Downgrading this one. Buying here is fine if you can transport it, as delivery charges are astronomical. I had two huge pieces of furniture on consignment. One was a heavy handmade oak futon and the recliner I bought from here a couple years ago. Realistically I was thinking I'd pocket maybe $150-200. My check for 87 cents just arrived. No explanation or anything. 87 cents. I called twice to discuss (I wanted to know what the actual hell happened) but I've been told they aren't sure and that someone would call me. It's been three weeks. They have a slew of complaints on the BBB site. Should've checked. Just bought a power leather recliner from here for $279. Yes, it was used, but it is in great condition and 1/3 of the price of it new. Sales people were nothing but friendly and helpful and not pushy at all. Overall a great experience at a very clean store with really reasonable prices. They made sure to point out defects and be honest and that really speaks to the character of this place. The only thing I didn't like was that they hire out a third party mover to deliver, and it's $75 am hour with a minimum of one hour. I live two miles from here. Thank goodness I was able to get it in my Jeep. I'm not fond of third party movers and I think it's a little steep for delivery just down the road. Buyer beware ! I purchased a dresser with matching nightstands not long ago. I spent over $3,200. I inspected my items before purchase. I even took a video to share with a friend. The dresser in the video is not the dresser that was wrapped up and loaded for me. The issue is the paint on the inside of one of the drawers is severely flaking and bubbling up. The inside of the other drawers look like they will soon be doing the same thing. This is clearly a defective product that should not have been resold without warning or at least a significantly reduced price, if at all! I haven't even put anything inside the drawers yet! "As is no returns" is the response of Home Consignment when I shared the issue. read more

Stay far, far away. I purchased a bed marked as King size and had it delivered to my home for $180. Upon putting it together, I learned it was actually a California King bed, not King size as marked. The store would let me return it but refused to cover the additional $180 needed to bring it back to the store. Absolutely ridiculous. I understand not being able to return for quality issues, but if something is mislabeled and incorrectly advertised, that should not be on the customer. Better to pay extra and actually get what you need at another store! read more

Not Recommended. At all. If you are considering consigning your items here, just understand they hold no responsibility what so ever. We had a very long relationship with this store and they have made heaps of money from our items so this isn't a short term one off complaint. I called a few weeks ago to see if things had sold (always call every few weeks) and they said my items had been donated. WHAT?? They pulled my items from the floor and donated them without my permission. According to the employee, they called me to get permission but the good news on that, cell phones have call records - no call, ever. And when I had called a few weeks prior, why wasn't I informed the items were about to be tossed? It took a week+ of calls and a visit to the store to finally reach the manager. Most of the conversation was her talking over me and telling me there was nothing she could do about it. I explained that the 'agreement' stated at 45 days it was my option what to do with the items and just because my 45 days of the agreement was up didn't mean they could take it upon themselves and toss them out. Of course, she didn't agree and gave me the corporate phone number. The bottom line on the conversation was they were too busy to call everyone and ask permission, otherwise the staff would be on the phone all day.....we are paying them 50% + a fee for writing a check - is that not enough to warrant a courtesy call? The manager did end up offering a $50 store credit and I said thank you very much but I didn't want a store credit. Why on earth would I want a credit to bring someone else's stuff home when all I wanted was either my things back or a check to cover the loss. EPIC FAIL on their part. In all these years of dealing with these people, the deck has always been stacked in their favor - and now I am certain they are the ones that will always win. read more

Racist is the name! I went into this store a few weeks ago and spent over 4K. I went back into the store today and was planning on buying a few more items. The total was over 3K. I know how consignment shops work. The longer the items been in the store it will be discounted. Well the Sales rep was going through this discount. I had a credit in the store, so he gave me a discount on a 29 dollar pillow. The store manager not knowing what was going on comes over there to insert herself in our business. She assume I was getting a lot of free items. This was not the case! Then she started talking about if I came to your house and asked for you to give me your chair for free. News flash lady you do not own the items. If you came to my house I would own the items, so this is totally different. Also, I wasn't asking for a free chair. Well I guess this has been going on for awhile because the Sales Rep quit. He was over it. Oh Yea, I forgot to mention all of the sales rep loved me when I first went in there. I even brought one of the girls a gift back from my trip. I wish I could give a negative 1 star. I purchase items that should be delivered. I do not want any issues with this store. At this point, they can refund me all my money. If not, just make sure its at my house without any damage. I am so ready for their response! Bring it on. read more

I have purchased several things from them. Last week I purchased a table and they had a 20% off sale. We decided to return and purchase two sofas and a dining room table we really liked. As we came into the store a woman greeted us and asked if she could help us. I asked if they still had the 20% sale. She responded no. I said bummer! She then said with a snarky response, "You can pretend we are having a sale". Not only was she insulting but she was so arrogant!!! I'm sure our business means nothing to them right now since furniture is in high demand. With that kind of an attitude I won't be back ever! If you are trusting these guys to sell your furniture, beware ! They are chasing away opportunities because they have smug, uncaring and arrogant staff. read more

I have bought from this store before. They used to be more of a genuine resale with a good selection of various furniture and decorative items. However, the last two times in, I've been disappointed. Today there was not a single item I had to decide yay or nay on! Mostly they have new cheap furniture. Go by and judge for yourself. Ill Start with the staff because they are some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of working with in my life. I was in a pinch today with a purchase and the ladies there helped me find the perfect items and even took the time to help me wrap it. I think partly because I looked extremely lost haha. The store itself changes daily, but the product coming in and out are of not only great quality, but very fairly priced. Its a new adventure every time I get a chance to stop by! I can not recommend enough taking the time one afternoon to stop by and check it out yourself. You will definitely be making some return trips. Highly recommend that if you see something you buy it. After 45 days if your item doesn't sell it is donated. No phone call no nothing. I reached out several times to see if my last item sold which they advertised it had not sold. I decided to go into the store myself to see if the item had sold which they had looked it up and I was told it should be here somewhere. No one could find my item and another lady said it was probably donated since it was pass the 45 days. So I asked...,.when you donate items don't you update your system? She responds "we probably forgot" with oh well attitude!! Bad customer service. I understand if my contact said 45 days it will be donated. But every time I called they would say only it had not sold. I should have just went there to pick up the item on the 45th day instead of continuing to call. My bad. To be honest, I thought that they were very rude. Although one of the sales ladies was nice. I will never leave my items here or go back to shop in this store again. read more

I have purchased many things from Home Consignment Center and have always been happy with them. However, today, things changed. I went in to look for a dining table/chairs which I found. I talked to a salesperson, Beverly, and got the pricing, etc. I told her I wanted to go home and measure before I purchased the set, so she put a green "HOLD" tag on the table and I went home to measure. I got back to the store within 30 minutes and much to my surprise was a "SOLD" sign with someone else's name on it. When I talked to her, she simply said when she put it on "HOLD", it was already sold and she wasn't aware of it so, in essence, too bad. Simply "sorry" was all she said and that was as we were leaving. So, beware, if they put a "HOLD" on a piece, and someone comes in after you with cash, you are fresh out of luck. I visit a lot of consignment stores and this one is the best. The people are friendly and the inventory moves quickly. There are gems coming in all the time and the prices are good. The jewelry here is also worth spending your time looking at. Great prices! They even have designer bags. I have bought and sold through the McKinney location and always have good experiences. Have been here multiple times to purchase pieces and they have some great original things! The staff is friendly for the most part BUT today I had went in to purchase a runner in the back. When I went to the counter and asked to purchase it (because I had put it on hold) moving trucks had shipment back there so it was hard to get to....the lady had told me they won't be able to get to it for two weeks. I asked her "so if someone wanted to buy a couple of rugs back there they couldn't" and she cut me off saying "yup two weeks." Very disappointed and gave no other solutions like oh let me see if we can wiggle back there or anything. VERY GROUCHY EMPLOYEE. Won't be visiting this place as much as I normally do. read more

I really love this place!! Second time here. Staff is very warm in spite of being busy with the constantly changing surroundings. There's a great mix of natural and artificial light, which really helps when you are choosing furniture. The Mix of items and styles and is delightful, and the pricing is such that there is something to be had for everyone. The quality is extremely good. If you wait a month between visits, the entire place will be transformed, as they have apparently brisk movement of their furnishings. read more

A bit disappointed. Not disappointed with my results just some follow up that was never completed on their part. I gave up calling. Yes they sold my DR table at a fairprice and yes they paid me promptly. Yes. ALL the store personnel were courteous as well as helpful. So where is the rub you ask? I'll tell you. When I received my check there was approximately $8.00+ missing from my remittance. Not a large sum but I felt I was entitled to an explanation. Spoke with Brenda the manager. She said she was perplexed but would get back to me. Seems that corporate takes a percentage out for credit card usage. What? I never used a credit card. I was the seller. No matter,they take it anyway. Never heard back, never got my $8.00+ either. As a matter of fact no one from the store or t heirh corporate offices ever called to explain fully. SO BEWARE. read more

Warning: consignment shopping will ruin your relationships with new furniture stores. Hooked on consignment. Once you start treasure hunting at consignment stores it is difficult to return to new retail prices. Unless you have a specific deadline for decorating, consignment is the way to go. You can save a lot of money buying others' furniture. Staff is helpful without being obnoxious. Fresh merchandise is regularly brought in so you need to visit regularly. read more

I loved this store, until today. On 2/12/2020 we brought multiple items to Home Consignment Center for consignment, 1 leather sectional sofa, a king size mattress with box springs & a king bedroom set that consisted of a king headboard, footboard, nightstand, chest of drawers & dresser. The sectional & mattress set sold quickly & we received a check in the mail. Per their contract, we could not remove any furniture prior to 45 days without paying 15% of the original asking price. 3/27/2020 would have been 45 days, I tried to call but due to COVID 19 their store closed on 3/26/2020. Since the store was closed, I sent an email on 4/1/2020 at 1158PM that said " We were supposed to be contacted regarding the remaining furniture on the 27th but I'm assuming the store is closed. If you could please not get rid of it, we will take it back. Thank you, Monica Robinson 972.***.****.". I received an email the following morning 4/2/2020 at 929AM that read "We are currently closed due to COVID-19. Please check back with us. Thanks so much, brenda (sp? Her name was not capitalized and there was no phone number). I emailed again on 4/16/2020 at 8PM "Hi there, just need to to confirm that the furniture is still there? Picking it up isn't an issue, we can wait until y'all are ready but just want to make sure it's there so we don't buy a new set. Thank you, Monica Robinson 972.***.****". Never received a response. With the restrictions being lifted this week, I called the store today to see if they were open, Brenda answered and commented about how happy she was to have a store to come back to, that their corporate office in California was still closed, etc. I mentioned that I had sent an email about the furniture and that we would be picking it up, she pulled it up and said all that was left was the headboard, footboard, nightstand and chest of drawers, she had sold the dresser YESTERDAY 5/6/2020. When I asked why she sold it when I had clearly communicated with her more than once that we did not want it sold and that we were just waiting for the store to reopen she lied and said the email was "automatically generated" so she had no idea I had said not to sell it, automatically generated emails reply immediately, not the next day. Rather than offer to make it right, by either admitting her mistake and contacting whomever she had sold it to or offering to let us pick out another complete set they might have had in the store she got belligerent, insisting that she didn't do anything wrong by selling it and that we could come pick up the remaining pieces. I told her that we would be filing a small claims suit against her because the set was no longer complete without the dresser and there is no way to replace that dresser with one to match, the set is very unique and ornate. That was it, zero remorse, zero customer service. We drove over to pick up the remaining pieces, when we walked in I could hear Brenda and another coworker in the office talking about me & the situation, she seemed very distressed, probably because she checked her emails, knew she was wrong & shouldn't have sold the piece, my other half, Mike, tried to have a conversation with Brenda regarding doing something to make it right, she proceeded to lie to him & told him that the pieces had been there for 50 days as of the day they closed (3/26/2020 was actually 44 days & per their contract I couldn't have picked up the pieces on that day without paying 15%), she didn't realize it was me sitting on the stool behind him & when I interjected that what she was saying was wrong she lost it, started yelling at me & telling me that my math was wrong & that we needed to get our pieces and "get the f*** out of my store!!" Very unprofessional, at that point an older gentleman that works there told Mike that "it was time to go" and he said "I'll go when I get my stuff", at which time she then told us we couldn't take it & to get out. A couple guys that work there said they would put it on the loading dock to pick up, she got on the phone & called the police, as we were loading up OUR furniture the police show up, sirens, the whole thing, I spoke with them & they agreed that while we had every right to be upset, it was a civil matter (which I knew and is exactly why I didn't call the police about it) and there was nothing they could do but that she wanted a criminal trespassing charge filed on us. The police gave me a written warning and I am no longer able to go into the store or I'll be charged with criminal trespassing. I am a 47 year old professional woman, I had tried to handle this professionally, if their corporate office was open I would have contacted them immediately & I am sure someone with some level of management sense would have handled this differently. Brenda, the customer is always right, even if the customer is wrong, but in this case, you were wrong & rather than try to make it right you freaked out and made it into something it never should have been. read more

I am a Interior Designer and purchase many different items for clients and for personal use. I rented a truck on Oct 16th to pick up at 4 different locations that day. My helpers were not free from a another job to help load, but would meet up to unload . I purchased a armoire from Home Consignment in McKinney. I called to let them know I was coming with the truck. The man whom answer the phone informed me that the two porters would not pick up that cabinet and place it in the truck. He insisted with a rude tone of voice that I needed to have my own men or hire a professional moving company for that armoire! I picked up at a competitor Buy Consignment in Lewisville first and they had a bedroom set out, shrink wrapped, then quickly and gently placed it all in my truck. A couple of pieces were very heavy with no complaint. I also pickup and large bed frame next at the Buy Consignment McKinney location, and I was greeted with the same great attitude and service The bed frame was very tall and had to be laided on its side into the truck. The dressers mirror was attached and the 2 men had to be very careful lifting and placing that heavy dresser into my truck. Next I pickup a 90 inch long buffett with a marble top and two settee sofas at High Street Antiques in Plano. The men their including the older gentleman I purchased from, wrapped my blankets on the items with shrink wrap and moved them from the front of the store, to the back door dock, then into my large truck with no issues and a pleasant attitude. I did not go to Home Consignment for my Armoire that day, since they made it crystal clear they would not try to lift or load a heavy armoire. This morning I heard a voice message from the female manager, she did not leave a name, in a rude, firm tone of voice, that they have held the cabinet for a month and if I do not come TODAY, it will be put back up for sale! I told the man I spoke with last week, that I would make other plans. My plans will be to NEVER SHOP AT HOME CONSIGNMENT AGAIN! Buy Consignment and High Street Antiques has beautiful items and superior service and would never make it difficult to buy or pick up a item from them. Home Consignment needs to check out their competitors and step up their service for customers. Consider paying more for professional porters who can lift furniture! read more

Went in right before Christmas to consign several pieces of my jewelry, and while I waited for the appraisal, I shopped around and bought a lovely dining set. The sales staff were awesome and the manager personally reached out to me Christmas Eve regarding delivery to make sure I had my furniture for my Christmas family gathering! Overall, a negative experience. My father passed away May and I inherited to the house, and I was trying to sell the rest of the furniture. I called these HCC, and a representative came to the house to check out the furniture. She told me she was going to take around $1000 worth of furniture. A moving truck came and picked all the furniture up, and then I get a call from HCC saying that they can only take 30% of the items that picked up. When they originally said that they would take all of the furniture that they had moved (and that I had paid to move from a third-party moving company.) they tell me that the furniture wasn't in the condition they thought it was in, even after they had inspected it at our house. And their reasoning? "The lights at our store are different". It was so frustrating, going through so much emotional trauma and feeling like I was getting ripped off. Oh, and the stuff they did keep they told me they had to lower the price for substantially. Originally I was going to have around $1000 in commission to pay for the fueral, but it ended up being maybe 300. And the stuff they didn't take that they had originally said they would? They told me it was my responsibility to come pick it up or they would donate it. How much crap is that? I won't be using this place again. read more
