The G has a decent location. We did end up taking taxis into town in the evening. There is free self parking. The only issue is getting out of there (even for the taxis) requires an awkward drive through a tight parking lot. The entire staff was professional and friendly. I think the decor is cool, lots of velvet and fun colors. Our room was clean and super spacious. Robes and slippers provided. The bed was very comfortable and allowed for a great night of sleep. There's even a mini-fridge that you can actually use and not get charged for. On check in there was a little bag of snacks and a plate of desserts with a lovely welcome note. Turn down service brought some tasty chocolates. Really nice touches. One of the highlights of the stay was the breakfast. These were undeniably our best breakfasts of our week in Ireland. read more

Fun place. Rat pack vibe and tons of Frank Sinatra songs play throughout. Walking distance to downtown if you're up for an uphill /2 mile walk. They offer valet but there is free self park with elevators that go to the car park. There is a movie theater behind the hotel and nice restaurants in walking distance. I know the decor is deliberate but it feels old and outdated. We had 2 remotes in the room, one worked for the tv in living room and who knows what the other remote was for. The tv in the bathroom didn't have a remote. The gas fireplace was turned off by orders of the county. I loved the water views and the room amenities. Cool place. read more

So the place is in a great location but I had some take aways. The spa was already packed given the timing that we booked. I believe it was a major holiday. Then the bathroom appeared to be clean until we noticed that there was something scattered on the ceiling and under the sink. No Bueno. Then it was a bit random that someone came into the room unannounced and to this day I dont know what that was about. Other than that, everything was beautiful in the lobby and I enjoyed my food from their restaurant. The set up of the room itself was very elegant? Just wish it was a bit more clean. The hotel is pretty and my room, or the rooms we booked, were large. The bed is comfortable and the large shower and bath tubs are a plus. However, the rooms did not feel super clean and the staff did not make the experience feel truly 5 star. Whole nice enough, we didn't immediately feel welcomed and at home like we have at other hotels. We didn't get the sense that they would do whatever it took to fix things if there were an issue or go above and beyond. My dad was looking forward to using the gym but I believe their website isn't updated to reflect that it's being renovated and was not available for use during our stay. There was also some confusion regarding the names on the reservation as my mom uses her maiden name. It all worked out fine but my parents have been traveling together for decades and claim they never had that issue before. It was just a handful of little things that didn't ruin the stay but made it less ideal than it could have been, not sure if it's an issue with training or communication or organization, but there's definitely room for improvement. Also, the location is a little over a mile from the main part of Galway so keep that in mind, as we ended up taking a taxi or Uber into town every night. We booked this for walking distance to downtown Galway. It's over a mile uphill. The hotel is a freaky time travel back to the 60s. If you've been to the Standard in NYC it was trying to achieve a similar vibe. The room was beaten down and tired. The bedframe was dirty (see pics) though the bed was comfortable. The shower was hilarious as we felt we were being pelted by water balloons as there was no way to change the water type pouring from the spicket. Breakfast was good and the manager there very attentive. Hallways scary dark and the front desk vibe was fake nice but super aggressive. Let me tell you how many things we can't do for you while smiling. The whole experienced soured our time here. Go to Glenlo. It's not mentioned in Frommers for some reason but it's a 5 star. AC in room wasn't working and it was stifling - 3 service requests didn't help. Ordered a shot of overpriced whisky for a nightcap and bartender measured out 3/4 of a shot. At a nice bar I'd expect a shot and a splash. Also no USB ports for charging phone- in 2024 - and they bill themselves as luxury. WOW. They really pull out all the stops here. We were greeted at the front door and the valet helped us unload our luggage, and then valet parked our car. Then, the head concierge gave us a tour of the hotel common areas, and led us to our room and showed us how everything worked in the room. About 10 minutes later, our luggage was brought up to our room. I was blown away by their hospitality and the attention they paid to us. While walking through the common areas, and hallways, the decor seems quite gaudy, almost like something Liberace would have designed. Yet, it's so different, that it's kind of entertaining to explore and take it all in. It's really unique. Luckily, the room was decorated nothing like the common areas, it was decorated in neutral tones - I don't think I could have slept in a room decorated like the common areas. The room was a junior suite and was quite spacious. The bed was very comfortable, the view was awesome (overlooking the Lough Atalia), the room and bathroom were clean. The shower was huge and has two separate shower heads with separate water controls for each. The bathtub is also huge, and the bathroom included a bidet. I've never experienced this, so I had to Google it to find instructions on how to use it. After reading the instructions, I decided it wasn't for me - so in case you are wondering, no, I didn't use it. ;-) Did you know you can fill the bidet up with water and wash your feet in it? I had no idea. But I digress - back to the review. Amenities included are: Wall mounted flat screen TV in the main room Wall mounted flat screen TV in the bathroom placed right in front of the bathtub In-room safe Slippers for each guest Robes Free traditional Irish breakfast each morning FREE valet parking (the built in gas fireplaces do not work by the way) One of the earlier reviews stated that the couch and carpet in their room was worn and needed replacing. We stayed here this week and absolutely loved our time there. The g hotel is situated well with beautiful water views. You are close to restaurants and shopping. And the restaurant there and the cocktails were excellent. I very much enjoyed a lovely cocktail. The bed was super comfortable, the room was quiet and the complimentary breakfast was delicious. But what puts this hotel above the rest, is the staff. Without exception every person we encountered was lovely and happy to make our stay positive. People clearly were from all over the place. We enjoyed chatting with cristobal when he took us to a bus trip. I'm not sure who is training the staff but great job!!!! read more

Overall it's decent, but it's just not a 5 star hotel in any way. Positives: A) The rooms are very comfy with large deep beds. B) The food was really very good, we ate in the bar and the main restaurant and really enjoyed both. Negatives: A) Even as a hotel guest you still must book and pay an additional fee to use the spa- including the thermal pool and sauna. This was not explained to us upon booking and when we found out during check in, the whole spa was completely booked up for our two night stay. It's just absolutely ridiculous and very cheeky for the amount you are paying. B) The interior is dated- must have been nice in 2005, but is now really cringeworthy. The decor is also starting to look worn down, particularly in the rooms (see photos) C) The shower in our room was not working at all on the evening of our stay, when we rang down about it we weren't really given much of an apology or explanation. D) The world's most pathetic mini bar- two mini bottles of Jameson, two tonic waters (who doesn't love Whiskey and tonics!) and a weird chocolate wafer. E) Arrived in our taxi only to have to lug our bags up the front steps ourselves, no help from a concierge or doorman despite a number of staff being behind the desk. read more

I'm going to make some comparisons that will either mean nothing to you or paint the perfect picture. The decor is "glam/sexy"... much like the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas but not as impressive. The hotel was probably amazing at some point in the past but has gone a bit downhill... very similar to the Warwick in Chicago. If you just breeze by the lobby area you get the feeling that this is really fancy/nice hotel....that's not really true. The more you look around the more you see that the decor and furniture are a bit old and worn. In the room the couch is worn out and has some questionable stains...same with the carpet. The bathroom is pretty clean though What i found amusing and slightly annoying is that my "King sized bed" is actually a King size bed frame with TWO FULL sized mattresses placed next to each other. I was confused when i felt this weird gap in the middle of the bed and then realized that underneath the sheets were two smaller mattresses...L O L ? From their website you expect the Ritz but in reality you are getting something like a HGI or Marriott Courtyard. read more

The hotel is good. However service is appalling. We waited 10 minutes to be seated at breakfast whilst staff walked past us and ignored us. Service once we were seated was very slow. They made thing of telling us about their three seating areas but one was roped off so couldn't be used by guests as they save it for afternoon tea. The other two had nobody operating the bar. We waited circa 10-15 minutes for our order to be taken and then another 10 minutes to get our drinks, 25 minutes for a pint and a glass of wine!! There was only one bar working and only one member of staff preparing drinks for all the guests in a 5 star hotel on a Friday night at around 6pm. It feels like the staff are not being managed properly or that the hotel are being cheap and not employing enough staff. Far from a 5 star experience. read more

There's nothing better at this time of year than getting away from the Winter monotony with a little mini break. I get a serious case of the Winter blues.. the lack of daylight and cold weather does me absolutely no favours, so last week I happily toddled off to Galway for the weekend. I had bought a deal from LuxuryBreaks.ie a good while back and for €198 it offered a night's stay in a deluxe room with breakfast and a 2 course dinner for 2. I've stayed in The G before so knew what to expect - luxury! It may have been miserable outside for most of our stay, but once you step through the doors the hotel is fabulous. With 3 different lounges to choose from you're spoilt for choice. My favourite has to be the relaxed tones in the first lounge. With half an hour to wait before our room was ready, we whiled the time away with a few cocktails. The corridors and rooms are equally as plush. Our room had a fabulous bathroom with freestanding bath and a double shower, a sitting area, Nespresso machine and those all important cupcakes they give - delicious! Feeling like taking it easy, we treated ourselves to an hour in the Thermal Suite and Relaxation Room which was fabulous. We didn't get any spa treatments, but made the most of the sauna, steam room and vitality pool. Our meal was quite faultless, a lot of choice on the menu, fantastic food and helpful, friendly staff. We had Caprese Salad of Marinated Tomato, Toonsbridge Mozarella, Basil Oil & Rocket, Vegetable Spring Rolls with Mango Lime and Chilli Dip, Style Chicken Kiev - Fillet of Marinated Chicken, Garlic Butter, Sugar Snaps, Cremed Potato & Red Wine Jus & Wild Mushroom Risotto with Feta Cheese My ONLY complaint was the cappuccino I got... personally I think €4.80 is just that bit overpriced for a coffee! Breakfast was served in the restaurant too and ran through till 11am which is great - a lie in is always a bonus :-) I pretty much felt like all I did over the weekend was eat! But it was hard not to take full advantage of the amazing breakfast spread ... plenty of cereals, dried fruit, yogurt, fresh fruit, cold meats and cheese, the usual sausages bacon and eggs and of course the baked treats in croissants, pain au chocolat and Danish pastries. We had such a nice and relaxed stay at The G... while it's close enough to the city to stroll in, it also feels a world away once you step through the doors. They have the nicest staff! We are tourists in Galway. We chose this hotel because we wanted amenities and even though we could have gotten a lower priced hotel, we wanted the insurance of knowing we would have clean, modern, comfortable, convenient space. It's newer construction and in the newer part of town, so it's not quaint at all. If you want quaint, stay in the town center. We noticed a lot of more traditional Irish hotels when we were exploring the town of Galway. The location is about a mile from the town, but we notice there is a big business park behind us, so probably a good hotel for business travelers. Yet, we are always mystified by the lack of available power outlets and in this case, of the two in our deluxe room, only one worked. There were light bulbs out, ceiling lights missing and it's already a dark hotel room at night. During the day, the room has nice big windows and the bed was super comfortable. We requested a top sheet and blanket for our 2nd night which they easily switched out from the big comforter sans sheet. There's a fridge and the bar stayed open kind of late...no room service or any of that. I changed my review after going to Dublin and now Paris. I recommend this hotel. But don't eat the cupcake. read more

Okay so I finally got the chance to visit this hotel for an overnight stay & afternoon tea. A hastly arranged Plan B girlie trip away after we had to cancel our trip to Paris in light of recent events... Anyway back to the G... so the decor is amazing, the afternoon tea was well tasty. Would highly recommend it, however would have loved a top up to our bubbly... This hotel is supposed to be a high end boutique hotel and the prices for staying here, drinks and spa treatments certainly reflect that. However I feel it is overpriced and the quirky decor is not enough to justify the prices. I have been to other 5 star hotels in Ireland and the G does not live up to the same standard. For example you can buy a movie deal in conjunction with the cinema next door! Also the view into the retail park is not what you expect for a so called high end hotel. I was with a group of 5 friends and we treated ourselves to some cockatils before hitting Galway for the night. The bar service was akin to Faulty Towers... just awful. The barman spilled our cocktails all over the table and my boots. He replaced the cocktails but neglected to bring a cloth to clear the mess!! The second round of drinks we ordered took 20 mins to appear, only after my friend went off to enquire where they were! Ok so to end on a little positive note the buffet breakfast was amazing, fresh mini pastries, cold meats, cheese, fruits as well as a decent hot food selection. And the service was so much better than our bar experience! I would not be rushing back to stay at current prices, in my opinion the overall experience did not live up to the hype or expectations. read more

5 stars! I absolutely LOVE this hotel. As soon as my fiance and I entered the lobby, we were immediately greeted kindly while our concierge brought our bags to our room. They asked where we were traveling from, and seemed genuine in wanting to know about us which was really appealing. Once we were settled into our wonderful, clean, cozy room, we went downstairs to check everything out. Just.. WOW. The design detail here is impeccable and so much fun! I loved how every room was different, with unique taste. Plus, all of the seating was extremely comfortable! Whenever we sat down for even just a moment, we were greeted within a few minutes and asked if we needed anything.. so attentive! Loved it! We dined in the back dining room Gigi's, for the first night and the food was divine. For starters we had the Bruschetta of Blue Bell Falls goat cheese. Then for our entree, I chose the Pan-Roasted Butterfly of Irish Chicken with a Cream Cheese & Ham Fritter, underneath Carrot Purée with a side of Duck Fat Potatoes. I was in heaven! The chicken was moist and the ham and cream cheese fritter was perfectly proportionate to the meal. I was very happy. My fiance had the Char Grilled Rib Eye au Poivre of Irish Beef with an Oyster Beignet, Water Cress,Creamed Potatoes, and a RedWine Jus. He said it was filling and tasted perfect. We chose not to have dessert, mainly because were thoroughly stuffed from our lovely meal! We stayed at the G Hotel for three days, we loved our continental breakfast or choice of hot meal.. that was wonderful! My fiance had the Eggs Benedict EVERY MORNING. Haha, he loved it! Aside from the lovely food, I really have to say that the service here was amazing. We would walk into our room from a long day of exploring with our beds turned down and music softly playing in the bedroom. Even the soaps and shampoo smelled and worked great! The showers were fabulous, and the water pressure worked wonders after a long day! The beds were comfortable and clean, and the sheets were nice and soft. Our concierge named Adrian was beyond helpful. He gave us maps of the area, and even highlighted places for us to stop along our treks. He printed out tons of information on horse back riding in the area, and even called to reserve a space for us to go riding! ALSO! ( I know this is a novel, but I really think its helpful to note as much as possible for any one traveling here..) On the second day of our stay here, my (now) fiance proposed to me on the Cliffs of Moher. When we got back to the hotel later that night, we asked the front desk if there was any place in the area to just go out for a celebratory drink -- she motioned us towards the Inn across the street, so we went over there for a quick beer. Once we came back to our room, we had two flutes of champagne and a great little dish of chocolates and strawberries! So sweet and so thoughtful... Spa on site looked great although we didn't use it. I knocked it down two stars because of stains all over the carpet in our room. Just tons of them, made me think the rest of the hotel wasn't clean either. Parking was free but strange, it was really unclear what to do with bags and such. They should have had a bell desk down there. Lastly, the location isn't great. There were options closer that would make it easier to partake in the evening festivities. read more

The service lets this place down , I love going there to chill over a drink before or after a movie ( it's beside cinema). I've also been for afternoon tea twice and same thing waiters randomly coming over wondering if you have been served then promptly disappearing! Once you get the food it is good and you are not rushed our the door. The restaurant however is quite different the service is excellent and the food is very much worth a visit. There are 4 different menu types to suit every taste and price which was surprising for a five star hotel but a welcome surprise! Was my birthday they added an extra dessert . read more

Gave me a room @ 2:24 pm that is not ready. I travel for work and this is the first time in my life that the room is not ready so late in the day. I just adored my recent weekend stay here so I apologise in advance for the gushing. In fact, there are so many things that I have to rave about that it would be quite the novel so I'm just going to give you the (detailed) highlights: The customer service was superb. When booking online, I mentioned it was my husband's birthday that weekend and not only did the incredibly friendly front-of-house staff wish him happy birthday when we were checking in, but they had put delicious signature cupcakes and chocolate truffles, along with a birthday card, in our room. Our room was the nicest, plushest room I have ever stayed in. Granted, we forked out for a Deluxe King but the bed (medium-firm) was the most comfortable I've ever slept in and there was a couch so deep it could fit two people on it lying side by side. The bathroom was exquisite, with its two sinks, two shower heads in the large walk-in shower, a big stand-alone bath tub and a heated mirror. The power settings in the shower were a bit like the kind you'd find in a spa. Ah, the spa. As part of our package, we got one hour use of the Thermal Suites, which we had to book in advance. I thought this meant just a steam room and jacuzzi. No. The spacious vitality pool has, among other things, two curving shower head contraptions, under which you can stand and be pummelled by a jet of water so strong it would put my sports therapist out of business. Even the steam room is a special treat with its heated seating. The food was just delicious. Our deal included breakfast and also one three-course dinner in the restaurant and I just could not have been more pleased with either. I liked how, even though breakfast ended at 11am, they were still bringing out fresh items for the buffet at 10.50 so that latecomers weren't getting just the dregs. Their hot food menu was full of great choices. I went for the Scotch Pancakes on both mornings and my husband said the Eggs Benedict was among the best he had. I could - and did - say the same for the Rib-Eye steak I had for dinner. And you should definitely try one of their cocktails. They seem a bit pricey, especially when you consider that you did in fact leave Dublin city, but they are worth a try, or two. Locals come in here by the droves especially for them, which is what gives this hotel its great atmosphere. This location is perfect. It's a twenty minute stroll into Eyre Square, yet we were out of the way of the worst traffic for when we were coming to and from Dublin. I love the decor. Pink-and-gold, ice-white-and-blinging-silver, deep purples and golds. Bauble chandelier. It just works. For me, at least. If I'm nitpicking, I would say that the staff in the restaurant were a little bit forgetful, though they were so nice about it and so quick when we reminded them of anything that it feels almost mean to mention this. Also, the decor in the hallways upstairs is about ready to be updated. Absolutely none of this took away from the wonderful overall experience. I've bought my friend a voucher for this hotel for Christmas. I just hope she might consider inviting me along with her when it comes time to use it! read more

When one splashes on 5 star luxury, especially in these times, one expects the absolute best in standards. Sadly, this was not received at the "g Hotel" in Galway. Great customer service is measured not by the immediate service, but by the recovery when things go wrong. In the case of the "g" (lower case because they are so very special!), the recovery was amateurish. A poor show by a hotel that holds itself in the same league as the Four Seasons or the Merrion. Small g, hold your head in shame, you are but an imposter dressed in high class clothes - you should NOT be at the ball.... Small g, how can I count the ways in which you should be stripped of your stars? ... how about five? ... because this is the number of falls at the alter of luxury that you have taken.... We arrived and were warmly welcomed by the reception staff who couldn't be nicer, brought to our room and left to relax. Here's a small tip (small) g - a bottle of mineral water and some clean glasses in a city that until recently had a long term undrinkable water scare would be a good thing - but thats simply an observation, not a fault... Fall #1 - after a long sticky drive, it was decided the Royal We should experience a bath - nice, if the bathroom floor had been clean - it wasn't, it was shabby and strewn with grit and dirt from someone's shoes. Fall #2 - onward to dine - amazing food, really, top top marks to the chef - hopefully he will find a better establishment in which to ply his trade in the future. Alas the service started with a wee bang - my companions fork had old food stuck inside one of the prongs and it was very obvious. Delicately, we pointed it out - apologies ensued and a replacement made. A mistake is allowable, once. Granted, it should *not* have happened for the price we were paying, no really, I'm not being picky - you should see the prices ... it should not have happened, but it did, and an apology was given, and graciously accepted with no fuss. But ... guess what... Fall #3 - would you believe that I went to pick up my fork and noticed the same faux-pas, *but worse* ! ... mine had a nice heavy chunk of remainder of egg glued to the inside of the prongs. This again was pointed out and an apology was again received, not only by the server but also by one would assume the head waiter/manageress. Ok, lets take a little break here - what would the right thing to do at this stage be you think? ... how about (1) remove *all* cutlery and start afresh (2) perhaps offer sir and madam a complementary drink? (3) notify the reception desk so that the duty manager would learn of this double faux-pas and offer to make up in some way? ... you decide ... I know what the Four Seasons and other even four and three star houses *have* done in the past for lessor things... but I digress... Guess what, there were a few other minor things but lest you think I am being picky, lets leave them aside and move on.... Fall #4 - We sent a nice email to "little g" detailing the issue we had and after a number of days received no response. We then received an email asking us to fill in a questionnaire giving our opinion on the "g experience" ... so we did, giving a negative review and asking to refer to our email. Guess what happened? ... NOTHING ! ... really little g, very very poor show thus far - what can you do to redeem yourselves? Fall #5 - Quite irate that after charging a serious premium and putting themselves up as a luxury hotel we received not even the courtesy of an email contact, we decided to phone. Unfortunately it seemed there was no-one there of authority to take the call nor would there be anyone for the next few days (the cats away small g - see what happens?!), however, we would be contacted with the utmost haste! Okay ... small g - at this stage you should have called out BIG-G ... you should have had your general manager contact us. It is blindingly obvious that when someone takes this level of effort to complain and contact you, that you pull out the stops - obviousness however does not seem to have made it to this particular team of top class five star hospitality professionals - perhaps they were in Dublin that day - trying to figure out how to get the multiple stars on the cheap. Your final failing small g was to send us an email from a less than senior manager who, in writing, managed to sound quite condescending and frankly full of the platitudes one would expect from a wanna-be hostelry of quality at the height of the worst excesses of the last few years. So ... incredibly grateful to my wonderful and amazing and graceful companion that I am, I feel that small-g should be publically flogged for daring to hold themselves up beside real 5 star establishments that truly know how to treat their customers and give genuine value for the incredibly large fees they charge. Shame on you small-g, shame. I advise a pass. read more

Can't recommend it enough if traveling with young kids. Lovely rooms. Friendly staff. Great value. Welcoming and patient with the kids. Greats kids bowls and helpful making and warming milk etc. lovely toddler beds and sheets for the cribs. Cleared out a fridge so we could store milk. Breakfast included. Parking is free. The food was lovely so far and they'd have to fall a long way from here to change my view. I've stayed in a lot of nice hotels and few have been more accommodating or us with kids. I would whole heartedly recommend it. Elite is the kids can't use the pool. That's all! read more

I love this quirky hotel. Having stayed here a couple of times in the past few years, I wouldn't dream of staying anyplace else in Galway when we come to visit friends in the city. Our recent visit was no exception. The Hotel is located at the top of Lough Atalia about a mile from the city centre (a brisk 20 minute walk) on the dock road in from Dublin so it's easy to find if coming by car. The rooms are sumptuously and elegantly appointed, the public areas are spectacular. It is clearly a very popular cocktail spot for Galwegians (female variety), many of whom can be seen in groups sipping their cosmos or mojitos of an evening before dinner in the excellent restaurant. On this occasion we dined in town but the breakfasts here are outstanding with a full range of hot and cold buffet or waiter service available. Can't wait for the next time. read more

It's a shame that most of these reviews are actually about the restaurant because my boyfriend and I had a great stay at the g Hotel; in fact, it was our favorite hotel by far of any that we had been to in Ireland, and even better than the ones we went to in Amsterdam the month before! Ever since studying in Galway back in 2009, when I once walked through the lobby of the g, I was dying to stay there. I finally did this past May. The reception staff is so warm and welcoming; they jumped to bring our bags up to our room and have everything sorted before we got there. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. I loved the very dark hallways with the giant circular chairs lighted up along the way. A lot of hotels do dark hallways, but this one actually worked so much better than any others I've seen. And let's not forget the CUPCAKES that were there to greet up as we went in the room. Super sweet and delicious. They even gave us two more the next time--yum. Our stay was absolutely enjoyable. I loved that they had umbrellas for loan in the lobby because, hello, it's Ireland--of course it's going to rain (and it did). All this is to say nothing of the lobby and adjoining rooms. They are just as magical in person as on the website. I love the pink swirly candy-like room. The aquarium in the main lobby is so cool with some of the coolest fish I've ever seen (and I'm really not a fish person.) It's the kind of place where you can tell they covered every detail in the planning, and I appreciated that. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for. Ok, the only slight downsides are that it's pretty far from city centre, but it's walkable on a nice day or you can always get a taxi (they're usually waiting outside, or reception will ring one for you.) Also, you won't get much of a view because it's basically in an industrial park with a furniture shop, Woody's, and the Eye Cinema (which is actually a plus, because it's the nicest cinema around Galway.) If you're doing Galway with children, this may not be the place to stay, but for a couple's getaway, it's ideal. I love a good boutique hotel, and if that's your style, you'll like the g, too. read more

We loved this hotel. Great staff, beautiful decor and fantastic facilities. The beds were comfy like you wouldn't believe, the room was big and luxurious and the service amazing. The two things that stood out were the great staff - nothing was too much - friendly without being intrusive or over familiar- just great, and the food. We stayed two nights and had dinner and breakfast on both, and lunch when we arrived. Everything was amazing - up there with the best restaurants we've eaten in. We didn't stay at the hotel, we ate at the restaurant in the lobby - it said GiGi on the menus. Dinner was fine. It was supposedly high-quality French fare created with local Irish ingredients. We shared their scallop appetizer, which was three tiny scallops each resting on a pile of potato salad and some "pork cheek". The pork cheek was more like spam - smooth textured mousse that tastes of overdone, overseasoned pork. I had a lobster that was quite overcooked and the only flavor was butter, along with an overpriced shot of whiskey. My husband had a rabbit loin that looked more like chicken sausage, and came with a side of mash...and a side of boiled potatoes. Everything was far more expensive than was reasonable. The decor is just weird - giant purple couches, dark purple walls, and a mish mash of brightly colored chairs. Service was the only thing that I enjoyed! Our waiter was great, though he was completely overworked. He had a couple of large tables, several small tables, and us. Since Galway seems to be the hen party capitol of Ireland, those large tables were easily 16-20 women each. Poor guy! read more

Stay here now and again to treat myself. Really really nice hotel and the modern style is right up my street. Only drop off at the front with parking at the rear in front of the retail units. Valet parking is that sounds like too much work. On entering the lobby there is a neon sign saying "This must be the place" and is certainly is. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hallways on the floors of the bedrooms are black and very dark but it all adds to the atmosphere. Rooms very well finished with nice Philip Treacy touches throughout for example even the room door handles. (Philip Treacy being a famous hat designer). Spa in the hotel also. Back to the lobby level and walking down towards the elevators you will pass through large reception areas all with different colours and modern styles. Very cool. Continue past the elevators and the bar and then the restaurant are in front of you. Funky music playing and the bar has an excellent cocktail menu. All food is 5 star also from the breakfast through to the dinner. If you want to treat yourself or impress somebody this is the place in Galway to stay in or even pop in for a drink. read more

Certainly one of the nicest hotels I've ever been to and the nicest of the three hotels we spent time in during our trip to Ireland. Everything is very fancy, almost hoitey-toitey level and at times I felt under dressed as a tourist. That said, the rooms are super nice, and the elevators don't work unless you have a room key so that was a nice layer of security. The bed was super comfortable, the climate control systems worked perfectly, and the bathrooms were large and luxurious. Turndown service was included which was a nice touch coming back from a long day of walking around the city and coming back to fresh ice and water and music playing on the TV. Breakfast was super good. They have a buffet style continental breakfast as well as a menu based selection of higher quality stuff. Not super filling, but very tasty. I'd stay here again should the chance arise. read more

I stayed here as part of a visit to the Galway Oyster festival, and spent several days over a weekend in the Hotel. We flew from Luton by Air Aran and rented a car to drive into Galway. The hotel itself is totally modern and plush with facilities to match. It's in a totally modern building and looks over a tidal bay but is backed by a business park, not that you would notice unless you go out back to park the car. The rooms are modern and well apportioned, the design is great and the accessories excellent, as you would expect of a hotel of this order. The staff were also friendly and always happy to help. They are of course in the hospitality industry! Galway itself was a disappointing, but having a car meant we could drive far and wide and sample more of the great things Ireland has to offer from rural pubs to the beauty of Yeats country. read more

Place was amazing. Funky decor and very modern. The staff greeted us with excitement and took care of all of us as we headed out to the city center. (15 min walk). They got our bags to the rooms and prepped the rooms while we were strolling the Latin Quarter. Hallways were fun and quirky ...little dark but that was part of the atmosphere because as soon as you entered ur room.....WOW... Light bright and airy. Crisp clean and fresh describes the room best. All modern amenities with some cool twists. Gigi's restaurant was very good but was not willing to let us choose our table even though they only had 2 other reservations. I would stay there again but would not eat at Gigi's. Try some local flair in the Latin Quarter. read more

Everything about being in the hotel was fine. Having heard from so many people that the decor was so cool I was slightly disappointed. The lounge is very cool and each room is very different but the rooms are fairly average. I wouldn't really recommend it when going for a city break to Galway - you have to get a taxi which is annoying. It's only a few minutes and less than a tenner but there are so many hotels in the city centre that I would rather stay next time. Maybe this would be better if going for a spa break? It's significantly more expensive than some of the hotels in the city centre and I just don't think it's worth it. read more
