One star only because I can't give ZERO. Would not wish this company on anyone, ever. Terrible service, horrible customer service, rude, sexist, and unprofessional -- a complete scam. Our problem has only gotten worse. I am not kidding when I say this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and this is the first time I've ever felt so emblazoned by a company that I have written a review.
We used the service in the Washington D.C./Maryland region. We called about two months ago about a mouse problem after bringing them home from a storage unit.
The first technician out estimated that we had brought home a small family, and prior to calling Home Paramount, we had caught 7 mice on our own glue boards. We paid the initial in cash, and the first technician, Emmanuel Barnes, came into the house to place traps. He did not listen to where we had seen the mice, where we were interested in having traps, etc.. and touched areas of our house where we keep food with his gloves on. It was disgusting. After calling, I spoke to the Service Manager, Lewis Smith, who had secretly threewayed the technician in without my knowledge during the phone call. This was the first example of lying and trickery by this company. Lewis sent Emmanuel back out to fix the placement of traps, and Emmanuel broke a fixture, and accused me of shorting him money ($2 !!) from what he had been paid for the initial. I called Lewis and told him I was ready to leave the company at this point, but Lewis convinced me to stay, and things only got worse after this.
Lewis came out and did not want to hear about the mice that we had seen running around (from which direction they came, where in the house, etc), but checked all cabinets for holes and ensured me that there were none and certain areas were safe to store my food storage (I had no loose foods at this point - only canned goods, and had one bag of potato chips that the mice got to on a high cabinet that Lewis had ensured me was not accessible). Lewis was wrong, and I found this week that mice are now into my cabinets and have chewed a new hole since my service with pest control started. I asked Lewis to come back out and fill the nickel-sized hole, as is guaranteed in my contract. The company sent two technicians out, neither of which had the materials to repair the hole or bait any traps.
At this point, I was told by Branch and Service Managers, Ed Lewinsky and Lewis Smith, that we had a "severe problem" that could take 4-6 months, after initially being told otherwise. It was clear that these managers wanted to cop out of the initial deal, as they could not provide proper service. They asked me repeatedly if I wanted to get rid of my contract in a pressuring manner, and I surely did, but I was not about to pay this company for work that has not been completed. Ed, the Branch Manager, even said "I can't understand your frustration as a woman" and "I know you're a woman, but mice aren't that bad. At least it isn't rats", and spoke to me in a very misogynistic and sexist way. I was enraged, and driven to the edge. I spoke to regional manager Dave Conners, who interrupted me numerous times as I tried to inform him of the complaints and issues I had with the company, but he was only interested in releasing me from the contract. At this point, that was all that I wanted as well, but it is a shame to see someone in a regional management position with such little concern about customer service. Clearly, that is a huge part of the problem with the company.
Other technicians have come out and laughed at my fear and frustration when I have caught mice -- I have actually only caught 3 since the company came, but have seen more running around. We were more successful catching them ourselves. Additionally, technicians never checked the outside areas of my home and often came unequipped without bait for traps, etc.
One technician even hit on my teenager, and another disposed of a mouse in my recycling bin. After speaking with customer service, I was hung up on multiple times by many representatives who refused to give names and titles, and a woman named Sarae Maccubin, as well as two technicians, told me "maybe you should just get a cat or a snake", in addition to the sexism that I experienced via phone by manager Ed Lewinsky. It's all too much. The lack of professionalism and customer service is unparalleled by any other company I have ever experienced.
No matter what your pest is -- DO NOT use Home Paramount. Your problem won't be solved and you'll just have an uphill battle with rude and unprofessional representatives and technicians. read more
