Pistachio Panna Cotta

I have been wanting to come to Home for years, but every time it would pop into my head to go for dinner it would be 7 PM the same day and their reservations only. Finally it came into my head when my in-laws asked me where I'd like to go for dinner for my birthday! It's a small quaint indoor restaurant but outdoors has a large patio with seating too! We were sat at the round table which was quiet and intimate. Everything we tried was fantastic, the starters we had were the foccacia. It wasn't warmed which I would've preferred but it was still fluffy and tasty and served with sea lettuce butter which definitely had a hint of garlic, which always makes things better ;). Who doesn't love garlic?! The other starter we tried was the asparagus, loved it! Would totally order again! The portions were perfect for sharing for 4 of us as well. My entree I ordered the beef check gnocchi, they make their pasta in house and this was so rich and freaking tasty! Absolutely similar to a short rib. 10/10 recommend!! My husband ordered the CA strip loin, cooked perfect medium served with a garlic aioli and crispy potatoes. I got to try his and his was equally fantastic! My mother in law ordered the rock cod crudo and she shared with me as well, the chili oil really came out in flavor in the dish, it was plated beautifully as well. I think this would be a great shared appetizer for groups too. Father in law got the fried chicken, and WOW - an entire HALF chicken! So large, local chicken, fresh and flavorful. Desserts we had the pistachio pana cotta and olive oil cake, the panna cotta was FANTASTIC. You should absolutely order this if you have room! The service could have been quicker, but she was still attentive overall dining time was about 2 hours which is long in my opinion and we could've ordered more beverages and upsold us but overall this place is a must try! You will not be disappointed!

So stoked to finally get to check out this place with some friends who have raved about it for years. Aptly named, the restaurant is super warm and welcoming. Very...homey. The food was simply outstanding. The only section of the evening's menu from which we didn't order was the seafood. Focaccia with sea lettuce butter. Chicken liver pate. Chicory salad. Cauliflower with pine nuts and currants. Papardelle. Beef cheek. Pork chop. All. So. Good! Absolutely cannot wait to come back and try many more things!

I see why it's called Home. It's a small restaurant with quaint decor that's cross between a ski lodge and rustic cabin. It feels warm and cozy. It's located in a neighborhood street amongst homes so we parked by houses. The service is the headline at this top tier establishment. You definitely feel like you're taken care of with the locally sourced produce and proteins that make up the rotating menu and the prime service. I wasn't sure what glass of white wine I wanted for the dishes we ordered, so instead of asking what characteristics I preferred, our server said, "You know what? I'm going to bring you a few glasses for you to taste!" She brought 3, which I was lukewarm about, so she didn't even hesitate to bring 2 more based on my comments. All this effort for one GLASS of wine. Now that's service. The food was wonderful. The 2 of us weren't very hungry so we shared an appetizer, 4 oysters, and a pasta (and substituted for gluten-free pasta). Then added dessert, obviously - haha. There were countless number of (very polite) check-ins from our server and other staff. Service was truly 5 stars! Dining at Home felt special, and I think it's a good choice for when you want to have a celebratory meal, date, or just a nice dinner with stellar service! Tip: We were allowed to make reservations, even for 2 people, so I suggest making reservations no matter what because the restaurant is small with only 2 small dining rooms and limited tables.

This place is wonderful. True to the name, feels like you are at a dinner party at someone's warm home. Daily menu change, much appreciated to keep the food seasonal and fresh. To that, I'll share the menu but everything was delicious. Staff is very versed and passionate on their job, love that. Extensive wine list and drinks. Make a reservation and go!

tl;dr cozy place with heated outdoor patio, high end cuisine with occasional misses, menu changes frequently Two smallish rooms inside, heated patio, and some lawn seating. It gets a little chilly at night but the heaters work nicely. On to the food... Charcuterie plate: changes regularly. We had tasty pecorino, run-of-the-mill cheese, and good flatbread. Beet salad: more beets than salad. Pleasant but better for a warm summer eve Ricotta gnocchi: fine but not special Squid ink pasta: generous amount of clams with tender pork belly. Could use a bit of spice. Pear pana cotta: quite enjoyable. You don't have a dedicated server so it can be slightly confusing as to who to ask for help. Home is definitely enjoyable and homey, we left happy but maybe wanting a bit more

My favorite restaurant in the Santa Cruz area. Everything that we tried and tasted was incredibly fresh (so much so that you are able to walk through their working garden) and I appreciate their approach to seasonality. Service was great and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Also the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life, haha.

Absolutely divine! We had an amazing time, the food was so fresh and creative and the service was above and beyond. Can't wait to go back.

This restaurant is amazing! Using a farm to table concept, their menu changes every day based on what is local and in season. The restaurant has a beautiful home feeling and have lots of space for seating especially outdoor seating near the garden. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable especially with the daily changes in the menu. The food was fresh and delicious, I would definitely come back and try new items on their menu.

Walked in right at 5 pm and was seated in the back patio. Was craving a cocktail, but they only have beer and wine. What they do have is insanely delicious food with a beautiful atmosphere, and radiant service staff. Enjoyed the pumpkin/ bacon agnolotti, pork chop, and fried chicken. Each dish was absolutely unique and top notch. Compares or exceeds some of the higher end restaurants on the Peninsula and in SF.

Absolutely amazing. Service is always top notch, food spectacular, creative, innovative and very approachable. Such a warm and inviting atmosphere. Can't ask for anything more.

Attended a private event here and I am beyond impressed with everything. The name speaks for itself - it felt like I was walking into someone's Home & eating home cooked meals. Located in the town of Soquel, just minutes away from Santa Cruz. I believe this is a family run restaurant with a California coastal seasonal menu. The event was held in their garden. The set up was beautiful - long banquet style tables. Outside bar offered non-alcoholic bevs & a cash bar for wine & spirits. For starters they had a charcuterie board and oysters. They also made fresh wood fired pizzas from their outdoor oven. For the main event, everything was served family style. I can not choose a favorite because everything they served was unbelievably delicious. The seasonal veggies were amazing. The fried chicken was something to be remembered. We finished with dessert. 10 stars. I highly recommend this place. Great experience. Amazing food. Impeccable service. FYI: Street parking only & additional parking at the church across the street.

Great service and excellent food! The menu changes from time to time, which always makes for a pleasant surprise. The coffee and dessert were both outstanding, and our waitress, Chanel, was awesome--friendly and attentive. The back room is quiet and cozy, while the fireplace area at the front adds a warm touch. Noise levels depend on the crowd, but it's usually comfortable. Reservations are definitely recommended.

Love the concept of this place and you really couldn't go wrong with any of the food items. It's fresh, delicious, and truly feels like home.

I enjoy dining alone. How comfortable is it for a single diner?

I dined outside on the back lawn with a friend the other day. A man was dining alone at the table next to us. The staff knew him and his preferences, They were friendly and warm towards him. One started a conversation with him at his table and… Read more

What is the dress code?

Upscale casual. It's not a dressy place. Women would be comfortable in pants and a blouse or sweater. Men in slacks and any kind of shirt other than a tee.

Is this place kid friendly? Do they have a kids menu or is it geared toward an adult dinning experience?

HOME is totally kid friendly. I would consider it a family friendly Resto. Their menu selections appeal to both adults and kids. Nice wine selection for mom and dad!

Is there a corkage fee?

yes, we charged $25 per bottle. But if you buy a bottle from our list we will waive your corkage fee. one for one.

Is the outside heating enough on a chilly day to be able to sit outside or would it still be rather cold?

The heaters they provide can get pretty hot! But if you wanted to eat outside on a chillier day, I'd say you'd probably still want to keep your jacket on during the meal to be more comfortable. Otherwise probably best to eat inside!

Where is the best place to sit in the restaurant?

The best place to sit at HOME Restaurant depends on what you like. Indoor options depend on number in your party, but if you want more private dining you can request a table in the yellow room in the main dining room. If the weather is nice and… Read more

Cathy Bentley was the barista and she is also the very friendly and knowledgeable owner of their thriving business. They have excellent wines from prominent wineries in California. I liked the "Cheers" feel good vibe at the venue. They have big storefront windows and an outside patio. Yes, the dance floor and the patio are relatively small, so come early! I had a glass of the Hatcher, Murphys, 2022 Sauvignon Blanc. It was crisp, light to medium-body, and tasted fresh with a hint of almost green apples. As you can see on their menu they also serve craft beer and food. Something for everyone! So, on your next night out, come for the fun and enjoy the friendly atmosphere, live music, and your preference of beverage. Mine, obviously is white wine. You'd get a better "bang for your buck" if you get a glass of wine that you know you'd like. - Be ready to be social (at least a little) because you may need to share a table when there's a band. - As for food, tots are tasty, but portions are tiny. - Pizzas are your best bet if you're hungry. - Skip the paninis. We sat outside and had an incredible view of Capitola Beach. The service was slow throughout the meal, and one thing that stood out was that I never received a water refill the entire time we were there. It wasn't terrible service, but it definitely felt inattentive. I ordered the Seafood Fettuccine because I wanted something a little more filling. In hindsight, that's partly on me since seafood fettuccine isn't exactly a dish I usually expect to be exceptional anywhere. The Alfredo sauce was bland and needed a lot of pepper to bring some life to it. Most of the seafood was overcooked and chewy, particularly the fish. The clams were probably the best part of the dish and were cooked reasonably well. Overall, the view was fantastic, but beyond that, the meal didn't do much for me. Between the slow service and underwhelming food, this ended up being one of the worst meals I had on my trip.
