We were able to explore the church and the bars. There are multiple bars including a lounge with a live piano player. The staff is so kind and welcoming. From checking in, providing us with a tour of the facility to bringing our luggage to our room before we even got there. Once we got to our room, there was complimentary chocolates, coffee, tea, water, and Irish biscuits. Typical of many hotels but this was next level. The coffee was nepresso with Irish shortbread cookies. We have our option of sparking or still water. The box of Glenlo Abbey chocolates was such a nice touch too. We booked the bed and breakfast option through Hilton. Unfortunately, we had an early flight and had to skip breakfast. At checkout, the front desk brewed fresh coffee and served us on a beautiful tray with milk and sugar. Not only did they make us coffee, they helped us with our bags all the way to our car. Truly a magical experience.

Driving through the gates and down the path, to the right a gorgeous green golf course teases you to play, while on the left..a castle awaits. I was like, pinch me, is this for real?! The grounds and hotel were absolutely GORGEOUS. The service was amazing -all the employees were helpful and friendly. Trying to get our luggage to our room was a bit of a struggle as there were stairs to the lobby and not an easily accessible elevator. But, there were bellhops to assist. Later upon departure, we found a way to get our luggage to our car. Stunning Victorian décor throughout the hotel. Many beautifully decorated lounges. Taking a stroll- the hotel had a live nightly piano bar, movie night, Palmer's restaurant, a reservation only train car restaurant, and a buffet and made to order breakfast room. We were very pleased with our room. Noted mixture of vintage and modern details in our room. Appreciated the complimentary daily water bottles, slippers, and daily cleaning service. A nice touch was the hand written card with chocolate dipped strawberries and chocolates, all addressed to us. Love love.... Every morning, the buffet breakfast and made to order were amazing! Estelle our server was fabulous and kind. She listened and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our food. A shout out to Raed, the manager. On our last day, we hoped to have a table by the window for views, since it was never available the other days... we mentioned this to Raed, and he went above and beyond to make it happen. He seated us at table in front of a window with views of the golf course, in a separate room entirely by ourselves!!!! Thank you : ) What a beautiful way to end our stay. The concierge- Cyril and Ruadhan were outstanding! Helpful, friendly, easy to talk to without any pressure. They both helped make suggestions of places to check out and gave us maps. Took a pic with Ruadhan : ) Glenlo had complimentary bikes to rent which was nice. But, we talk a nice walk around the property - approximately under 2 miles. You'll come across a pond with picnic benches. We enjoyed our stay here and it's definitely close to downtown Galway by car. I would definitely come back!

The price tag for the hotel rooms, as other have mentioned, is definitely due to the location. It can't be beat. Breakfast is okay, with a selection of eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, breads and a coffee machine. Small variety of fruit and yogurt as well. The rooms are absolutely tiny. We booked a family room and not sure what happened...the pull out couch barely fit our two young children and left zero space in the room. The bathroom was also small and had limited space even for towels, let alone counter space. I booked through Priceline, which I will never do again because our reservation was completely messed up. They didn't have the right number of people or the included breakfast reflected in the hotels reservation system. The front desk staff couldn't have been kinder though and sorted it all out rather quickly. If you're just a solo travel or a couple the rooms would be sufficient and it would probably make for a great home base during your time in Galway.

It is poorly managed, dirty and uncomfortable. In our room the soap dispenser was empty for more than two days. They never replenished the coffee. Milk or bottled water. Staff was pleasant but obviously understaffed and over worked. Never again is what my spouse said and I echo that!!

Too small and too hot to be comfortable…read more Our room is too hot sleep in. We complained about how hot the room was but front desk said they only have 2 or 3 rooms with A/C (is that true??). They said to use a supplies fan, so we have the window open with a noisy fan, but it is still very hot and the fan is super noisy. Our room is also incredibly small. We barely fit in here with our luggage. It's really small!! We asked if we could upgrade to a larger room and they said "no"... our room has a "standard layout" (again I am questioning if I am being told the truth). Also, they gave us an accessible room with a bathroom that has no enclosed shower/tub and then claimed that was a standard room for the hotel (once again feeling like I'm being swindled). There is also no sink space or shelf to place toiletries of any kind. We feel very cheated for a room that was much more expensive than the nice hotels we stayed at in Dublin and Killarney. Positives: Location is great and enjoy the attached pub.

Located in the Latin Quarter, the heart of Galway. Such a convenient and lively location!…read more A smaller hotel with an elevator if you are bringing a lot of luggage like us. We stayed here for a couple nights during the week. We were worried about the potential noise however the live music stopped at around 11pm so we had no complaints there. Perhaps the noise is longer on weekends but we didn't see it as an issue during our weekday stay. The room was clean, and had complementary water bottles. The TV was also great and allowed us to sign in to our Netflix and YouTube for streaming on the big screen. The room was on the smaller side but enough space to at least open up our big luggage and carry on. We got discounted parking as well from the hotel, which helped as parking in the city was expensive. Did not get the chance to visit the bar in the hotel in the evenings but we heard really good live music!

I liked the wardrobe storage, the desk area, and the additional area for storing luggage. However, there were a few things which made me feel like details were being overlooked and the accommodations were outdated. The real reason I can't justify more than three stars is that housekeeping came into my room when I specifically requested they didn't. I was woken up by knocking on the door and then before I could say anything, they opened the door. I thought this was incredibly strange since I had the do not disturb sign out. Not only that, but you are supposed to request housekeeping with a different sign so why they were coming in at all is confusing to me. I still had the do not disturb sign out the door when I left and upon returning, I noticed some cups had been replaced so they definitely came into the room while I was gone. That didn't make me feel very comfortable. The first towel I went to use had a giant hairball stuck to it. Definitely not mine since I hadn't even used the towels yet. After that, I felt like everything must be dirty. The bathroom also seemed really retro to me and not in a quaint way. The toilet was difficult to flush and the shower pressure wasn't great. Not to mention, the half glass in the shower drove me crazy and no matter how careful I was, the floor would get wet. The rest of the hotel seemed to be falling apart a bit. During my three night stay, the lights of one of the elevators were out the entire time making for some awkward rides with fellow guests. The handle on the front door of the hotel ended up breaking towards the end of the stay as well. Unfortunately, someone got sick on the stairwell and it took the staff until the next morning to adequately clean it up. The location, while fairly central, was a little off the beaten path compared to other lodging options like the Leonardo. I would've much preferred to stay there and will be avoiding Harbour Hotel during future visits to Galway.

The room had washcloths, AC, and a fridge with water which is not always common in Ireland. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of town. The only issue is getting out of there (even for the taxis) requires an awkward drive through a tight parking lot. The entire staff was professional and friendly. I think the decor is cool, lots of velvet and fun colors. Our room was clean and super spacious. Robes and slippers provided. The bed was very comfortable and allowed for a great night of sleep. There's even a mini-fridge that you can actually use and not get charged for. On check in there was a little bag of snacks and a plate of desserts with a lovely welcome note. Turn down service brought some tasty chocolates. Really nice touches. One of the highlights of the stay was the breakfast. These were undeniably our best breakfasts of our week in Ireland.

I know the decor is deliberate but it feels old and outdated. We had 2 remotes in the room, one worked for the tv in living room and who knows what the other remote was for. The tv in the bathroom didn't have a remote. The gas fireplace was turned off by orders of the county. I loved the water views and the room amenities. Cool place.
