My omelette was the perfect size and cheesy deliciousness. The home fries were definitely homemade and cooked perfectly. The setting of this place outside is lovely and the food is good but unfortunately the service is terrible. I joined friends for breakfast there today and it took over an hour to get our drinks and then 30 minutes moreto get our food. The whole breakfast took 2 hours to get through. They had one poor server for the entire outside area. We asked for water 3 different times and never did get it. Someone in our party had to leave just as her food was served and had to go inside to ask for a to go box. They are completely overwhelmed. It's a shame but this is the third time we've tried it and decided 3 strikes they're out!! read more

The staff was amazing; super friendly and very attentive. Our waitress Melissa was a sweet heart, our drinks were always kept full, and she made sure everything was to our liking. We'd never been before, and decided to try it out as it's halfway between our house and theirs. Home Plate has a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We stopped in after the lunch rush on Saturday, around 1pm. Our server Cheyanne was able to make a beer recommendation for my dad (which he LOVED!) I didn't time the wait between ordering & food delivery, but it seemed pretty quick, maybe about 10 minutes? We ordered two Mahi Ruebens, a Fish Sandwich, and a Sausage Hoagie. All were served with tortilla chips (which were warm and crunchy). I think everyone cleaned their plate, which is unusual for my parents. My father, especially, is very critical of food he pays for, and had nothing bad to say about the food or the service. As a matter of fact, they said they would go back. If that isn't a ringing endorsement for a local eatery, I don't know what is! I'd really like to try out their breakfast menu sometime, SOON! read more

Me and my friend come here a lot for breakfast. The food is good but the service has changed. There is one server in particular that clearly does not like her job and we got her today. The place was not busy but she was very slow. She left out food sitting in the window for almost 10 minutes. We both ordered scrambled eggs with cheese. I had no cheese. I had gone to the rest room and my friend flagged her down and and said I ordered it with cheese. Her response was no she didn't....you did. He said yes she did also. She picked up the plate and as she was walking away said no she didn't. What happened to sorry I will fix it. We won't be back. The other girls that work there are nice but this one is not. Brunch for our family is a big deal.. not because we put a lot of importance on brunch but because my family is big, as in numerous, as in 7 plus people are the norm for when just a few of us go out. This makes finding places to eat out difficult. Why am I explaining this.. because we were able to walk in to Home Plate and get a table for 7 right away. Happy that we were seated immediately, our waiter came right over took our drink order and answered questions about the menu. After a bit he returned to take our food order. We had two kids with us and asked if their food could come out asap. We waited and chatted, waited and chatted some more. No kid food was delivered. It seemed like it took a long time for our food to come out.. like 25 minutes maybe longer. When the food did arrive only half of the party got their entrées. The other half waited another 8 minutes for theirs. The food was decent. I had a build your own omelette, jack cheese, peppers, onions, ham, spinach, side of home fries, no toast substitute multi-grain pancake instead. My hubs had the lobster benedict and a side of grits. The portions were large. The multi-grain pancake was big but a little more "cake" then multi-grain. Overall a decent breakfast but the food to table time was slow - likely because of our large party. Would have liked to have the kids food delivered first as requested too. The exterior is unassuming but the interior is cute and clean. Not my first choice for breakfast in Dunedin but to fit a large party it worked out fine. read more

I really wish they had a 2.5 stars. I would prefer not to give a 2 but definitely cannot give a three after this morning. I have eaten here a few times so I will write the positives and negatives and let you decide. Positives: low beer and wine prices. I have not purchased any but cheaper to get some here before going to an afternoon ballgame across the street 2.75 domestics. 3.99 imports. Bottle of cheap res 21 bucks. Waitstaff has each and every time been top notch. Friendly. Attentive. No wait. Always have a full cup of coffee. In the past the pumpkin pancakes were great as was the omlette I have had. As others have noted the place seems empty a lot. I've only gone during the past month and would guess when the baseball team is around then they get busy but this morning I was the only one there from 7 to 7:30 and on a weekend they were only a third full. Perhaps it is the location. Now the bad. Again I was the only one there so they were not slammed and I was in no rush. Got the huevos rancheros tacos. As you can see by the pic the only brown on the homefries was from the skin. Not one was crispy. I realize they just opened but either deep fry them or tell me they are not ready and offer me something else. After eating the first taco I realized a white slime oozing out. Then inspected the sunny side egg on the other and realized both were severely undercooked to the point just by lifting the egg the whites on top fell off in a clear pool of goo. I like yolks but egg whites really turn we off if not fully cooked. I paid my bill then brought it to their attention as I was not in the mood to send it back and lost my appetite. The waitress was very sincere in her apology but my point is I was the only table and if the homefries you put out look like that (which was not the case I the past) then you really do not care for me as a client. I may give them a second chance because of the waitstaff and previous meals but no time soon. read more

Visited restaurant yesterday, armed with a Groupon certificate with a value of #12.00 worth of food purchases. Total check was $11.54. Merchant required that I pay taxes on the bill. If the check was less than $12.00, and my certificate was to be applied to the food purchases, there should have been no tax assessed, as there was no amount left! I left a tip. as the service was good, and informed management that I never would return. Food was non-descript and pretty tasteless. It's no wonder that of probably 40 tables and booths, only one other was occupied at 10:30 a.m. This is a restaurant to avoid. read more

Finally got a chance to try out this restaurant on one of our trips to Florida. Very good! I ordered Lobster Eggs Benedict. It was very tasty and the eggs were cooked perfectly. My granddaughter ordered a children's meal of grilled cheese and fries. It was very appetizing complete with fruit. The restaurant was very clean and light. The saying is 3rd time is the charm, well not for this restaurant. We tried again this morning, plenty of outside seating when we arrived. After sitting down the server never came to the table, glanced at us but never came by. We waited 15 minutes....then left. Went to Wild Iris down the street and had wonderful service and good food. It's sad, if you have the tables but not the staff to serve them you should consider removing some of the tables instead of having customers leave very unhappy! read more

I've eaten here twice now and both times have been different experiences. If I would have reviewed this place the first time we went, I would have given it one star mainly because of the service which was awful. We were left to wait for a while for a table when there were numerous tables available.When we pointed that fact out the response was still, we will be with you shortly; just when we were about to walk out we were seated. Only to see the exact thing happen to the next couple waiting for a table. That along with our waitress who never stopped by to check on us made the experience 1 star, irregardless of the food which was Ok. The second time we went, the only reason we went a second time was because of the Groupon for two visits I purchased, was definitely better I'm assuming because it was later on in the day and the place was almost empty. The food was your typical breakfast spot, with your normal breakfast items. The prices were reasonable and the portions were good. If we're in the neighborhood we may go again but it wouldn't be a place I would recommend to go out of your way for. read more

Great place to meet friends for brunch! Ample space outdoors & sometimes (weekends) there is live music during brunch. It's a busy place so patience is a must. We came in on a Saturday morning with a large party, but were able to sit right away. It took a long time to get the food, but my banana pancakes were worth the wait. They were sweet without being overpoweringly sweet. They were light, and they even had a good texture. Our coffee was full at all times. My only complaints are that the music was a little loud, but we were seated directly under the speaker, and the floor was a little dirty. I'll be back again. read more

Our server was so sweet, quick with taking our order and refills of our soda and coffee. Never had an experience quite like this. Horrible is an understatement. Ordered bacon, eggs, homefries and toast. Bacon was half overcooked half raw and the homefries were a mix of too hard leftovers and fresh uncooked potatoes. Had to flag the server down - which being a server is a HUGE no no but she was not paying attention at all and had not bothered to check back after delivering the meal. I told her the problem and she was pissed - said I was berating the restaurant and the cook. Told me she set the food down a SECOND ago and that I was the problem. She proceeded to take my plate. I pulled a Karen lol and asked for the manager or owner ONLY because she was being so ridiculous. Of course she's the manager so with my plate in her hand I asked her if she thought it was okay to serve that and she said it looked WONDERFUL to her. So I asked for my plate back - to take a picture and she freaked out - oh no, we're not doing this she says and proceeded to dump the food in the garbage. Then she goes to the only other people in the place - 2 seated at the counter and says "you need to help me" points at me and says I'm verbally abusing her and asks them how good the food is cause they eat there everyday. They looked lost. I can't imagine treating one of my customers like this. This woman is NOT suited for her job. I didn't want or need a free meal - I didn't eat it so I guess thank you for the coffee? But I'm still hungry and super disappointed with you Home Plate. Please review your camera's from 11:30 am this morning and then fire that worthless pos. Thank you! OK let me preface this with, I rarely write reviews but I just had to for this place. The food is absolutely amazing. I'm serious. Stop what you're doing and go here right now. It is quite possibly some of the greatest breakfast food I've ever had in my life and I've traveled the world. The service is also top notch. I had the best waitress I've ever had, I don't remember her name but she's from Colorado and I think there's a picture of her in the Yelp photos. I have been here many times since moving to Dunedin last summer. My teenagers love it. I've brought my many of my family here at one time or another and have tried many of their menu items. We love this place! We discovered this place 3 years ago when we moved to Dunedin. It's just off the Pinellas Trail so we take the dog for a walk, than we go eat breakfast. The dog gets a plain scrambled egg, which she gobbles down with great pleasure. Yesterday the husband ordered the "Luscious Lobster Benedict " it was over the top! The presentation was beautiful...I was sort of sad that I hadn't ordered it too....however I am stuck on the breakfast burrito and never walk away with a sad face. Good service from "Brittany" actually said she would do a little dance if we promised to put our positive experience in a yelp reveiw..and she held up her end of the deal. She was a fabulous server, and really she should probably not dance professionally . Cindy the lady that owns the place always comes outside to say hello to the dog. Our first visit to this Restaurant today 8/3/2017, and we Will Be Back !! Lovely Place, Food was great and hot to the table. Beef Barley Soup was the best I have tasted next to my Mothers Ox Tail Soup. My Breaded Cod was so flaky it fell off the fork..the cole slaw was just wet enough without drowning in the sauce and the french fries were great. Staff was very welcoming and the Owner was a hoot to talk to. Take time to visit this place when your in the area. They only serve breakfast and lunch so they close at 2:30pm and they are located right across the street from the Dunedin Baseball Stadium. read more
