I still remember when the local guy introduced his concept and opened the first Container Store nearby. It was an instant success and for good reason. At this point it's hard to recall when every size and style of storage container wasn't available everywhere you turned, at any retailer. But, it wasn't which, is what made the Container store blast off like a rocket. I personally didnt shop there because the premium they charged always made me think twice and It was more important for me to save money. These days, the most important thing is convenience, for me. That includes the right storage container that is esthetically pleasing and possibly designed for the very job I need satisfied. I find it hard to believe, The Container Store has survived all these decades with the feverish low price competition but, they have. I love this location of The Container Store. Every employee has been really helpful every time I've been here. The store itself is like every other one, with myriad options of "containing" any part of your home, garage, office, or car. I'm a member of their POP frequent shopper program, and I don't know about you, but i'll take 15% or 20% off an item anytime! And even something for your birthday! What I *really* like about this location is the fact that -- so far -- it's never been overwhelmingly busy and it has good parking. Two lanes enter the area from Stacy Road, so make sure you're in the right lane if coming from the west...even then, you can still park on the side of the store. This review is strictly for the inconsistency. I came a few weeks back without a mask and purchased items I needed for my kitchen. I come back today with my kids to buy more and as soon as I'm about to get to the shelf where I needed my items an employee tells me I need a mask. I have medical issues that allow me to not wear one. She insists even with medical issues I need one. So I politely said well I won't be shopping here today I guess. Our mask mandates have been lifted in Texas, if people want to continue to wear them, that's perfectly fine. But I'm quite upset that I basically got thrown out because medically I can't wear one. It's weird how you are treated exactly how you look when you enter this place. It is consistently inconsistent, is the best way to put it. If I pop by there after work , dressed up , I am greeted politely and asked if I need assistance. If it's a Saturday and I'm in my gym shorts / flip flops / hair in a bun... I am literally not acknowledged. This has almost become a joke in our family as to how we are dressed = how we will be treated. I've never gone in there in revealing / tattered/ rude / inappropriate clothing. It's just a bunch of judgemental, snobby staff. I concur with the other reviewer that said the layout is great; it's very logical and easy to move around in. It's well lit, clean and parking is plentiful. It does seem like this location is smaller than some of the others, but maybe it's just an illusion. They have a nice selection of kitchen merchandise, although I wasn't able to find what I was shopping for (microwave "reheat a plate" covers). I saw some great shelving for organizing a garage or basement as well. A fun place to shop for things you need and, well, maybe some things you'll find a need for later. read more

Who would've thought finding a replacement box for a board game would be so difficult. Welp, The Container Store saved the day and I opted for their "premium gift box." Besides the semi-pricey price tag (then again it's a specialty store so that's expected) I have zero complaints! The store was clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and check out was a breeze. As for the box, it's pretty darn sturdy. I loved that they had a variety of sizes perfect for safely holding my board game and all it's pieces, and the price wasn't too bad: a medium box for just under $6. If you're looking for some kind of space solution or need gear for going off to college, the container store is the place to go. There's not much to say about it because it just is what it is. Staff is pretty nice, although they have a bad habit of ignoring you when you're politely waiting for them to finish talking to another customer and then pretty much running in the opposite direction so you have to chase them down to ask for help. In addition, a lot of the staff don't actually know how their products work, which is irritating when you're debating between different solutions. It's a little over priced for the stuff they offer, and I'm not a fan of the customer service, but they offer what they claim to and their products have always held up well for me. read more

I'd give it a zero if I could. I worked in the retail industry for several years. I'm appalled at the lack of service and the attitude of the team members. One sentence to sum of the entire visit: "I get off in 15 minutes, so if you can pick it out in that amount of time, I can help you." "Could I have a few more pieces of tissue for my extra large glass container; I'm moving soon." The cashier proceeds to count the tissue paper used and say, " No. I've already given you 4 pieces." I am still a little miffed about the move from Plano to 10 miles up the road in Fairview a few years ago, but nothing I can do about that. I love to wander the aisles in this store and I make sure I go up and down each one every time I go, no matter what I am actually there for. Naturally, the store is very well organized and clean, all the shelves are marked clearly and properly. Staff members I have spoken with are always friendly and helpful. If you are looking for national brands like Oxo or Rubbermaid, you may find them cheaper elsewhere. Their GoShop! Option is perfect for those of us who HATE to shop. And when I say hate, I mean, I would rather have brain surgery than go shopping. GoShop! is great, you just shop on their website, select everything that you want, pay for it and select what time you would like to pick it up at the front counter. Sadly, if what you ordered doesn't work, you still have to go back there and return the stuff and end up shopping to find something else that might work. I've never had a bad experience here. Employees are always friendly and helpful. I guess it helps if they're happy... and, from what I remember, this is one of a handful of companies that have never laid anyone off. Evar. Every year I contemplate getting a storage bin for our Christmas tree, but I'm always put off by the price of such storage containers. I wish I looked here first, because they offer this storage bag (with wheels) for only $40. And the quality seems pretty nice and sturdy. The nice lady was very helpful in showing me all the options they carried. Their stocking stuffer section is pretty awesome. They have this silly-putty type object that you can use to suck up crap from in between your laptop keys. Instructions say to just push it into the keyboard and lift it up. I went to Container Store last week to purchase a birthday gift for a friend. I was able to get in and get out pretty fast, which always makes me happy (shocking truth: I hate shopping). They have a great layout here and all of the different "departments" (closet, office, travel, etc) are clearly marked, which made it really easy to find what I was looking for without having to flag down an employee (though I'd like to note here that during the short time that I was looking for my item, 2 employees asked if I needed assistance - nice!) Elfa organizers have made our closets look like a showroom. The shelving and closet systems are awesome for maximizing space and functionality in a small area. Even our laundry room is completely different after installing pull out drawers and shelves to get rid of the clutter. Charlie at the Fairview store is a magic worker with design layouts and suggestions. She has designed 6 rooms for us and each one is perfect. She understands the needs for each type of room and puts a collaborative computer design together in minutes. Picking up the custom cut materials us easy. They bring it to your car and help you load it. Occasionally there are Elfa sales which make the cost more reasonable. The only reason for 4 stars is the cost. I came in looking for bathroom storage needs for my new place. I knew what I was looking for after research online, and easily found it in this well organized store. When I needed a trashcan I friendly employee showed me where to find those too. Checkout was quick with my moving 20% coupon I got in the mail. It is amazing to me this company is still in business. Consumers, on average, are paying 40-50% more for products at The Container Store that could be bought for less at Target, Wal-Mart, or even Lowe's or Home Depot. Having recently bought a new house close to the store in Fairview, TX, I'll admit I got caught up with the "coolness" of The Container Store. In fact, I bought nearly $400 worth of various knick-knacks for my new home. All the little things that would make my new house more organized. We also bought a CosCo step stool for $29.95. Later, I found the exact same thing .... EXACT .... at a nearby store for $18.97. No problem, I'll go back to The Container Store as I'm sure they will price match. WRONG! First of all, The Container Store does not have a price match policy posted anywhere. No signs in the store, not on the receipts. In fact, on multiple visits, I randomly asked different associates about their price match policy and I received responses ranging from "well, sometimes" to "we don't do it .... ever" because "not all items are the same in various retailers". Anyway, when I went back to the store to price match, I dealt with Charlie (female employee), who may be a fine individual personally but has no business dealing with the public. As I asked questions about the price match policy, under what circumstances do they match, don't match, etc. she stopped me mid-sentence and said "Sir, we DON'T price match. If you don't like that, you can return the item." While I appreciate a direct approach, is this really the type of person you want representing your store/company to all the soccer moms in the Allen/Fairview, TX area? As I walked away in disbelief, I grabbed my wife and we started heading towards the exit, I saw Charlie with another associate somewhat snickering. I walked up to them both and asked them if they were willing to lose my business for life over $11 ..... guess what the answer was? While I appreciate a company's policy that protects them and hopefully ensures their longevity, at the end of the day it is about how a customer feels and will they return to shop at your store and tell their friends and family to do the same. Specialty stores and boutiques are becoming part of the past, not the future, as larger retailers and internet channels continue to take market share away from this space. You have forever lost my business (over $11, by the way), and I will encourage my friends, family, and those that I work with to NEVER shop your store again. Their wallet will go much further (and for the same exact product), at a Target, Wal-Mart, or other various retailers. As of this writing, I have still not heard anything from The Container Store in terms of my feedback regarding their price match policy. This should really be 5 stars based on the always amazing customer service. I love corps that put the emphasis on customer service in such a way that you know without a doubt you will always have an exceptional experience. Again, I am not sure I should deduct a star when clearly their corporate office is doing such a fabulous job of training their employees and creating a great atmosphere, it is just that I always leave with such a big hole in my pocket! Went to get cart that goes to side of washer . Sales person was very knowledgeable about it . Helped measure it as they had 2 to pick from . Got the one that fit. When it was time to checkout they asked if we got emails from them. When we told her yes she asked for phone number and told us that we had 10% off. Nice surprise.
