I stopped in yesterday to get a document notarized. After waiting in line, I asked the teller if a notary was available and explained that we just moved here and needed to get some paperwork notarized for our house we are selling back in Colorado. She said yes, but then asked "Do you have an account here?" I told her we did not have an account anywhere locally yet. She said "Then we won't do it. I think they have a notary at UPS or the post office though". For real? I have never had that issue in the past when I have needed something notarized. We did go to UPS after that to get the paperwork notarized (and hey, I didn't even have to have an account there!).
I understand we're not customers and would have been happy to pay for the service. At least I know now who I will NOT be using for our local bank. read more
