Gluten-free version of the squid pasta with pork belly and clams in miso

I see why it's called Home. It's a small restaurant with quaint decor that's cross between a ski lodge and rustic cabin. It feels warm and cozy. It's located in a neighborhood street amongst homes so we parked by houses. The service is the headline at this top tier establishment. You definitely feel like you're taken care of with the locally sourced produce and proteins that make up the rotating menu and the prime service. I wasn't sure what glass of white wine I wanted for the dishes we ordered, so instead of asking what characteristics I preferred, our server said, "You know what? I'm going to bring you a few glasses for you to taste!" She brought 3, which I was lukewarm about, so she didn't even hesitate to bring 2 more based on my comments. All this effort for one GLASS of wine. Now that's service. The food was wonderful. The 2 of us weren't very hungry so we shared an appetizer, 4 oysters, and a pasta (and substituted for gluten-free pasta). Then added dessert, obviously - haha. There were countless number of (very polite) check-ins from our server and other staff. Service was truly 5 stars! Dining at Home felt special, and I think it's a good choice for when you want to have a celebratory meal, date, or just a nice dinner with stellar service! Tip: We were allowed to make reservations, even for 2 people, so I suggest making reservations no matter what because the restaurant is small with only 2 small dining rooms and limited tables.

This place is wonderful. True to the name, feels like you are at a dinner party at someone's warm home. Daily menu change, much appreciated to keep the food seasonal and fresh. To that, I'll share the menu but everything was delicious. Staff is very versed and passionate on their job, love that. Extensive wine list and drinks. Make a reservation and go!

Absolutely divine! We had an amazing time, the food was so fresh and creative and the service was above and beyond. Can't wait to go back.

tl;dr cozy place with heated outdoor patio, high end cuisine with occasional misses, menu changes frequently Two smallish rooms inside, heated patio, and some lawn seating. It gets a little chilly at night but the heaters work nicely. On to the food... Charcuterie plate: changes regularly. We had tasty pecorino, run-of-the-mill cheese, and good flatbread. Beet salad: more beets than salad. Pleasant but better for a warm summer eve Ricotta gnocchi: fine but not special Squid ink pasta: generous amount of clams with tender pork belly. Could use a bit of spice. Pear pana cotta: quite enjoyable. You don't have a dedicated server so it can be slightly confusing as to who to ask for help. Home is definitely enjoyable and homey, we left happy but maybe wanting a bit more

This restaurant is amazing! Using a farm to table concept, their menu changes every day based on what is local and in season. The restaurant has a beautiful home feeling and have lots of space for seating especially outdoor seating near the garden. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable especially with the daily changes in the menu. The food was fresh and delicious, I would definitely come back and try new items on their menu.

Walked in right at 5 pm and was seated in the back patio. Was craving a cocktail, but they only have beer and wine. What they do have is insanely delicious food with a beautiful atmosphere, and radiant service staff. Enjoyed the pumpkin/ bacon agnolotti, pork chop, and fried chicken. Each dish was absolutely unique and top notch. Compares or exceeds some of the higher end restaurants on the Peninsula and in SF.

Great service and excellent food! The menu changes from time to time, which always makes for a pleasant surprise. The coffee and dessert were both outstanding, and our waitress, Chanel, was awesome--friendly and attentive. The back room is quiet and cozy, while the fireplace area at the front adds a warm touch. Noise levels depend on the crowd, but it's usually comfortable. Reservations are definitely recommended.

Attended a private event here and I am beyond impressed with everything. The name speaks for itself - it felt like I was walking into someone's Home & eating home cooked meals. Located in the town of Soquel, just minutes away from Santa Cruz. I believe this is a family run restaurant with a California coastal seasonal menu. The event was held in their garden. The set up was beautiful - long banquet style tables. Outside bar offered non-alcoholic bevs & a cash bar for wine & spirits. For starters they had a charcuterie board and oysters. They also made fresh wood fired pizzas from their outdoor oven. For the main event, everything was served family style. I can not choose a favorite because everything they served was unbelievably delicious. The seasonal veggies were amazing. The fried chicken was something to be remembered. We finished with dessert. 10 stars. I highly recommend this place. Great experience. Amazing food. Impeccable service. FYI: Street parking only & additional parking at the church across the street.

Love the concept of this place and you really couldn't go wrong with any of the food items. It's fresh, delicious, and truly feels like home.

Fantastic place & feels homey. The outdoor space is welcoming. The food was great & service top notch. We enjoyed our dinner while we visited Santa Cruz. One of the best restaurants we've tried in town.

Food, service, and atmosphere all made for a great experience dinging at Home. It is such a quaint space, so you really do feel like you're dining in someone's home, which I'm guessing this space might have been in a past life. Came here for a group holiday dinner and enjoyed tasting through a variety of the menu. We went family style, so while I wasn't able to try too much of anything, I was able to try a lot of different items. Our server Morgan was very patient with us as we took the time to catch up before deciding what we wanted to eat. To start we ordered the focaccia, charcuterie, cauliflower, pate, and the dungeness crab salad. I was thrilled to see crab on their menu since I know a lot of places haven't been able to get it. The salad was amazing, as was just about everything else. The only thing I didn't love was the pate, but I've only tried it a handful of times and it's not my favorite thing. Those at the table that do love pate, did love this pate. For pastas we went with the Pappardelle, bucatini carbonara, and squid ink orecchiette. The carbona seemed to be the favorite at the table, though I was partial to the squid ink pasta as it came with lots of big clams. The carbonara was super rich, so I was happy we were sharing this, still delicious of course. For meats we went with the fried chicken, pork chop, and beef cheeks. Everyone seemed to have different favorites for this category, though each dish got good reviews throughout. The skin on the chicken was pretty unbelievably crispy and perfect, while still being super juicy. The beef cheeks weren't as tender as I was expecting/hoping they'd be, but they were still full of good flavor, and I loved the gnocchi that came with it. And the pork chop, which was massive had quite a bit of meat and came with some delicious mushrooms. We ordered two of each dessert for the night, surprisingly enough the root beer cookie crunch semifreddo, which I expected to like the least, was actually my favorite, and seemed to be most of the table's favorite too.

    What is the dress code?

Upscale casual. It's not a dressy place. Women would be comfortable in pants and a blouse or sweater. Men in slacks and any kind of shirt other than a tee.

Is this place kid friendly? Do they have a kids menu or is it geared toward an adult dinning experience?

HOME is totally kid friendly. I would consider it a family friendly Resto. Their menu selections appeal to both adults and kids. Nice wine selection for mom and dad!

    Is there a corkage fee?

yes, we charged $25 per bottle. But if you buy a bottle from our list we will waive your corkage fee. one for one.

Is the outside heating enough on a chilly day to be able to sit outside or would it still be rather cold?

The heaters they provide can get pretty hot! But if you wanted to eat outside on a chillier day, I'd say you'd probably still want to keep your jacket on during the meal to be more comfortable. Otherwise probably best to eat inside!

Where is the best place to sit in the restaurant?

The best place to sit at HOME Restaurant depends on what you like. Indoor options depend on number in your party, but if you want more private dining you can request a table in the yellow room in the main dining room. If the weather is nice and… Read more
