It's always a pleasure to pass by to see whether they have anything new in store! They also have a website in which you can browse through their collection and later ring them to hold for you (as they understandably don't hold everything in-store). And the other useful services they offer are upcycling your used furniture and a finding service in which you can submit photographs of what you're looking for and have the store help you in your search. Very nifty! Overall, L'Atelier offers extensive services and a remarkable array of home decor, and the people have never failed to provide excellent hospitality. This is definitely one of my favourite shops in the area for all these reasons!

Well made items on the higher end in price and finishing, these pieces will last. Unfortunately while downstairs an over the dining room table light that was basically a lit circle with a long skinny lit rod going through it was about to slip off and luckily my gf was there to help try to put it back but had a hell of a time balancing the darn thing! A very rude salesman came running over and raised his voice at her saying "why would you touch that?!" My poor gf tried in disbelief to explain what was happening but the man was so rude he didn't even apologize! We left in disbelief that an employee would react so unprofessionally! I believe that employees are just as important as the brand or company they represent and this was in no way reflective of the beautiful furnishings inside the store. This is why I'm giving them one star. An apology would have been nice.

Everything is modern and stylish with some unique furniture that I haven't seen elsewhere. I was so comfortable browsing the room and I can picture so many of these pieces in my new home. Staff are knowledgeable, patient and helpful. I just moved recently and I was browsing to see what furniture would suit my space. I liked that the staff gave me a lot of practical advice and did not pressure me to buy anything. They were willing to answer all my questions and genuinely wanted to assist in finding the right fit for my personal style. They also have a wide selection of lifestyle and home products. As an aspiring home cook, I couldn't resist buying a set of the stone dinnerwear from Portugal. Not only are they gorgeous, but they're also oven-safe, dishwasher-safe, and doesn't get hot when I pull it out of the microwave. They were very appreciative of my business and helped carry my items to my car. As this is a new business I took several photos, but would recommend stopping by to see their showroom as it is even more beautiful in person.

My children always love our annual visits to these wonderful people. As do my grandchildren. They swear the upstairs area is haunted. Have purchased several lovely armoires, console tables and lamps over the years which have survived well in our busy home. My annual go-to for all things Lunar New Year: envelopes, guest gifts, paper bunting swags, window art etc.,.. The store also houses a fascinating "museum" of Maoist era items. A nice way to spend a winter afternoon. Then cross the street for sweet buns and tea at Newtown Bakery.

I love to shop local and seeing so many Canadian products that the store promotes is refreshing to say the least. Having a small business in this day and age is extremely hard and I applaud this store for it's longevity in the village, they have been there since as long as I can remember. Obviously the owner has an amazing talent for choosing very unique items and I have purchased many gifts but usually also walk out with some beautiful clothing or jewelry for myself as well lol ... also always enjoy the friendly staff who have on many occasions steered me in the right direction and then to top it off, gift wrapped my selection too! Wish On A Star fits in perfectly with the life of the village. Lots of great gifts for any occasion. Pet, guys, wedding, baby, bath, body and of course furnishings adorn this store. The best part is that all of the gifts are wrapped with lovely scented potpourri, tissue and ribbons. If you buy a gift from here, it will likely be the one on the gift table that's admired while the recipient carefully opens and saves the wrapping to use again. And if that wasn't enough, there's two love birds that live in a cage, chirping away while you admire all of the lovelies.

I guess I don't look like the sectional buying type, or perhaps it was because I was with a friend and we were chatting... I would have continued to hang around to ask a question or two, but once I realized that the cigarette smoke was circulating because of the two of them, a wave of disgust engulfed me. Outside of the fact that there's a bylaw that prohibits smoking inside businesses in Vancouver, the idea that my furniture would reek when I got it home disgusted me enough to shudder and leave.
