But they switched servers on us and the other one didn't bring the extra so I had to ask again. Our original server at check-in said 4 and 5 of us are standing there. No 5, lol. The carnitas in the tacos was bland and really salt but we didn't have any and after bringing the food the servers never came back. They were over across the room talking with each other. The green salsa was also very bland. It looked good but needed seasoning. So consumed a lot in my tacos but it didn't help. I will come back but I definitely didn't love the food or service. Note the fried items on menu are all fried on Beef Tallow. Beef fat.

We got our food pretty quick which I appreciated but had to wait for the utensils and kids lemonade. My fish tacos were meh, tasted plain with batter being the main flavor. Was hoping they would taste amazing with the 805 cerveza but it was meh. Hubby loved his tritip sando. He loved the bbq sauce and aoli sauce. He ate it all up. My kiddos chicken tenders and fries was huge!! Had to get it packed up to go. Would be great for a hungry growing boy. Overall it was ok, liked the patio, service was meh, and my tacos were meh, we will be back though I just won't get the tacos again. it's great stop driving back from the beach.

This place has personality! The customer service from the chap taking our order was good and proper, unlike the bar north of here. We were happy to be given that amount of respect. They also provide donations to local charities that change with the season. Here's our order: Philly Cheese Steak. Very good. 4 out of 5. Could've been less dry overall. BBQ Burger was yummy. 4.5 out of 5. Bbq sauce was unique and smoky. Beef was cooked to a perfect medium well, but did not cover their yummy brioche bun as much. Pulled Pork Sandwich with Cole slaw on the side. 5 out of 5. The House Fried Kettle Chips are good, but we prefer their fries. They are thin sliced goodness, perfectly seasoned and very crispy. (Someone said their loaded fries are to die for.) Lastly, they are a bar as well, but gave off no weird sentiment when we said we did not want drinks. Mad respect for that! All in all, a balanced 5 out of 5 from us!

The outdoor seating gives it a fun, casual vibe, though it was pretty hot when we visited since there's no indoor option. We came with a large group and everyone ordered separately, which resulted in our food coming out at really different times--something to keep in mind if you're dining with others. Despite the timing issues, it's a solid spot for a relaxed meal if you don't mind the heat and aren't in a rush.

It had been recommended by…read morefriends who live in the area, and my first experience was solid enough that I was looking forward to coming back. On my first visit (evening), we walked in without a reservation and were quickly seated at the last available table. The place had a lively atmosphere, and it looked like part of the space turns into more of a dance floor later in the night. I had the French onion soup, raw oysters, and the pot pie, all of which were good. The pot pie in particular is something I would recommend. This most recent visit was for lunch on a weekday. There were plenty of open tables, and we were seated right away. Parking was easy, which is typical outside of busy weekends. The experience this time around was more mixed. We wanted to order oysters Rockefeller, but they were completely out of oysters, which was disappointing. I ordered a black and tan, which tasted fine, but it came with a design on top that I wasn't expecting. Not a big deal, just different from what I had in mind. For food, my girlfriend ordered the blackened salmon and said it was good. I went with the corned beef and cabbage. The corned beef itself was flavorful and served over mashed potatoes, which were well done. The cabbage, though, wasn't what I expected. Instead of a more traditional preparation, it was grilled with char marks and topped with au jus. The texture came out a bit rubbery and didn't really absorb the flavor well, which made that part of the dish underwhelming. Service was okay but not great. My water ran empty at one point, and I had to ask for a refill. We also ordered boneless wings as an appetizer and asked for extra ranch, which didn't come out until we reminded the server. The biggest issue, though, was something I noticed from our table with a partial view into the kitchen. An employee had their shoe up on a shelf that appeared to be holding clean dishes, which didn't come across as sanitary. I also saw food being adjusted on a plate by someone who didn't appear to be the cook. I can't speak to what's happening behind the scenes in terms of handwashing or procedures, but visually, it raised concerns. That part of the experience honestly left a bad impression. Between that, the missed items, and some inconsistencies with the food, it changed how I feel about coming back. My first visit had me excited to return, but after this one, I'm not sure I would.

Yeah well, this is definitely not the case here at Primal House. First time visit here, which we stumbled upon just by driving around and exploring. Now this place will definitely be a "must" whenever we come back into town. Ordered the Primal Burger, which in my humble opinion is second to none and probably one of the best I've had thus far! 4oz (x2) of the freshest, most succulent, meat-forward tasting, and perfectly cooked beef (medium rare) you could ever imagine! WOW, just wow! Superb service the day we came and we were also humbled to have met Chef Marcel who just happened to come out to the dining area to say hello. That speaks volumes in my book. Thank you, Chef. As I write this review, I'm already looking forward to trying their ribeye the next time we come back to town! LOL. CHEERS and happy eating till next time...

We come to Paso Robles pretty regularly to pick up our wine club deliveries -- yes, we're those…read morepeople -- and this spring trip we finally decided to give Primal House a shot. Made a reservation for seven, brought our own bottle of J Duci (obviously), and settled into the fine dining area, which was noticeably quieter and more relaxed than the bar scene. Great call. Now, we came in as wine people. But the beer? Genuinely blew us away. We did a flight just to be thorough, and my dad -- a man who loves his wine -- abandoned ship entirely and went straight for the black cherry dunkelweizen. How do I describe it? Imagine someone took a Dr Pepper, gave it a glow-up, and turned it into an actual craft beer. Bizarre. Wonderful. 10/10 would confuse my taste buds again. On the food: the artichoke dip had a nice little kick to it that snuck up on you in the best way. The pretzels and cheese sauce? We need to have a serious conversation about the pretzel-to-cheese-sauce ratio, because we ran out of pretzels long before we ran out of sauce. That's not a complaint -- that's a cry for help. Send more pretzels. Three of us went for the prime rib special and my husband got the ribeye with mushrooms. The salad that came with the prime rib was fresh and crisp, and the blue cheese dressing was legit. The prime rib itself was juicy, well-seasoned, and not overly fatty. Fair warning though -- it seemed like they roast it and then finish it on the grill, so getting a true medium-rare is probably off the table. Ours came out closer to medium, but it had this great steak-like texture that honestly worked. Would I order it again? Absolutely yes. The mashed potatoes that came with everything were also quietly excellent -- the kind of side dish you keep going back to without realizing it. Really looking forward to coming back and working our way through more of the menu. Hidden gem alert for anyone doing the Paso wine trail!
