Short Story (TLDR) : As other users have stated Yes, the service is fairly subpar and they will have you paying for services for months without having activated them. Yes, your cameras will consistently have issues and they will gaslight you into believing they are due to your internet. Yes, they deceptively put you in 5-year contracts, and if you try to cancel they will threaten to continue to charge you and eventually send you to collections if you don't pay. Please make sure to record all your calls with these people as I have otherwise they will do some pretty crazy levels of lying and deception. Long Story: 2022 - So I closed on my new construction home in Fort Worth in 2022 and before closing we had a HomePro salesperson pitch the product and I felt pretty safe with them based on what was told to us at the time. He proposed paying overtime or a one-time payment for the equipment and I decided to pay all at once. Now mind you at no point did this man ever disclose that I would be locked into a 5 year service contract. 2023 - During the first half of 2023 (February I believe) I realized that they had not activated my Unlimited Camera Recording despite this part of my service plan. I called them and asked if they could be activated. They stated it wouldn't be a problem and all I would have to do was put in an SD card. Which I did and installed and just forgot about it. Around this time I started noticing my cameras were very spotty. I didn't understand why but no matter what I did they were very spotty, especially my front door and driveway cameras. They told me it was my internet and I needed to get an extender which I did but the issue persisted. I even upgraded from 1GB internet to 2GB internet and saw no changes. Being in tech I was a bit suspicious at first because I knew it couldn't be the speed of my internet as everything else worked and I have a mesh system that drastically improves bandwidth but only the HomePro cameras seemed to have an issue. I decided that hey at least they work when they work I will leave it at that and be understanding. 2024 - In early September of 2024 we had an unfortunate situation where a contractor threatened and assaulted my wife in our home while I was away. It was a horribly frightening moment in our lives and I immediately thought to myself "Thank God we have HomePro". I go to check the onboard recording and I can't find it anywhere on the dashboard. I decided to call HomePro and ask where I can find it and the tech support agent notified me that he could see it was added to my account but it was never activated. Now I want you to imagine for a second... A SECURITY COMPANY not activating SECURITY FEATURES that are PART OF YOUR SERVICE for 2 YEARS.....2 YEARS!! I was livid but I kept my cool and I was respectful with the guy on the phone and I told myself "You know what, we will do what we have to do to work with the police to get this handled." Within 2 weeks of this happening the front yard camera gave out when I tried troubleshooting it due to it being so buggy we couldn't view the front yard for more than 2 seconds without it timing out. So I am done at this point and when I call to cancel they notify me that I have a 5 year contract and that it will cost me upwards of $2.5K to purchase out of my contract. You can imagine how disgusted I was that after dealing with ABSOLUTELY SUPBAR SERVICE, HORRIBLE EQUIPMENT, and the literal ASSAULT OF MY WIFE and subsequent investigation that could have been mitigated by a service I PAY FOR that wasn't even working, and now they are telling me they will charge me $2.5k or send me to collections if I don't pay...LOL Have fun trying to get that money from me because I will get litigious if I have to. These people are absolutely incompetent and downright scummy in their business practices. Do not work with them. read more

After 4 attempts at calling the number the "owner" referred, I still haven't heard back from anyone. Which is no surprise at this point! Pros : Sales rep was great Cons : Installation guys were great, but they didn't do POE for one of the camera even though that has been part of contract. Addon camera was never delivered or installed. They cancelled the appointment for addon camera installation and scheduled for later date with out notifying us. Customer service is poor , you will end up waiting in line for few mins before it goes to VM & no body calls you back even if you leave VM. Monitoring system literally doesn't exist, alarm triggered on couple of occasions but no body called back to check on the safety or need 911. Tshombie Crawford, Appointment Scheduler, is the main emailer and caller. I have received phone calls and emails from the company, even though I have repeatedly told them to stop contacting me. I feel that Homepro is not respecting my privacy or my wishes. I would like to warn other consumers about the Homepro's aggressive sales tactics. Not a good company. They prewired my new build. If not for a salesman that lived in my neighborhood who hits everyone up before closing, I would not have gone with them. They act as if they are a new, and small organization. I had an issue where I wanted to get additional keypads. I am offering to give them more money. I got passed around like a hot potato. Attention everyone, Beware of this dishonest business. I recently bought a new house (July 2024) in Round Rock, TX, and was approached by HomePro for their services. The salesperson claimed that I could terminate the service at ANY time. However, this turned out to be false. They now say I'm locked into a 5-year contract, which I supposedly agreed to. Moreover, they never informed me about the 3-day trial period for termination. I installed the service 7 days ago, so I've missed this trial period. So thought I would share this so others know what type of company your dealing with. We built are home in 2003, and Home Pro was the company the builder used for wiring sound and security. Overall the actual install of what we decided on went well and was pleased with the quality of work. Fast forward 10-11 years. we were having issues with the alarm system and a tech came out to resolve. During the service call he informed me that the smoke alarms were not wired to the alarm monitoring. Mind you we had been paying for monitoring service that included the smoke alarms for 10+ years. At that time I declined to pay to have the smoke alarms wired into the alarm panel, and our service was updated to remove smoke alarm monitoring. So I paid roughly $10 per month for 10+ years for a service that was never connected properly. Never got reimbursement for the overpayments. Insanity I did not cancel service and as the kids grew the only times the alarm was active was when we were away from the home for vacation. The other reason was to have the Fire / Police panic buttons available if needed, although at this point I have no clue if those functions would of work as I expected. Fast forward to the present year. The system has never been updated or touched by Home Pro except for that one service call. One night the siren started blaring at 4am. On top of that the keypad panels started beeping constantly so the power to the entire system was disconnected. When I called to ask for a service call, rather than schedule one I was asked to call from home so they could perform trouble shooting remotely. They had mentioned that my account had not been updated in years and it showed I had been a customer since roughly 2014, which was about the time it was determined that I had been overcharged for 10+ years, now it seems those 10+ years were no longer associated with my account. The account has now been canceled, which I was more than happy to pay the cancelation charge as your contract seems to renew every year and you must buy out the remaining months to cancel service. If nothing else I feel better sharing this experience, perhaps it saves one person from having to deal with poor service, and if your are a customer demand better from your provider do not settle. read more

When we first moved into our house a year and a half ago we had the HomePro monitoring system installed. The salesman who came to my house talked me into having it monitored for one year. Because we were new to the area I thought this would be a good idea. When I just called to have it canceled I was told that it was a FIVE year contract. I told them that I never would have agreed to a five year contract. My husband and I both remember the salesman telling us it was only for one year. Apparently I initialed next to a line that had 5 years. I trusted the salesman and was in a rush and did not read what I was signing on his iPad. The person that I spoke to today from the company offered no apologies and told me that she hoped I learned a lesson to read everything I sign from now on. Extremely disappointed because we were excited about getting the security cameras, but we've had some issues and have called 6 separate times to resolve it and every time we have to explain the issues just for them to transfer us to someone new and explain the story over and over again just for no one to be able to help us. It is ridiculous that not a single person there can fix the issues we are having. It seems like all they want to do is slap a bandaid over the problem and hope "it makes it ok." Or charge us for their mistakes. Nobody seems to be trying to figure out any real solutions other than play the blame game and say it's our fault for singing off when we were told to sign and they would call us when to come back to fix the few things that weren't done so they themselves were aware that the job was not complete. This has got to be the biggest scam ever and please run for your life when you hear the company name. Here is my story. 1. Moved into a brand new home and got this installed in March 2023. Unfathomably Bad Service for shoddy products. Had some outdoor speakers installed on our patio a few years ago, they soon appear to short out and stop working entirely. When reaching out to get service, I was quoted $135+ per hour for even the diagnostic, with no even offer of help figuring out the issue. It seems their business model is selling cheap, quick-breaking equipment and then bilking their customers for the fixes. Spare yourself the trouble and pain of your wallet and steer clear. The customer service is bad. I have to re-schedule my appointment of installation due to my own reasons. On the phone, they told me that I can call them anytime once I am ready for installation. A few weeks late when I want to re-schedule the service, they told me that I have to pay for the installation (my builder offered free one-time installation). I explained them that I called to cancel the last appointment. Then they told me that the service guy was there before my phone call. Well, things happen. Then they added that the technician could not complete the service because there was an issue with AT&T at my home. First of all, I don't use AT&T. Second of all, my internet had no issues on that day or anyday. Third of all, my partner confirmed with me that no one showed up. This made me so suspicious about their story. I asked for proof. They claim that their GPS confirmed that the technician was at my place for about half an hour. No, no one even showed up for the first time! They suggested that I can ask my builder to cover the expense of dispatch. Nope. I am done with this company. read more

Here is a summary of my service with HomePro. I chose HomePro because they we're aligned with the builder ... despite very aggressive sales and now the front door bell camera does not work. I am regretting my choice quickly. I asked for more information via their web site is no less than 3 people contacted me telling me they were all my main contact. I worked through that and went ahead. Now, can't use the doorbell. No alerts on motion. Not what I signed up for sadly. My contact, Michael seems nice enough and responsive but I am just not happy with HomePro right now. UPDATE. A technician came out two weeks ago And installed a Wi-Fi extender. All that did was crash the Internet throughout the house. I still cannot access the doorbell camera and I'm still not getting alerts from motion using that same front camera. Terrible!!! UPDATE 9/20/20 Router from Specturm failed. Installed a new one. All camera's of course no longer work with the new router. Call Home Pro to connect them to the new WiFi.... NOPE! 2.5 weeks for a tech to come and reset them up. AND.... Now the front camera STILL does not work... see the picture below and the back camera does not detect any movement. Update 10/20 Tech's did come out after 2-weeks, nice guys. Worked hard to make sure everything was working, which it was when they left. I appreciated all they did. Update 1/3/21 Less than 3-months later, down again! My wife is more upset with HomePro than I am I think. She can't rely on the system were paying for to help her feel safe, especially after someone tried opening our front door in December and the camera never detected them. The police came quick when we called and ran off the guy (homeless guy). Update 1/8/21 George was just here to fix the doorbell... HE WAS AMAZING! Literally fixed the issue in 20 min AND taught me how to reset it in the future if the problem returns. Props to George! Update 1/12/21 Down again! FYI. No one from HomePro has offered a credit, refund, anything to compensate for failing to meet the service agreement. Some of the techs were really good and the designer who helped with the initial specs for the house was great. They forgot to install my glass break sensor. I didn't know what it was, called about it, and they made it right. Then I realized they didn't give me a subwoofer, so another call, another trip, and they fixed it. Annoying, but they fixed it. The main gripe I have is they didn't give me enough slack in the cabling in the network cabinet. I asked for 6' of slack. They said they would give me 6' of slack. I explained why it absolutely had to be at least 5-6'. They gave me 3'. Now I have 40 network cables that aren't long enough to reach my networking equipment. I chalked this up to miscommunication between designer and builders. I referred someone to them, because as I said the techs were good and fixed all my issues, but it's been *several* months now and they won't honor their referral bonus after multiple attempts to communicate with them. But I just got a letter in the mail telling them that my credit card will expire soon, so they'll snap to attention when it's time to take my money but ignore me when I'm trying to get them to honor a simple, ~100$ bonus. We have had Home Pro since 2009 when we built a new home, however; the system hasn't worked for the past several months (unable to set alarm). Also, the fire symbol on the panel lights up and the alarm comes on for no reason. I called for service today; however, after staying on the phone for over 30 minutes to speak with someone and being passed from one person to another, I finally got the tech support person who was unprofessional, condescending, and said that it is not their system, it is my system and that it is out of date and they are not able to help me. They did not ever tell me that the system was out of date but let me keep paying for monitoring each month. I told the tech person that I was currently looking at the Home Pro panel that was installed by their company, and that it is their system that they installed. I would never never recommend Home Pro to anyone - we have been paying them for monitoring for years and didn't realize that we had a system that does not work. Buyer beware. We purchased a Elmwood home. Homepro was of course included with the pre-wiring for the house. We had to set up appointment with the Homepro salesman. Overall, we were sold security subscription and two cameras installed in the backyard and the garage. In my old house, I preferred the Google nest Wi-Fi system, and Google cameras with the Google doorbell as well. I contacted Homepro to see if we could get a refund within 30 days so that the cameras can be uninstalled and to cancel the security. I was informed that we are actually under a five-year contract that wasn't discussed or disclosed with us at the sales table. The salesman made it seem that we could cancel at any time, including the cameras if we weren't satisfied with the product. Overall, Homepro is a shady and sketchy company that will get you locked into a contract if anyone can reach out and contact me I would love to move forward and working out the solution. I really don't understand how you cannot get out of a contract or get the product refunded within a month after service. tech support team is absolutely terrible. it's pretty obvious. They're only job is to make the company more money by making a tech come fix problems they could help you fix themselves. They charge you hourly for someone to come out and fix things for you and they completely overcharged. It's especially frustrating when it's a very simple fix. This company is deceptive when selling and not conducting business in an ethical manner. Go to BBB(Better Business Bureau) and see all the complaints and reviews filed. There is even a note that due to the volume of complaints filed against this business, BBB only publishes the details for 50% of the total complaints filed. Btw, their BBB rating is A, not A+ as they claimed on the website. I signed a 3 years contract 5 years ago. Before signing the contract, I was concerned about the possible moving in the future, and specifically asked if I could cancel it if I need to move. I was told by the sales person(Michael S.) that I should be able to cancel, just call customer service. During the 5 years, they have never sent me any contract renewal notice. Now 5 years later, I am moving. I called today (1/2/2024) and was told that I am liable for the full year's bill for 2024, which the service hasn't been rendered at all. Their loyalty team/customer service was not trying to help, she argued that what the sales person told me was true that I could cancel, but I am just liable for the whole year's payment. Are you kidding me? Why not charge for the next 100 years? As a regular reasonable person, my moving schedule is determined by life circumstances. The flexibility to cancel was the premise for me to sign the contract in the first place. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. Signed a 3 year contract and after the 3rd year they AUTOMATICALLY renewed the contract for a whole year. No notification, no opportunity to disconnect, nothing. They want you to forget so that they can automatically renew and keep taking your money. Majorie Morales was completely unprofessional and downright rude when I called in. At one point in the conversation I had to tell Majorie to stop talking and having an attitude with me so she could hear what I was trying to tell her. She refused to give me her email and last name and also refused to give me her managers email address. She didn't want to transfer me to anyone else in the company and just kept loudly telling me that there was no one that I could talk to other than herself. I finally talked to Brandon in sales and he gave me Kedrick's information and had the best customer service of all. Brandon if you ever see this - run from this company and find a company where you will grow and teach others what customer service looks like. Kedrick did not call back promptly; it was midday of the next day. When asked to speak to a supervisor higher than him, I was not given a name nor any amount of time that it would be before I heard back from the "director". In fact, when I spoke to the representative to take my last payment, she said that the director was too busy to respond to me, had eme This business is small (apparently) and has the potential to do great things but with the shady business practices, lack of customer service training by frontline representatives, and sub par customer service skills from all others it will not have the success that it could achieve. Be careful with this company! They will lock you in on a contract for years with no way out unless you pay the full contract amount! I don't know any companies that do that anymore because of customer service. And.... You have to get a permit with the city for the police to respond and the monitoring to be any good. If you don't, your screwed with a worthless monitoring company and you just bleed money until your contract is up! Read you contract! Don't get screwed like I did! And when you loose your employment, they will not work with you... Update 1/22/24: I sold my house on Friday the 19th and they still will not close my account. They said that I have to buy out the whole contract. I don't even own the house anymore. Would you want to pay for something you don't own? I would find another company that will work with you especially in cases where you sell the home. I also filed a complaint with the BBB, along with the numerous other complaints that were filed with the BBB on HomePro. If I could tell the whole world I would, but I'll at least tell everyone I know and will make all the reviews I can. I will also file a complaint with the builder KB Homes for working with a contractor and installing a system that was already in the home and came with the house because it was a model. It should be KB Homes that is stuck with a contract, not their customer. If it was possible I would give no or negative stars. By far worst home "security" company I've ever had. I should have stayed with Vivint. As many have, we were duped into signing with this company upon closing on our new build. The salesman or scheister in this case failed to disclose accurate length of the contract term and didn't send the paper work until days later. Only to find out it's 5 years we are stuck with them. Lied about the quality of the service. Their cameras don't record per the settings. And when they do, it's not long enough video recording. If someone rings the doorbell by the time the app finally opens the person is gone and we have the fastest internet speed service available so connection is not the problem it's on HomePro and their terrible product. Recently both my doorbell and another exterior camera has completely stopped working, so naturally I called HomePro to get help on troubleshooting, well of course they were not able to trouble shoot either one of the cameras and to make it even sweeter, they can't get a tech out to me to repair or replace the devices for almost 3 weeks. What type of security company not have staff to get to a paying customer in a more timely manner to secure their property. But they sure take their money on the first of the month with delay every month. Do yourself a favor and run away from this company. "Customer Service" is non existent at this company and obviously they won't take care of you when you need them. How will they take care of your home?!? read more

I have has the worst experience with this security company. I was weaseled into a 5 year contract when i was told i was signing a one year contract. Our outside cameras and doorbell camera have never worked properly. We have paid several times for a technician to come and service our equipment and magically there is nothing ever wrong with the cameras while they are here. But they NEVER WORK! I would give this company zero stars if it was possible. They won't let us out of the contract, offer a prorated amount to pay it off early, or offer any assistance with our equipment unless we pay the additional service fee. if I could give HomePro a negative 100+ stars I would. subpar equipment, messy installation (the wired box looks like a rat's nest). The auto renewal on their contract is garbage. They should give you a courtesy email like honorable businesses do. They want 60 days notice. The guy who claims to be the owner who is responding with the call "Keldrick " is basically a bot. And Keldrick is rude and won't help you with any problems. He gets paid to tell you the problem is you. Something needs to be done to put a halt to this company's deceptive practices. A class action lawsuit might be fun. I don't care if I get anything from it, I want to put them out of business. You can file a complaint online with the Texas Attorney General's Office (a quick Google search will get you to the complaint page). And Keldrick, if you are reading this, I hope they pay you a lot of $$$ for being the guy who takes the numerous complaints...but I'm pretty sure HomePro's compensation to employees is laughable. ps...they either lied or keep crappy records. I told them our doorbell and camera didn't work but they said I called once. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! Sold my house, called to cancel. Was told services were canceled.... only to be billed still for months after..called back in was told that I needed to submit a form and I would be charged over $190 early cancellation fee..even though I sold the house and no longer live there HOME PRO won't let you out of your contract like every other company in the world does when you move! Home pro agent told me I would have needed to give 60 days notice 6 months ago before my contract auto renewed which would technically would have been 8 months ago... I would have to been able to predict the future that I was going to sell my house 8 months prior to selling it... This company will hold you hostage in a contract and never let you out even if you sell the property....TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE! AND THEY WONDER WHY I DON'T WANT HOME PRO AT MY NEW PROPERTY!!!! Do not use HomePro. 5 year contracts because they know as soon as you get a chance to get experience a local company like Smith Thompson you would never use HomePro. 5 year contract because they know they can't compete. If you are new to DFW, go with Smith Thompson. No contract. Cheaper monitoring monthly with same system. I'm stuck for 3 more years not knowing it was a 5 year contract. I've tried to cancel, in writing for the last three years. They pretend not to receive your cancellation, then autorenew your contract for another year, and then send you to collections if you dont pay. I've paid the last two years to protect my credit rating, but thought I was clear last year that I was done with them. Low and behold, another bill, another threat of collection agencies. Stay away from this company. Their business model is built around ripping people off and abuse of the credit agency system. They actually blocked the email from which I sent the cancellation form. They also apparently believe that if you refuse to speak to their retention department, that you intended to stay, regardless of the written cancellation. Next stop is Texas Attorney General. Somebody has to stop these predators. read more

This security system was installed July 5. It worked for two days. Next available service appointment was July 19. The panel was replaced and It worked for 7 days and quit again. Another appointment to install a Wi-Fi enhancer. The installer for that doesn't do security repairs. So he made another appointment for me for that. They can't make it today because the installer doesn't have time. I have taken off work 16 hours of vacation time for 4 appointments and this 'equipment' is not functioning. Now all of a sudden a Saturday appointment is available on the 12th. No one has ever mentioned that before. In the meantime they are charging me monthly monitoring fees. Apparently I will get charged for that whether the system is functioning or not. I have never encountered such shoddy and fraudulent business practices. Buyer beware. My next call will be to my lawyer. read more
