Wow! I forgot to review this wonderful restaurant. I was here on December 23, 2025, with my youngest granddaughter and friend, and again on April 7, 2026, with my family, to celebrate my Bday. The patio is full of gorgeous green plants and flowers. We felt like we were sitting in a garden. The inside appears to be a house, converted to a restaurant. It all kinds of unique and quirky decor. We were treated very special at both visits. The 1st time it started raining while we were seated on the patio, so they moved us inside and gave fresh everything. Our April visit, we were seated in an almost exclusive patio dining area, for 6 people. All of staff were lovely. We initially chose this place for the Bloody Mary's which are superb. Wow. What a surprise. One of the best restaurant dinners I have had in a while. Visiting from LA for the weekend. Super creative dishes, great farm to table flavors, and good value for large shareable portions. The all California, mostly local wine list is amazing, and great pricing with many bottles at $50-60. A few small flavor misses on our selections (habanero ice too spicy for the oysters, abalone taste a little lost in the excellent riff on cassoulet) Fun, quaint atmosphere eating outside in the garden. Very fresh food that is well prepared! Came with two friends and we shared two apps & two entrees. Started off strong with the crispy potatoes with green sauce which was freshly fried and very crispy indeed! The green sauce was light but paired really well with the potatoes. I loved how fluffy the interior of each potato was. We also had the steak tartar with house made potato chips. The potato chips were so light and thin, and the steak tartar was super soft and salty from the fish eggs. I almost forgot we were eating raw beef and thought it was raw fish. For entrees we had the lasagnette & beef cheek. The lasagnette's flavor was reminiscent of american chili. Not bad but not my favorite flavor. The beef cheek was my favorite dish of the night! Sooo tender and the sauce it was in was so buttery. The gnocchi it came with was really soft and almost tasted cheesy. The food was good and fresh, but I feel that every dish ran on the saltier side. I'd highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time for convenience. The place itself is so cozy and the vibes were so refreshing outdoors during sunset. The servers are attentive. I have been wanting to come to Home for years, but every time it would pop into my head to go for dinner it would be 7 PM the same day and their reservations only. Finally it came into my head when my in-laws asked me where I'd like to go for dinner for my birthday! It's a small quaint indoor restaurant but outdoors has a large patio with seating too! We were sat at the round table which was quiet and intimate. Everything we tried was fantastic, the starters we had were the foccacia. It wasn't warmed which I would've preferred but it was still fluffy and tasty and served with sea lettuce butter which definitely had a hint of garlic, which always makes things better ;). Who doesn't love garlic?! The other starter we tried was the asparagus, loved it! Would totally order again! The portions were perfect for sharing for 4 of us as well. My entree I ordered the beef check gnocchi, they make their pasta in house and this was so rich and freaking tasty! Absolutely similar to a short rib. 10/10 recommend!! My husband ordered the CA strip loin, cooked perfect medium served with a garlic aioli and crispy potatoes. I got to try his and his was equally fantastic! My mother in law ordered the rock cod crudo and she shared with me as well, the chili oil really came out in flavor in the dish, it was plated beautifully as well. I think this would be a great shared appetizer for groups too. Father in law got the fried chicken, and WOW - an entire HALF chicken! So large, local chicken, fresh and flavorful. Desserts we had the pistachio pana cotta and olive oil cake, the panna cotta was FANTASTIC. You should absolutely order this if you have room! The service could have been quicker, but she was still attentive overall dining time was about 2 hours which is long in my opinion and we could've ordered more beverages and upsold us but overall this place is a must try! So stoked to finally get to check out this place with some friends who have raved about it for years. Aptly named, the restaurant is super warm and welcoming. Very...homey. Overall, it was a good experience. My wife and I enjoyed the food. The service was very good as well. From the waiter to the buses, we got what we needed when we needed it. The waitress came back multiple times to ask us if we needed anything and how it was going. The one thing I would add to the experience is an umbrella for our table. If you haven't been there, you're seated outside and you get to enjoy all the elements. It was a little breezy and sunny on the afternoon that we went, and the sun was in both of our faces. I know they don't control the weather, but an umbrella may have helped keep the sun out of our eyes a little bit. Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable night out and the food was delicious. I see why it's called Home. It's a small restaurant with quaint decor that's cross between a ski lodge and rustic cabin. It feels warm and cozy. It's located in a neighborhood street amongst homes so we parked by houses. The service is the headline at this top tier establishment. You definitely feel like you're taken care of with the locally sourced produce and proteins that make up the rotating menu and the prime service. I wasn't sure what glass of white wine I wanted for the dishes we ordered, so instead of asking what characteristics I preferred, our server said, "You know what? I'm going to bring you a few glasses for you to taste!" She brought 3, which I was lukewarm about, so she didn't even hesitate to bring 2 more based on my comments. All this effort for one GLASS of wine. Now that's service. The food was wonderful. The 2 of us weren't very hungry so we shared an appetizer, 4 oysters, and a pasta (and substituted for gluten-free pasta). Then added dessert, obviously - haha. There were countless number of (very polite) check-ins from our server and other staff. Service was truly 5 stars! Dining at Home felt special, and I think it's a good choice for when you want to have a celebratory meal, date, or just a nice dinner with stellar service! Tip: We were allowed to make reservations, even for 2 people, so I suggest making reservations no matter what because the restaurant is small with only 2 small dining rooms and limited tables. read more

The food was pretty good. The service was terrible. We were celebrating our anniversary and decided to come here. We drove from San Jose just to eat here. My husband is pretty sure he requested indoor seating but we were seated outside. I needed to use the restroom and the hostess insisted that I could use the bathroom outside. Why? I don't know. It's terrible. I needed to go and the Bathroom was but a mere few steps away vs now having to further walk outside. I decided not to let this silly event bother me. My husband asked for wine it never came. It wasn't until I asked for mine and received mine that we had to remind the server. The server was selective on who he prioritized to wait on first. Attended a private event here and I am beyond impressed with everything. The name speaks for itself - it felt like I was walking into someone's Home & eating home cooked meals. Located in the town of Soquel, just minutes away from Santa Cruz. I believe this is a family run restaurant with a California coastal seasonal menu. The event was held in their garden. The set up was beautiful - long banquet style tables. Outside bar offered non-alcoholic bevs & a cash bar for wine & spirits. For starters they had a charcuterie board and oysters. They also made fresh wood fired pizzas from their outdoor oven. For the main event, everything was served family style. I can not choose a favorite because everything they served was unbelievably delicious. The seasonal veggies were amazing. The fried chicken was something to be remembered. Home is our go-to spot for date nights and special celebrations. We went last night to celebrate my grandmother's 90th birthday and were blown away by the food, service, and special tasting menu they were trying out for the first time. We were seated in the private wine cellar room where we didn't have to worry about our little ones running around and bothering other patrons. The tasting menu was superb! It is such a quaint space, so you really do feel like you're dining in someone's home, which I'm guessing this space might have been in a past life. Came here for a group holiday dinner and enjoyed tasting through a variety of the menu. We went family style, so while I wasn't able to try too much of anything, I was able to try a lot of different items. Our server Morgan was very patient with us as we took the time to catch up before deciding what we wanted to eat. To start we ordered the focaccia, charcuterie, cauliflower, pate, and the dungeness crab salad. I was thrilled to see crab on their menu since I know a lot of places haven't been able to get it. The salad was amazing, as was just about everything else. The only thing I didn't love was the pate, but I've only tried it a handful of times and it's not my favorite thing. Those at the table that do love pate, did love this pate. For pastas we went with the Pappardelle, bucatini carbonara, and squid ink orecchiette. The carbona seemed to be the favorite at the table, though I was partial to the squid ink pasta as it came with lots of big clams. The carbonara was super rich, so I was happy we were sharing this, still delicious of course. For meats we went with the fried chicken, pork chop, and beef cheeks. Everyone seemed to have different favorites for this category, though each dish got good reviews throughout. The skin on the chicken was pretty unbelievably crispy and perfect, while still being super juicy. The beef cheeks weren't as tender as I was expecting/hoping they'd be, but they were still full of good flavor, and I loved the gnocchi that came with it. And the pork chop, which was massive had quite a bit of meat and came with some delicious mushrooms. We ordered two of each dessert for the night, surprisingly enough the root beer cookie crunch semifreddo, which I expected to like the least, was actually my favorite, and seemed to be most of the table's favorite too. read more

Nothing that blew us away or anything like that but a solid meal with great service and awesome ambiance (plus points for the personal heaters) We stayed a night in capitola a few weekends ago and after doing some research I booked home for dinner. Stayed right next to the beach but this was less than a ten minute Uber. I got the lasagna and my husband got the fried chicken. we also started with the foccacia and herb butter. The only thing I didn't like is they charge extra for their special butter and won't provide any normal butter. Very silly but luckily I told them I had a stomach condition so they got me some anyway. The focaccia was meh, would def pass on it next time, nothing to write home about. The lasagna however was delicious! Half the noodle sheets are crisped up from being baked in a cast iron but the middle is juicy and delicious. 100% MUST. This was my first time here and I've already booked another reservation in 2 weeks. The ambiance is adorable and perfect. We sat out on the patio and the heaters made it very comfortable. Now to the important part...the food. I was BLOWN away by every single bite. We started with the fresh focaccia with butter and it was magical. Also treated ourselves to the oysters with the caviar and I literally did a happy dance it was so good! The halibut was perfectly cooked and seasoned beautifully. As the name implies, the restaurant is set up in a HOME. It has a very cozy, intimate Ambiance, perfect for a date/quiet dinner. All the staff were very friendly. I let my husband pick a dish for me since I wasn't sure what to get. I was very surprised and am still trying to remember the taste. Unfortunately idk the name of my dish but I think it has beef cheeks inside pasta and definitely some truffle oil. The sauce was divine and both the filling and pasta were perfectly cooked. It had a really great texture, almost like pate. I cleaned that plate and with the sauce! My husband was also trying to scoop up the sauce and said "man, I wish I knew how they made this". My husband loves cooking and perfecting his favorite dishes, so this was GOOD. For himself, he got the beef shank with a bone marrow. The sauce was also good but I think the beef shank was overcooked. It took longer to make and came out a bit tough to chew. Definitely a very special place to take a date! read more

Definitely want to try to book a reservation in advance, especially in the summer months. Definitely go for the "lawn seating" so you sit near the garden. Even if it's a little chilly, they have portable heaters to help keep you warm. The menu is well thought out and offers a decent variety without being overly complicated. The homemade bread and pasta is out of this world. That is what I come here for but I have yet to find something on the menu I didn't like. I also really appreciate the by the glass wine selection. I always get to try a local wine I haven't tried before. My sense is that they do a lot of work to source amazing local wines. The service is incredible. Everyone is polite and very attentive. Although expensive, and I wish the fried chicken were in pieces like normal instead of half a chicken, the breading and skin was amongst the best I have ever had. Amazingly crispy. As a shared app we had the Beet Risotto Fritter. What a concept and the flavors were off the charts. Savory with a hint of sweetness from the beets. Served on a bed of lentils. My friend had the pork chop which was very nice served with some Dungeness crab with blood oranges and a chili oil which was wonderful. With the chicken the had a Black Trumpet Aioli, and not being a mushroom fan I asked if the had anything else. The waitress asked the chef and he came up with a sauce for me which was good but I also told the waitress that I would be willing to try the Aioli. Never let it be said I'm not willing for try something even knowing I have never liked it and I'm 65, lol. It turned out to be wonderful. No overpowering mushroom taste. For dessert I had chocolate olive oil cake, and my friend had the chocolate mousse. Both were outstanding. If you drink decaf, get it. It was wonderful which isn't always the case with decaf. Served in a French press was wonderful. I will definitely go back to try some of their pastas. They looked delicious but I had my heart set on the chicken. This is probably one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Cruz. The first time I came here I was with a very large group of people and the service we received was great! Not only did our food come out quick but everyone's order was correct as well. Although it seems they change their menu quite often, I throughly enjoyed the Halibut dish I ordered and after trying others dishes, I just fell in love. The ambience of this restaurant is very calm and quiet and I just love that they turned a previous beautiful home into a successful restaurant! Wow! I just woke up thinking about the meal I had yesterday evening with my bro at Home. It had been a few years since I had been back. 1st tried it with a couple girlfriends and remembered getting the beef cheeks with gnocchi and knew that was what we needed to get again. Seasonal menu but you know if an item still remains after all these years, it's a goody. Started off with the focaccia and sea butter. Yum! Then had the beet and strawberry salad in a sesame dressing. So refreshing and the beets and strawberries were perfectly sweet and bursting with flavor. For our mains, we got the snap pea bucatini with duck in this amazing broth. The duck was rich, fatty and juicy with a nice crisp skin. The fresh snap peas and broth perfectly complemented the richness of the duck. And of course we got the beef cheeks which came with gnocchi in this heavenly creamy herby sauce. Just divine. To top the dinner off we got two desserts. Strawberry shortcake with a torched marshmallow fluff and the coffee panna cotta with pistachios. Ridiculous. My bro and I kept raving about the food with each bite. But not just the food, service and ambiance were great. Spring was springing in Home's backyard with its lush flowers, trees and herbs. The garden is so cute and the perfect setting for a sunny but crisp early evening dinner al fresco. And let me just say that we cleared every plate. We visited as a party of 4 on a slightly rainy night, so the patio backyard was out. The interior was warm and cozy, and the waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. We started with the focaccia and garden herb butter, and the chicken liver pate (gorgonzola, apple gastrique - not pictured) on the recommendation of 2 in our party who are regulars. Both were wonderful - the focaccia was soft, and the pate was creamy and delicious. We also had the panzanella salad (garden tomato, cucumber, red onion, golden balsamic vinaigrette, smoked blue - not pictured), which was nicely dressed, although the bread pieces could have been a bit smaller to make it easier to eat. Our mains were the campanelle and the squid ink orecchiete. The campanelle was very hearty, but real standout was the squid ink orecchiette, which had an incredible rich broth, dotted with crispy bits of pork belly and fresh clams. Dessert was the chocolate terrine and the panna cotta, which were both also wonderful endings to our meal. Overall, this might be the most Napa restaurant I've been to outside of Napa, without the Napa drive. Highly recommended! read more

I enjoyed such a memorable dining experience at Home last night with my boyfriend! My boyfriend took me to try Home to celebrate my birthday because of its wonderfully cozy and intimate atmosphere. We had a 7:45 reservation and sat outside in their beautiful garden area, where a portable heater kept us comfortable. Our server, Neil, was very kind and helpful. He checked on us often to ensure we were enjoying our food. Our appetizer, focaccia and sea lettuce butter, was delicious. The butter, which was served in an abalone shell, had amazing fresh flavor and complemented the focaccia. We ordered the squid ink orecchiette and beef cheeks for our main dishes. The squid ink orecchiette came with a lot of clams! The pasta had a pleasant al dente texture. All the elements of the dish worked well together-- savory clams and chili miso broth, salty and fatty pork belly, and crisp breadcrumbs. The beef cheeks were incredibly flavorful and so tender that we easily cut through the meat with a spoon. This dish came with pillowy, velvety gnocchi and was garnished with fresh edible flowers (which we recognized from the garden!). For dessert, we had the strawberry peach crisp with strawberry sorbet. The sorbet tasted like biting into a fresh strawberry. We enjoyed the contrast between the cold sorbet and warm crisp and peaches underneath. I can't wait to visit again to try their other dishes!
