Stopped in for a quick drink while charging the EV and WOW! What a surprise to find the new location is amazing and better than ever. Luke was our bartender and is super personable and knowledgeable. The vibe is chill and the drinks are smooth and silky. We are ordering a smash burger, more to follow....

This place is a locals paradise - absolutely the most unassuming haven for locals and tourists alike. The owners, Anna and Eric, greeted us with a smile and warm welcome! They are such lovely, wonderful humans! We visited during a downtown sip and shop event so downtown Atascadero was packed. There were groups of people walking around, drinks in hand, wandering from shop to shop. We stopped in and sat at the bar where they have a variety of their liquors displayed beautifully. They also had a wonderful live band playing inside which was such a treat! We tasted the blue agave and ordered the jungle bird, a beautifully orange colored drink that makes you feel like you are sipping an amazing tropical drink sitting on the beach. The drinks are so so good! They also have a smaller food menu including things like steak, fries, charcuterie board, etc. The inside is rather small and super cozy for intimate gatherings and conversations. They also have an outdoor patio seating area. This truly is one of the best spots in SLO County! Thanks, Eric and Anna!

During the recent holiday 'Sip and Shop' event in downtown Atascadero, my husband and I decided to start off with a cocktail from here. Admittedly we had tried to come here before, but they weren't open (and have more limited hours than other businesses in the area). They are mostly open Thursdays to Saturdays. They apparently also have a kitchen and can serve a small menu of dishes (though just covering their drinks in this review). We were greeted by friendly wait staff who ushered us to an indoor table (though be aware they also have quite a bit of outdoor options, which is good given their more limited indoor seating). I had their version of a Cosmopolitan while my husband had his standard Old Fashioned. Not only was my drink delicious, but it was decorative---a great combo in a craft cocktail. My husband really enjoyed the flavor in his cocktail too. We loved hearing about how they go about preparing their spirits too. I think the smaller indoor area helped to create a cozy and warm ambiance. I would love to bring some of my girlfriends back here to share this new treasure with them also.

We stopped in yesterday and found a delicious distillery hidden in Atascadero. The proprietor, Eric Olsen led us thru an interesting journey of craft spirits, military service, and hospitality! He takes a culinary approach to the making spirits sourcing through local farmers, ranchers and local fauna. While telling us a story, he took some fresh lavender rescued from his car an prepared a cocktail for the guests next to us! We took home the bottle of Rum aged in Bourbon barrels and made a cocktail called "Anne Bonny" named after the Irish Female Pirate, terror of the Caribbean; as we watched the sunset for the day.

Walking into this quaint small distillery, you immediately see the tanks. Eric the owner greeted us. We sat down at the slender, sleek bar and proceeded to do a tasting flight. First vodka, then gin, onto bourbon, and finally a whisky. The vodka is made out of raw honey. Very smooth. Something you can drink straight. But to us, the flavor remind us of an agave tequila. Not something we could enjoy on a daily basis. Next the gin. Delightfully easy to drink. Then we had the bourbon that is rum finished in a bourbon barrel. Smooth to drink but it's not really aged. Last the whisky. A little harsher, however I am not much on whisky so I am not the best judgement on it. After the tasting we had a made to order, tangerine mojitio, that was quite delicious! The tangerine was not over powering. It is a little pricey but well worth it. We ended up taking home a bourbon. Great time! Great host! Thank you Eric.

Very hospitable and great customer service! Ana was able to help us and we leaned so much about distillery in only one hour. We did a tasting and all the spirits we're smooth and unique in their own way. The only thing I noticed was that their spirits had a thicker mouth feel than I'm used to for most whiskeys, rums and tequilas. But everything was great! I recommend the rum aged in bourbon barrels and the agave spirit. Would suggest to visit for anyone in the area. Amazing service, drinks, and overall experience

Super cool little spot. Hidden gem actually. Just inside the downtown area of Atascadero. Had an old fashion and my friends had some other crafted cocktails that all looked super yummy.

Seriously the nicest people, so hospitable and Eric's stories will crack you up as he makes your drinks. The freshest ingredients & free appetizers on Thursday, with the purchase of a cocktail. Kids welcome and they eat/drink free. My 6 year old loves the royal treatment with her fancy lemonade. Cozy setting inside the distillery or hang out on the little patio out front, which is dog friendly. Grateful they are in Atascadero!

    The copper still is gorgeous!

This was a delightful experience. Just like wine tasting at a small winery, but here it's amazing spirits. The gin and the dark rum are standouts, but it's all wonderful. Friendly people and treats too!

I wish I could give more stars. The service and quality is absolutely amazing at this place. We have tried other distilleries in the area and none of them compare to this place. After coming here multiple times and having tried multiple cocktails, this is our new go to place for drinks and date nights. They even have delicious food some nights! Eric goes above and beyond to make the perfect drinks, including going to grab lavender across the street. I highly recommend the "80 dollar drink". Don't worry, it doesn't actually cost you that much and Eric will be happy to tell you why it has that name. -805 Karen

Eric and Anna provide a wonderfully welcoming experience making their business feel like home. While the charm would keep you coming back every time the drinks are absolutely out of this world. Freshly muddled fruit and perfectly crafted spirits make for the most delicious vacation cocktails right in our own backyard. Don't miss the old fashioned. It's incredible!

The staff that was there was really friendly, and I liked the fact that they'd tried a lot of the whiskeys and drinks on the menu so they could make recommendations based on what you were looking for. When we were there they were out of half the whiskeys so we did a tasting with the whiskeys available. Not a bad price either 3 for $10 or 6 for $20. Totally worth it. Once you tried them you can pick your fave to make one of their many cocktail options or have it on the rocks or neat. They also had vodka, gin, Tequila, beer, and wine. As a plus they had food and happy hour! So the whiskeys were all good to me, smooth, and a couple were on the sweeter side with notes of caramel and vanilla. The rye was surprisingly one of the smother sweeter ones I tried. After the tasting I had the Matt Hattan which was delicious! My friend had the smokey old fashioned and after tasting mine he ordered a Matt Hattan as well after he finished his drink. I giggly recommend it. We ordered food and we didn't even know it was happy hour but they let us know that it was. The wings were REALLY good. Flavorful and still crispy. Lots of places lose the crisp when they had the flavor but not here. It was delicious, I ended up getting a second order after the first and finishing both! If you're looking for a chill place to hang out and can't decide on what type of drink you want definitely got this place up. You won't regret it!

I got the Everything salad. An added chicken. It was a good size, but it just for me didn't have much flavor. It left my taste buds feeling kind of blah. My son got a turkey sandwich on a grilled ciabatta bread with fries. I looked up and down and it was gone. So his was good my Aussie girl got a burger patty. They do have dog meals there, but they didn't have any that day. I looked up and down, and her burger was gone. I guess she learned that from her brother. If you haven't been to Rod and hammers establishment yet, go there when it's not raining. You have a complete inside and you're fine from the rain. But if you go there when it's not raining, they have a great outdoor area to sit that has fireplaces and a cool sitting arrangement. You can get pizzas, pretzels, nachos, plus the food menu inside or outside. They have whiskey tastings, which are fantastic. I highly recommend trying one of those. When you're not the driver. . I recommend rod and hammers for happy hour and fun drinks. I'd have to go back and try some different items on the menu. I probably won't go back for a lunch unless I can get someone to split a pizza with me. The pizzas were good when I've been there for a happy hour. And so were the pretzels. I was so busy catching up with my son. I forgot to take pictures of the place. But I do have a picture of my really cute Aussie dog.

On a recent weekend, they had six distillation products to taste: 1) Barrel #1 Bourbon, 2) Barrel #17 CornWhiskey, 3) Apple Cinnamon Bourbon, 4) "fruit infused corn whiskey, 5) cherry spiced rum, 6)Maple pecan Bourbon whiskey. A $20 tasting got you a tiny pour of each in a whiskey cairn glass. Most bottles were $80 for 750 ml. One was $100 ( I forget which). It's a little pricey, but he's a one-man operation with none of the big distillery economy of scale working for him. Right now, he's emphasizing the tastings and the distillery-logo gift items, such as an engraved whiskey cairn glass (those are cool!) and assorted t-shirts. I'm glad I found this small local spot. I hope he grows enough to be able to try barrel-aging his stuff for longer periods. His products are pretty young, but definitely interesting. I'd be really excited if he were to try working with malted barley, too. However,I do understand that this is a small operation. The guy looked a little more tired and less chatty about his product than he was a couple of years ago. He might consider taking on someone to help with the tasting room pourings and talking to the public. I think he could use a bigger space, already. Parking in the lot in front of the restaurant is available. In a pinch, you can also park across the street and walk over. Be careful, traffic on Los Osos Valley Road is pretty fast.
