    Carmelized Cauliflower Entree
    Michael V.

They have a rotating menu. We found out that it was changed on Saturday, 06/06/2026, as we were seated. Drinks - Hugo Spritz - 5/5: Citrus foward, with a mint finish, and a some bubbles in between. Extremely refreshing. - Paper Plane - 4.5/5: Balanced and smooth. Bourbon up front, not too sweet, and a bright finish. - Trestles Kitchen Beer Fund 10/5: This is to buy a round for the kitchen/staff. I love that management includes this on the menu. Starter - Tuna Tartare Tacos 4/5: The green apple is a nice touch, for which I had to revisit the menu to identify. The heat at the end was welcomed. Entrees - Carmelized Cauliflower 5/5: This dish was deligjtful! It was savory, with the nuttiness of the roasted cauliflower being enriched by the hazlenut and sesame, while the parsley and splashes of citrus added light freshness. The textures were a great mix of creamy with some crunch from whole garbinzo beans. - Brick Chicken 4/5: The chicken was buttery and well seasoned. It was moist, and the skin had a great crispness. The knock would be the polenta, which did not seem to be as seasoned or cheesey. Dessert - House "smore" 5/5: Decadent, rich, and a strike between sweet and savory. Our walk back was mostly a conversation about we should have ordered more. - Tiramisu Causcasian Cocktail 1/5: We would not get this again; it seemed like a lightly whipped creme over ice with a dash of nutmeg. The meal was really great, but the service was on another level. Shout out to Abbie who saw us taking pictures before we were seated and deduced what we were celebrating; it added to our excitement. Cecelia jnocked it out of the park with the recimmendations, and made sure that we were taken care of while letting us also have our personal space and time. The runner was also great, and we saw staff covering for one another. Between that and how the dishes were timed, the managememt and training was on full display. We are far from local, but look forward to returning.

    Crab Stuffed Squash Blossoms

It's been a while since we've visited Trestles. Our past experiences have been all over the map. However, tonight's dinner was a delight and I feel the need to update my review from a few years ago. We ordered... * Crab Stuffed Squash Blossoms -- Very yummy blossoms stuffed with a bit of crab, lightly battered and fried. Served over a potato and leek puree. * Brick Chicken -- A traditional Trestles favorite. The first time we had it here it was dry and somewhat bland. Tonight it was perfection. Tender, juicy, deboned half chicken with a nice crisp on the skin and drizzle of some caper salsa Verde topping. Served over a bed of pea shoots and polenta -- perfectly cooked. Everything about this dish was elevated and satisfying. * Wild Caught Local Salmon -- nicely grilled, served with romesco, corn, cherry tomatoes and arugula. Modest cut of fish, but perfectly prepared. Matt took great care of us. Friendly and attentive service. We look forward to coming back.

Perfect fine dining dinner spot off the main road to the cozy Capitola Corridor, worthwhile to enjoy a warmer summer and fall dinner with outdoor and indoor seating options. We came in off the recommendation of a local patron and it did not disappoint. Reservation recommended but we were able to get a walk in rez with about a 20 minute wait on a Saturday night. Our server Matt was super informative, suggested to ask for specials of the day to go off menu although the menu options are also great. We tried the fried green tomatoes (delicious), the eggplant labneh starter (so good) and shared the wagyu NY strip (wow - *off menu special). Presentation for everything was spectacular and very tasty with a variety of flavor. The desserts were also incredibly delectable. The s'mores cup was our favorite but don't sleep on the New York cheesecake with creme brûlée drizzle on top that added a welcomed texture to the classic dish. We wouldn't hesitate to come back

    Scallops + steak. Both BOMB.

It's been a couple of years since I wrote my first review and I thought I'd update it, although not much has changed (and that's a positive thing!) The staff continues to be so warm and kind. I recommend a reservation, always, but particularly here as the space is small. We had a protein-heavy dinner most recently and it was seriously the bomb. The hamachi appetizer was so freaking buttery smooth and tasty. That dish is perfection. We then had the melon and prosciutto and again, so tasty. I LOVE seeing that combination on menus. From there, we both ordered the red meat dishes (both different cuts of steak). I was delighted by the portion sizing as we can throw meat down, which we did. This continues to be one of my top favorite restaurants in the county.

Trestles located in adorable Capitola was a delicious meal and staff couldn't be nicer! Our dinner was done perfectly, nice wine selection, and everything was a pleasant dining experience. Would recommend!

The food is gorgeous, imaginative and excellently prepared. It has a great vibe and staff who are attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Wonderful restaurant for a fun, classy night out.

    Best pork belly ever!

This place is awesome! Highly recommend reservations as the dining area is small. But the food is fabulous and the service is just as good as the food. FOOD: We started with the pork belly which was honestly the best pork belly I've ever had and I've had quite a bit and I make it myself. Both crispy AND tender it was amazing served on a shallow bed of greens. I had the braised short rib with potato gnocchi and it literally fell apart it was so tender. The gnocchi was also the best ever and whatever reduction they served it with was so packed with flavor. My wife had the braised duck and again... amazing. Polenta was delicious too. And then dessert? You can already guess. SERVICE: Was out of this world. Our server was amazing and the hostess was terrific. The portions were terrific. And the plating was perfect. COST: Pricey but not for what you get. Very reasonable for a nice romantic dinner especially considering the quality of the food!

We are outside, they had the heaters on so it was nice and comfortable as we got to people watch. The staff was attentive and so sweet! Get the corn if they still have it, that was so darn good. I tend to enjoy vodka drinks but I switch it for tequila. They ended up making exactly what I wanted and working with me. GO HERE!

We love this restaurant because of the complexity of the flavor profiles of their dishes. While inside is too loud for our liking, sitting at the table outside is perfection. We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary here! The Borba Farms Potatoes & Trumpet Mushrooms, and the Pork Belly & Scallops were phenomenal. We also had the House Made Strozzapreti Pasta which was nice but it did not wow us. The staff was sweet for congratulating us on our anniversary and complimenting us with some champagne.

This is my favorite restaurant, and the only place that I've returned to 10+ times. We drive there from the Peninsula every few months just for it. The kitchen always delivers - every dish, especially the use of sauces, is full of creativity. This place reminds me that creativity doesn't only belong to restaurants with Michelin stars.

Met my friend's brother and his wife for dinner and it was simply lovely. The food was tasty and exactly as described, the surroundings were warm and inviting, and the service stellar!

Thank you for inquiring about our corkage fee, which is currently $30.00 per bottle.

    Are you open for Thanksgiving?

    We are closed for Thanksgiving

Is it kid friendly? Do they have dinner options for kids?

Hi Dolores! Yes we offer a kids menu which includes macaroni and cheese, butter pasta or chicken fingers and fries. The restaurant is kid friendly. We hope to see you soon!

    Do they have outside seating?

Yes! But, I was told they are first come first serve and can not be reserved

Can you bring your own bottle of wine? If so, what is the corkage fee?

Yes you can bring your own wine. Corkage fee is $25.00.

There is only beer and wine. But, I'm sure you could. I would recommend coming early or making a reservation

None of their entrees are listed as vegan. The menu does have everything listed whether it is vegan, gf... the squash blossoms and butter lettuce are and definitely worth it

Seems like a fairly limited menu. Do they also have nightly specials?

Yes they do, depending on what Chef Nick finds that is fresh and local.

While talking with the manager, the server justified the lack of timing because the food came from two different kitchens, however, he never tried to manage expectations. It was extremely disappointed that he felt it was acceptable to serve our main courses this far apart from each other. The best part of our experience was the setting of the patio/outdoor dining area. Now, I say "prawns" because apparently there was a little seafood identity crisis happening -- they were actually shrimp! Outside of that little prawn/shrimp confusion, everything was exceptionally good. The roasted chicken was delicious, the black rice was really good, but those black beans were FIIIIRRREEE! They had this amazing smoky flavor that I absolutely loved. Seriously, those beans were ridiculously good. The Linguine Cruise was also excellent, and even though my "prawns" turned out to be shrimp, they were still damn good! The exterior doesn't do the restaurant justice. Inside, the dining room and patios are beautifully decorated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. There's plenty of space for both small and mid-sized groups. The food was fabulous! We started with the calamari, which was honestly some of the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also ordered the seasonal Caprese (tomato stack) salad, which was incredibly fresh with a wonderful combination of flavors. Even the complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar stood out. The balsamic was so good I forgot to ask what brand they use so I could buy some for home! Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful. When I ordered the fettuccine with steak, she thoughtfully confirmed whether I wanted the Gorgonzola Alfredo or the traditional Alfredo sauce. I chose the traditional Alfredo, and it was absolutely perfect. I shared it with my daughter, so the photo shows about half of the original portion. Everyone at our table loved their meals. The rotisserie chicken received rave reviews as well, although I forgot to take a photo. If the weather is nice, don't miss the outdoor patios. There's a table for six near the fireplace that looked especially inviting. I wanted to take a picture, but I couldn't get the angle without including other diners in the frame. I also tried the watermelon martini, which was refreshing and delicious, and the wine pours were generous. If you're in Aptos, this restaurant is absolutely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back.

In hindsight, that's partly on me since seafood fettuccine isn't exactly a dish I usually expect to be exceptional anywhere. The Alfredo sauce was bland and needed a lot of pepper to bring some life to it. Most of the seafood was overcooked and chewy, particularly the fish. The clams were probably the best part of the dish and were cooked reasonably well. Overall, the view was fantastic, but beyond that, the meal didn't do much for me. Loved the bright windows, open concept, clean aesthetic with seaside color vibe, and the VIEW!…read moreThere is a reason half the walls are glass: so you get a view of the beach and, depending on when you're there, the sunset. Venus is a fine dining establishment but the wait times for service once we were seated and cold service were unexpected at such a nice place. This was our first time here, so hopefully we caught this server on a bad day. She also brought out our appetizers and entree at the same time, which was shocking. Due to this, we felt like we had to eat quickly so the entree didn't get cold. We often order several plates and share all the time, and never has any other restaurant brought every dish out at once before! This was the first. **THE DETAILS** Venue: 5 stars The venue is quite beautiful. You can't beat a place that is on the same street as a beach! Location: 5 stars It is literally AT Rio Del Mar Beach! Parking wasn't terrible, but the lot is tiny, so I can see it becoming difficult to park at certain times. Crab coquettes: 1 star It was so dry, I couldn't even finish one of them. It was hard to eat. Also, you can smell the crab, but you don't taste it. I did appreciate that our server gave us a heads up that these coquettes are not made like crab cakes, but we still didn't know this was a red flag warning to not get them. (Consider this a warning, my friends!) Instruction for eating: each bite must be followed by 3 gulps of beverage. Calamari: 2 stars I looooove calamari, but the ratio of squid-to-batter was off. There was too much batter, and it was thick and over-fried that with each bite, you don't get to enjoy the squid. If you want something crunchy and salty though, this appetizer is it. Miso salmon over coconut rice: 3 stars The salmon was tender and flaky, and cooked well. The skin was crunchy and flavorful. The coconut rice, however, was very mushy, like it was cooked with too much liquid. This was a disappointment because we ordered the miso flavors of the salmon knowing it would pair well with the coconut rice, but the texture of the rice was that of baby food. The bok choy was fresh and added a brightness to the dish. All in all, it was an okay dish, but not for something costing over $30. Cocktails: 5 stars All were delicious. (Venus makes their own gin!) Service: 1 star Slowwwww like molasses. Other than seating us, which was an our fault for not having reservations, we had to wait over 15 mins for a server to acknowledge we existed, then another 15 mins to get water after she said she was going to bring us water. It was a hot day, and there was no breeze or air conditioning in the restaurant, so I mentioned to our server that I was very thirsty, but we sat there for 30 minutes at an empty table with just our menus. It was perplexing. Like I mentioned earlier, the appetizers and entree were all brought out together, which made us feel rushed to eat faster so the food wouldn't get cold. (The server should have asked if that's how we'd prefer to be served and not assume this.) Different people, not only our server, would place items on our table, like drinks, and each person did it without saying anything and without smiling. They also placed items down on the table startlingly hard. (I made a joke to my friend that they don't like us here the first time it happened, but when this happened multiple times, it was no longer funny.) **OVERALL** I think the scene is great (venue/location) and drinks are great. The food items can be hit or miss. The vibe, however, is what YOU make of it because the service is lacking. Table service needs re-training. I think Venus is a good place to go for the bar and maybe some bar food only.

We liked the charcuterie board and Kobe beef sliders so much that we ordered them on two separate occasions. At breakfast, the pancakes were delicious, as was the lox and bagel. At lunch, the salmon salad was wonderful. We also had a few of their drink specials, and each was delicious, refreshing, and fun. We loved the sticky toffee cake so much we ordered it several times! We also greatly enjoyed the Father's Day breakfast buffet, which offered many tasty options, including eggs Benedict, pancakes with fresh strawberries and blueberries, tri-tip from the carving station, and a variety of delicious desserts. It was also a very good value. Most of our meals were on the wonderful outdoor patios, which had plenty of shaded seating, outdoor heaters when needed, and beautiful views of the forest and Monterey Bay in the distance. The wait staff and bartenders were always friendly and attentive. Our only complaint is that the restaurant could use more staff. There were a few times when we waited longer than we would have liked to place our order, but it was clear that the staff on hand were working very hard, and it was no fault of theirs. We highly recommend The View!
