Tried it. It was...ok. Had the waffle and chicken sandwich. The waffle was soggy throughoutout and really destroyed the meal, the chicken was great. Service was good but it felt so unorganized. Lots of people milling around. Food was getting handed out the closed kitchen door instead of a window which also seemed strange. Went here a few weeks ago with my husband. It was a busy Saturday and we had to wait a half hour, understandable. When we finally did get a table I felt like our table was in the way of everything as it was right near the patio door, bar and foot traffic. We waited and waited and waited and finally got to put in our drink order. We both got milkshakes which were very good but that was the only good thing. I ordered a burger and my husband ordered a chicken sandwich. So there we were waiting and waiting and waiting. It was really ridiculous how long we waited for such a mediocre meal. His meal came out and it took about 15 mins to ever see my meal, the waitress finally realized I was not served. My burger was cold and completely rare on the inside when I had asked for well done. From drinks to shakes to apps and the main course, everything was on point. The spiked milkshakes are a MUST. It has the perfect amount of alcohol without drowning in it. The buffalo shrimp was the perfect appetizer. The shrimp were huge! The best part was the chicken and waffles sandwich. This was my first one ever in my life and it exceeded every expectation I had. The service was great, too! Our waitress was beyond nice and gave us time to choose what we wanted without being overly attached. She has the perfect timing thing down pat. I will say, the food was absolutely amazing. Me and my girlfriend went a few months back. One of the best burger places in town taste wise. Sadly, its not the food that will stop us from coming back again. It was the environment , i am in an inter-racial relationship. And me and my girlfriend wete extremely uncomfortable. Many of the employees were nice. But the surrounding patrons and some staff proceeded to stare at us multiple times. One person at the bar wpuld go out his way an stare at us. First time at Hobos and I have to say we really enjoyed it! Where else can I get a burger with grilled cheese buns? We went on Monday evening around 5pm and it was quiet and there was plenty of seating. The server was polite and friendly. The fried green tomatoes were good but the breading was pretty bland. I was not impressed by anything. Our waiter was nice, but that's about it. WATCH YOUR TAB. They tried to over charge me for our beer - menu said $3 and they charged $3.25. The manager corrected, but how many people have not noticed? Surround-sound was very loud at lunch and the food was forgettable. This place is awesome. Good burgers, cold drinks, comfortable casual atmosphere. It's a good place to take just about anybody. They even have a couple vegetarian options. The only downside is often when I come here the relaxed atmosphere often leads parents to go slack on their parenting so the often let their children run wild around the dining area and on the green adjacent to the restaurant, also this restaurant / bar closes a little too early for my liking. Went in for lunch today around 3 pm. Not super busy, lots of people working. Drinks took 15 minutes. Food was good but the place was swarming with flies. I can handle a fly or three but it was unreal. Maybe you need fans at the doors and the open windows ? They should really try something to alleviate the huge number if flies. The entire place did not look clean and the last straw was the filthy women's restroom. Walked in and walked back out. My husband said the mens room was clean. All the glass was dirty too. The front door was so greasy and the hostess just standing there. Maybe clean the door between seating customers. No problems with the food but having worked in several restaurants, I know that a dead fly in a drink is inevitable when you have that many flies. This is in response to the owners response: 8 gave eaten in plenty of open restaurants and there are a lot if things toy can do about the flies but you aren't doing ANYTHING. Went for a weekend lunch, beautiful day for eating on the covered deck. The service was excellent, good tea and very interesting drink menu. The reason for the visit, and their claim to fame the simple hamburger, was in short disappointing. The hamburger, specifically the sunrise burger, was a well portioned beef patty, topped with egg, bacon, pickles, etc, should have been a home run in terms if burgers, beautiful presentation, by anyone's standards. However the medium burger was as dry as toast, not one bit juicy, not a drop. Now some would say, "hey that's healthier, less fat", to them I say, " shut ya mouth, if I want healthy I would have ordered a salad", I came to eat a sloppy, juicy hamburger. If it were not for the service it would have been a 2 star, great location, great service, not so much to say positive concerning the hamburger. read more

Walked in tonight and was told outside seating was reserved. My wife and I settled on a table inside, waited 15 minutes nobody came over. Multiple waitresses walked right by us, host was a young kid who ignored us after he seated us and could see we weren't being served. Writing this on behalf of some family members who were here the night of the Strawberry Festival there in Fort Mill. To my understanding, a waitress stated "We serve our onion rings room temperature." Well, I happen to be a nursing major and understand the implications of that policy. With that being said, I am not too keen on the FDA standards specifically, however I do feel like that is not the best thing to do, as many people could get sick by sticking with that policy. This matter should be taken into consideration, and I'm concerned for the customers and that is why I am writing this. I would just appreciate someone to look into this. Thank you! read more

Went to Hobos tonight on their first Friday night open. Had a little wait but the weather was pleasant I'd suggest some outside benches for the waiting folks.Once seated our order was taken quickly and both drinks and bar selections came out quickly. The appetizers and main courses were slow in arriving but,the kitchen was overwhelmed and they were putting out food as quickly as possible. Once served the burgers were heavenly and the fries were perfect.The waitstaff was attentive and kept our glasses full and checked back frequently. All in all we enjoyed our meal and will return again ... I think we need to summon Aladdin because this is a diamond in the rough. I think the name may deter some, but I am a believer. After eating Martin's Melt, I am checking my calendar for the next time I can drive back down to this restaurant. This burger was on a sourdough bread and the sauteed mushrooms on top of my burger patty were fantastic.The burger itself had the perfect char, perfect thickness, and perfect seasoning. Did I mention it was perfect? I don't know whether a true hobo was cooking my meals (so if it was a sweaty sock for seasoning, cool!) but I really don't care because it was so delicious that they could tell me I had to sleep on the side of the road that night and I would be fine with it. The food was THAT good. I wouldn't say that this is some mind-blowing earth-shattering restaurant, but it was definitely something noteworthy in the context of burgers. I also had the honor of trying fried pimento cheese bites which, girl, you have not yet lived until you have eaten fried pimento cheese. Mozzarella sticks, watch out! This is like cheese sticks with a makeover. The inside of the restaurant was perfect: exposed brick, aluminum tiled ceilings, and wooden floors--my kind of place! The service was top notch. Our drinks were always filled and the food was so delicious. The price point is something I can live with, especially for the quality of food that they have. Why they don't have 5 stars in beyond me. They have drink specials every night, and they even have adult milkshakes (sounds like the perfect summer treat, am I right?) Take a chance at Hobos; it's your safest bet. read more

Being from Ft. Mill we welcomed a new eatery, but after trying Hobo's twice now we are sadly disappointed in both service, food and atmosphere. My wife and I both come from a food service background, so we realize that new restaurants have to work out the bugs, but Hobo's has some monstrous kinks to overcome! The bar seems to be the focal point and seems to run smoothly, but the restaurant part is horrible. Our first visit we had to wait for 45 minutes for a table only to be totally ignored by all the waitresses! After 15 additional minutes I went up to the hostess and asked how long it was going to take to get a glass of water. Ten minutes later a waitress took our order, ten minutes more we got drinks...and a half hour later we finally got food. That's a LONG wait for a burger and fries. By the way...their fries are the worst I have EVER tasted...but, my wife says the buffalo chicken breast sandwich was excellent. Our second visit they were far less busy, so we had hopes of better service and speed of food delivery. Our waitress was prompt and very professional, but the kitchen must have been moving in slow motion because at the 45 minute mark we still had not got a burger w/pasta salad and a buffalo chicken breast sandwich w/chips! Again I complained to the hostess who apologized profusely and ultimately agreed to comp our meal...which took another 10 minutes to get tabled! And to make matters worse...when I got to the middle of my burger, it was hollow. Yes, a big hunk of the meat was missing! One final observation...FLIES!! The bar has two huge open windows onto the patio, and I do mean OPEN. So, there are four doors constantly opening and closing and these two gaping openings that invite flies by the hundreds! I'm amazed that the health department approved this design, but constantly shooing flies off the food you had to wait 45 minutes for isn't cool! I sincerely hope Hobo's can get their act together because downtown Fort Mill could really use a place like this....but they have a LONG way to go!! P.S. Hands down best burgers in the greater Charlotte region. Don't sleep on the pimento cheese, best as a fritter with the yummy tomato jam. If you have a large group, 5+, make sure you get the pig chips! Beer menu changes daily, and sometimes more than once. If you're looking for a fun atmosphere this is your place.
