I like how their plant selection just gets bigger and bigger! They have some show stoppers by their King Edward Street window. They also carry kitchen and home items. It's packed in there, a bit of everything. Random but also intentional. You have to go in to experience it. Service is generally good. Value is also good. No complaints here. read more

I come here for the plants and in particular the fresh eucalyptus. I keep it in my shower and it makes the bathroom smell amazing.

I like to come check this corner convenient / dollar store / garden store. I come to check out the plant selection. I've come twice now, I have yet to actually get anything. They have great selections of cactus plants, large ones too. I do find them on the pricey side. The rest of the store is like a "dollar store" great for looking around. But I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

This store is a one-of-a-kind gem. If you're a plant lover, it's definitely worth exploring. There is a huge variety of plants, including cacti, succulents, and other leafy species. To go along with the plant selection, they have a ton of neat pots. Everything from hanging pots to bonsai planters, and cool modern concrete pots as well as cute vases shaped like faces or animals. They sell gardening supplies here too, like fertilizer, insecticides, pruning shears and clippers, gloves, small tools, and more. I was expecting to stop by for a quick browse but ended up extending my parking just to keep shopping The other side of the shop resembles more of a dollar store in terms of selection, though it's not a dollar store and you do need to look at price tags. That said, everything I looked at was priced reasonably enough. I will definitely be back for a repeat visit to see what new plants they get in stock for summer! read more

This is a "FULL" store. There isn't one inch of space that is wasted. They pretty much have everything you can imagine and more! However ... I would not categorize this place as a "$1 dollar store". You need to shop very carefully. Some items are WAAAAAY over priced. I am a fan of the store though. They carry some hard to find items ... disco ball? yup! It's fun to just walk up and down the aisles and look at stuff. read more

HOO HOO! This place is fun. They are soooo smart to keep the disco balls in the corner window. You just keep driving by and seeing those disco balls in this variety store and wonder what you're missing. Will Peewee Herman be in there buying gag gifts? I finally made it in here and this place doesn't disappoint as a certain type of experience. My kids were confused by the volume and variety of things. I had fun telling them about Five and Dime type stores...this is the closest they'll ever come to one, I'm sure. Of course, the prices are not Loony-Toony here...they're higher. I wish I could get a giant disco ball for a couple bucks, but no....Trendybucks is about variety. You'll just find tons of anything you can imagine in this store. When I have those mornings where I wake up thinking, "Today, I need a disco ball, vintage replica birdcage and some noodle soup..." I look no further then Trendy Bucks. For a lady who quite often needs a laundry list of props, this dollar store hybrid is a one stop shop. They carry your usual dollar store finds - cheap mugs, cheap socks, cheap craft supplies but also stock an interesting collection of bizarre & unique items. My most recent finds include an ornate mailbox, a charming lantern with a wrought iron humming bird and a giant, refillable confetti bomb... because everyone should own a giant, refillable confetti bomb. Obviously. They are also a great destination for costume items with the exception of their oddly expensive array of fake mustaches. $18 for a handlebar? Really Trendy Bucks? For shame! Should you be looking for a disco ball - this place IS the stop for you. They carry disco balls in at least 4 different colors and 8 different sizes. Whatever your mirror ball needs, the Buck will provide. And nothing screams one-stop shop quite like buying toilet paper and a disco ball at the same place. Quality... eh... but what can you expect? It IS a discount store after all, so be prepared for your loot to fall apart after a few weeks. All in all, a handy little place to have in my hood and I'll continue to pop in every week to see what new eccentric new treasures await. read more

If you're looking for a disco ball, wire replica of the Eiffel Tower, or 99 cent hawaiian capri pants, look no further! Seriously this place is SO RANDOM. You can get everything from candies, to Sterilite containers, to batteries, to party supplies here. If you've moved into a new place in the neighbourhood and you realize you need something random (a hammer? a garbage can?), there is a 95% chance that Trendy Bucks will have it. Now here is a different kind of store.. NOT your typical plastic-smelling dollar-store chain with the same stuff as all the rest. This is a mom and pop shop of a completely different nature. Outside there were shelves of the cutest succulents and other lovely plants.. lots of them! Priced right, I thought. Walk in the door and what greets me? Shelves of Dr Bonnor's soaps and a stand Bob's Red Mill grains... 'this is a dollar store???' I almost said out loud. To the right a jungle of gorgeous plants including ENORMOUS cacti, like seriously HUGE ones you can't get anywhere else. I was impressed at the depth of plants they had. The costuming section was great too! There were antique bird cages and african hand woven baskets, beautiful woven fans.. it was the most PLUS dollar store I'd ever seen. And all because it is own and run by just a lovely human being who understands life is not about living cheaply but living richly with things that really tug at your heart. Yes, she has EVERYTHING you can get at a dollar store, so it's a one stop shop.. I purchased the most beautiful journal I could not expect to find which was absolutely perfect for the struggles of life, an Amy Winehouse journal with lyrics of one of my favourite songs on it... I just did all my Halloween shopping in one day. This included ready to wear costumes and there was enough things in the store to get all the supplies for some the DIY stuff for the kids. It's a big store and it can get time consuming to find stuff but believe it not it's there. Prices are reasonable too, which is good since after Christmas, I think I spend the most on Halloween now. Just mostly crappy dollar store items. Nice plant selection but they didn't have what I wanted (calamondin plant). A lot of the bigger plants were looking kind of dry and unhealthy anyway. A warm garden room area with a variety of plants and garden supplies that are reasonably priced. Mini orange trees(calamondin orange) are sold at 35-45% lower cost than other places I've seen. Throughout the summer there are other interesting varieties of flowers, trees and shrubs too. Will not ever be buying anything from this store ever again. Came in with my three boys, one who wanted to buy a plastic toy gun which I thought would only be $2 so he went up to pay at the cash register with a toonie and the cashier actually says to him... "We're NOT a dollar store". I was shocked! NOT cool at all. I was in too much shock to think of a response to that but now that I think about it, I should have said "Well, it looks like a dollar store in here!" It certainly is laid out like a dollar store with dollar store quality items but priced more. NOT stroller friendly either. It's not really a dollar store, however, there are things that are a buck and more. Some prices are unfairly gouged on items that you could buy at the dollar store that are charged retail prices. I am smart enough to just skip those (even if the lawn Flamingo looks awesome). It's a few blocks away from the record store I visit. I came here 'cause my best friend and I were working on a U2 Pop Mart themed party and needed a disco ball. We probably paid a little too much for it given that it was a prop, however, it was the only place that had it (that wasn't a DJ shop). I like to browse here when I am bored or waiting for my best friend. Some trinkets make me smile. It is good as a prop store. read more

You can basically get everything here. It doesn't look like it from the outside but it's a deluxe dollar store. You can get birthday cards, thank you cards, house stuff like candles and incense, and lottery tickets. I really liked this store because of the great selection of plants, and I would like to remain a customer, but I can't as I feel majorly inconvenienced after my experience today. I went in there earlier today and would have spent $70.00 but was told they would only accept cash payment, no credit cards! When I asked why this is the store clerk mumbled something about enhancing security? It's 2018. Consumers are far less likely to carry loose cash. Businesses, like this one, that do not provide card paying flexibility are not only inconveniencing the very people they depend on for the success of their business, but actively disadvantaging themselves and making way for potential loss of revenue!!! Don't let the name fool you. This is not a dollar store. It stocks all of the same items as a dollar store with a similar quality but has the same price as a London Drugs. They gouge you left right and center. I went in there looking for some paper and a pen and cheap little Bic pens cost $5. Go somewhere else if you have the time. read more

The woman that runs the store is rude and insulting. Shame on you for insulting my 2 year old and 5 year old. My children were well behaved the whole time they were there. They didn't touch a bunch of things (2 year old only touched dice and pack of peeps), they didn't run at all or shout which is pretty good for young children, especially my 2 year old in the party aisle. I don't expect a compliment (and we often receive plenty of compliments from other parents) but insulting my children for them to hear is shameful. Couldn't you simply approach me with a concern instead of talking loudly about us? And what's wrong with touching a couple of things? Your adult shoppers do plenty of that. This store is such a great replacement for the previous pharmacy/gross-out store that existed in the space before. You could actually buy flourescent zinc sun block left over from the 80s and the previous owner was a jerk. The owner of Trendybucks is friendly and kind and I find myself at this store when I need something completely random. Inevitably it is there. Since Welks down the street (who claim to be "the original dollar store" on their website) are attempting to be an upscale gadget and home decor store and now gouge you for everything (although I found camphor cream there for my broken arm), Trendybucks is the best place on Main to find all your household, gift, seasonal and knick-knack needs! read more
