I love a good improv show so I was happy to find Front Porch while I was in town for a couple days. I was surprised to see a show so late, but it gave us a chance to still do something fun after dinner. The show we went to seemed to be like an add on show from the main event just before. They seemed surprised that we showed up for just the late show only. Anyway, it was a beginners improv night with some guidance from the regular players. We had a lot of laughs even though it was only about 40 mins. Next time I'll come for one of the regular shows because everyone was so nice and I really enjoyed the space. read more

Last night we attended the 830 show! It was good! Would have been better I think if we had been at an event with less high schoolers. Seemed to be a theater class there. They were fine and respectful just felt like the comics held back a little because it was kids. We will def go back for a 21 up show. We will won these tickets over Christmas so it was a nice surprise to get to do something in our own town that we had not done. The comics were good we had great laughs. Went to their Squeeky Clean show and it was great! The actors were so creative and since it was a family friendly show, they were so great with all the kids who volunteered. Even though it had lots of kid involvement, it was still a great time for adults. Little snacks and drinks at the concession if you're feeling peckish which was nice. Just a fun way to enjoy a Saturday!! The 4/5 stars is because parking is traaaash! Missed the start of the show because we were circling the block like hawks looking for parking. Not the biggest deal if you head there a little early, just be aware of that when you go, which you should!! read more

HILARIOUS. This troupe is awesome. The concept of the evenings show was really fun - and the audience clearly was engaged and really enjoying themselves. The seats were comfy and the concessions were good. They started with a long form improv show for the first half and then after a brief intermission moved on to play fun improv games. I have to admit... I was not super excited about attending Front Porch when a friend unexpectedly bought my husband & I tickets to attend with him & his mom last summer. I wasn't familiar with improv/comedy type shows, so naturally didn't ever have interest to go. After experiencing Front Porch, my whole view has completely changed - to the point that we took another group of friends back for a second time last weekend! We've been to both of their murder mystery (Blood, Actually) & more generic improv shows. (Big Awesome Improv Show). It looks like they offer family friendly & open stage style shows as well. The improvisers are witty, respectful, clever & extremely talented. The staff was welcoming, helpful & energetic. The space is intimate, cozy & unique. There is a bar for refreshments & snacks for purchase. It's also easy to walk to other establishments for a pre-show dinner or cocktail, if you're looking to make a night out of it. What a cool unique experience! A large group of us decided to go and see the show on a Saturday night. And it was a great experience! The venue is so cute. They have a small bar where you can order drinks but not sit down. They offer like two of everything! So you can can certainly find something you like. They offer free popcorn! Amazing! A price you cannot beat! They have designated large men and women's restroom that were very clean. The staff everywhere were soooooo nice! If you get the performers a round of beer be ready for a big surprise ( I won't spoil if for you here). The prices are reasonable on everything. They offer student discounts which is nice. The show was great! We especially enjoyed garrett zajac and his recurring ladder. How funny! I've heard they have a rotating group of 20 and there were 6 in our show. So it might be different everything you visit. The crowd gives topics and suggestions so that adds to the fun. They got two girls up on stage at one point. That bit was pretty funny! It's a little like Whose Line is It Anyway where they play games it appears they have played before. And they have a keyboard Player that added music from time to time. It's a fun time! read more

What a talented bunch of folks! My husband and I have been meaning to go to one of Front Porch Improv's (FPI) shows, but it just never seemed to be a good time to make all the arrangement for childcare and all the planning a date night entails when you have young kids. Last week, I had seen an event listing that FPI would be performing at The Savannah Cultural Arts Center on a Saturday afternoon and saw that it was a family friendly show, so I jumped at the chance and immediately booked the tickets to check it out with the fam. - Admission - Tickets were only $5 and were available to purchase directly on FPI's website. Children 5 and under were free. It was a super easy process where you just indicate the number of tickets you desire, plug in your credit card number and then they send you an email with all the tickets. - The Show - The show was awesome! I am still in awe of what these actors do on the daily. They don't have a script, just a bunch of random ideas, which means, they have to wing it ALL. OF. THE. TIME. They have to be quick witted and think on their feet with whatever the crowd throws at them. And with kids, it's even more challenging, because some of the younger kids just didn't understand the question and the kids give suggestions that don't make sense, but the group made it work anyway! I also loved seeing the actors chuckle at their own ideas as they were developing them and acting it out and the way they were feeding off of each other. Sometimes, I think it's actually funnier to watch someone laughing than what they are doing to make you laugh. It's contagious, don't you think? The show was about an hour long and I think that was the perfect length, given their target audience for this show. They got all the kids involved in the last skit and the kids loved that! - Heads Up - 1. FPI is the group behind Savannah For Morons, the comedy trolley tour with two guys in rompers, claiming their twins. Hmmmm...perhaps brothers from another mother? 2.They are in the process of renovating their own space to perform and it will be ready in February 2020! I can't wait to check out one of their shows for the mature audience after seeing the family friendly one. Laughter is THE best medicine and these guys are the best cure for any day! read more

The perfect thing to do for a girls weekend in Savannah on a Friday night. Our group of five ordered tickets online and came in right at show time. We luckily (and slightly anxiously) we're still able to secure good seats in the front. This was my first improv show so I don't have a good measure for these things but I will say the cast is absolutely hilarious. They engage the audience frequently and also showcase different types of improv. A small but reasonable menu of alcohol is available for purchase-- wines, beers, seltzers, etc. This place fosters an inclusive and accepting culture that is undeniable- we talked with a few of the cast members after and everyone was down to earth, friendly, and relatable. Overall, I'm surprised we didn't pay more money to see a fun show like this. Definitely worth checking out when visiting Savannah or making part of your regular rotation of entertainment if you're a local!! read more

I love that that genuinely appear to behaving fun, and can also laugh at themselves. The troupe is genuinely likable as much as they are funny. I usually don't like improv because I think it is usually lame and not very funny.... people that write comedy sketches or write & rewrite standup routines usually aren't naturally funny and quick enough to make improv funny. this group, under the leadership and vision of the owners and lead actor/comedians have developed a formula that builds a funny comedy sketch, a real sketch, around the inputs from the audience, but the talent chooses the actual input to craft their story addition. first showing is for a fee, 2nd showing is free to let the junior players get experience....I suggest first time go to both shows. get there early, they sell out and may be hard to sit together. They have wine & beer and limited snacks. we caught their crazy holiday special show and they made up a 'christmas movie' from the audience suggestions, following the Hallmark blueprint. hilarious. 2nd show, fascinating to see the same formula produce a completely different funny outcome. Wow!! First time seeing this while visiting family and let me tell you..HILARIOUS!! Small intimate venue..you can buy popcorn which is all you can eat if you need a snack. They have some beer and wine options which is nice but the main attraction obviously are the comedians. Solid!! My measurement for funny is if I almost pee my pants. Check!! As part of our Savannah trip we took a comedy bus tour 'Savannah for Morons' (also a fantastic way to spend a few hours) and the stars recommended the Front Porch Improv show that night. Spent a girls' weekend in Savannah. Went to Blood, Actually on the recommendation of a friend of a friend (who loved that place so much she donated enough money to earn her a brass plaque in the she/they bathroom). We had a great time! I'm a sucker for improv comedy, always have been, and this place is one of the best I've ever been to. We got tickets for the New Year's Eve show and sat in a V.I.P section (a raised platform with dishes of candy). The performers were engaging, hilarious, and knew how to work the crowd. AMAZING!!!! 80's Murder Mystery! We had a private event at our Airbnb for our friends 50th birthday! I had no clue what to expect as I have never planned anything like this.....to say it was the funniest, most different experience any of us has ever had is an understatement! Shaylyn and the rest of the cast were so fun!
