This store is the first Hobby Lobby I've been into and I had a really great experience. Three associates helped show me where I could find different types of wood logs throughout the massive store. The third associate, Belinda, went above and beyond to help me find what I was looking for by checking the back storeroom for me and asking me how many of the item I needed. Five minutes later, she came back with arms full of the wood logs I was looking for! She was so helpful and I had a great experience in the store because of her and the helpful of the other team members. I look forward to going back. read more

Finally visited this business on 11/12/24, as I was looking for sea glass for a fun craft night with my girlfriends. It was busy as all Xmas decorations were 40% off at the time. I had asked an associate where the sea glass was and she had pointed to a section of decorative beach items, I should have asked specifically for crafts and found them myself in the Mosaic tiles, gems section. They were currently having a sale on all mosaics, stones, etc. 40% off. They did have a cool selection on tiles/stones, unfortunately for me I got there a little to late as the lady already perusing the aisle had taken all the sea glass, but I did find some other cool stuff like mosaic tiles and other stones to use, that I had not even been aware of. Once ready to check out, the lines were super long due to the Xmas sales that were going on. I have to give props to the cashier who gave me a small discount for waiting so long. FYI I did visit again during my lunch after this visit and the lines were long again and left as I knew it would take longer than I had time for on my lunch break. If I need more stones/tiles again, I will definitely hit them up. read more

The service at this Hobby Lobby is still as poor as it ever was and that's sad. There were seven people in one line, 6 people in another line and the line we were in was so slow because of a customer. When we asked if another register could be opened, one of the employee said there were two open already. After waiting another seven minutes with no movement in the line, we asked that same employee again, and she said she would relay our messages to the manager, who was standing off to the side Doing nothing. When the employee went to the manager, the manager started laughing, and the other employee walked away, and everyone in line was watching the Manager laugh and after another six minutes of her, doing nothing, the employee that we asked if another register could be opened was forced to open a third register with the manager, standing with her still laughing about everyone's wait time. Three of the people in one line, including us, we're getting ready to leave our things in the basket and walk out. Two people in the other line, also voiced the same concern while someone else in the other line stated that it was still as bad as it ever was. I thought that would be the best title for this review. The manager should never have been laughing at the long lines and waited for six minutes before doing anything as she watched the entire thing and never moved from her spot. Maybe if she enjoyed her job or maybe found another one customers at this hobby lobby would be happier. read more

Been here a couple times before, but today I came to literally just grab a snack LOL. They have a pretty nice selection of sweets and snacks right by the checkout lanes. I liked the semi-unusual variety of treats. The lines were super slow for there to be 3 cashiers, but it could've been the big loads of the customers. Love this Hobby Lobby location! The parking lot is huge, though it always seems to be full. The employees are always incredibly nice and helpful and they are everywhere, so it's never tough to find someone when you need help. This time of year, this store is absolutely packed. Though for good reason. They always have insane sales during the holidays and their items are high quality. I often come here for crafting items, of which they have a plethora of choices. Though they also have all kinds of home goods items, household decorations, and all kinds of gift ideas. My only qualm with this particular location is the lines. On any given day, especially during the holidays, the checkout lines are so ridiculously long. The employees are very, very friendly, but there is not a great sense of urgency here. It is a bit overwhelming and discouraging when you walk in for something small, only to be immediately confronted with insanely long lines. Be sure to build time into your visit for waiting in line, but overall this is a great spot! read more

This place is a pretty big location in a shopping center along Virginia Beach Blvd. To start off, this place is closed on Sundays, so don't attempt to come in on that day of the week. The place as seen from the outside is quite clean and well maintained. This place is primarily for home decor items. They do have some items you can find at Michael's or AC Moore, but not to the extent of the selections available elsewhere. They have a fairly good selection of fabrics and accessories. One thing that I noticed right away when being in here is that the pricing is higher for the same or similar items elsewhere. Most of the time, you can go to their website on your phone and get a code for 40% one regular priced item (if you purchase more than one regular priced item, the coupon is applied to the highest priced item). They have some hobby type items available as well, but most of them are pretty much done out the door, so there's no building or much work for the consumer. Overall, this is a hybrid hobby store with some arts and crafts. This place is just okay. The pricing tends to be higher, which limits my want to visit this place very often. My biggest advice is to first do your homework on pricing from multiple places before getting something here. read more

This place is great! There is everything you could possibly want in this store. It seemed like a ton of sales 50% off. I had my little one with me so I was able to bribe him with a toy if he'd just behave for a little while, while mommy "gets the things she needs." I was able to stock up on Valentines trinkets for his school party, some random laundry room decor, and some pens for my new hobby "bullet journaling." I believe their prices are substantially less expensive than Michael's. Also, their store is pretty large. I have to drive a bit to get here, but it's completely worth it! I'll just start by saying, I LOVE HOBBY LOBBY! I am still partial to and prefer the one in Short Pump/Richmond though (probably because it took my Hobby Lobby virginity, haha.) This one is great too - it has everything - definitely something for everyone! Home and holiday decor, scrapbook & paper goods section, wooden section, ceramics, paints/canvases, jewelry section, & even wedding goods! My only two complaints are: that I wish parking was better. (I guess because of how busy this place and shopping center is, it is to be expected - hard time finding parking.) I suggest you don't come on a Saturday. Oh but they are closed every Sunday! In my opinion, the best times to come here are during the weekdays in the day time, or a bit later in the evening. I also wish that they would upgrade their check out system! The Richmond one has a scanning system which makes for way faster and more efficient check-out, & it automatically has things scanned at sale price (if on sale that week.) Here, at this one, the cashiers have to type in the price of each item you purchase, and manually apply the sale price/percentage off. Cumbersome & time consuming. I do suggest that if you know you'll be a "regular" at HL, that you download the app - you'll always know what's on sale for the week, and there's an eternal "40% off one regular priced item" coupon. As I said about the Short Pump one, Hobby Lobby is like AC Moore, Michael's, Joanne's, Homegoods, & Kirklands had an orgy, got pregnant, and their BIG baby is this place. I drive a distance to shop here, but I feel like I can spend hours here looking at the cute canvases with inspirational quotes, and listen to the soft tunes playing, while I get lost in the moment. They have many accent decors that can compliment any house. Beware the sale signs - read them carefully - "half off wall frames" doesn't actually mean ALL wall frames and the sign doesn't make note of the exceptions - sound like a BAIT and SWITCH? When I got to the register, after being rung up, the manager approached saying the wall frames I was about to purchase were exempt from the sale and admitted that indeed there had been many previous complaints about the sloppy wording of their sale signage. Hobby Lobby is like the Target of craft stores. You look around for hours and leave with stuff you don't need! They already have Halloween/fall and Christmas stuff out which is amazeballs!!! They always have a 40% off one item coupon on the app which you can use once per day, but if there are multiple stores in your area you can go to all of them on the same day. Heck yeah! Plus most of their stuff is on sale anyway, so you can't lose. Don't forget they are CLOSED on Sunday! I've forgotten before and fell like a dumb***. Duh! After going to Michaels and Hobby Lobby to get pricing on customer framing, I decided to get my framing done at Hobby Lobby. The price compared to Michaels was over $100 difference. The quality of the frame was comparable also. In addition, I was able to use an additional 40% off on a portion of the frame even after the initial custom frame savings. Furthermore, while offering savings on custom framing they also have many nick nacks, frames, home decor, crafts, art supplies etc. my wife especially loves the selection of scrapbooking materials. omigerrrdddddddddddd I've been missing out! A few coworkers have told me on some different occasions to stop in here when looking for random things like photo frames, paper products, and lampshades but I haven't for a myriad of reasons. Tonight I was at work late and was on this side of town to run a few other errands so since I was already on this side of town - it was late and not crowded - and I needed a 5x7 frame - I stopped in. There was only 15 minutes before closing so I literally only had enough time to walk through the frames and a few other aisles but it was enough for me to understand that this is a mecca of trinkets, decorative accents, craft supplies, home decor, and random fun eclectic pieces. I saw tons of picture frames, wall art, fabric, decorative accents, trinkets (like glass hourglasses and gold geometric accents) and I probably saw 15% of the store. I'll be back for sure - I interacted with two employees - one that I asked where frames were when I first came in - and another who checked me out - and both were friendly and polite. read more

I had a wonderful time shopping at Hobby Lobby. It is great that they can give Michael's some competition. There were so many Christmas items at half price and I think I must have bought half of them. There were things I really wanted but had to leave behind because the lines were getting long and we were getting a little tired. Our cashier was efficient and courteous, so no complaints there. The sale was great, so I will be watching and hoping that there is another one before Christmas. I went online today and was sorry that the online shopping was kind of boring. The lines at this place are consistently ridiculous. Additional staff are always watching and "managing". The whole punching in items individually is quite an ancient concept. I understand that this is a "hobby" shop, but I shop here on a regular basis for work, and am on the clock... But nobody really seems to care about that. Big time lover of Hobby Lobby. It's a huge store with just about anything you would need for you're crafts, hobbies, or projects. They have a convenient app, that normally has a coupon. When I was there on a Wednesday afternoon there seemed to be plenty of staff throughout the store, everyone was very nice and asked if I needed any help. Rude cashiers!!! They all move at a snail's pace and think you have the entire day to check out. Hobby Lobby #622 is the reason that people shop online now. The workers are never helpful, they're always standing around more than actually doing anything and the managers are a joke. I attempted to purchase an item for the Samaritan Purse shoebox program (holiday charity) and brought my kid to pick something, as I was teaching about the importance of giving. They had their own money they had given me to make this purchase they were donating and it was supposed to be a nice, quick outing. The clerk, Merejilda, decided she couldn't show a bit of professionalism and address me properly. She mumbled something into her mask after having us awkwardly stand there while she wasn't ringing anything up. I had no idea what she had mumbled and I said, "Sorry I don't know what you said." Most people would be understanding, especially considering the mask situation and just repeat themselves, but not Merejilda. She made a big production about calling up the manager. I asked if I needed to go find another product to ring up, as she was having an issue not knowing how to ring it up. She ignored me and instead, called for the manager a second time. All while other customers were patiently waiting behind me. Finally, this slow moving manager takes her sweet time and comes up to the counter and basically decides she can't fix the situation and would have to go to the back and find another item. I had already offered to do that several minutes prior and I simply said that I would bring another one up. Guess what the manager said? "Wow, she's a friendly one." She said that to the clerk. When I got back with the item, I guess the clerk didn't think I had heard their exchange. She didn't even pause to take my coupon and I had to say something, even though I had said, "I do have a coupon." She responds in her infamous rude nasty voice, "We don't ask for coupons!" She yelled at me, I guess making fun of me for not hearing her previously. It was very embarrassing to be barked at like that and her rolling her eyes at me, when I was trying to do a good thing in there you know. The manager was something else...she was a short, larger woman with reddish brown hair and an unfriendly demeanor all together. I wish I had learned her name, but she was too busy talking about me, the customer, to introduce herself! This whole exchange has made me reconsider Hobby Lobby all together. I really have been unimpressed with the ridiculous long lines for people trying to get one or two items. I was already tired of the slower than s*** cashiers who seemingly hate their jobs and wished they had went back to school or something. I have shopped here in past with no problems but today was not the same. I had to exchange some items and when I went to the manager on front end explained go get it and we will handle all at the registers. Sounds easy? I got what I needed and then went to the front end where there was 2 lanes open and lines backed up 10 deep. When it came to my turn the cashier told me I was in the wrong lane. I told her I was not told I had to into specific lanes. The lane I was told I had to get in was backed up twice as long. The cashier called front end manager she said I would have to get in another lane and walked away. I was emabarased by all this.
