I have been saying First Merchants for decades since opening my first ever financial service with them in high school. I have expanded to other accounts as well for better credit card perks, app benefits, and less hassle than an old fashioned bank. I've noticed no loyalty rewarded here for long term users which is awkward compared to the serious cash back card options easily accessible and online options offering crypto investment platforms and all sorts of useful tools.

The vaulted ceiling showing in my posted photo will be similar to newly rebuilt Mooresville branch when it reopens this summer. I like these huge vaulted ceilings. They give the inside of the building a feeling of being outside while still being protected from the elements. Today was just an ordinary stop for an ordinary transaction. I found no waiting for a teller, friendly service and the usual efficient fast service. Parking was no issue and there were multiple drive through lanes in the rear of the building.

My dealings with Amy Twardosky at this office were absolutely horrendous. I had a one page tax report to be filed for an HOA association that Amy initially told me she'd file the next day. When five days went by without that happening, I placed a call to her, and she promised to get right on it. When ten days went by, I called her daily. Not only did she NOT return phone calls, but when I finally did reach her, she yelled at me because I was "being impatient." She did apologize before we hung up, saying she was stressed over recent wind damage to their office, and other tax returns. When she finally DID return my form, it wasn't signed or dated, and I'm still not sure if it was even submitted to the IRS because she never responded to my email. She is definitely NOT someone I want handling my taxes.

I went in to get a state tax return amended, I was quoted over the phone $50.00 when I sat down at this lady's desk she quoted me $75.00 then stated she'll HONOR the quote. Also, I made errors apparently on my Federal too. I was going to have her amend the Federal as well. But throughout the process, she asked me questions about identity theft, made multiple statements that I was going to get a notice from IRS because my return was incorrect, it's like she was trying to intimidate me or scare me-her way of conducting business was just terrible-demeaning the whole time. There were other customers in there that heard the whole conversation. She sounded desperate for business and ( my insurance Agent heard the conversation) because I was on the phone when I returned to get my documents I left. She started making comments about not being able to work on my taxes if I took all this paperwork back, she got a little irritated too. The female has blond, naturally curly hair, heavy and glasses? I would not trust her for nothing. I will also be reporting this to corporate & putting my personal information on Fraud Alert because she insisted on keeping my Personal Tax return that she printed.

I've kept my accounts here just because of convenience and longevity. Came to this branch at 1p to make a deposit. I asked for a notary service stamp and was turned down as I was told no one had "appointments". Having done these services for previous customers I said "it would not take more than 5 minutes to complete" to which one of the tellers replied "the bankers cannot 'squeeze' you in as they have appointments all day". I just made a comment that if no one was available, I didn't mind driving to UPS where they could fulfill this request without an appointment. I've kept my personal and business accounts with PNC as a previous employee. But have been very motivated in moving these to Chase as they seem to give less hassle for services.
