This review for Coco is long overdue but wanted to thank her for her amazing customer service going above and beyond with her patience, kindness and excellent Christmas wrapping skills for the many gifts I purchased. She made Christmas shopping a very magical and pleasant experience from helping me find the right sizes, ringing me up, answering my questions and wrapping the items with so much care. Many other staff were also so warm and welcoming-I'll need to get their names as well. The supervisor is also so incredible to work with- extremely helpful, knowledgeable about the brand, and is passionate about coming in and what she does. Super cute store, nice selection and great service...employees very welcoming, and friendly

Hobie feels like a tourist trap, not a local surf shop. Prices on "budget" tees with Hobie artwork were several times higher than the same blanks without the logo, and even Patagonia items were tagged above the brand's own website. The overall vibe was unwelcoming if you didn't fit a certain look, which made the whole experience feel pretty scammy and exclusionary. read more

Great surf shop for apparel, accessories, decor, surfboards, etc. I haven't bought a surfboard or decor here, but I have gotten clothes and accessories. They aren't cheap, but not expensive. Seems to be good quality items, too. Customer service has always been good. There is another location in Dana Point they can call if you need an item they don't have. Or you could check their website. Parking is a little tricky here since it's on Del Mar Street, and it is a pretty busy street with all the shops and restaurants. Enjoyed shopping. They carried Vuori, levis, Brixton, salty, sanO, Hobie more. Had a great kids section with books, swim wear/gear. They cater to the whole family. They carry the typical sandals and suits for the whole family but also higher end towels and clothing local brands. Good hanging art didn't go unnoticed. Store was neat and clean even. There are two Hobie Sports stores within a few miles of each other though I am not sure why. This location is the larger of the two with the other located at 151 Avenida Del Mar. With two locations in San Clemente, Hobie Sports it trying to attract people that drive by as well as those that decide to walk and shop on Del Mar Ave. This corner shop is larger than the second location further down the street, and has a larger product selection. While the store has a hometown feel, they are really lacking in variety and market pricing. If you want to buy a leash, there are two lesser know brands to select from. Wax? Same deal. This is a smaller "either or" type of store. The staff is friendly and if you're not looking for something specific, this is the place for you. read more

Than another young girl came up and asked me what I was looking for as the shorts available were to big for my kid. What bull shit is this place. So we walk-in today and the girl who greats us is friendly and says "ALL" clothes today is 40 percent off. so I find a clothes beach cover up that is $70.00 and go to pay for it when the girl at the register says oh this isn't and yes it's clothes is not 40 percent then she ask her look like 21 year old manager and he too says no the. COver up " clothing is not 4o percent off. Really what the hell 70 for a cover up with 40 percent off it's still expensive but I was happy to buy it until this poor business transaction happen. Stopped in to switch out a scarf I had gotten for a different color, the staff was very welcoming. The manager was extremely helpful and a perfect example of great customer service. They didn't have the color I wanted at the SC store so she called the DP store and found what I was looking for. She could easily have said they didn't have any other colors and been over it, but she didn't. I appreciate that very much. The store is clean and bright, a little pricy but it's all good quality stuff so you get what you pay for. I'll be going in again soon because I saw a few things I have to have :) read more

Went in to buy a pair of Sanuk beach shoes. The first cashier that I spoke to was rather nice. Then they said they didn't accept Paypal as a payment method. Afterwards when I sat down on a bench in their store to exchange some Bitcoin to fiat on my phone the manager started complaining and basically trying to kick me out of their excuse for a shop. I've been living in Bali for about two years before coming to California and I must say that the way some people behave in these here western parts is just sad. A lot of people are rude and greedy to the point of ridicule. In the east I have never seen a situation when a friendly customer is looking to buy something in a local store and the store manager or owner would be impolite to them, moreover trying to push them out the door when they are spending their valuable time to comply to what their store accepts as a payment method. Paypal has been on the market for more than a decade and a half, it's an international payment method. It's surprisingly absurd that in a state that claims to be on the forefront of high-tech innovations the vast majority of retail locations do not even accept Paypal in the year 2015, not to mention Bitcoin of course. They probably accept Bitcoin in more retail stores and cafes in Kerobokan, rather than in the greater Los Angeles area read more
