One of the WORSE manicure experience I have ever encountered in a long while. NONE of them are officially licensed professionals except for the one who sits at the front (perhaps owner/partner) who speaks fluent English. Although I would still question the authenticity of her license. Anyway, the woman who did my manicure clearly does not know how to trim cuticles nor as simple as applying gel polish correctly. The side of each finger was literally tore up. It doesn't even look like I just had a manicure. The skinbaround the nail was not trimmed smoothly. I don't even know how to explain it. Just plain HORRIBLE! What was also frustrating is that she doesn't even speak English and we couldn't communicate properly. She was also in a huge hurry for some reason while the entire place was EMPTY. Why the rush?? And on top of it the gel color didn't even match the pedicure even though it stated the same name and number on the bottle. The owner suggested to apply a different color over the three coats that has already been applied to mask it. WTF??!! Really??! Now it's been 24 hours and the nail color on my hands have completely warped into a disgusting yellow color that clearly does not match the color on my toes!! And I can't believe the girl who speaks English had the audacity to say, "sometimes the color doesn't match even though it's the same number". Uh, WHAT??? What kind of product are you buying??? Does not make any business sense what so ever!! The same girl who might be part owner gave a half ass apology and like they always do started speaking God knows what in Vietnamese to each other which is annoying AF for customers (and before anyone gets offended I'm Asian American, and yes, I get it). She ended up hiding in the back and continued to inquire in Vietnamese to the two older ladies as I paid FULL effin' price and left very upset. And majority of their nail color selections are OLD AF and very CHEAP looking. Brands that I have never heard before. WHY have that kind of inventory on display?? I was referred here by Nancy T. I always love her nails and every time I saw her I would ask where she got her nails done. I was intrigued by the full set, gel, and 3d designs from this place she called "Holly Nails." Since I am usually in Irvine or Upland, this is a bit out of my way for a simple manicure. However Nancy and I had plans to get our nails done together, since she had another wedding coming up and my birthday is coming up. We both did a walk in around 6pm (the shop closes at 7pm) and they were happy to take us. INITIAL REACTION.. .. park behind the spot, there's 2 hour public parking and their back door is open, as well as their front door, to welcome customers. Then when I went in, I noticed it was not as fancy or as modern-looking as the places I was accustomed to. It was simple. Perhaps the spa-pedicure chairs are a bit out of dated. But after going to "Oh my Nails" in irvine, i dont care about how the store-front looks. I spend 1-hour at that spa, but I spend weeks with my nails... ahhaha :) SERVICE: after much hesitation and indecisiveness, I wasnt sure if I wanted to get a french manicure or the gel service again. I was going back and forth as Linda took off the gel I already had on ($3). She was very patient and she just let me ramble as she gently took off my prior ugly-gel job from Oh My Nails. Linda gave me my manicure (9). She trimmed my nails down, cut my cuticles, mini-hand massage, and then she what service I would like, to make sure she was giving me what I want I decided on the glittery purple, french-like gel ($13). Their gel services varies, but I like that everything is clearly labelled, so you dont get tricked into paying more for your service. The price is straight forward. First a clear lay was applied, then purple glitter, another purple glitter, fine glitter in some spots, bigger gradient of glitter in some spots, and a clear coat. My hands were in and out from the uv-dryer thing 6-times each. LOL!! Linda was very meticulous about my nails. I am a very picky person about my nails, so this is hella props. She made sure every layer came on smoothly, evenly, and perfectly. She always cleaned the edges of my nails/cuticles with a brush to make sure none stuck to my skin. I can touch my nails right now and feel a flat &smooth surface... After my nails were done drying, Linda checked over my nails to make sure that everything was still perfect. She was so nice. She applied cuticle oil to my nails to make sure it didnt dry... I thought that showed how skilled she was, compared to the lady Ive had it done at before in irvine. Linda also applied the massage lotion to my hand, to make sure that doesnt dry out either. ADDITIONAL NOTES: - $1 charge if you want to use your debit/credit cards, bring cash!! - a random customer came in close to 7pm, but they were telling me that they are willing to open til 8pm on some days if you ask them ahead of time :) I will definitely come back and bring here with my friends and my cousins. The women did not want to push down my cuticle for a new acrylic set. She said I needed to pay extra for that. She added that she had already sanded down my cuticle with the drill bit. When I said there was still some cuticle there she said if I wanted more taken off I'd have to pay extra. I understand that a manicure would be more, but why is it not apart of the acrylic service to push the cuticle down to have the acrylic close to nail bed? I ended up agreeing to paying extra to have cuticle push down and sides cleaned up BUT SHE WAITED TILL AFTER MY NAILS WHERE DOWN AND PAINTED to then push the cuticle down and clean sides. To which I said NEVERMIND. If she pushed it down after my nails where done she would expose all the nail that never got painted and my nails would instantly look grown out. I have been coming here for years now. For one, I have always had good service and have always left been pretty happy with my nails. There have been times that I thought maybe I needed a full set of acrylics, but the owner always assured me that he could clean up my nails really well and that he only need to make a little repair here and there. I have only experienced my gel nail color peeling once. And while it was inconvenient, it was something that the owner touched up for me, for free. My go to girl for my pedicures is named Linda. She is so sweet. She always takes really good care of me. We always have and share a good laugh with one another, talk about her children, and any upcoming trips that I might have. She has always been very social with me. I really appreciate that. I continue to go about every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to have my nails touched up. Sometimes I need to fill. Sometimes I need a pedicure. Sometimes I need both, or sometimes I just need my color to be changed. Mac is my go to nail tech. He really takes his time and he will ask me very often about what shape I want, whether my nails are too short or too long, if I would like them more narrow, if I prefer my corners to be very sharp and square, or to have square edges but with slightly narrow, rounded corners. Really, he can do it all and he's very accommodating. The one thing that I like the most is that he always takes his time. He has a very light hand. His work has always been great. Until those things change, I will continue to be a loyal patron. Another thing that has me coming back is that the prices are very reasonable. Where I live, one of the moderately popular places in my neighborhood, they charge about $90-$100 for a full set with gel color. We are only talking about gel color, not gel nails and gel color. I'm sorry but that is just too much for me. That's awesome for those who can afford it, but my nails to me, they're more like a fashion accessory, something I change up pretty often and depending on my mood. read more

She only gave me the option of fixing them and charged me full price! She fixed them along with her comments, talking about my nails to all of the workers and while being so Rude! Went in there with our dirty dusty feet n toes...I told her to go first and I got the second available lady, Wendy. After a short while, Wendy asked if I spoke Chinese-Canton. So we began engaging in a Cantonese conversation. I told her I get really paranoid when they start digging in (girls, you know what I'm talking about). She ensured that she would be gentle. Wendy did not fail. She kept her words and I am satisfied. My color stayed on for a good 2.5-3 wks before I had to go back. Wendy is my personal Manicurist. She's great!! I've been going to them ever since. I've taken my other gal-friend there and treated her for her bday and my sister, as well. Holly Nails is not a fancy nail salon but if you want great manicures/pedicures for seriously cheap then come here. I would recommend seeing Joann. She's the best at gel manicure designs. Her work is super cute and she's actually nice to you. My gel manicures from here always last the longest. I get the fading color tip with glitter so that it doesn't look bad when your nail starts to grow out. I get tons of compliments at work all the time and people asking me where I got my nails done. I got a regular pedicure with white french tip and a gel manicure with the fade and glitter this last time. The total came to $36! I have paid more than that for just a gel manicure alone. It's really the best price for a great quality of work. They do take credit cards but for $1 additional charge so it's best to bring cash. read more

I've been reluctant to write a review on this place because I wanted to keep it as my little secret. However, after becoming Duchess of Hollys Nails Spa, I think it's time. My favorite nail spa, not the most glamorous but the prices are just so right! $20 for a spa pedicure with french tip and a simple line design. If I recall, it's $16 for normal (not spa) pedi with french tip. There is an additional $1 charge to use credit card, but with prices like this, I don't mind. Linda is my girl for pedis and Maggie is my mani girl. Love them! I once messed up my pedi the same day and Linda fixed it for me for no additional charge! PLUS! They open really late. 7PM on weekdays and will often still take walk-ins at 7. I was there til about 7:20PM last night and everyone was still working. I wanted to get my nails done since I was on vacation. I wanted to have long nails with a ton of bling on them. I yelped for places that did designs and this place stood out the most. I was expecting it to be more upscale when I walked in but it turned out to be a hole in the wall salon. It's a typical nail salon with Vietnamese workers. Yes, they do talk sh*t about you if you complain or make them fix your nails the way you want it. I was shaking my head when I heard what one of the workers was saying about the client. Very nasty comments. I sat there for two hours getting my nails done and heard nothing but bickering/complaining about who gets to work on the walk-ins. If I didn't tell them I was Vietnamese they would probably end up talking sh*t about me too. The owner did my nails and he seemed like a down to earth guy. He did an excellent job because my nails didn't lift. The girl who did my designs is amazing! She has skills that comes natural to her. My designs looked good for a week but then the rhinestones and charms started to fall off. It's weird because I haven't lifted a finger or did anything for them to come off so easily. I was charged $25 for my full set and $50 for my designs and tipped them $20 each. I guess that would seem expensive for clients who come to this salon but I thought it was pretty cheap considering how much effort they put in. I would know, because I'm a manicurist/esthetician and wouldn't charge that little for amazing work and would get upset if I got a cheap client. Basically, just come here if you want nice designs. I came in here today for my first time. I've been searching for a clean, nice, and decent nail salon for the longest time. I've never found a place as good as Exotic Nails in West Covina & Pedi-manikool Nail Care in Tustin, CA. =( but Exotic Nails is a lil too far and Pedi-manikool is way too far. I read the reviews for this place and thought I'd give it a try since it's close to home. I came in at around 1130AM, it was pretty empty. Plenty of parking in the back and front. The place isn't as clean as my two favorite salons, I'm not a big fan of getting pedicures done at the manicure station-where you soak your feet in middle of the room in a box with no massage, I prefer the spa chair pedicures. I asked for a manicure and pedicure and they sat me at a table =/ no one really speaks English well here. The lady who did my nails was super sweet. She cut up my cuticles twice and they wouldn't stop bleeding and she felt so bad =P I didn't mind so much but she sort of panicked. haha overall she did a good job on my manicure and pedicure w french tips. Total was $22 which is a lot cheaper than the other places. Overall, I question the cleanliness of the salon. I'm a little worried that they don't clean their tools =/ and the whole salon just looks messy. My toes were still wet and I stepped down on a bunch of clipped nails...ew..... so minus 1 star there. I did take a look at their nail designs and they look pretty cool, I think I might give it a try one day. Overall, the price is good and the quality of work is okay. I love cute people. "Maggie", the woman who did my nails is so cute, I want to learn Vietnamese just so we can talk! She meticulously did my manicure with gel nail polish, and now I'm all ready to go for the holiday parties! A manicure is $8, gel nail polish is $8 (although, their service menu says $5), and a design like the picture I took is $3. I'd have to say I'm a fan now of gel versus regular polish, because first of all, I didn't have to awkwardly try to open my wallet to avoid messing up the paint job, and second, it lasts longer than regular nail polish (2-3 weeks). The store is not exactly the nicest of nail shops, but it reflects in the cheaper pricing. Maggie still did a wonderful job, and my nails look good! $16 to be pampered and primped? The first time I got my nails done here, I was a bit hesitant that a dude was going to do my nails.... thankfully he was only prepping my nails for a manicure before one of the ladies would take over. The manicurists are great and accommodating. They've even offered suggestions in the past like combining a solid color that I'm not exactly IN LOVE with and another polish that has some glitter. The only thing that I wouldn't recommend is a French manicure with your natural nails... that's the only design that I wasn't impressed by here because they used a rounded pattern to spray on white polish rather than doing it free handed. But the primary reason that I come to Holly Nails Spa is for the waxing. I've only gotten my eyebrows waxed, though they offer legs and bikini wax as well. There's usually no wait, you are assigned to a room and 15 minutes later your eyebrows are waxed, shaped, and trimmed to perfection. You can't ask for much more for only $6. read more

I previously had gel nails for awhile and decided I wanted to give my nails a break and get a manicure. I was seated at station number 2, forgot the name of my nail technician. She was really nice as always when I've previously been serviced by her. Service seemed ok. She hurt me a little bit when she was trimming my cuticle. She cut too much and I started bleeding a tad bit. Wasn't a big deal, I let that go. What I'm complaining about is what my nails looked like afterwards. It was so rigid she had not buffed my nails smoothly. You clearly see the lines where it was buffed out too deep. It looked like I had done my nails myself. When I returned 2 days later to get it fixed, I was asked by Vee what I needed. When I explained myself I was told that my nails just look like that because I got my acrylics removed. I NEVER HAD ACRYLICS PRIOR. I had gel, and never before when I'd have the gel polish removed would it look like that if I got a manicure instead. Vee asked the nail tech who serviced me what happened and she told her that it was because I would move my hands away from her to file and said that I told her I didn't want her to file my nail. WOW. Why the f would I say that? I'm pretty easy going as a customer. I rarely complain unless I'm really unsatisfied with my results. Now that's annoying. Nail tech #2 probably did not want to get in trouble or something cos why would I say such a thing? All I requested was to have my nails cut short. So nail tech #2 pretty much LIED! And you could totally tell that Vee was on her side. I sensed a little attitude. Vee finally said that she'd take a look at it. (But she looked annoyed that she would have to fix it) I don't understand customer service these days. If you're going to be irritated about pleasing the customer and providing great service why be in the service industry?! I could tell nail tech #2 was upset cos when she came over to tell Vee which nail polish I chose, i said hi to her and she ignored me. Lol I felt bad for complaining but shit..I'm not gonna go day by day with ugly nails. And when I apologized to Vee saying I didn't mean to purposely offend anyone, she still repeated the lie, "you told her you didn't want your nails filed". Nail Tech #2 also said that I kept moving my hands around because I didn't want them filed. I NEVER SAID THAT! I thought the customers are majority always right? Guess not. I came early in the morning at 9:30 and there was no wait. We were both done before 10:30. Service was ok. They were efficient and fast though they talked a lot amongst themselves. It was little annoying but you really get what you pay for. Cheaper prices but then you just have to bear through the voices. Also, I think they don't disinfect the instruments they use to clean your nails with. The lady just took it out of some box and put it back after cleaning my nails.
