From the creators of TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, Marshall's, and a few others- Home Sense is born. This place is tucked way in the back and not far from the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers. And if you thought you saw it all at TJ Maxx and the gang, Home Sense is freaking overkill. Seriously though, after Pathmark fizzled out, Home Sense took up the old space and transformed it into your home destination. The space still kept that warehouse look but it's dressed up with aisles upon aisles with big looks. The goal here is to offer folks not only just "a few pillows on the shelf"- you're getting almost every color and every size! I was actually hunting for last-minute Mother's Day gifts and a few pieces to spruce up my home. Prices aren't that much cheaper- but they're definitely more doable- than let's say...West Elm or Crate & Barrel (though I like them both). But listen...if you're into that whole funky and natural look HomeGoods already has- Home Sense can take care of that too.

So if I "love it" I can just have it? Awesome.....

Not a bad option in the area, though if you've frequented Home Goods and the like, you already know what to basically expect. When the large Pathmark closed down, there was a lot of speculation and rumors over what would take over this space. Home Sense was the big winner (along with the new Marshalls right next door). The store opened up within the last 2 weeks, so all looks neat and clean for now. They do have a pretty good variety as far as home selections go - but they range. Some things are quite nice and items that I'd buy - others are on the tacky end, but this wouldn't be the only store to sell such things. A few times in here I thought I was in Pier One (which has a lot of such tacky items), but it's really not bad and again, a good option in the area. They do have plenty of variety, but the prices range. I thought some of the items here were priced a little high, but someone might think otherwise. The employees ranged - some were the typical Marshals/Home Goods/TJ Max type, while others did seem to make an effort to be friendly. I don't care to be asked if I need help while shopping, but I understand why they're supposed to and I was asked at least twice. Others seemed to go out of their way to make as little eye contact with the customers as possible. Being new, the store was bustling with people. It was also a Sunday an hour before close, so I would imagine this is the norm. Parking lot is huge - while a lot of people will park as close to the store as possible, if you don't mind walking a few extra feet you'll be sure to find a space. This place shares the space with a lot of businesses in the area, but there is ample parking for all. All in all a decent enough shopping option for the area and worth checking out. I'll be back at some point and may or may not change my opinion about this location.

One cashier at Home sense. I get it, it's a Thursday afternoon, but still.

Millennials and Gen-Z, avoid this place at all costs…read more I waited until the last minute (electrician is coming tomorrow) to order a flush mount light for our new walk-in closet, so decided to find a brick and mortar store to select one in person, so I'd have it ready for him and be able to wrap up this project ASAP. There aren't many lighting stores left in Westchester, and Hi-Light had a few decent reviews, so I popped in quickly before the appointment with our electrician. After finding a few crystal flushount options at Hi-Light on Central Ave, I took a couple photos to send to my husband (who is also part of the buying process), and was immediately accosted by a salesperson who said I wasn't allowed to take photos of the products I was interested in buying, and asked me to stop. WTF? This is 2023. A great customer experience is your competitive advantage, and yet, the first thing a customer service person said to me was to stop taking photos of the items I was considering buying. Okaaaaaaaay. If you want to sell your products to people who use technology as part of the buying process, you need to make that easy AND pleasant for them to buy, and not harass them for promoting your products to their spouses (or interior designers etc.). I've been working on the renovation of our house for a year, and never once has a salesperson asked me to stop taking photos. In fact, they encourage it! This is why millennials do not want to come into stores now. Who has time for this B.S.? Never again. I'm ordering a flush mount online and will have my electrician come a second time to install a closet flush mount.

Something funky for your living room? Totally. But if you do eye something, get it quick, otherwise, it'll be gone. Such is the case with an unusual desktop, sterling silver card holder that I wanted to purchase for Mr. Man, but I bypassed it and when I went back, it was gone. Service is nice and Sharon will gladly assist in almost anything that might interest you that day. Prices are clearly, comparable to its own Scarsdale location---lavish. No problem....every so often, The Dark Horse runs a store-wide sale and will not feel that huge dent in your wallet. Though I don't shop here on a regular, items, truly are rare, one-of-a kind. I pick a few funky and worldly, accent pieces to elevate my living room a bit and redecorate my college-age daughter's room, with items that I will not find anywhere else.

They also have unique gifts that would make fantastic house warming gifts. Their store has been in Scarsdale Village for as long as I can remember and probably for at least twenty years. My wife and I have often shopped there when we are looking for something that you really couldn't find anywhere else. This is not a store for people looking for a bargain or something you might find at a tag sale, however, the gifts that you might purchase will be truly valued and appreciated by the lucky recipients.

I was looking for a sofa about 85" long for my new therapy office and another to replace a sofa&loveseat leather hand me down which was torn to pieces by my cats (don't buy leather if you have cats with claws). I'd been to Ramour & Flannagan, Home Sense, Home Goods, Macy's and a ridiculous amount of online stores but I kept going back to Bob's (4 times). 20 plus years ago i went to buy furniture in North Carolina (worth the trip if you're buying for multiple rooms) where I learned what to look for when buying furniture or at least what good furniture should look like and where to push and pull. I found R&F to be the worst and the other's to be fairly equal--ok, but expensive. Back in the day when I had kids I'd buy a new or used sofa every 2 to 3 years--it's all I could afford. Finally what I purchased in NC lasted 20 years through 2 children and one grand child! Most of Bob's furniture was fairly well made from what I could tell. The wood might not be real wood (I couldn't tell) but when I pushed on the outside ends of the sofa there was very little give which to me shows it will last longer. Anyway, I stumbled across DAVID when I asked some innocuous question and I stuck with him through the purchase. When you don't want GRAY it limits your choices but that was my steadfast rule. So I found two sofas and one matching chair that swiveled and rocked with delivery to two different rooms (one upstairs the other downstairs) all for UNDER $1,000. The things that went wrong were a price change on a sofa I had seen the day before for hundred's less and a Delivery glitch (came the next day). The prices in the outlet ranged from $20.00 for a corner section of a sectional sofa to just over $1,000 for a large nice looking sectional in good condition. Be sure to examine all your furniture before you leave. Don't forget to sit on it too! Here, David was great pulling it out for me so I could look all over because they mention there could be dents, scratches and tears, etc. The three pieces i purchased were all in excellent condition and arrived that way as well. As someone who worked in Community mental health for many years I would recommend to any non-profit looking to set up a room for adolescents in particular --you can probably furnish it for $250 or less. Happy Shopping!
