plus for us, as well! On our recent visit, the rotating tap was Sam Adams Oktoberfest. We'll be back! read more

Here's an interesting idea Hometown, if you going to offer the curbside pick up option on your website ACTUALLY DO CURBSIDE PICKUP. I arrived and called the store per your instructions, only to be immediately put on hold before I could even say what I was there for. To say I was put on hold is a stretch. The phone was actually just laid on the counter so I had to opportunity to listen to all the witty banter of the employees, while I continued to sit on hold for seven minutes. Eventually I got out, came in to the store, got my pizza, walked out and pulled out of the lot. The whole time I was still "on hold". Really? The pizza was great, always is, but I'm at the point to where it'll just be easier to drive down the hill to another pizza place. Their pizza is mehhh, BUT I get my pizza when I get there and I don't have to listen employee A tell employee B that if her boyfriend doesn't stop liking some other girls pictures on Instagram she's going to lose it. So, I was meeting to pick my daughter up from a 2 week Summer Scholars camp and we decided to eat here before driving back to Louisville. We were greeted by a friendly server & seated right away. We were there early, before dinner rush. We browsed the menu and my teens decided that we should do the meatball appetizer, chicken appetizer, & a small pizza. I added on the oh so yummy deluxe garlic cheese bread that has the tastiest creamy garlic butter dip. Drinks & appetizer arrived fairly quickly. Then we sat. And sat. And waited.... for over 40 mins with our waitress twice apologizing and saying large to go/delivery orders had come in. Had to go up front and ask if our meal was ever going to come or if we'd need to just pay for the cheese bread and go elsewhere. After much lag time, we did indeed get the meatball appetizer, chicken bites(?), and small pizza. The very long order to food time was out of the norm compared to past times we'd stopped here. Nothing to comp us for the unacceptably long time waiting on a simple small order....& we were one of 4 tables at the time we ordered around 4:15 on a Friday! As much as we enjoy the pizza & cheese garlic bread a couple times a year, this early dinner that took forever & delayed our getting home was not a top notch experience. read more

There were six in our group and everyone agreed that they loved this place. In fact it is the only restaurant during our 3 days stayed that we ate at twice. The pizza was very good. All of us had the thin crust and everyone thought it was very good. The sauce and the ingredients on the pizzas were very good. Most of this had individual pizzas there included sausage bacon and mushrooms, another head the barbecue Pizza, another had a vegetable pizza, and another had an anchovy pizza. Ive never had wrose servies in my life, and thats no joke or exaggerating, we had 4 different servers, all of which were running around frantically or chilling in the back for 10m. (I dont blame the staff, they were all kids trying) we didnt get the drinks we ordered had to order them 3 times. And still didn't get 2 of them. Almost every person didnt get a refill when asked. (It also took them 10m just to ask us what we wanted to drink) the food took forever to get out almost an hour. While we didnt have drinks or appetizers, that we order. When the food did come out 50% of the order was either wrong or just missing several people with us DIDN'T EVEN GET THE FOOD THEY ORDERED, after waitting about 10 more minutes for their order we finally decided to speak to the manager and wow did this make things SO MUCH WROSE first the 30ish year old manager decided to 1st blame the children working, then blame the "new system" that goes down all the time, then how busy they were (their were 5 groups of people in the entire restaurant, so no they weren't) when asked about the order we didnt get he told us he would comp us the order WE DIDNT EVEN GET, then told us he wasnt going to take anything else off the recite (including thing we just DIDN'T order or receive) the manager was a complete and utterly incompetent jack@$$ who should NEVER have been hired for such a job. We had to leave to not get in a literally fight with this "manager" who was doing nothing to fix any of the issues. So we dicided to leave so we could get food for the people that NEVER got any despite ordering it. Went to pay the bill and they couldnt even tell us what we ordered at all, we had to do their job for them and tell them EVERYTHING we order. And go into EXTREME detail just to pay so we could leave, after going over the bill 3 times and them still messing it up, we just asked them to put whatever on it so we could just get the out of there. I've gone to this hometown pizza for for the better part of 2 decades and the service and food have gone downhill massively in the past few years. I for one would have been willing to try them again in a few months after they got over whatever their current issues are (my guess management) however after the way management spoke to us after raising issue's that could have been handled far better, im not going to be coming back to this restaurant ever! The food is good, service is seriously lacking and management is HOSTILE, (at least the man we had to deal with was, the woman was okay and at least slightly helpfull, but she watched all of this and didn't do anything to help till we they couldn't figure out our bill) save your money, time, and blood pressure by avoiding this place altogether. I always look for unique places to eat when I'm out of town and I quickly realized that Carrollton, KY was not the epicenter for fine dining! But Hometown Pizza DID serve up some GREAT pizza! Although I must let you know, I've never met a pizza I didn't like!! The pizza was very similar to Pizza Hut in looks and taste. The restaurant was clean and affordable. The waitress I had was very helpful and friendly. There is a wide array of pizza choices as well as salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes and other menu items. This is a Pizza Hut buffet on Sunday afternoon. It's also the after church dinner spot, so likely you'll be under dressed. Its a friendly enough locale, but they absolutely notice out-of-towners. The pizza is very typical, nothing out of the ordinary. There was always hot coming from the kitchen and always a dessert pizza on the rack. The salad was not appealing and very messy.
