We had the best time at a Friday night show this weekend! The magic was excellent, the small setting made it feel so much more intimate. Will definitely be back - great for groups or a date night. What a cool evening to have in Charleston for the adult crowd. We laughed, we were mystified, and boy did we have fun, all delivered by the famous illusionist, Howard Blackwell. Conveniently located off King Street, this is a must-go stop while you're in town. But be sure to book your tickets in advance! Your night at Holy City starts with a cocktail hour and table side magic, meaning you get to be up close and part of the magic. During this time, we got to know Howard and the others in the crowd, making the whole experience very intimate. The magic during this portion honestly felt like it's own show - lots of card, coin and slight of hand tricks, all right before your eyes. Additionally, throughout the space there is lots of historic magic memorabilia to look at and read about. After the cocktail hour, everyone is seated for the full show. Howard Blackwell was expert at getting everyone involved, and bringing unique comedy to his performance. The show always felt tailored to our group - and in that way felt like a once in a lifetime set. With each trick, we were constantly on the edge of our seats wondering "how did he do that?!?!" - the answer of course being...magic And the finale??? Well, I won't spoil it for you. I would say this was the best date night we have had in a long time but the truth is it was the best night we have had in a while period. Howard and Gogo blew our minds with their craft and we laughed nonstop. We can't wait to go back and this is at the top of our list for places to take those out of town guests. First, staff is very welcoming. We were shown to our seats and shown where the bar and restrooms were located. While waiting for the main show, we were entertained by GoGo who is masterful at what he does! Then the main show started and, "WOW", we were not disappointed! Loved the way GoGo told his story through magic, and how he interacted with the audience! And the experience didn't end there...we were furthered amazed by Jason performing the after show feats. What a terrific show! I'm usually a skeptic about magic shows, but boy was I impressed and amazed! I smiled with delight as I was left wondering how'd he do that?! This intimate venue starts out with a cocktail hour where a magician wows the crowd with up close tricks. Then the show which lasted about an hour and a half with an intermission went by so fast as I was so enthralled in the show. Audience participation is a thing here, so be prepared. Howard Blackwell is enchanting and entertaining. This is a fun and unique entertainment option. Catch dinner nearby and then the show-that's what we did! The bar serves beer and wine which is nice. This is an upstairs venue right off of King St. , so stairs are the only way up. There are supposed to be different guest magicians each weekend. I look forward to taking in another show. read more

Holy city magic was an amazing time! When we got there they let us reserve our seats with cards. The venue is small and intimate, but getting there early put us close to the front. As soon as we approached the bar, the magician, Howard Blackwell, was performing tricks behind the bar. Howard had people involved in his magic as soon as they walked in. Josh, our bartender, was also great. He was very on top of making sure we had full drinks in hand. The show was above and beyond my expectations. I would recommend for anyone visiting, as well as locals looking for something different. Howard is the ?owner? and house magician, but they also have traveling acts.
