Dumpy old school general store specializing in knick knacks and other Asian style goods…read more Parking is available but limited in the area. The place is cluttered. Definitely not for the claustrophobic. I think a big chunk of the goods are used too. Just a heads up. Guessing they stock a lot of their inventory from garage sales or the like. I liken the experience to digging through an old school Asian family's storage area. Their goods are mediocre quality (think just slightly below Canadian Tire), but their pricing is also very low. If one is looking for Asian household items, stores like these really can't be beat. I was able to find what I needed (after trying and failing at several other local stores) and was pleasantly surprised. The place is almost like an Asian version of a dollar store. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Special mention. Appears to be a family business. Good to check out if one needs Asian specific items.

Shopping in Vancouver, British Columbia…read more.. We had parked our rental car across the street from this shop and paid for the meter on a Sunday. The shop looked interesting from the outside, so we told each other that we'd take a look after a dimsum breakfast... Interesting it was! Lots of various types of merchandise... From dishes and decor to incense and paper money to burn at gravesites, Fuling Gifts & Houseware was a fun shopping adventure! I found a hair towel for my niece for $1 (Canadian money). The man at the cash register was funny and nice. He joked around and suggested that we buy a couple more towels... haha!

Just the other day I went in to order some flowers for my father's funeral. The woman working in the shop asked me if I had been to the website. I said no. She coldly suggested that I leave, go to the website and choose from "over 300" available arrangements online. I was shocked. I wanted personalized service for a very personal event. She failed to understand this. I spent my $150 dollars at a stunning florist two blocks away where I received exceptional personalized service. This woman actually sent a paying customer out the door. I'll never shop there again.

Obviously the owner has an amazing talent for choosing very unique items and I have purchased many gifts but usually also walk out with some beautiful clothing or jewelry for myself as well lol ... also always enjoy the friendly staff who have on many occasions steered me in the right direction and then to top it off, gift wrapped my selection too! The best part is that all of the gifts are wrapped with lovely scented potpourri, tissue and ribbons. If you buy a gift from here, it will likely be the one on the gift table that's admired while the recipient carefully opens and saves the wrapping to use again. I have been to the Old Faithful shop many times and it hasn't disappointed. It is very true to their theme of artisan, home-made or well-crafted-and-the-woodsy-bent items, which speaks to a particular customer. Some may love this shop and others may find it expensive and too specific to integrate into their personal style. I appreciate the care in the selection of the goods and the kindness of the employees. The first time I was in the shop (being overwhelmed by the visuals) I just bought several journals. When I got home, I realized that I wanted more and ordered them by phone because they don't use their website for special orders. They were very nice and when the package arrived, it was beautiful. Brown paper package, tied up with string... no kidding. This time I bought a huge wool blanket that I thought I could fit in my luggage (I couldn't) and it made a perfect gift. The thing about the blanket purchase was how much banter I had the the employees while I was purchasing it. While we were talking, THEY referenced that I had bought the journals the previous year. What memory. Their attention to detail gets me every time. I will always go back to Old Faithful when I am in Vancouver... whether or not I can fit what I buy into my luggage.

I wanted painters tape in the regular width. On the shelf, I found painters tape that was double the width I was looking for and another tape that described itself as "general masking tape" and included a remark about great paint jobs. I wanted to buy three of the latter, but only if it was painters tape not regular masking tape. The cashier told me she used it so she knows it's painters tape. I asked if we could open one to see. She refused. How can a store feel it is reasonable to make a customer trust the cashier about a product that is misdescribed on the label? How do I know if she even knows what the difference is between masking tape and painters tape? I will never return to this store. There are far better stores at Broadway west of McDonald. I should have taken the time to go there.
