CHARLESTON MUSIC HALL - ONE OF THE BEST VENUES IN CHARLESTON!…read more We've been to the Charleston Music Hall quite a few times over the years, and somehow I've never gotten around to leaving them a review -- so it's definitely time! We were back again Saturday night to see The Fab Four Beatles tribute, and what an absolutely incredible show. It also reminded me just how much we love this venue. The Charleston Music Hall is such a great place to see a concert or show. It has that beautiful historic Charleston character, the atmosphere is fantastic, and one of the things I really love is that there honestly doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. The views are great from the main floor as well as the balcony, and the size of the venue makes everything feel much more intimate than going to a huge arena. We've attended several different events here over the years, and it's always been a great experience. They bring in an awesome variety of bands, tribute acts, comedians, shows and other entertainment, so it's definitely worth keeping an eye on their calendar. Another huge plus is the location. You're right in downtown Charleston and surrounded by some of the best restaurants, pubs and bars in the city, so it's incredibly easy to turn a show into an entire night out. Grab dinner beforehand, enjoy the show, then walk somewhere nearby afterward for a drink -- which is exactly what we love doing! Our night seeing The Fab Four was another perfect example. Fantastic seats, an incredible performance and a great atmosphere from beginning to end. If you live in Charleston or you're visiting and see something on the schedule that interests you, GO! This is one of those venues that really adds something special to the experience. Five stars and three thumbs up from us! Highly recommend the Charleston Music Hall -- one of our favorite places in Charleston to catch a show!

The performers seem like cool people that are probably the funniest people in the friend group and would be a blast to be around. But I didn't laugh once at this show. First, they chose someone from the audience to come up and answer questions, the answers which were meant to infiltrate the rest of the show. Which is the only reason I would come back here--maybe next time they choose a better or more interesting person? This time they chose an obnoxious drunk guy who used an Arabic slur at the end of his time. To the point one of the cast made a visibly disdainful face. And then he spent the entire hour (right behind me) guffawing at every single thing and repeating jokes over and over to himself aloud. This is a small venue. Bar is cash only. My show was only about 11 bucks, which is more than reasonable, and the only reason I am not outraged or unwilling to try again. They also have even cheaper shows and different themes.

Inside the theater, the seats were ok, but you can't expect extra comfort since I'm sure they can only do so much to improve due to its historic status. I was amazed at the cast of FOUR and their ability to play over 130 characters and do it so artfully. The play itself was a riot, on many occasion we were laughing out loud. It was a very fast moving play so you had to pay attention but that wasn't difficult. The theater itself is very quaint. During intermission we got lucky and got to watch a young boy, who was there to watch the show, serenade everyone on the piano. We didn't arrive early enough to get drinks before the show but they allow drinks in the theater so we ordered a couple of glasses of wine and enjoyed them during the second half of the show. I had such a good time that I tried convincing my husband to go back later that week and watch the show with me again! I look forward to returning for more shows!

Surprisingly he obliged with minimal grumbling (even for not being into shows, missing the Steeler game, AND it being a work night...double whoa)! The theatre is smaller than the ones I'm used to back home, but it made the experience seem that much more personal. There's a beautiful outside area that's open to the public, making it a perfect venue for the warmer winter nights! The only reason I'm giving it a 4 out of 5 is because the seats are a little tough to withstand for 2+ hours (however, typical of most classical art venues I've been to).
