Breakfast is okay, with a selection of eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, breads and a coffee machine. Small variety of fruit and yogurt as well. The rooms are absolutely tiny. We booked a family room and not sure what happened...the pull out couch barely fit our two young children and left zero space in the room. The bathroom was also small and had limited space even for towels, let alone counter space. I booked through Priceline, which I will never do again because our reservation was completely messed up. They didn't have the right number of people or the included breakfast reflected in the hotels reservation system. The front desk staff couldn't have been kinder though and sorted it all out rather quickly. If you're just a solo travel or a couple the rooms would be sufficient and it would probably make for a great home base during your time in Galway.

It is located at a perfect location for walkability - right across the street from the Spanish Arch! We could see it from our window! This, of course, meant we were right at the foot of the Latin Quarter which is filled with noisy tourists and pubs. Our room was nicely fitted with two windows which cut out the noise sufficiently. Check in was a breeze! And our room was big and comfortable. With the change to Leonardo came refurbished rooms so it all felt pretty new. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. Two of the four evenings we were here, they offered late afternoon chocolate chip cookies and prosecco! A nice touch! We only had their breakfast one of the mornings. If you purchase it in advance, the price is reduced by a couple euros. They had standard Irish breakfast buffet offerings and the staff were friendly. I wasn't overly wowed by the breakfast and, since there are so many restaurants and coffee places nearby, I wouldn't recommend it here.

Of all the hotels I stayed in Ireland, this was my least favorite. The room, upon first look, was…read morenice and spacious. I liked the wardrobe storage, the desk area, and the additional area for storing luggage. However, there were a few things which made me feel like details were being overlooked and the accommodations were outdated. The real reason I can't justify more than three stars is that housekeeping came into my room when I specifically requested they didn't. I was woken up by knocking on the door and then before I could say anything, they opened the door. I thought this was incredibly strange since I had the do not disturb sign out. Not only that, but you are supposed to request housekeeping with a different sign so why they were coming in at all is confusing to me. I still had the do not disturb sign out the door when I left and upon returning, I noticed some cups had been replaced so they definitely came into the room while I was gone. That didn't make me feel very comfortable. The first towel I went to use had a giant hairball stuck to it. Definitely not mine since I hadn't even used the towels yet. After that, I felt like everything must be dirty. The bathroom also seemed really retro to me and not in a quaint way. The toilet was difficult to flush and the shower pressure wasn't great. Not to mention, the half glass in the shower drove me crazy and no matter how careful I was, the floor would get wet. The rest of the hotel seemed to be falling apart a bit. During my three night stay, the lights of one of the elevators were out the entire time making for some awkward rides with fellow guests. The handle on the front door of the hotel ended up breaking towards the end of the stay as well. Unfortunately, someone got sick on the stairwell and it took the staff until the next morning to adequately clean it up. The location, while fairly central, was a little off the beaten path compared to other lodging options like the Leonardo. I would've much preferred to stay there and will be avoiding Harbour Hotel during future visits to Galway.

The room had washcloths, AC, and a fridge with water which is not always common in Ireland. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of town. The bar area was nice although when I tried to add a tip to my credit card the bartender told me it was pointless that they don't get it. The beds were comfy. Overall nice hotel.

The Latin Quarter is about a 10-minute walk away, and buses stop right outside the hotel if you're heading farther afield. From the moment we arrived, the experience was excellent. The lobby is bright, colorful, and inviting, and the front desk staff gave us one of the warmest welcomes we received anywhere in Ireland. Our room was surprisingly spacious by European standards. Even with a queen bed and a single bed, we had plenty of room to spread out. The bathroom was modern, and I especially appreciated the heated mirror that never fogged up after a shower. Best of all, the room had air conditioning, something we quickly learned isn't guaranteed in Ireland. The Hyde's restaurant serves meals throughout the day and was where I discovered my first bowl of traditional porridge. Topped with toasted walnuts, banana, cinnamon, and maple syrup, it was far better than I ever expected and became one of my favorite breakfasts of the trip. If you're driving, the hotel has a large parking garage directly behind the building. It's easy to access, and the hotel offers discounted parking. Just remember your space number because the garage is much larger than it first appears. Between the comfortable rooms, friendly staff, excellent location, and reasonable rates, I'd happily stay at The Hyde again on my next visit to Galway.

It was unusually warm the first week of September, and our room did not have A/C. Compounding that, the windows barely opened, and have no screens. So we had several insects join us in the evening. They were able to give us an oscillating fan, which did help a little. When we went to shower the 1st morning, the water temp was stuck on scalding hot, and you literally could not take a shower. The second day, they did switch us to a different room, where the water temp worked fine. But still no A/C. As for the restaurant, we ate in the main restaurant the first night, when we had a tour dinner, off a set menu. There were 40+ of us, so understandably I'm sure the food was prepared ahead of time. But it wasn't very good, and service was very slow. So much so that about a 1/3 of our group left after the entree, and didn't hang around for dessert. Now the second night, because we had a long day on Aran Islands (and because there is nothing around the hotel), we decided to eat dinner in the bar area. That dinner, was actually very good. My wife had the goats cheese salad and soup, and I had the mushroom gnocchi. We both liked our meals very much that night. It's a nice hotel, and I'm sure on another visit things would go better. But this wasn't that visit. My recommendation: if it's warm when you get there, ask for a fan as soon as you check in.

It turns out that it was under the name of the colleague who booked the room for me, and that they did not note my details although they were shared with the hotel. The room was a nice size with a queen sized bed and a twin or full sized bed. I could not figure out how to adjust the temperature on the radiator which meant I had a cold first night. The next morning, I discovered that the window had been left open. The second night was more comfortable since the window was closed. There was no comforter or blanket in the room. The breakfast was nice and the servers attentive. There was enough variety of choices of food without it being overwhelming. It is outside of central Galway which is inconvenient if you want to walk around and see the city.

A downside was the low sound insulation, so we were lucky to stay in one of the top-floor rooms that turned out to be quieter. Breakfast is excellent, with plenty of traditional-style bacon, sausages, baked beans, eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, and black pudding. There are also cereals, small croissants, other baked goods, and quite a variety of more items that I won't list. I suggest getting coffee quickly whenever the line shortens because there is only one machine and the line gets long. We recommend and would stay here again.
