My daughter and I went here on 5/31/2024 for late lunch about 3 pm. We were immediately sat at a booth table. The table needed cleaning off which was fine with us. Our server a young dark haired lady said she would be right back to do that . That's it. We waited about ten minutes. No menu, no clean table , no drinks. She never made it back to check on us. We left and went elsewhere to eat. It was not busy. Only about three people at the bar. And people on the other side of the bar. But plenty of staff walked back and forth and by us. My husband and I went here for date night last night and the food and service was outstanding. We stared with the pimiento cheese fritters, they came out piping hot and delicious. My husband built his burger and his comment was it tasted as if he made it himself, perfection! I had the California burger with chicken and it was delish and full of flavor. I would say the service was terrible but honestly I have no idea. They sat us and no one came over to take our order for 15 minutes. Wait staff were standing around chatting at the bar so they weren't extremely busy. There were a lot of dirty tables and the parking lot could use some lighting. This is one of the dirtiest restaurants I have seen. We walked in (on a Monday 10/15/2023) at 8:10pm, hours State they close at 9pm but the hostess ignored us for so long at the front door that we left because I think they didn't want to seat more people. As she was ignoring us, she was cleaning a table by dropping all the food onto the floor. The floors were disgusting, it looked like they had not sweep the entire day. It wasn't just a few crumbs, it was food and more. I couldn't believe that no one even looked at us while we waited to to try to dine in. We waited for 10 minutes and then decided to just leave. No acknowledgement at all. I would not recommend this place based on the lack of service but really because of how dirty it was. We've eaten at the Rock Hill location...not my fav .very loud inside because of the high ceilings..outside seating is very nice. We needed dinner last night and we're in Ft Mill. Wow, cute place. I'm going with 3 stars to balance my 1 and 5 star experience. This option was my choice as the new one was packed and I had a good experience here in the past. So we go here around 8:45 PM and sat outside. The band was playing and Hoboritas were the special of the night. The waitress comes back and tells us that there are no more margaritas, which is fine so we just stick with soft drinks. As we wait on the drinks, the waitress tells us that there is going to be a wait on the food, which was fine since we went to celebrate a high-school graduation. Less than three minutes later, she comes back and tells us that there was an accident and that the kitchen is now closed. I get callouts or a busy night, but it was not even 9:05 by that time. Very cool place, plenty of seating, and the food is above average and service is ok. We went in a Friday night and were seated right away, we had the specials which were Mojotos, well prepared would definitely recommend. Food we went with the fried pimento cheese, and 2 burgers....sooo much food! Burgers were very large came with a side so we paid extra for the box tots and onion rings. More quantity than quality in my opinion, we had the T Money which was q burger between two grilled cheeses. burger was cooked to temp and juicy but lacked seasoning and taste pretty bland. Onion rings were very good, the tots were a disappointment...it was mashed potatoes tots, not shredded potatoes like it should be. Not amazing but not bad and worth the price. This popular hangout has a roomy bar that seats 18, a dozen HDTV screens and great patio overlooking a green area for frolicking kids. I'm sure it is fun place to grab a beer with friends but, like a lot of sports bars, the food leaves a lot to be desired. Now, based on their mediocre Yelp ratings, I didn't expect an unforgettable 5-star culinary adventure, but I did expect much more than was delivered. Their menu highlights their burgers, priced $8 to $11, so I went the safe route and ordered a regular burger with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles and a side of fries. As my photo illustrates, the fries were so drenched with oil that I was only able to eat only a couple. Now, I know all fries are somewhat greasy, but these were swimming in oil. The burger did "appear" appetizing. It was certainly 8 or ounces or so, and the brioche bun looked tasty; however, the bun was so stale that when I bit into it, it crumbled. Now, I realize that I can be a bread-snob but in my mind, the bun can either make or break even the best of burgers. In this case, it did not bode well for the rest of the burger, which I decided to eat breadless. Hey, at least it was healthier! The meat itself was somewhat gristley and, based on its bright pink center throughout, was cooked to medium rare to medium although I ordered it medium well. Even the lettuce (wilted baby greens) and tomato left a lot to be desired. I know, I know... I could have sent it back but, with everthing wrong with it, I felt I'd be rolling the dice. Plus, quite simply, I shouldn't have to. In fairness, my friend enjoyed his grilled cheese with bacon (although he had the same oil saturated fries.) Service-wise, our young waitress was friendly enough, but left with us with hanging with an empty tea glass a couple of times. So, in conclusion, would I return for a beer on the patio? Sure I would, but I'd also make darn sure to eat elsewhere before I got there. read more

I had been stalking Hobo's Instagram since I moved to the area a few months ago. I was recently in the area around lunch time and finally stopped in. Parking can be a bit tricky depending on when you are here but there seems to be spots if you don't mind a small walk. We picked an unfortunate time to dine here for the first time because when we walked in we had a long wait which was then explained to us that a large number of employees did not come to work and that the restaurant was extremely short staffed. I must admit, these employees that did show up did a tremendous job serving us despite being obviously very short staffed. The service was great the entire time. The food was amazing and everything had huge portions. We shared an order of cheese fritters and I had an adult key lime pie milkshake. I had the grown up grilled cheese and my husband had the chicken and waffle sandwich. We loved everything and will most absolutely be back. read more

Hobo's is a great downtown spot that is well liked by my employer and coworkers. I have had Hobo's twice now because of their want to order from there or go there for lunch. I really want to love Hobo's and I think they have potential, but it is just not there for me yet. The first time I ordered the grown up grilled cheese with their pasta salad to go. I would be interested in trying this again, but this was probably my fault for ordering a grilled cheese to go, it is never really that good once you get something to go as the gooey-ness and goodness of a grilled cheese just goes away during travel. So could this have potential - sure, but it was not good as a to-go option - even after reheat. The second time was in person and it was the chicken and waffle sandwich. This was huge - just give me half as an option and I'm good (really because it did awful as reheated leftovers). I kind of left disappointed with this. I thought the execution of the chicken and the waffle was good, but it ended up dry as there was just not enough of the maple aioli. I would almost just prefer that they serve it as chicken and waffles and let me add aioli/syrup as I need. There look like other great options to try (especially those milkshakes). I'll probably give it a third try (probably even more knowing my coworkers love the place), but I still need to be won over for me to try it on my own. read more

Burger joint in downtown Ft Mill. Family friendly that offers a variety of burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes and drinks. Went on a Saturday evening and it was packed. Had about a 20 min wait for 2 ppl. The hostess that night 1/21 wasn't friendly at all but our waiter Angel was fantastic. She was very patient in allowing us time to explore the menu and ask a lot of questions. Very very hospitable. I went with the Grilled Cheese burger (can't think of it's official name) but it was huge! Whatever cheese they use for the grilled cheese was delicious and what I loved about the "burger" was the left over bread that didn't get eating with the patty I could eat alone as a grille cheese sandwich! The Cajun fries that accompanied my burger were also very good. I loved dipping them in the hobo sauce. The garlic aioli was not good to me. We also tried the buffalo shrimp and they were good. I just went back and looked at the really early reviews I did on Hobos and not only am I glad they have made it, but they have improved and excelled in many areas over the years. They have the best Happy Hour in the area with $3 pints until 7 pm. While I don't often have food while I'm there, the bar service is excellent, especially when Amber is working. Every time I have a long drive anywhere I never really plan ahead on where to eat. It's usually just some random fast food. I finally got tired of it all and checked Google Maps to see what each town offered along my route. It didn't take long to find Hobo's on the map and all the pictures had me sold. It's just a few minutes off I-77 and even though there's a parking lot behind the restaurant I had to park in the grass and pray I didn't get a ticket. Prayer works. As soon as I was inside I knew it was the kind of place I was craving. As I was by myself, I took a seat at the bar and ordered a beer. Settling on one item on the menu was tougher than expected. Everything sounded good. Martin's Melt, a patty melt with grilled mushrooms and onions on sourdough turned out to be an excellent choice. Portion size exceeded expectations and I was barely able to finish even my Cajun fries and garlic aioli. Hobo's is exactly the kind of place every town needs and I plan on stopping again on my drive back to Georgia. If you're a Fort Mill local, you already know Hobo's. If you're just passing through on a long drive though, this is THE place you need. read more

We've been coming to Hobos since it opened. We went this last time and the service was horrible. Our waitress Lena was so inappropriate as she was only interested in trying to get noticed by one of the Men at our table ( he had a wedding ring on and didn't even give her the time of day.) She was relentless and made our family dinner uncomfortable. It was so rude and inappropriate and everyone noticed at our table. Very disappointed experience and will give you the pluses and the minuses. There were four of us for dinner. Very great menu. Burgers are their forte, plus salads, sandwiches, appetizers, wine and beer and some unusual milk shakes. Separate beer menu which had lots of craft beers. Wine by the glass had a number of whites and reds. All good. Burgers came on brioche or sourdough bread. At least 15 combos or you could build your own. All four of us ordered burgers, one built his own, the rest of us off the menu. The burgers were cooked to order and they did a good job on doing so. Will say that the shrinkage of the burgers was significant. My wife merrily ate her burger and suddenly realized that the meat had only occupied half of the bun and she was left with bread. So far so good: great menu and cooked nicely. But the sides were awful...so bad that we did not eat any of the onion crisps or french fries. They were soaked in oil and soggy. Must have taken training from the Ballantyne JJs to get those soggy, oily onion rings a perfect match. I was tempted to squeeze a handful, but showed the waiter the four piles of goo instead. He immediately offered to substitute and we chose the slaw, which was excellent. Course cabbage with a mildly vinegar mayo. Good crunch and flavor. The sides were just awful. If you do venture into Hobo's, avoid the fried onions and potatoes. If they could get control on the sides the place would certainly rate three stars and positive reviews. We were disappointed! We walked in and sat at bar on outside side. The female bartender said chairs were available inside instead, so we went in. She came and asked for our drink order. I told her mine and my husband a water. I was busy looking at menu and talking to a group of women next to us. Let me preface this by saying I used to love this restaurant. A series of mistakes had led me to stop frequenting them as often as I had. But tonight I had a takeout order and everything was a disappointment. The side was wrong, fine, it's happened before and I let it go. However half the fries were burnt, the other undercooked. Visited Pucker Butt hot pepper sore in Fort Mill and stopped for lunch at HoBo's. Nice friendly staff who seated us in the airy patio with partial view of old town. Nice mixed multigenerational crowd and fun 80s music was playing. Fans kept us cool on the patio. Noticed picnic tables in grassy area suitable for larger groups. Sunrise burger was ok, cooked as ordered and well-seasoned. Restrooms were clean and service was good, but employees didn't seem happy. Maybe just getting the day started. Suggest putting trash can closer to the door in restrooms so guests don't throw towels on restroom floor. read more

Sadly, we tried making a reservation prior to coming to eat with our family. Rudely the hostess answered and said that if we didn't have a party of 10 or more no reservations could be made and hung up. That was a bit rude, but I let it go. We arrived to Hobo's at 7:20 on Friday night, the hostess said it was about 20-35 minutes. It's currently 8:42pm and we are still waiting to get seated. We had a party of 7 (a nine year old and my husband's grandmother). They sat couple of different of people in front of us. I checked in with the hostess just looked and realized we waited over an hour now. I asked if they could add a table to the side of a booth. The manager came over and apologized to my family. Once we were seated, we order appetizers- grouper bites and their spud nachos. They were delicious. The manager took care of the appetizers, thankful for her making that situation better. Our food came quickly, the waiter was sweet and attentive, our food was delicious. I must be honest, if I could rate the wait and the hostess interaction I will give it a 1 star.
