I've been coming to this location for a while now, but never found just the right "treasure". I had been looking for a table such as this for well over a year, with an empty dining room as a constant reminder. Yesterday I found a beautiful cherry wood dining room table, including 6 chairs for $1200. New! From beginning to end, my experience was nothing but positive. As we stood there discussing our potential purchase, two separate employees came by to ask if we needed help. When we finally did need help figuring out the tricky self-storing leaf, the gentleman I found was polite, cheerful and informative. He told us about our options (paying for it now and picking it up later, putting it on hold so we could go home and decide by tomorrow, and taking it home on a 24 hour trial period, after which we could bring it back, even though all sales are final). It was great to hear all of this up front so there were no suprises. We went home, measured, thought some more, and decided to buy. After calling the store back, we were told someone had placed another hold on it, so if we didn't snatch it up, someone else was poised to do so! Well, of course this made me spring into action. I paid by credit card over the phone, and took advantage of the delivery service they offered. They were upfront about the charges with this separate company, so you have to set things up/pay with the delivery company. I bought the table around 5pm, and by 6pm the delivery company was calling, asking when I wanted the table. I wanted as early as possible, so they offered me a window between 7-9am, even telling me that since I was the first delivery, it would be closer to 7am. Isn't it nice to have a smaller delivery window! If only cable guys were as considerate. The delivery company reminded me of the pay arrangement: : $75 for the first hour and each half hour on top of that is extra. They start time when the truck is loaded, time the trip over and just double the time for the return estimate, so you pay when they deliver the item. I guess you're hoping for no traffic on their way over. Again, upfront and no suprises. The next morning the delivery guys show up around 7:30am. I'm assuming they didn't hit much traffic! They brought the table and chairs in, set them up, and were quick about it! It's beautiful, just as it was in the store. No scratches or dents from the move out of the warehouse. I know if I did it myself it would have been a nightmare. I'm a happy camper! Shopping in this warehouse of a store really is like a treasurehunt. You have to squeeze by countless sofas, giant birdcages, coffee tables, dressers, desks, maybe even a pinball machine or foozball table. Everything i've eyed in the past had already been held or sold, so you have to act fast. Keep your eyes sharp because there's no real organization here, but the hunt makes it fun! Not really a place for kids, and definitely not handicap accessible with those small twisty aisles! read more

Update: To date, I believe everything has sold. We just received another random check for under $25, not sure what it was exactly that sold, but the selling was very easy. Once the movers dropped everything off, all we did was wait for the checks to arrive. It was a really great way to unload a ton of nice furniture without having to deal with Craigslist weirdo's and flakes. We have a few pieces from our own home that we are probably going to take to them to sell. Don't hesitate to sell anything here, just be prepared for them to not take it if it's not the style of their client base (which, based upon what they did and didn't take from my MIL's home, the style definitely tends to lean more towards traditional.) read more

Always a nice experience shopping here. Have had many excellent purchases. Just one caveat, make sure you check out the rugs carefully. One of the 3 that I bought here had a smell when I drove it home, but I thought it was a rug smell - a big rug rolled up and stuffed in a small car is going to emit a smell. However, the smell stayed weeks after I laid it out at home, and when I called HCC, the woman advised me to use febreeze. I didn't know what that was at the time, but I didn't want to mask the smell, I wanted to get rid of it. It has dissipated, but is not entirely gone. I will have to get it cleaned, and I think that should be done beforehand. read more

This store is terrible in terms of it's customer service. I left one piece of art there for sale. Few weeks later, I went back to the store to try to get it back since they never updated me if it's sold or not. The item was totally damaged!!! And they told me that was normal because they had too many items!! I couldn't take the item back anymore and they just told me: we will send you a check with half of the listing price and that's the best thing we can do for you. Wait a second, I don't care about the half price, what I care is your service, is how you treat your customer and their items!!! No apology for the damage and just sending a check is not the best solution to any customer!!! Besides this incident, I already felt that this store was so crowded, so messy and so over priced for long time. No wonder they have more and more stuff in the store because more and more people realized the same problems. read more

I have been shopping at Home Consignment since I have moved to the bay area over the last ten years. They have the best pricing and customer service in town. Where else can you find high-end furniture at a reduced cost. The furniture comes from estates, model homes, and also new furniture at a fraction of what you would pay from other retail stores. I especially like the new remodel since they have expanded their showroom. It allows for more staging so that you can capture how it would look in your home. Hmmm! To the majority of us we assume a good jewelry store has glitter and fulfills our status however I cannot agree with that notion. After pursuing the inventory at home consignments I was attracted to their jewelry case. Beaming up to me behind locked doors was an amazing arrangement of beautiful jewelry. I asked one of the sales associates if I could look at their gold earrings and she said certainly in a pleasant and calming voice. Her name was Nanette a lovely lady who without asking cleaned the pieces I was interested in and quietly placed them on a velvet cloth so that I might view their beauty. I decided on a beautiful pair of earrings which she promptly looked for more secure backings for them. She even offered me a lower price which was entirely new to me. Nanette carefully placed the earrings in a beautiful box and gave them to me not only at a discount but offered a beautiful bag to place them in. Yes I was delightfully surprised at Nanette's professionalism and kindness. Do I recommend Nanette and the Consignment Store in Danville? Definitely YES! read more

This is in response to the comments left by HCC Owner to my original review below. NOTHING stated in my review is fictitious. I still have one of the items represented to me as something it is not along with the original receipt from HCC. I have documentation from a certified jeweler stating what the item actually is and it's gold fill, not 14K gold. I would be happy to return it to you, along with the original receipt and you can test it yourself. Or, better still, refund my money. Do NOT question my veracity. And, when I returned the pendant, along with an appraisal from a jeweler, Bobbie, an Owner, along with Sharon, a Co-Owner pulled up an e-Bay listing of a pendant similar to the one I returned. They showed me the listing and made a point to tell me that this helped them set the price point for the pendant I had purchased. You can verify this with Sharon and Bobbie!!! I did not say that EBay is used as a comparison or to set prices for every item sold. But it WAS used when I returned the pendant. This is a fact. End of story. And I WAS made to pay for something that was broken at the counter, It was a black Jade bangle with a gold clasp and small rubies. It flew over the glass, smashed on the cement floor and broke and I was told that I had to purchase it by Deborah who left soon after and took over an HCC jewelry location in Southern California. I paid for it immediately. The "jade" turned out to be glass but the rubies and gold were real. Why do you insist on saying these claims are fabricated? They are not. They are all verifiable. To make me pay for a bracelet that I did not break, when I assume you have insurance to cover instances like this, was shocking to me and I was embarrassed. Especially after spending many $$$ over the years. Dan and the other co-owners can tell you that I was in often weekly mostly buying and sometimes consigning and before all this happened, HCC was a favorite place for me to shop. Your insurance should have covered the cost of the broken item. I am not saying that items were deliberately misrepresented to me. Mistakes happen but all of the items offered for sale in the jewelry dept. should be checked and perhaps checked again. I learned my lesson the hard way. I thought I had built a good relationship over the years but I was in fact, incorrect. I am disappointed and hurt. All that I have stated is factual and verifiable. read more

I dealt with 2 other consignment sources recently, and the service at Home Consignment Center was far and above the service I got elsewhere. Nga, in particular, was so helpful and friendly. She took a personal interest in making sure my items (an entire household of furniture) were well represented, and her updates were very timely. I felt as though she really cared about my experience. The store has a mover who will pick up items and deliver them to the store, and that again was a positive experience for me. We literally emptied a 3800 sq ft house and the process was straightforward. I would suggest having a preview ahead of time so that you are aware of what is a reasonable expectation on the prices of your items. I was there on Dec. 2 and asked about a framed print. I was offered 10% off. The price was high, in my opinion. The woman who works there said if the print was still in the store in 2 weeks, they would mark the price down another 10%. I went back on Dec. 16 and they refused to honor their commitment. I went to the one in San Ramon and I will tell you, while there is a lot of furniture there to look at most of it had a "hold" tag on it. I have kids and cats and so I am not interested in buying a new piece of furniture. Most of the pieces on the floor were samples from open houses and just a bit too expensive. The people that work there are very friendly and that is a plus for me. I guess maybe a Sunday afternoon is not the best time to visit. I will give it one more try but go during the week when perhaps all the "holds" will be lifted. read more

I went to this consignment shop because I had admired the furniture they had there. I found several pieces I liked. When I spoke to the salesperson about delivery, she told me it would be $75 an hour. Now, not all of us have vans to haul furniture. I think the delivery price is way too high and they don't seem to care either. The lady told me it would probably be a 1 1/2 hour fee to deliver and "set up" from San Ramon to Pleasant Hill. Forget it! I will never look there again. I also want to mention that two consignment stores, one in Walnut Creek on Parkside Drive, and one in Pleasant Hill on Contra Costa Blvd have nice furniture with low delivery costs. I have purchased and consigned furniture for many years here and have always been pleased with the level of service! They are quick to come to your home and offer prices within 24 hours on your pieces. They are very particular about quality which is great because they hold a high standard for their stores. When I shop I see that level and you never want to buy retail without a stop here first. I love that all the pieces sell fast so there is constantly new merchandise weekly! Very disappointing. After trying two times of first calling on the phone to ask if the Jewelry items I have would be something they would be interested in, (my items are gold, silver and high end Jewelry) they said they would be very interested in looking at them and were very friendly and encouraging on the phone for me to come in. Once I got to the store however... that is when it all went down hill. They act like you are bothering them by looking at your items. They also treated my items as if they were hardly worth anything and not worthy of their time. They on both occasions, I have visited them twice, now, practically pushed me out the door and told me to go elsewhere with my items. I am not sure how they manage to stay in business with this method. Also the women helping me are very old and seem like they would rather be retired. The second time I was in and while one woman was looking at my items and helping me a "friend" of hers came over and she just stopped what she was doing, ignored me, and started gabbing with her friend. Also as a important note, I found out from asking, they will charge you a fee if you decide to take your items before the amount of time they want you to have it in the store. So if you change your mind within that time frame expect a fee. I did not end up consigning here but it is good to know this sort of information. Another note, if you do consign anything here, if the person who buys your items pays with credit, YOU pay the fee that would be charged by them using credit, so you will get less than you expected. read more

Nice selection, mostly all new things at ok prices. The sales staff was really nice. DO NOT USE THEIR DELIVERY SERVICE. What a rip off. They tell you up front that the delivery service is an outside contractor and has nothing to do with them, but you know, they are the service they recommend so I think it reflects back on them regardless. The short of it, they say its $75.00 an hour, I live 15 minutes from the store, guys show up and already had a pre-made bill for 1.5 hours of time (115.00) and it took them 10 minutes to unload the furniture. They refused to leave until they were paid, it was pretty upsetting. I called the store and spoke with someone, they again tried to distance themselves from the delivery service. Rent a truck and do it yourself, or don't be surprised if you are charged more than is reasonable. Otherwise, I recommend them. read more

Any consignment store will be hit or miss, but Home Consignment Center is large enough to have decent variety. Appears as if the store is under new management. Use to be a ok place but on recent visits found the store staff unwelcoming and stiff. The inventory is neither good. Mostly junk. None of the staff acknowledged, smiled or volunteer their service. A Asian guy passed me several times with stiff face and didn't acknowledge or return my smile. LOVE this place. I find the fact that I get to trip around all kinds of treasures a blast. I could get lost in here for hours. Its very hands on, and sometimes legs on, feet on etc...ha ha. There is a lot of climbing around involved if you want to be sure and not miss any hidden treasures. They are very busy in there, but the Manager was so helpful and nice, never rushed me. I will go there regularly to look for new furniture. Prices seem mixed...some things were a really good value and others a little overpriced. But that's probably more dependent upon the owner of the piece being consigned than them. GO GO GO...you will be glad you did! read more

I have consigned here in the past and have had good to average experience. Most of my items they have accepted and when sold they would send me a check in the mail which is a plus I didn't have to call and check on items. However they do under price items significantly I think, it really depends on who is analyzing and pricing your item for sale as some of the ladies are not familiar with high end or custom furniture. The lady who helped me wanted to list my Rene Cazares a $7000 custom coach for $600, this coach was of great quality like new with no signs of wear. This place only sells traditional and contemporary furniture from the likes of Ashley or from mom and pop furniture stores like Ramos. They have home accessories and ugly fake oil paintings that my grandmother would buy. However they do have a good selection of jewelry that is fairly price with pretty good discounts. Customer service varies at times I've been greeted at times and I have not. Me personally, I don't really like to be bombarded with help right away. I like to browse discreetly and if I find something I like then I'll flag you down. read more

I love this place! I recently bought two bar stools and 2 chairs here. The bar stools were originally from Crate and Barrel and were a great value for the price. The two matching chairs were also a steal. They have great pieces especially if you are looking for something unusual or a specific style such as modern or mid-century. If you don't see what you like the first time, keep checking back in as the stock changes fast. I have also sold items with the Home Consignment Center. They will turn down stuff that belongs in a thrift store, but I was satisfied with how easy it was to consign and I received a fair price for the items they agreed to take. read more

It was crap experience!! It all look nice when you just window shopping. But once you decide to buy something and customer service was crap! They would tell you that they been working with delivery company for over 20 yrs and it's great service. When they came over to deliver they told us that we are here to deliver only. We don't set up anything. So they were here for 15 mins and charged us $75+$20tips with shitty attitude. Also the consignment store messed up our order gave us a king size mattress slide when we ordered the cal king. So we been told that we need to go back there to pick up the new one which we did, and the manager gave us a queen size! We told the manager what happened with delivery company, the manager said that they have nothing to do with delivery company and it's great that they even deliver to us. Lol my husband and I was shocked how they handle their customers problems. And the manager returned our call next day saying that it's our fault I would honestly say that the manager such horrible customer service and seems like no one else taking the responsibility. read more

My Husband and I bought a much larger home out of state and needed to fill it with elegant quality pieces that fit our traditional home and are affordable. We found this store and have made many purchases in prep for our move thousands of miles away. The store is in our current neighborhood which is a very affluent area. Consequently, people consign great things. Some of our purchases include Restoration Hardware cherry sleigh bed and 8 foot long farm table with 6 elegant chairs. We've also gotten a coffee table, leather tufted couch that matches a set we already have, a beautiful tv stand, art and much more. The workers are attentive and look to see where they can discount items for you when possible. They get new things constantly, so go early and often. Delivery options are available at an extra cost. This is REAL WOOD FURNITURE. Not the poorly made stuff they sale new in stores today. read more
