Wow! I just woke up thinking about the meal I had yesterday evening with my bro at Home. It had been a few years since I had been back. 1st tried it with a couple girlfriends and remembered getting the beef cheeks with gnocchi and knew that was what we needed to get again. Seasonal menu but you know if an item still remains after all these years, it's a goody. Started off with the focaccia and sea butter. Yum! Then had the beet and strawberry salad in a sesame dressing. So refreshing and the beets and strawberries were perfectly sweet and bursting with flavor. For our mains, we got the snap pea bucatini with duck in this amazing broth. The duck was rich, fatty and juicy with a nice crisp skin. The fresh snap peas and broth perfectly complemented the richness of the duck. And of course we got the beef cheeks which came with gnocchi in this heavenly creamy herby sauce. Just divine. To top the dinner off we got two desserts. Strawberry shortcake with a torched marshmallow fluff and the coffee panna cotta with pistachios. Ridiculous. My bro and I kept raving about the food with each bite. But not just the food, service and ambiance were great. Spring was springing in Home's backyard with its lush flowers, trees and herbs. The garden is so cute and the perfect setting for a sunny but crisp early evening dinner al fresco. And let me just say that we cleared every plate. Although expensive, and I wish the fried chicken were in pieces like normal instead of half a chicken, the breading and skin was amongst the best I have ever had. Amazingly crispy. As a shared app we had the Beet Risotto Fritter. What a concept and the flavors were off the charts. Savory with a hint of sweetness from the beets. Served on a bed of lentils. My friend had the pork chop which was very nice served with some Dungeness crab with blood oranges and a chili oil which was wonderful. With the chicken the had a Black Trumpet Aioli, and not being a mushroom fan I asked if the had anything else. The waitress asked the chef and he came up with a sauce for me which was good but I also told the waitress that I would be willing to try the Aioli. Never let it be said I'm not willing for try something even knowing I have never liked it and I'm 65, lol. It turned out to be wonderful. No overpowering mushroom taste. For dessert I had chocolate olive oil cake, and my friend had the chocolate mousse. Both were outstanding. If you drink decaf, get it. It was wonderful which isn't always the case with decaf. Served in a French press was wonderful. I will definitely go back to try some of their pastas. They looked delicious but I had my heart set on the chicken. So happy I was able to experience this restaurant! The ambiance was so nice and homey, hence the name home! We sat outside and I would say that you need to ask for a heater if not it is very cold! The indoor seating was fully booked even when we asked to change our outdoor reservation to indoor so make sure to plan ahead. We got to look into their garden which was so beautiful and they said they use a lot of the fresh herbs and vegetables in their dishes. The food was so flavorful and didn't leave you feeling lethargic it left you feeling fresh and satisfied! I love the little touches they have like the shell for the pesto butter and the fresh flowers as there center pieces. It is a bit pricey but I would say it's worth it! read more

I enjoyed such a memorable dining experience at Home last night with my boyfriend! My boyfriend took me to try Home to celebrate my birthday because of its wonderfully cozy and intimate atmosphere. We had a 7:45 reservation and sat outside in their beautiful garden area, where a portable heater kept us comfortable. Our server, Neil, was very kind and helpful. He checked on us often to ensure we were enjoying our food. Our appetizer, focaccia and sea lettuce butter, was delicious. The butter, which was served in an abalone shell, had amazing fresh flavor and complemented the focaccia. We ordered the squid ink orecchiette and beef cheeks for our main dishes. The squid ink orecchiette came with a lot of clams! The pasta had a pleasant al dente texture. All the elements of the dish worked well together-- savory clams and chili miso broth, salty and fatty pork belly, and crisp breadcrumbs. The beef cheeks were incredibly flavorful and so tender that we easily cut through the meat with a spoon. This dish came with pillowy, velvety gnocchi and was garnished with fresh edible flowers (which we recognized from the garden!). For dessert, we had the strawberry peach crisp with strawberry sorbet. The sorbet tasted like biting into a fresh strawberry. We enjoyed the contrast between the cold sorbet and warm crisp and peaches underneath. I can't wait to visit again to try their other dishes! Was able to get a table at Home to celebrate my fiance's birthday. All the pasta dishes we had were fantastic. The uni in my carbonara just made the dish so decadent--it made me wish for a second serving. The squid ink pasta was so good too! We had a hard time choosing which dish was our favorite. It's a great little date night spot. What kind of turned us off was the service. Although our waitress was nice, it seemed as if she forgot about us. It took a while to get refills or to even ask for a desert menu, and it took a really long time to get the check. We were seated in the patio area with just one other couple who also looked as if they were waiting a while for service too. I'd recommend coming here just to try their dishes, but maybe come on a less busy day to get better service. read more

I'm a local and Home is where you go when you want the best food in the County in a quaint and beautiful setting, but also when you have hours to spare. Home's service leaves so much to be desired, every damn time. My gf's and I went on Sunday evening and were there for almost three hours. Our waitress started off strong but then just stopped checking on our small group of 3. We saw her tending to other patrons and give them their checks, but failed to tend to our group. All we wanted was more wine! I had to flag down an employee who brought dishes and cleaned up after guests to take our drink order. She did so with a smile on her face, thank you Devin. What I find to be most amusing is the owners came for dinner when we were there, and were waited on like Gods. Wish your normal patrons that keep you afloat would get the same treatment. read more

Celebrating my birthday on the evening of December 4 , 2025, my husband and I had a glass of wine before arriving - so my husband ordered a glass of beer and I said I would taste his and decide if I wanted something similar. We started with cauliflower, pine nut, current and chili - the current was so overcooked it tasted like mushed black beans. The salad- baby lettuce, pomegranate, fennel, walnuts and smoked blue was wonderful. Noting that no silverware was changed out after the salad though - (yes, we do change our silverware even at home!) My husband husband's meal, cheeks: ricotta gnocchi, gorgonzola kale .. . Had a great taste, but the meat tasted more like 3 blade chuck rather than cheeks! My meal, black cod filet: parsnip risotto, maitake & chanterelles, . . . was so salted, I ate only two bites. No one ever checked on us during our meal, but came around to collect my husband's plate and ask if we wanted a dessert. We declined. read more

The overall ambiance was very gorgeous. We were sat in the backyard and the servers offered some heaters and blankets to help keep warm which was a nice touch. However, the food and service were not as up to standard as I would have expected. Our server forgot to put in one of our appetizers which we had to remind them of. There was a point during our dinner when three different people came up to us in the span of abut five minutes to check in if we were finished eating so I felt a little bit rushed. Our server also pulled out the dessert menu from her apron and which was a little crumpled and had some oil stains on it. I didn't mind too much but it felt a little unprofessional. Homemade focaccia was not freshly baked but rather cold and seemed a tad stale but the butter was flavorful which helped balance it out. Food menu changes quite frequently but for the charcuterie we got the pork shoulder and pork pressed head. Shoulder was very delicious along with the cracker and jam. Cheese was standard. The pressed head was on the drier side although the glaze underneath seemed to compensate for it somewhat. The crackers that came with the head were extremely salty we barely touched it. For mains we had the pappardelle which wasn't anything special and the orecchiette which was flavorful but we didn't eat the pork belly that came with it as it was too salty and the flavor of pork overpowered the rest of the dish and did not complement the seafood base of squid/clam in a cohesive manner. The dessert we ordered was an apple crumble dish with vanilla ice cream. While this one was freshly baked, the small dollop of ice cream melted all into the dish before we could take a second bite so we didn't experience the wonderful combination of the warm crumble with cold vanilla ice cream one would have expected. It would have been better to let the crumble cool down slightly before the addition of the ice cream as it was piping hot. All in all, it was just okay :) read more

We loved eating here. We sat outdoors in January and they had blankets and heaters, and we were both nice and toasty after a couple minutes. The service was excellent-- Lucy was friendly, knowledgeable, and we both felt comfortable asking all the questions. Unlike a lot of other places in Santa Cruz, the staff here didn't seem pretentious. My partner tried an experimental soup that had question marks for the price "(you pay what you think you should pay)", and enjoyed it. We also really loved the cauliflower, with currants, pine nuts, and lemon, and each bite was addicting. So good with focaccia for the leftover bits. I really liked my lasagnette. We also tried the bone marrow, to be adventurous. The sauce and extras it came with were yummy, and I'm glad I tried it. For dessert we had the lime cheesecake (yum! And definitely ate the oat walnut crust at the bottom!), and sipped tea before heading home to the kid-sitter. Sitting outside was definitely worth it, and there's a single restroom as well you can directly access. The lights are pretty, and there's more room between tables. It feels more like eating out in the countryside or at a winery. read more

The staff was very friendly and service was prompt but the food was just too salty. The yellowtail lacked any sort of crust likely caused by a pan that wasn't hot enough. The sauce with the fish was very good though. The bolognese was good, but the flavor was drowned out by salt. My kids ordered the kids marinara pasta. Neither would eat it and they replaced it with the buttered pasta instead. That was very good. Reminded my wife of her mom's homemade pasta she had as a girl growing up in Latvia. I don't understand any negative reviews. Like another reviewer, I had Pappardelle and it was amazing. When it arrived it didn't look like a huge serving but it is so heavy on the delicious braised pork that it is very filling. My husband had the single cut pork chop and it was HUGE! All the flavors are fully developed and the menu choices are pretty unusual. The staff is very well informed and can help with any questions you have. Service was attentive but not overly so. The people we spoke to from the front on were cheerful and friendly. The restaurant is aptly named because it was obviously a home at some time. Even though it is all restaurant, it has a homey feel. We were quite pleased with everything except the homemade soda, which was okay but not exceptional. read more

This place was a hidden GEM! I came with a few friends - make a reservation for sure otherwise it'll be difficult to be seated - overheard them tell someone on the phone that their next available reservation was 2 weeks out. They have such a simple but impactful menu. I don't think there is anything bad you could have gotten on there and we absolutely loved everything we ordered. It was all so fresh and had so much flavor! They do have a wine list as well. Service was amazing and the ambiance at this restaurant is unparalleled. There is an entire garden where they do harvest from to integrate into their foods - true farm to fork! You can take a little walk down there and at the end are even some bunnies to visit! There is outside and inside dining, and for outside they did provide heat lamps to keep us comfortable per table. Parking was a little tricky, as when we got there it seems like it was street parking only. However, when we asked, they partnered with the church across the street so there is an entire parking lot which made parking such a breeze! Went here for my birthday with the hubby. Everything was amazing! We got two appetizers - the beets and the crab salad. Both were refreshing and light - perfect for appetizers. The crab salad had large chunks of crab and a little spice from the chili oil. You can see how beautiful it was in the photos attached. My husband ordered the Fogline Chicken which was 1/2 of a bird - fried chicken. It's a BIG portion - and he really enjoyed it. Very crispy. I ordered the gnocchi with pork ragu and it was DIVINE! The gnocchi were pillowing but had enough body to hold up to the ragu. The ragu was very rich - glad the appetizers were light. It was also a large portion and I could only eat half - but I was happy to have leftovers! I definitely recommend the gnocchi and will go back specifically for that dish again! Our server was really friendly, fun and very professional. The food was amazing. I would visit multiple times a week if I could. I had the cannelloni and it was traditional light delicious with perfect texture. My husband had the abalone cassoulet. It was very creative and interesting and he really enjoyed it. We also had asparagus and it was delicious. It is a nice restaurant so the prices were consistent with it being a place to go for a very special dinner. It was worth every penny. We had high expectations for this place, considering some of the write ups and reviews we've read. But we were pretty disappointed with the overly saltiness of all the dishes. We ordered: Focaccia - was good. Sea lettuce butter - also good. Pate - waaay salty. the blue cheese it was topped with overpowered the pate and I couldn't even taste it. Also the cracker had too much salt too and didn't need it. Beet salad - totally fine. Nothing special. Needed a little more greens though. Lasagnette - very salty and not enough sauce. It felt one note. Nothing bright or acidic to cut through the heavy creamy bechamel and the beef. Beef loin - super salty and nothing to balance the dish as a whole. Couldn't really taste the beef itself because all I could taste is the salty surface. Could have used way less salt and some sort of a pickled side to help cut the heaviness of the beef and potatoes. Orange chocolate torte - It came with a persimmon sorbet which was interesting with its Indian spices. But the dish as a whole didn't really combine very well and the cake was super dry. Service - just ok, although it took a while for us to order after we got the menu, they forgot to bring us a replacement fork even though we asked for one after our kid dropped it, and my drink was empty for a long time before I got to order another. I wouldn't normally complain about these things but considering the price point of the meal, I expect much sharper attentiveness from the servers. Overall, it was disappointing that while the restaurant touts how it showcases local ingredients, most of the flavor was drowned in its saltiness. read more

Home restaurant is literally located in a house on a partially residential street. You can reserve a table inside or in a specific outdoor location. We reserved for the back patio. Parking is on the street. When we were taken to our table, no one else was yet seated out back. The table we were given was in the sun and I asked if we could have a shady table instead. Rather than move us, they set up an umbrella that blocked the worst of the sun. I was pleased that they are prepared with those umbrellas! The setting on the back patio reminded me of the town of Sonoma. There is a casual, rustic, "homey," vibe. We saw kitchen staff going from the kitchen out to the garden and back, so garden to table is very real at this restaurant! The menu changes daily, but there were a lot of options. We started with an order of the HOMEmade focaccia and marigold butter. We shared an order of marinated beets and an order of halibut crudo. We then had our own main courses--I had ravioli stuffed with beef cheek and ricotta and my husband had agnolotti with smoked halibut. All of the food was beautifully presented. It is the kind of food that you sit and talk about in terms of the flavors and all of the little elements they have combined in each dish. There were little things I might have changed in some of the dishes, but they were all tasty and satisfying. Our server was welcoming and friendly. There was some rush to clear a plate before both people were finished. For example, my husband's plate was cleared and the dessert menu given when I still had a lot of ravioli left. None of that took away from the overall experience, though. Home is serving fine dining in a casual, rustic "home" setting. They are mastering both the comfortable atmosphere and the fresh, imaginative, delicious food. We brought our own wine--corkage is $25. Corkage and all of our food was $131. The total felt comparable to other local fine dining restaurants, but the food felt superior to those other establishments. Note: Traffic on Highway 1 South is a nightmare M-F, so give yourself plenty of time if you are taking the highway. read more

My husband and I had an incredible date night there. We literally tried almost everything on the menu. Our tummies were so full when we left, but we enjoyed it thoroughly. First, we started with some amazingly fresh oysters served with Serrano pepper flavored shaved ice. Next, we had two delightful salads one was beets and fennel, and the other was a crab salad, which I feel could be served in any Michellin starred restaurant. It was incredible. I had the gluten-free fried chicken for my entrée and my husband had a squid ink pasta and bith were fantastic. I super appreciated that they use gluten-free breading as well since I have a gluten intolerance. We had some excellent wine suggestions from our server and we finished our meal out with an amazing crème brûlée that was one of the best I've ever had. I really look forward to going back there for another fancy date night. I would recommend this as one of my top three restaurants in the greater Santa Cruz area for sure. read more

(5/5) The herb and garlic butter with foccacia was very good, whipped airy butter, great foccacia. If it was warm this gets a 5. (4/5) Squid Ink Orecchiette - Pasta was tasty and cooked absolutely perfectly, the clams and pork were excellent, but it had an overly briny aftertaste that kept it from being superb. (4/5) Gnocchi - the most pillowy soft and fluffy gnocchi I've ever had, honestly just incredible. Here's the disappointing part: - the oysters were fresh but just okay - the salad was flavorful but more of a slaw, made from cabbage - both pasta dishes were undercooked, the clams and pork belly overcooked, and excessively salty, particularly the ravioli, to the point that it was impalpable - the duck was cooked to perfection but also too salty Would we return?
