Tequila Lime Shrimp
Michelle Q.

Had a gran ol time here. The drinks are amazing and the food is delicious. I will say that if you don't like your food being too "wet" don't get the shrimp lime. It's delicious but the sauce was too heavy. The wings are delicious. Enjoy the meal!

Baja Street Corn on the Cob, Ohana Quesadillas, Camaron Quesadillas

On our journey to try all the Mexican restaurants on the island, we visited Ho'brah on a Saturday afternoon. It was not busy at all so we were quickly seated at a table. We ordered the baja street corn, camaron quesadillas, and ohana quesadillas from their expansive menu. Our waiter informed us that there was another street corn option in a bowl, but we opted for the corn on the cob option as it was less expensive. However, we regretted our decision as the bowl would definitely have been easier to eat. Everything was presented nicely and my ohana quesadillas were pretty good, although I wish I had gotten it without bacon and the brisket as those components became overwhelming midway through the meal. Overall, Ho'brah is a solid Mexican spot on the island, but nothing was mindblowing about the restaurant.

Buffalo chicken tacos

I've been here several times over the years but something is different, not sure if they recently went under new management, changed cooks, but the food and menu has been elevated. Even the chips and guac is hitting different. Chips are so fresh, warm, tasty, guac is seasoned well. I'm so here for this! I recommend the new Buffalo chicken taco, dirty bird taco, brisket taco, quesadilla birria, tostones with all the fixings. I basically recommend for lunch/tapas. Space is clean, kid friendly. Check it out.

I came to this restaurant because it was recommended to me. My daughter and I ordered a burrito and my other daughter ordered a kids taco. We all liked the food as it was presented nicely and had good flavor. The 2 stars is for the poor service. We ordered Salsa, chips and guacamole to start with. When that was finished, my daughter asked for more guacamole to have with her burrito. The waitress brought out a whole new bowl of chips, salsa and guacamole, not saying that we would be charged extra. When the bill came, we were charged for 2 starters. She said the guacamole is $12 each for a small bowl because of the high price for avocados. I've been to many restaurants and the most I've paid for a side of guacamole is about $6. The drinks ( iced tea) were not free for refills and we were charged each time a new one was brought. Again, the waitress said nothing.

Staten Island Staple We came around 7:30 on Sunday evening and got seated outside right away. Really liked the chill ambiance of this place. I brought Maheen to this Staten Island staple since she was craving tacos. Both of us really liked the ambiance and sat outside since the weather was great. Definitely recommend bringing a date or grabbing a drink with friends here. Even though we had a full spread you can definitely get away ordering drinks and apps. Also, a very friendly server! Moderately priced tacos, but you get your bang for your buck! Since the tacos are so elaborate, it's good to eat them in house. Shrimp empanada - Crunchy shell, deep fried paired well with the savory filling. Don't skip using the dipping sauce it comes with. We both loved this one Thunderbird - well seasoned chicken with a zesty lime flavor, also this is a heavy packed taco some might need to use both hands to eat this. Classic cali fish taco- deep fried mini fish filet with a nice chipotle mayo drizzle and slaw inside the taco Captain Jack - At this point we had over ordered, Pickled Onions added a nice vinegary flavor to the fried shrimp. Acidity from the onions balances the oil of a fried shrimp.

SPAM Musubi--served warm. grilled spam + rice, wrapped in crispy seaweed. this was fine. all the flavors are there. however i would stick with the bigger bites on the menu or another side order of macaroni salad. the interior is well-maintain, clean, and casual sit-down interior. there's a decent amount of tables if you want to dine in. the staff is friendly and accommodating. my to-go order was neatly wrapped up and bagged. if you are looking for a different kind of comfort food, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue has got a lot of options for you. it's also nice to have a place to grab some enjoyable Hawaiian calories without a 10-hour plane flight! though, i'd still rather be in Maui or the Big Island--when are we getting that teleportation thing going?? Ha

Im giving it just 1 star for the crispiness but it's not authentic lumpia by any means. It tasted more like those bootlegged spring rolls from Chinese American takeout restaurants. Each roll was also very skinny/lacked filling. Saimin w chicken katsu - 2/5. To be fair I've never had Hawaiian style ramen before so I don't know if saimin is supposed to taste like this. But if I had to choose between a bowl of ramen from a Japanese restaurant or this saimin, you can't pay me to choose the latter. It was like a whitewashed version of ramen, in which the broth had a vegetable flavor and not rich at all. The toppings were Naruto slices and bits of veggies. The katsu was ok but not memorable. Loco moco plate - 3/5 my husband loves loco moco so I had to get it for him. I was surprised it came with two eggs (you get to choose how you want them done) and two Patties. So basically two servings in this plate! Despite the generous portion, the food was just alright. We had loco moco from vert frais (jap French fusion eatery in LIC) recently, and that was so much better. The patty here was neither tender nor juicy. The sauce was pretty average but vert frais' was above average. I was really looking forward to the macaroni salad in the plate but they didn't give a lot (they piled it on some rice so it looked like more than it was). The Mac salad was also a little on the plainer side. Only had a couple of carrot shreds I'm tempted to come back to try their seafood but I have my doubts

They have many menu options ranging from preset poke bowls, to make your own, combo meals, and mini meals. Drinks are about $2.50 a piece, and a wide variety of Hawaiian Sun, casual soda. I was tempted to get the mini meal since I don't eat a lot, but I ultimately caved and decided to get the combo meal since I wanted to try the Kailua pork too. The verdict? The Kailua pork was a little too salty for me, it comes mixed with like cabbage or lettuce, and overall very mushy which I didn't mind. However the Chicken Katsu came with a bbq type sauce and everyone thought the sauce was delicious. My fiance ordered the bbq mix which included the bbq chicken, beef, and short ribs and I thought the beef was so yummy. The portion size was big. All the combos come with either 1-2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. My meal was pretty perfect for 2 whole meals for me. I ate the katsu with my leftover rice for breakfast the next morning! The food comes in takeout containers which makes it very easy for you to take to go if you don't finish. I might have to come back and try the poke next time...

The menu had mostly Hawaiian options to choose from. The pricing was very reasonable as well. I had the customizable poke bowl ($15.95). There was a number of different options to choose from with different proteins, toppings, sauces, etc. I had a base of brown rice with avocado, cucumber, sweet corn, edamame, mango, ahi tuna, spicy mayo, ginger, wasabi, jalapeno, green onion, and cilantro. This was nicely done. Everything appeared fresh and it was a good size portion. I would have just liked to seen a little more ahi tuna present, but besides that, very pleasant and filling. I also had the spam musubi ($2.95) and a side of macaroni salad ($3.95). The musubi was okay. It was a little dry. There needed to be more sauce present. The macaroni salad was a heaping portion, and it was tasty. There looked like a lot of mayonnaise present, but it was not too overpowerful as some type of sugar seemed to be incorporated to balance it out. Regardless of what it was, the salad was flavorful. Will I go back? I would.

Hawaiian Kitchen, based in Bethpage, absolutely knocked it out of the park! From the start, they were incredibly easy to work with and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. I had originally requested 2-liter bottles of soda, but since they didn't have them in stock, they proactively delivered individual cans instead to ensure our team had plenty of drinks. Now, for the food--it was phenomenal. Our office hasn't stopped raving about it! The Coconut Shrimp and Grilled Shrimp were huge hits, and the Angus Steak was incredibly tender. Even the Chicken Fried Rice was a standout, and all of their signature sauces were delicious. They also did a large house salad for us with the most incredible Ginger dressing. I had numerous people ask me where I found them, and I couldn't wait to order for their next small house parties or to pick up dinner on the way home. It was all so fresh and not greasy. We also ordered spring rolls that were so light and crispy, pineapple fried rice that was really delicious, and marinated chicken and steamed broccoli. If you're looking for reliable catering that people will actually get excited about, I can't recommend Hawaiian Kitchen enough. THANK YOU for making me look like a superstar! An Unforgettable Quesabirria Experience at Maya's Cafe Mexican Cuisine!…read more Finding truly exceptional Mexican food can sometimes feel like a quest, but my visit to Maya's Cafe Mexican Cuisine delivered in a big way, specifically with their phenomenal Quesabirria. From the moment it arrived, I had a feeling it would be special, and I was not disappointed. The quesabirria itself was a masterpiece of flavor and texture. It was immediately clear that freshness was a priority here. The tortilla was perfectly crisped, providing a satisfying base for the generous filling inside. But the real star was the birria steak - it was incredibly tender, bursting with juice, and packed with a deep, savory taste that spoke of careful preparation and quality ingredients. Each bite was simply delicious. What truly elevated the dish, however, were the thoughtful details. The fresh cilantro wasn't just sprinkled on; it added a vibrant, aromatic quality and a necessary burst of freshness that cut through the richness of the meat and cheese beautifully, enhancing the overall taste profile significantly. And then there was the consumé. Oh, that consumé! Calling it 'out of this world' is almost an understatement. It was served steaming hot, a rich, dark broth brimming with complex flavors. It was savory, comforting, and utterly addictive. Seriously, it was so incredibly delicious and satisfying on its own that I could have happily just sipped it straight from the cup. Dipping the flavorful quesabirria into that liquid gold created a perfect harmony - a truly memorable culinary moment. It's been a little while since I had the chance to visit Maya's Cafe, but the memory of that meal has genuinely stayed with me. I find myself actively craving that specific combination of flavors and textures again. While I haven't managed to get back just yet, I am truly looking forward to my next visit, and you can bet I'll be ordering the quesabirria again. If you appreciate authentic Mexican cuisine made with care, or if you're on the hunt for truly outstanding quesabirria, I wholeheartedly recommend making a trip to Maya's Cafe Mexican Cuisine.
