This is such a fun home decor place! I found some great finds today and nothing was over priced! Great quality and nice employees!

Boho and farmhouse lovers unite! The Market at Fairview has it: candles, light fixtures, vintage books, dried florals, cushions, glassware, prints. Everything needed to create your own look! So so so much to take in and explore! The way in which the store is curated, it's just enough to gain inspo but still spread out enough to give you a treasure hunting high! Pricing was super reasonable (area rugs for $70, light fixtures around $100). Every crevice has something to look at!

This store boasts a good selection of books, pens, stationery, and puzzles, and there is something for everyone. I particularly enjoyed the cozy seating areas around the store. The store was peaceful and didn't have any offbeat music playing, which was nice. Plus, there was a used book section upstairs that was quite interesting. The books were priced fairly, similar to other indie bookstores. Overall, I'm definitely planning to come back when I'm in the area.

It screamed vintage Christmas to me as I stood in this beautiful bookstore. I had to find the children's area, and it was charming! A fake fireplace was designed just for the holidays, and so many diverse books were displayed for children and adults. There were so many great choices! And once you stop and really look at the store, you see the beauty it has to offer. Gorgeous old stairs cases take you up to the second floor that circled around the building and it was designed for readers. How thoughtful! Yes, the whole experience was appreciated. I felt the warmth of a bookstore bringing cheer to life. Oh, and I bet you're wondering if I bought the play A Christmas Carol - and the answer is YES! Signed and tucked into my purse, ready to add it to my Christmas decorations.

The price quoted was a lot with a 10 week wait! But after they explained what repair entailed and what to look for when purchasing a BIble that lasts, I understood. I didn't get the name of the person that spoke to me, but she had excellent customer service skills and she used them, taking time to explain the process so very kindly. I decided to just buy the kid a new Bible (one not glued, but sown together, her recommendation) but if I ever need a book repair service, they will surely get my business. And, I'll be sure to pass on their info. Customer service is a lost art, but not at The Book Doctor!

If you want a quick-and-dirty commercial fix, this is not your place. But if you are looking for a European time machine that will take a beloved book back to what it was or even better, this is the spot for you. We came to the Book Doctor with a small devotional, quite honestly a lost cause with no cover or binding and several severely damaged pages. We were hoping for some sort of cover and binding to preserve it since it is of great sentimental value and over 90 years old. What we received back was a gorgeous gem, a true made-to-order family heirloom. Not only was the cover beautiful, the binding is a work of art and pages we thought were lost forever were delicately and expertly restored. We stand amazed. Again, if you expect to do it on the cheap and have it by next week, forget it. But if the book in question matters to you and you budget for time and money, plan in advance, make an appointment with one of their experts, then expect the best. These are artisans who will pour all their skill and experience into your valued piece and devote entire days solely to its restoration.

But after giving this store a second chance, I feel parents deserve to know what to expect. A few weeks ago, I stopped in with my kids, who were excited to browse all of the adorable toys. Almost immediately, we noticed signs throughout the store emphasizing that this was essentially "not a toy store, but a place of business." The message came across as "children should be seen and not heard," which felt incredibly ironic for a business that exclusively sells children's toys. My kids are generally very well-behaved in stores. They know they aren't allowed to run, yell, or play with merchandise, and they certainly weren't being destructive. Like most children, though, they naturally picked up a few items that were displayed at their eye level. They were quickly reprimanded by both employees behind the counter for "looking with their hands." I chalked it up to a bad day. We left with a wish list because we don't typically buy toys unless our kids earn them. Today (8/12), my son had finally earned enough to come back and purchase something from his list. Unfortunately, the experience was even worse. While quietly browsing, both he and my eight-year-old daughter were once again met with visible annoyance and corrected for touching merchandise. If your business caters to children, it's unrealistic to expect them to browse exactly like adults. There's a huge difference between destructive behavior and a curious child gently picking up an item. Instead of making families feel welcome, the atmosphere made us feel like we were inconveniencing the staff simply by bringing children into...a children's store. Needless to say, we won't be returning. There are plenty of wonderful local businesses that manage to protect their inventory while still treating families with kindness and respect. May I offer one suggestion? If touching merchandise is truly such a problem, consider adding a small play table or designated hands-on area to redirect little ones. Or perhaps rethink the branding altogether. Ironically, my children receive a warmer welcome at the antique store down the street--where everything is actually breakable. Parents are your customer base. If you want their business, making both them and their children feel welcome seems like a good place to start.
