Came here on Memorial Day for dinner; recommendation was a must. It was so hot that day, and they seated us first by the open air entrances, near the outdoor seating. I'm sure on any other day where it was not 95 degrees out, it would have been great. We had to move after a bit. We got a great tasting gluten free pizza which hit the spot. The crust was impressive...I have had a lot of gluten free pizza. Perfect size for two people. Service was great. After a while, the sun became our nemesis again. We had to move more interior. I think my only suggestion for the restaurant is in the summer, as the sun sets, make blinds or a sun blocking screen, an option. The sun was hitting many of us in the face in what is usually a great time of the dusk to be out, enjoying a great tasting meal with a cold beer. read more

I've been meaning to update my review of Holt's for awhile, after having been there dozens of times. This is a clear 5-star in Park Ridge. The beer selection is outstanding, the craft cocktails creative, and they roll out the red carpet with drink specials like their bloody mary bar. My favorites on the menu are the steak sandwich, the italian beef pizza, the cheese curds, the custom burger, and the sausage/biscuits/gravy. We had a guest from out of town, and we took them to Holts. While it was the day before Thanksgiving, and we expected it to be busy, it certainly felt like the restaurant wasn't prepared for the crowd. We put our name for a table, which we expected to do, and were told it'd be about a 25 minute wait. Again, that's fine and dandy. We'll head to the bar for a drink. The bartender was not feeling it. She seemed overwhelmed and gave us a drink menu that was so sopping wet, we couldn't lift the pages. We asked for a new menu...that seemed to make her even more disgruntled. Finally, after about 15 minutes, we've got a drink. Our table is ready: super. We head to our table...takes about another 10 minutes before we see our server. We've had a chance to look over the menu, we're ready to order right away: two pizzas. After 50 minutes of no food, I find the server and ask if our food is on its way. He apologizes and goes to look. Magically, our food comes out in 2 minutes and it's overdone to a crisp and cold! But everyone is so busy, I can't even catch their eye. Needless to say, our out of town guest wasn't really impressed, and I think we'll think twice about heading back to Holts on a busy night. read more

Ok so I have dined here a few times and had cocktails a few times. Park Ridge has expanded their restaurants in the downtown significantly since the addition of many shops and other places to eat. I find the food to just be average. If you want cocktails al fresco on their sidewalk or want to hang outside at one of their long tables with retractable doors and have a beer which is what the liquor menu runs heavy on then this is your place. It's a great location on the corner right near tracks and completely walkable to/from in the downtown area. Wine choices which is my go to is limited although they do offer a nice rose. And your standard Sauvignon Blance. But the draft & craft beers are where it's at. Service has always been friendly and attentive. read more

First time here. The service was disappointing. After bringing water, we didn't see our server for several minutes. The coffee I ordered took several minutes to come as well. I ordered the fish tacos - seasoned cod on corn tortillas. The tortillas were soggy and the dish overall was bland. Had to flag down our server to get a refill on my coffee. In the summer at 4:30 PM I was driving by and decided to stop and have a beer at one of the empty outside tables. Before I could finish that beer a very unfriendly guy approached and rudely said, " You can't sit here." He didn't identify himself or say anything else. Later I found out he was the manager. I asked where he expected me to finish my beer. He replied, "Try the bar, but you can't sit here." That was the extent of our dialogue. I asked the hostess for the owner's card and told her I hadn't been treated that rudely by anyone at any restaurant, ever. Nor should any customer. I emailed the owner, and he never replied. I was never impressed with the food, and the service was indifferent and slow in the couple of prior visits I made. There is no reason ever to come back. read more

Good but not great seems to be a fair assessment. I was here with a group of maybe 8 girls. We all ordered something different- one girl got a pizza and a few people got breakfast type food. I got the salmon BLT which was good. I felt the salmon was kind of dry (which seems unusual to me for salmon) and the sandwich was supposed to have a citrus dill mayo but they literally put a microscopic drop on it. So it was a little dry overall. The reason I didn't give more stars was really the service. We could never ever find our waitress. Once the food came she was gone. No check in's to see if we needed anything. Girls had mimosa glasses that were empty and they wanted to order another drink. I was out of diet coke and wanted to order another. I also wanted some more ketchup for my fries and some additional mayo for my sandwich. Another girl wanted some mustard and ketchup for her food. We kept spotting her at the bar chatting with the bartender but never circling around to the tables. I finally asked a different waitress if she would find our waitress for us so we could get drink refills, and condiments and other things the girls wanted. The food was good- just not great. I like this place in Park Ridge. I will be honest that this bar/restaurant is more suited to be located in Chicago, but I am glad they are here. The food is typically very good. I have had many things on their menu and I would recommend the cheese curds, wings and burger. The burrata is also very good. The biggest complaint that everyone has about this restaurant is a noise and slow service. Both are fair concerns as it does get pretty loud and busy so the service tends to slow down a lot. The beer selection is pretty good. It is a nice addition to the neighborhood but a little too pricey if you are just grabbing a quick lunch. read more

The food in this place is just so good that you cannot go wrong even if you order any dish on their menu. I know this place for years and each time I would visit it the food would always be great and delicious. I visited the restaurant recently and I must say that it is a good one. The staff are still friendly and attentive and the service is still quite fast. I ordered their salmon blt since I haven't tried it and added some fish tacos cause the salmon blt is definitely not enough for brunch. The salmon blt is good but honest it is not what I expected or maybe I just expect something phenomenal and something better but it was good but it has nothing special to it. However, I like their fish tacos like usual. It is just delicious and it has a nice portion. Their cocktails are also great and I highly recommend to order their cocktail if you also visit this restaurant. It is still a nice brunch. Couldn't be more pleased with our experience and food at Holt's yesterday. My husband and I made an online reservation, through Open Table, about a month ago for our daughter's baptism. We had a large party of 19 people- kids and adults. We picked Holt's after viewing their menu, location and hours. The afternoon before our reservation we were pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call from one of the owners. Brad called to discuss our desired menu and seating arrangements. Now, THATS HOSPITALITY! Brad went through the menu with us and helped us create a family style serving menu. Not only did the food come out fast and hot, but it was Delicious! Lastly, and I wish we knew his name, our server was fantastic. I never saw an empty drink glass and he ensured that everyone's needs were met. Overall, great food, atmosphere and service. Nice place to hang out, especially with a larger group. We came here on a Monday night with about 10 people in our party, there was also another group of at least 30 near by. The menu was smaller then I was expecting but I was able to find something. The mac and cheese o ordered was delicious, and everyone else at the table was happy with what they got as well. We ordered one of their specialties to share as an appetizer, the hot Cheetos pizza. Came here for the first time after hearing about how good the specialty pizzas were and was not disappointed. Everything on the menu looked tasty which made it very hard to choose, however I went for the elote pizza and was not disappointed. It was not what I thought it would be, but for a pizza the way they made it just really works. The combination of flavors makes every bite taste a little different in the best way, and the chicken adds a nice twist. I got the pizza for myself while my friend got the avocado and burrata sandwich and had good things to say about it, it also looked delicious and fresh. I was only able to get through half the pizza, so it's good if you want leftovers or a meal to share between 1-3 people. Pricing is fair as well, the pizza was around $17 and my friend's sandwich was around $11. The inside of the restaurant is well decorated and very cute, the only downside was we got a table right by the windows where the air conditioning system was and cold air was blowing on us so hard the whole meal that hair kept getting in our faces. Depending on the time of day, it gets a bit busy because I had previously tried coming in the winter for dinner but the wait was an hour. There is ample parking in uptown Park Ridge so that is never a problem. I highly recommend the specialty pizzas to anyone that wants to try Holt's. read more

The fries are made by hand and go through a very long process before they even arrive to your table making them even more delicious! The mini sliders taste incredible and the beef tastes fresh. I came here on a Thursday night around 7pm to have a belated fathers day dinner. It was a perfect summer day so they had the windows/doors open and it was a great way to still enjoy the summer breeze even if you didn't get a seat outside. We got a 6 person high top table but it was really loud. It was hard for us to have a conversation inside with our group. Besides the noise we were really excited about trying out the food. We got some cheese curds for the table which were delicious and were little bits of gooey cheese heaven. I ended up ordering the house burger (Marinated Cremini Mushrooms / Cheddar / Pretzel Bun) and I can't resist a pretzel bun. The burger was great, it was still juicy and everything was great. It is one of those classic burgers where you don't need to add much to it and can just grab it and bite into it. I definitely will come back with some friends who want to catch up but I would not recommend this place for a family get together where you want to hear what everyone is saying. read more

I think it is a little over priced for what you get and three times that I've been there the service has been slow though the restaurant was not busy. I really do not like writing bad reviews (this is only my second or third) but the service there was absolutely terrible. I came to eat on a a Friday night with my parents and we were seated near the door, but it was cold and we asked to move (it was chilly and near the front door). We moved and the server came over multiple times to take our order. We ordered 2 beers and my mom had a cocktail. The drinks were fine, but a full pint would have been great for a craft beer for that price. We received our food and it was good but the waitress came over multiple times before we had finished to take out plates. The server obviously wanted to turn over the table without telling us she wanted to turn over the table!! My dad left an OK tip (only 20%) but he is usually much more generous. I know that this review is pretty futile as this is a very popular restaurant, but I am writing this because I am truly disappointed. Holts will continue to be a popular restaurant and this review will be seen as a lame disgruntled customer, but I would hope the management and staff would want to do better. read more

My boys ordered steak sandwiches - the steak was tough and had no flavor whatsoever and the pieces were cut up almost like they had been repurposed from something else. Fries were stale and cold. The bread on my salad and the sandwiches was stale and flavorless. Such a disappointment for a $20 sandwich. Waitress checked on us one time and completely ignored multiple requests for items. I have been to Holts in the past when the food was fantastic and service was on point. Perhaps they were having an off day but for a $100 lunch for people, this was a major let-down. read more
