Ho'Brah has easily become one of my favorite places. It's within walking distance of my house and my best friend and I love to stop in for dinner and a few drinks! The decor is awesome; vibrant colors, painted murals and a quaint sense of style! The food is always fine, but I personally come here for their sangria! I really enjoyed the first time I visited this restaurant. But today I wasn't too happy. The nachos are kinda over priced for the amount you get. The burrito was yummy but was dry, definitely needed more chipotle ranch. The worst part was the waitress took our order and never came by to check on us, refill our waters or see if we needed anything. She returned to give the check. Came in for lunch while visiting friends on Staten Island. The place seemed empty when we came in, which was good because it quickly filled up. By the time we were leaving there were several people waiting to be sat. The food here is served in monstrous proportions - at least my burrito was. I was rather disappointed with this joint, I wanted to like it so much more. The restaurant is decorated Mexican Hawaiian themed which is pretty cool. Staff was attentive and extremely friendly. My partner and I shared a few tacos. The tacos didn't seem to have much seasoning or flavor. As for the guacamole, I was hoping it was going to be fresh avocados. It was def fresh out of a bag. Ho Brah, what a great place to come to Staten Island adding freshness and competition to the Tex Mex area. Burrito bar needs beware. The classic California surfer style bar and restaurant packs plenty into a small dining area and 10 seat bar w tv to catch local game. Other then parking situation can be a little rough at times a reason a star dropped. I can honestly say the ambiance is nice with a lot wood theme. The staff is a younger college age but is driven to make your experience the best. At least I can say each time I've come to ho'brah that's been the case. I have visited a couple times now. Let me go on to say the food is very good. The taco menu has a nice variety of choices. I have pretty much sampled all. My Favorites. 1. Long Beach AllStar is a must order to however you decide. The Honey Bourbon BBQ sauce used with the Hanger steak mouth watering. 2. Cabo grilled white flaky fish with the pineapple salsa, California coleslaw, and avocado crema. A nice touch and light. Rounding off my top 3 is the Diablo Diego Shrimp. Spivey double chile marinated, California coleslaw, Pico and chipotle crema is a great finisher to any taco order. I can't really describe other then try it! Add a side of black beans, rice, and Pico for $2.95 it's a fair price with the size of the bowl your receive. Another recommendation I can give is save room for the street corn. Have this as an appetizer or better finish you meal with this scrumptious hidden menu item but not for much longer. I have raved to all friends and family about the street corn. It's char-grilled sweet corn brushed with mayo, lightly dusted with Chili powder, cotija cheese and lime. I'm good with out the lime. This is offered on the Cobb or off. I prefer off the Cobb. I believe the bowl is bigger. This is a definite must try. See the photos I've uploaded. As for the drinks I can not give an opinion as I have not ordered any of yet but am sure to try on an upcoming revisit planned in near future. Another great Staten Island find. The drinks are delicious I had the blue berry frozen Margarita it had dehydrated berries and mixed in was more of blue berry purée then a fake syrup yum! For starters you can't go wrong with the guacamole and chips awesome tasting guac.. Food is great no matter what you decide. There's is live Dj on Saturday night makes it a fun atmosphere. read more

Went here last night. We loved it! The atmosphere is a little funky, we didn't have to wait for a table, the specials were shown to us on an ipad (I notice a few places doing this lately), and our server approached is very quickly. She gave us her suggestions (the pork empanadas) and gave us some more time to make our decisions. My boyfriend had the pork empanadas and I had the fried avocado taco to start with, then we each got the mission bay burritos...his with steak & shrimp, mine was just plain. Delicious! The burritos were a perfect size. Filling without being overwhelming. And it came so fast after we ordered...less than 10 mins! We will be coming back definitely. Not many Tex-mex choices on the island, so we decided to check this place out. We arrived just before 6PM on Saturday night and were seated right away. The service was slow at first, took a while for our drink orders. Within 15 minutes of our arrival, the place filled up, with at least 20 people at the bar waiting for tables. Our waitress arrived during this "rush" and took our order. We started with the nachos with "Bohemain" chicken. Nice platter of nachos topped with guac, salsa, sour cream and jalapeño right out of the broiler. Tried the "long beach all star" (grilled hanger steak with a sweet bbq), the Sunset pork, and the "Cabo" tacos. All of the tacos were fresh and quite tasty We also tried a "Mission Bay" Buritto with sunset pork . It arrived with nice looking grill marks, a little to much rice filling for me, but it was very good. All in all a good experience. I will be going back. read more

Was in Staten Island and decided to check this place out for a late lunch. I ordered the Cabo fish taco , pulled pork and the nachos .. Everything was delicious and tasty. I also ordered a mojito which was not good at all. It seemed like the bartender added more seltzer and forget to add the mint leaves and barcardi to the drink. I'm definitely not ordering another drink from this place. The waiter /service as you read in some reviews is lacking. I was seated for 20 minutes until I was able to get the attention of the waiter to place my order. The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because my food was on point. read more

I went recently with my teenage son. Been to this location a couple of times before, and I've always been happy.. The food is good. They offer lunch specials which is very good too. I took off a star because the couple next to me, who clearly had one too many drinks, decided that 2:30 pm is a good time to give your boyfriend a hand job under the table. I'm not an old prude, but the tables in the front are close to one another. Their waiter just kept bringing them drinks. Which I understand buisness is buisness ... but they were clearly bombed.. To make matters worse my son was sitting next to them, inches away.. I was disgusted.. rather than yell at them to get a damn room, I took my food and packed it to go. I had a good time at Hobrah.. the drinks were good but priced a little on the high side for a casual SI restaurant. I ordered 2 margaritas. One on ice the other frozen. Both were $11 each. The drinks came in a regular size glass.. I could have gone to Burrito bar down the block and got a margarita there for the same price but twice the size and a lot stronger. I went to the restaurant around 7 so It would have been nice if Hobrah had a happy hour special going on. Now the food.. I ordered Mexican street corn and a burrito with shrimp. The corn was very bland.. it looked good.. but the flavor was so light you couldn't tell that there was anything on it. The burrito on the other hand was excellent. I really enjoyed the burrito. It was large and stuffed full of jasmine rice, beans, shrimp, guacamole and chipotle aoli. I ate the whole thing lol. The service was good also. The waitress and hostess were attentive and friendly. Hobrah provides a nice atmosphere, good food and decent drinks. The food was reasonably priced.. the alcohol could be a little more reasonable being that this is SI but I guess the restaurant has to make their money... Overall, Hobrah is a yes! This place is pretty good. In my opinion, it's a little over rated. I went after being told by everyone I knew that it was amazing but didn't find anything Too amazing. The food is good but nothing special. The only thing I would say is their guacamole is very good. Other than that you're getting basic tacos and burritos. A good tip: never go on a weekend!! Great location! Been here 3 times so far. The outside colors and decor really catches the eye. Inside as well. The bar you can tell makes the drinks with fresh ingredients without asking so. The set up is comfy. The staff is very friendly and you can tell they want to make it a great experience. The food here is great on an exponential level however the service is the worst service of any restaurant I've been to. We waited an hour to be seated so we got there at 6:30 sat down at 7:30 now it is 9 o'clock at night with no food, and nobody cane to offer a refill of our waters. All in all, the food is great but you should only come here if you want to sit down for 3.5 hours. My friends even began to fall asleep.
