Home2 Suites has a good foundation but poor execution. I enjoyed the look and set up of the room. It had very bright colors and updated furniture and appliances. The hotel itself had a pleasant smell and was very quiet. When we first checked in we were shocked to find a very filthy toilet. We asked the front desk to send someone to clean it and they arrived promptly with no problem. Thinking all was well. When it came to getting ready to settle in for the night we found that the shower door was completely removed from the hinges and was actually leaning against the inside of the shower to stand! Not only is this extremely dangerous but it also indicates that the shower was not cleaned by housekeeping because if it was then we would've never been put in the room. With this, we were offered a new and upgraded room by the front desk. We were given a new key and asked to inspect the room before we moved our things. Everything was fine except for the air conditioning in the bedroom was broken. At this point it was 2a and we just turned up the air conditioner in the living room area and hoped for the best. Breakfast was offered until 10:30 on the weekend. The breakfast was alright. There was no fresh fruit offered which I think would've been a very good addition. Check out was easy... until we looked at the bill. They created additional charges for the new room we were moved to due to the fact that we were unable to shower in the previous room. read more

Prior Hilton diamond member , Gold now and on way to diamond before years end so I stay in a lot of hotels. This is in top 5 worst hotels I have stayed in, almost as bad as one in Baltimore. First room no a/c, carpet was soaking wet , see pic or moisture meter (had one for work) it was pegging out. Was moved to a new room, new room absolutely smelled like a dog kennel, no hot water at sink nothing at all comes out, then had to use the liquid dish soap to clean the shower out where I even felt it was somewhat sanitary since it had someone else's hairs all over wall and pubic hairs all over the floor. Absolutely disgusting and was never cleaned. Had it not been 11pm I would have immediately left to go find another hotel. read more

As a Hilton gold member that has stayed in many Hilton Home2 Suites around the country this one needs a revamp. It is musky, old feeling, scuffs on all of the walls, hard to push doors to open/close, and needs a serious deep clean. All corners from the elevators to the bathrooms are full of dirt/grim/hair. Scuffs everywhere and dirty floors. Our personal room had stains on the comforter and sheets. There were pills from a previous tenant between beds (thank goodness we found them before our child), and it was not well vacuumed or cleaned. Toilet had stains, hair on the floor, food in the sink, and even a washcloth left in the shower. Extremely dirty. We saw women in lingerie on our floor taking pictures for gosh knows what, the breakfast had little options and the eggs were HARD in the omelets from being over cooked or sat too long. Just disappointing for a special family time away. The pricing for this room was also insane to be honest after the experience. Not worth the stay. read more

This is the 3rd or 4th Home 2 I have stayed at. Checking in was time-consuming as staff had to check to make sure the room had been cleaned. I ended up going to a room that had not been serviced completely. When I got to the room there was a glass in the sink. There was a bar of soap on the bathroom sink. Countertops had not been cleaned. The room had an odor. Maintenance is an issue at this location. As far as I can tell, the staff just doesn't care about quality. I was just too tired to switch rooms. This location has a management problem. I have never been to a major brand hotel that was so problematic. Hilton needs to clean house at this location! read more

Check in after a long drive. Checked the room to make sure it had the essentials. No regular coffee. No silverware. Go to wash my hands and than use lotion and it was empty. My husband said his pillow smelled like mildew. Get up in the morning husband went to make the one package of coffee they found, coffee pot doesn't work. Also disposal did not work. So get dressed to go to lobby to get coffee and breakfast. I get bread and butter, husband and scrambled egg omelette. On our way back to the room,one of the workers comes running behind us and said you need to return the silverware back to the black bins when we are done? First of all we had no silverware. Than she said they only have so many plates? This is a Hilton? Upon checking out I asked to speak to a manager. The front desk clerk went in the back and said the manager was busy. Nice new hotel. Updated amenities. Room was spacious and clean. The kitchen area is great to have in the room. Appliances are new and worked well. The fitness room was good for general fitness. The treadmill needs calibrated, it would not go above 6 speed. The laundry area is clean and looked like it all worked fine. The breakfast area was awesome. Food was good but there was expired milk in the fridge. Coffee was not as hot as I would expect. The staff was overall friendly but there was nothing exceptional. Many hotels I always receive a greeting any time I pass someone, this hotel, not so much. Overall good for the value! read more

Staff were friendly, room was large and fairly clean, and the ac worked very well. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because there was a rag left hanging up on the shower rod (not fully sure if it was dirty or not, but it wasn't folded like it was clean), and the exterior doors do not work with the digital key. read more

While the room was clean, the bathroom had mold in the shower. Sink stopper was broken in bathroom. The water never got hot so we had to take a Luke warm shower. Breakfast , toaster was broken, hot cereal was not done at opening 6am. Only about 6 egg options were ready in total that consisted of 6 egg bowls. read more

I am writing to express my concern regarding the safety and treatment of guests at the Home2 Suites by Hilton location in Dothan, Alabama. My 9-year-old son and I checked in for one night at that property on Tuesday, November 28. We live about an hour away and since he had a holiday performance rehearsal on Tuesday and early show on Wednesday, we decided to stay in Dothan for a good night's rest. What we got was a troubling experience and sleepless night. At about 9:30 Tuesday night, my son and I were already in bed, but I had not quite dozed off when I heard the deadbolt lock to our room click and the door push open. The metal safety latch stopped the swing of the door and I raced to push it shut. There was a man outside the door wearing a tan beanie and tan jacket and he turned and walked in the opposite direction of the elevator. I locked the deadbolt on the door again and ran back to the nightstand to grab the telephone to call for help. I pressed the "front desk" button which did not dial the front desk. The concierge, housekeeping and other buttons were not in operation either. So, I dialed "0." I heard the phone pick up and I was immediately placed on hold with no human interaction. The hold music eventually ended, and my call ended. I dialed "0" again and heard someone pick up the phone and hang up. I dialed a third time, and no one answered. I grabbed my cell and called the number listed for the front desk and the front desk clerk answered the outside line. I asked to please not be put on hold or hung up on again and identified myself as a hotel guest in room 216. The clerk responded in a very defensive manner that no one had hung up on me and then told me my phone was off the hook and setting off an alarm at the desk. I responded that I heard "hold music" followed by being disconnected, but the bigger issue was that a man had just come in the locked room where my child and I were staying. The clerk responded that it wasn't possible for anyone else to have a key to my room unless I gave it to them and that no one else had checked in that room. I told her again, a man unlocked our door and opened it, but the metal safety latch prevented him from entering all the way. She said, "I'm not saying it didn't happen, just that no one has a key. But I'll come up there." The entire conversation made me feel as if I was fabricating the room entry and the unprofessional telephone interaction. At that time, I could see through the peep hole that the man walked by the door heading toward the elevators. I told the clerk what he was wearing, and she identified him as the hotel manager. She said she didn't know why he would be trying to come in our room at that time of night. Then she offered that he had a universal key and may have been checking on a new TV that had been recently placed in the room - that he probably didn't know we had checked in - but that he was the manager, and we were safe. That was the last interaction we had with staff during our stay. I felt anything but safe and stayed up most of the night so my child could sleep. I couldn't shake the feeling of panic, even though the clerk offered a plausible, but unconfirmed, explanation. I'm not sure if there is a protocol for a situation like this one, but I feel certain that even hotel management should knock before entering a room - especially at a time people would be sleeping. The person the clerk identified as a manager had no uniform or ID badge on, so even at this time I am not certain he was actually a manager. We chose this hotel as it was a Hilton property and as I was traveling with my son and without my husband, we believed it to be a safe location to rest. We won't be staying at that hotel again - but I do believe there should be training or discussions with the staff there regarding procedure, safety, and treatment of guests. read more

I arrived a couple hours early and went to the desk to ask if I could check in a little early. I'm a diamond member so usually it's not a problem. I requested a room on the top floor as I usually do and the lady said they did not have any clean rooms on the top floor but they were just starting to clean the room of my choice so it shouldn't be too long if I wanted to wait. She did say they had a few rooms on the third floor ready now but I chose to wait since she said it wouldn't be too long. After about 45 minutes of sitting in the lobby waiting the lady said my room was ready. I went up to the room , opened the door and there was a maid inside that asked me "do you know what's wrong with the sink ". I stuck my head in the door and the kitchen sink had fallen through the counter. I just looked at her and she said again do you know what's wrong with the sink, it just fell. I told her I was the guest and checking into my room. She asked me, what do you think would cause this? I said, poor construction? And I told her I was going to go back down to the front desk to see if I can get a different room. I went back down to the front desk and told them what happened and they found me another room on the top floor. They gave me the key I went up to the room and tried to open the door but it wouldn't open. The security latch in the inside of the room was closed onto the door. To me that meant that there was somebody in the room. I close the door and opened it again pushing harder and then yelled into the room "hello, is there anybody in here ". Nobody answered so I figured they're either not answering or there's someone dead in there. I left the door open for a minute and there was no foul odor so I figured it was the former. I went back down to the front desk and told the lady what happened she said there's nobody in there I'm gonna go check. She disappears for about 10 minutes and comes back and says "I can't get the door open ". I told her, I know that's why I came back down here and I told you the door won't open because of the security latch! She said I'll find you a different room. By this time I was almost ready to give up and go find another hotel. She gave me the key to another room on the top floor, I go up to the room open the door and go in and it's dirty. No towels, filthy room. I go back down to the desk and decided I'd give it one more try because I was so exhausted from traveling all day. She gave me the key to a room on the third floor which I don't usually stay on because I prefer top floor only. I go up to the room and open the door. The room smells a little moldy but I decided to stay as it wasn't too bad. I did notice the lock on the door was flashing red and green when I tried the key card but it didn't pay any attention to it after everything that had happened and the fact that I was exhausted from travel . I get up the next morning bright and early to go to work and as I'm leaving I notice somebody had tried to break into the room because the door jam was damaged. It look like someone had try to break in with a large screwdriver or some thing . I close the door and then turned the handle and the door opened! I slam the door closed again, turn the handle and the door opened!. That means I stayed all night in a room that the door didn't actually lock on. Now I was furious but I had to go to work because the work I do is out local hospitals helping people all around the country with complex systems they use in pharmacies and operating rooms so it was imperative that I go to work. The whole time I'm at work I'm worried about someone coming into the room and taking all my things . I did take everything of value with me in my backpack but I left my clothes, my expensive suitcase and all the food I had bought in the refrigerator. I worked as quickly as I could at the hospital so I could leave early. I booked a room at a different hotel because I had no intention of staying there in that hell hole any longer . As I was driving to the hotel to retrieve my things, I got a notice that my room at the new hotel was ready. I got to the hotel and retrieved all my things and then went down to the front desk and told the lady I'm checking out early. I told her that someone had tried to break into the room and broke the lock and that the door would not lock and I asked her if she remembered me from yesterday as it was the same woman that was helping me through the mess of the prior day. She said yes that she remembered me and apologized and I told her just check me out and I'm not paying any fine or fee for leaving early because it was after 12 PM and they charge you for that. I am a diamond member so they normally don't charge me even if I check out much later than that with no notice. I didn't wait for her answer I just left, she said I will go ahead and check you out sorry. They also ended up trying to charge me for a week! read more

It's the only pet friendly Hilton property in Dothan which is why we chose to stay here. It was our second stay and we won't stay here again. The top cover and towels are noticeable stained. The thin sheet was way small for a king bed. We did get replacements for the stained towels. One of the side doors was left propped open during the day and night and the night attendant didn't know why it was open and didn't shut it. The breakfast spread is decent. The heating and cooling units are subpar for a Hilton property. I suggest trying Marriott or Wyndham for pet friendly places to see if you get better stays than us. read more

Do not stay at this property. Our prepaid reservation has resulted in $1000 in credit card authorizations and charges over the stay and continuing after we left the property. General manager only available via email and staff at property is unwilling in most instances and incapable in others of providing any service. Our reservation was changed in the middle of our stay without us being told. Our reservation was canceled one night while we were sleeping. The night auditor has no idea how to perform his job and hung up on us multiple times when trying to find out why our reservation was canceled. Had to call Hilton corporate to have them walk the night auditor through how to get us back in the system. Have spent multiple hours on the phone trying to get the hotel to stop charging our card and fix our reservation. Pull out sofa was filthy and the soap dispensers were empty in all rooms. The fitness center did not have any wipes for the equipment available. Breakfast was sparse and didn't offer any milk or yogurt during our stay. read more

The "Home2 Guarantee" does not apply to this hotel! I reserved 2 rooms and both of them were extremely dirty. Finger prints, smudges throughout all surfaces, mold in the shower and disheveled bedding. One of the rooms had BUGS. The sad thing is that another guest overheard me complaining about the bugs and ask me if they had put us in room 212. She had just been moved out of that room and Management still put us in the room. I complained to the General Manager, James who has no empathy or customer service. I had to insist on being moved. There were no rooms that morning but James was to reserve a room for when we returned in the evening. He failed to let the front desk know so when I called back to make sure, I was told they were booked. I insisted that they call James and we ended up with a queen room which the TV was broken and there was no blow dryer. The next morning I went down to speak with James to discuss how he planned on adjusting my bill due to all the issues we had encountered. He refused to come out from behind his glass wall and sent his Assistant Manager who was very professional but not familiar with our experience. James was only willing to offer us 5,000 Hilton points which we declined. In the end they compensated us for the night we experienced the bugs. In addition, the cleaning staff was at the elevator talking about how bad things were and they did not blame someone from quitting and they were going to next. Then I was also told by the front desk that they had other rooms with King size beds but they did not have the cleaning staff to clean them. Don't waste your time, Dothan has plenty other options that want disappoint. In addition, I am still dealing with incorrect billing charges on my credit card. It was okay. Technology broken. If you need steps, this is your place. After checking in, I noticed there were no towels in the room. I called the desk, and the desk person apologized but said I could come down to the lobby and pick up towels since he couldn't leave the desk unattended. Well...apparently he could because when I got down there, he wasn't there but the towels were on the counter. Trip number 1. The next day, trips 2&3 since the card no longer opened my door. I asked if I should switch to a digital key. They said it would be worse. The next day...trips 4-10 to get the card activated. Like it was my life's goal to ride the elevator that many times. I was also told that I'm the only one with this problem. Not true though since some fellow travelers had the same issue. Eventually, they switched my room, but had to get a general manager to open my room. Currently sitting on the floor in the hallway...It will be a hard sell to get me to stay here again. read more

This place is new and, like any new establishment, will have a couple of problems initially. The first time I stayed here (their first night of operation) the microwave didn't work at breakfast. On another stay my television wasn't working. The staff has been very accommodating with those two issues and every time I come here. The location is nice, just minutes from many good restaurants. I called a travel club we joined for a room at the Home 2 Suite in Dothan. We came to see a holistic dentist. He is excellent! Travel company gives me 2 places to pick from for a pet friendly stay. Recommends the Hilton. I asked what the pet fee was, they call the Hilton and than tell me it is $125.00 but was told it is refundable if no damage after leaving. Because the travel Club tells me the room is nonrefundable, I decided to wait and book the day of, just encase of any issues arising. But I still decided to call the Hilton and double check that the pet deposit is refundable. The front desk confirmed the information was accurate. The day of arrival I called my Travel Club and booked the room. On arrival to hotel at 5:00 pm after a long day, I was told by front desk that the pet fee was in fact not refundable. I told them that I had double checked this information after the travel Club had check with front deck, and my booked room for the night at the Hilton was nonrefundable. They told me I could not stay if i wished. I repeated I have already paid for my room and it is non refundable. I asked to see the manager. The same thing was told to me from the manager, as the first front desk women stood behind the manager rolling her eyes and laughing. I said this is not funny, and she rolled he eyes again as I was the problem. I asked for the owners number and the manger would not give it to me.She said the room would be refunded and I asked if she would put this in writing. She said no. I went to the car and had my husband came in. The manager attitude changed and she told my husband I was being rude. I was so frustrated because I wasn't treated like a guest but an inconvenience.never was there an apology or trying to resolve the issue except I could stay with $125.00 pet fee or leave. The manager finally wrote on a small yellow sticky note that the room would be refunded but didn't sign or date it. When I asked her to sign and date it the other women once again rolled her eyes and laughed. We sat out in the parking lot for an hour, setting up another hotel room. It was New Years Eve so we were lucky to find a room. We got to our room at 7 PM, which was clear across the other side of town. We didn't eat dinner until 8:30 - 9:00. We had spent 5 hour on the road to get to Dothan that day, two hours at the dentist , two hours dealing with the rude women at the Hilton and finding another hotel and than having to go out to find something to eat. Finally at nine we were winding down. This was the most horrible hotel experience I have ever encountered. I have yet to find out if I will be reimbursed as I have to wait until January 2 to call my Travel Club. If I am not reimbursed, I will be adding to my review. My feelings are this: When anyone makes a mistake, they should go above and beyond to resolve the issue. The Hilton should have honored the mistake in my favor and compensated me with the $125.00 pet refundable if no damage was incurred as I was told. This business has much to learn on making guest feel welcome. I gave this hotel a 1 but would have given it a negative 10 if possible! Buyer beware with this place.. read more
