The performers seem like cool people that are probably the funniest people in the friend group and would be a blast to be around. But I didn't laugh once at this show. First, they chose someone from the audience to come up and answer questions, the answers which were meant to infiltrate the rest of the show. Which is the only reason I would come back here--maybe next time they choose a better or more interesting person? This time they chose an obnoxious drunk guy who used an Arabic slur at the end of his time. To the point one of the cast made a visibly disdainful face. And then he spent the entire hour (right behind me) guffawing at every single thing and repeating jokes over and over to himself aloud. This is a small venue. Bar is cash only. My show was only about 11 bucks, which is more than reasonable, and the only reason I am not outraged or unwilling to try again. They also have even cheaper shows and different themes.

Absolutely wonderful & intimate comedy show setting. This is an up close and personal experience,…read morewhich is harder to find in the past few years. This was our first visit and excited to come back! The building is attached to Kings BBQ for delicious before show bites. We went for their "Golden Hour" and loved every moment. Glad we got there early because the parking lot does fill up quickly. There is additional parking around the venue, if it's full when you arrive. The entrance leads directly into a large bar area, with seating along the whole counter. Basically this area is half of the building so is surprisingly large. They offer craft cocktails, local beers, and wine by the glass. The second half of the building is the stage and seating. Personal space is a premium here as every spot is used for the audience. We saw 3 two seaters tables along the back wall as welk as a few tables in the front row directly at the edge of the stage. Both areas are considered "upgraded" seating/tickets. Use that info when buying tickets. The rest of the seats (at least for our show) are open seating. My suggestion is not to wait too long to find seating once the doors open. Not that there is a bad seat, but I do like to have choices. We had two openers and the main headliner for our show. Everything ran smoothly, with good volume and pacing. They then had a merch area set up after the show, back in the lounge/bar area. This got a little extra cosy but everyone was respectful. We would 100% come back for another show!

Mostly going to be a fan's fan of deep cut comedy. They also have a rotation of local comedians too. The bar is solid and they have a bonus room upstairs. I saw Sam Tallent here and of course hilarious! They are also part of Charleston Comedy week in the winter, but worth checking out any time of year. Cheers!

The Charleston Music Hall itself is a beautiful, historic venue--intimate, well-maintained, and known for hosting concerts, comedy shows, and special events. The seating is comfortable, sightlines are good, and acoustics are solid, which definitely worked in favor of the vocal performances. The singers were clearly talented and did a great job vocally--everyone sounded wonderful, and there's no denying the performers can sing. However, we personally felt that the show didn't quite feel like a full "production." It leaned heavily on straightforward singing, with limited storytelling, choreography, or theatrical elements to tie everything together. This may come down to expectations and personal preference. Growing up around Broadway shows in NYC, we're used to more dynamic, story-driven performances with larger production value, and this didn't quite meet that standard for us. While others may enjoy it for the music and holiday spirit--especially in a cozy venue like the Charleston Music Hall--we would probably not attend again, particularly considering the ticket price.

We planned a fun evening to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday and decided to do "something…read moredifferent." We thought a dinner and show would be fun. Two stars is being generous. Let's start with the dinner. Definitely not the best food. When you arrive they had some pita chips and hummus and carrots and ranch dressing. Best part of the meal. They had water and tea on the tables and butter (but fun fact never brought any bread and said they "ran out before dinner"). Next came a salad, hard to mess up. You had two options, chicken or fish with rice pilaf and asparagus. Both the fish and chicken we very, very dry. We were supposed to get two dessert options and instead they just brought out a questionable cheesecake and said that was the only option. Thank God there was a bar that you could big drinks at so we could drink while we commiserated over a pitiful yet expensive dinner. Now for the show... yikes. Just yikes. There were some people who really enjoyed themselves (I think) but everyone at our table (including people not in our party and from out of town) thought it was laughable. The acting was meh. I think they tried to make it fun but it was really all over the place and no one had any idea what was going on most of the time. Again, thank God there was a bar. I don't think we will be suggesting anyone to try this in the future unless ALOT changes.

This could have been looked past with relative ease, if the show had been good. The show was not good. The "show" was completely unbelievable, there was not an attempt at suspension of disbelief. I believe they may have been going for comedy, which they had some success at. I laughed. Once in a while. But the issue is, it's called the dinner detective, and the "detective" part consisted of a series of "we found this NOTE and this DOCUMENT on the body inexplicably, so now scan your QR code to see it" and that QR code was the only place to get any clues. The theatre portion provided hardly any clues. You basically could have done this whole experience in fifteen minutes without looking away from the website on your phone if they just gave you all the "clues" (documents) off the rip. Also it was freezing in there. Overall, I would not recommend. It pains me to say this because I do like the actors/staff. They seemed genuine and full of energy. It just wasn't a good "detective" experience. Cool idea, lame execution.

I always love seeing the new artisans, artists, and performers come together and do what they love! The music was great as usual. Garage Cuban Band added a wonderful Cuban flare to the event! They were so good! It made me wish I was eating Cuban food while listening to their mellow vibe. The comedy line ups might have been the most popular event of the night. Before every set there was a line outside the door! Maybe it was because it was freezing outside and people needed warmth, or maybe it was because of hilarious comedians like Jeremy McLellan and Dusty Slay who filled the room with constant laughter. I really enjoyed the self-portrait exhibit. Where anyone could come in, look into a mirror and draw themselves. Although I didn't draw myself, It was really interesting to see how others perceived themselves. Simply becoming designs had some amazing original vintage inspired jewelry! My brother in law was able to buy a unique one of a kind necklace for his girlfriend. The fire pits were such a great idea for such a cold night. Everyone was able to enjoy all of the performances outside while still keeping warm. I always appreciate the Yelp Booth with their fun photo booth and check in swag. One thing I really wish is that they had more food venue options rather than the same ones every time. I know it's a small lot and you can't fit many trucks but it would be cool to have a more options. I also would like to see more places to sit outside. I still really enjoyed this event and will probably be back again!
