Can't say enough on Johnny Garcia and his very capable crew ( John M Garcia and David Hernandez) I had gotten 4 other bids for my work and they came in about the middle, but what sold me was the personal experience of Johnny as we discussed how far to trim my trees. Work was to removed one tree and trim 2 others. Not to mention they cleaned up after themselves and just did an amazing job all around. I highly recommend. Will be using them again. read more

John was recommended to me and was super easy to work with. He worked with my availability and explained why he only trimmed pines from Nov- March. Was on time, covered plants to protect them from falling branches and protected sprinkler heads. One of the wires was caught and broke a part of the valve system. John went and bought replacement parts and repaired it that same day after clean up. Great job. Good prices and totally recommend John Garcia of Homestead Tree Service. Thank you to him and his team! Tree topping is brutal. Although the term "butchered" is frequently used, butchers are highly skilled meat cutters. Tree topping is nothing short of "assault." In 1991, the State of California adopted Public Resources Code, GOV § 53067 [1], which codified that tree-topping should be prohibited, and ordinances need to be adopted and enforced because the practice is unscientific and causes a risk to public safety [2], as well as threatening the health of valued urban trees [3]. When large tree limbs are headed back, epicormic re-growth is typically excessive and weakly attached [4]. Using tree topping to reduce canopy bulk or improve a view is a short-lived and shortsighted solution. Nevertheless, look around at parking lots, streets, homes, schools, churches, gas stations, hospitals and HOA's; everyone seems to ignore the intent of the civil code. Contractor's License Required In addition, pruning or removal of any tree over 15 feet in California also requires a C-61/D-49 CA State Contractor's license [5]. I do not know why many businesses and homeowners continue to risk extreme liability by hiring unlicensed, ill-trained individuals armed with chainsaws but zero qualifications; it stuns sensibility. Serious injuries are predictable [6], and mutilations, falls and deaths do occur [7]. Unsafely ascending trees and lopping off huge branches on demand, ignoring state regulations, and the need for proper insurance and workman's compensation coverage, is so risky as to be ludicrous. Even capable, licensed tree contractors who prune large trees should have an ISA Certified Arborist on staff. These professionals are trained to supervise safety protocols and must meet ongoing educational requirements, including an understanding of tree biology. read more

A 'shout out' to Homestead/ John Garcia and his very capable crew of tree specialists. Clean, polite, careful, on time, flexible and fairly priced in today`s labor market/inflation and other company costs/expenses. Homestead trimmed back a 60 year old, 40' ficus tree that needed some love. I am certain that the 'tree' appreciates the opportunity to grow more fully in the future as does this owner who also recognizes the professionalism of said workers. I strongly recommend you consider Homestead for your tree services. read more

So, so glad I hired Homestead Tree Service to remove 5 trees from our property today. Before I hired Homestead, I got bids from 5 different companies. Homestead was more expensive than a couple of the companies, and less expensive than a couple -- putting them right in the middle of the pack. It was of course tempting to go with a cheaper service and keep some money in my wallet, however, when the owner -- Bob Walton -- explained the approach he and his team would take, there was no question in my mind that Homestead was the way to go for our challenging property. He proposed sending over a LARGE crew with a bucket lift which would be able to knock out our job in just one day. The other companies all wanted 2 or 3 days to do the job, which was not the way I wanted to go. Our most difficult tree was a 35-year-old, 75-foot-tall Aleppo pine that was leaning over our pool. Bob had a crew of 6 or 7 guys over here with three trucks, a chipper, and a bucket lift. They showed up at 8:15 this morning, exactly when Bob said they would. With all the workers and equipment, they had that big old tree completely gone by noon. They took a quick lunch break, then knocked out the other 4 trees in our front yard within a few hours. The guys took real care to make sure nothing was damaged below the tree work, and they used rakes and blowers to clean up all the debris. I would give Homestead more than 5 stars if I could -- I won't even consider using anyone else. read more

One again a fine job, excellent clean up, Bob, John and crew very friendly and helpful.

Johnny & his team came out and removed 4 of our established Eucalyptus trees at our home in Ramona. They got the job done quickly & efficiently. Very fair & competitive pricing (we got 5 quotes in total). Not to mention they cleaned up after themselves and just did an amazing job all around. We highly recommend them! read more

Bob Walton and his crew do a great job for any kind of tree work. They took down a huge dangerous eucalyptus tree and left the area spotless. This is the third time we have used their service and will use them again when needed. Thanks so much. read more

This is the second time I have used Homestead. Bob comes out beforehand, examines the job, and gives the estimate, breaking it down: if you want this, then it will cost you this much; if you want that, then the price will be that. They're very fair and I wouldn't use any other service. Ted and his crew did beautiful work today, as always! Should I come to expect that every time? Why not. They don't disappoint. I wish I'd taken before pictures, but it's always so nice to see the sun and air come through the branches! read more

Despite several reminders to Mr. Walton that trimming a king palm to less than 3 fronds and a spear would damage the palm, his crew has continued to do so. Use their palm trimming service if you want your palms to 'pencil' and die. read more

Homestead never fails to deliver. They have done work for me, family members and neighbors since the late nineties. Most recently they lowered the canopy on a tree that was too big for the area. The end result showed real artistic talent. Shaping and pruning produced a beautiful tree. These guys don't just hack off limbs, and they clean up and don't damage property. It is nice to see old-fashioned pride in workmanship still exists. read more

I want to give a big THANK YOU to Robert and his team at Homestead Tree Service. This was our first time using your services, and everyone we dealt with at your company was professional and courteous. We were extremely impressed with the actual tree removal and trimming. The crew who came to our house was very friendly, and they did an amazing job of cleaning-up after all the work - you wouldn't know that we had all the work done by how neat and clean they left the yard! We look forward to using your services again and will definitely refer you to our friends. read more

Great guys & great job - do our palm trees every year! Owner Bob always comes by first / very nice & professional people. Great work

Bob and his team are nothing but professional. Ted his foreman was on time and explained the whole process ahead of starting their work. I had three other bids for the work and all were comparable but where Homestead stood out was they said they would be done in a half a day vs the others who quoted two days! They did an excellent job cleaning up afterwards and even did a little extra. I would highly recommend Homestead and the service they offer! read more

We had them remove two huge pine trees that were on a steep hillside that was next to two fences. They did an amazing job. They arrived on time, were fast, no damage was done to the fencing, and did great with all the cleaning up. We got three different quotes and Homestead was fair. The owner even came out to make sure everything was going smoothly. Great business and I will be recommending to others. read more

I contacted Homestead after receiving a bid from another company to remove 1 tall eucalyptus tree and trim 3 additional trees. Homestead's bid to do everything was considerably less than the other one and I was very pleased with their work. I had to reschedule with them due to an uncooperative neighbor and they were willing to accommodate me. The crew was professional and did an excellent job with the removal, trimming, and clean up. I have recommended them to many friends since then. read more

Bob and his crew have taken care of our trees for years. They do an excellent job and know their stuff. They trim trees properly, are friendly and clean everything up before they leave. Bob won't do work that doesn't need to be done and truly cares that your trees are healthy and thriving. read more

Bob Walton from Homestead Tree Service has been working at my home and adjacent canyon for 30 years. I think the same crew has been coming here for more than 20 years. They are reasonably priced, efficient, cheerful, professional and work quickly--cleaning up after their work. Bob is a certified arborist. The advice he gives preserves, protects and beautifies your landscape. Call them for an estimate and rely on them for excellent work. read more

Terrible customer service. Made appointment 4 days in advance. I took time off of work. They did not show up nor did they have the courtesy to call and tell me why they were not coming (bad customer service)....I'll find someone else who knows that the customer comes first. Guess they don't need any business from me read more

Out here again today ... really a great crew doing excellent work. I always look forward to them doing their yearly rounds!

I have used Homestead Tree for several jobs, at my work and at my home, and have been extremely happy with the end result. Bob is very knowledgeable about all manner of trees, and will take time to explain his "vision" if you are interested in the details. If not, he will trim to your specifications. His staff is extremely nice and very responsive - great customer service. I will definitely be contacting Homestead for future tree trimming jobs. read more

I have been using Homestead Tree Service for the past six years. The own, Bob Walton, is knowledgable, courteous, prompt, and friendly. I will say the same for his workmen. They were here yesterday to lace two large trees. The job was done quickly but with efficiency. It is obvious that the men enjoy their work. read more

Unlike the "gentleman" who posted before me, we were more than happy with the service we received. We were told a time frame in which to expect the crew to arrive and they came within that time. They took care of our tree and were courteous and friendly. We feel like we got a good price for the work done and were even given advice on what to replace our tree with. I highly recommend Bob and his crew. read more

I had to remove a gigantic eucalyptus tree that imperiled my house. Homestead removed the tree quickly, efficiently and professionally as promised and on budget. The crew of 5 couldn't have been nicer and considerate. Dealing with the office and the owner, Bob Walton, was a pleasure. Even his competitors endorse him. read more

We hired this company for a consultation with their consulting arborist, Robert. We are disappointed because he did not provide the information we were looking for as to why a tree died rapidly in our landscape. He just thought that the recent landscape renovation that we did could have been the issue. He only gave information on how to water properly during this drought. Robert had a knee surgery so he had difficulties to walk around. I would have preferred someone that could walk around the property easier to give a better consultation. After 1/2 hour sharp, he stopped taking questions respecting his fee. read more

At the recommendation of my landscape designer, we hired Homestead Tree Service to remove two trees and trim others. Bob Walton's crew arrived on time, ready to work. They completed the work quickly and efficiently and did a great cleanup afterwards. Our trees have never looked better! We have used other services in the past and have paid more for lesser results. I highly recommend Homestead for any of your tree cared needs. read more
