This is a great location and of course it supports the Children's Hospital Of The Kings Daughters. It is more of a clothing location than anything furniture related. You can also find some housewares there, but it is a rather small building but busy location so you can find great options there as they are inventory rolls over pretty quickly. My daughter and I like to browse in thrift shops. You're never quite sure what you'll find, and we like to support both good causes and sustainable living. This shop supports the Children's Hospital of King's Daughters, the highly ranked non-for-profit pediatric teaching hospital based in Norfolk. The shop is clean and well-organized, and staff were both friendly and helpful. Parking is plentiful. There was a wide variety of products -- from Easter decorations (1/2 off the day before Easter), to kitchenware, to games and jigsaw puzzles, and even a few wedding dresses! While we weren't intending to buy any clothes, we decided to check out the dresses, and ended up buying a total of 9 of them! Three of them were "new with tags"; one was a high-end brand. The dresses ranged in price from $3.99-$9.99, with most being $6.99. We also got a spring wreath ($2.98) and a mesh pan for steaming vegetables over a campfire ($4.98). Quite a haul for under $75 (including VA's 6% tax). The store gladly accepts donations, and you'll be offered the opportunity to "top up" your receipt to the nearest dollar. (Please do so; this is for a great cause!) I didn't give 5-stars for a few reasons. Most importantly, there is no dressing room, and the store has a no-returns, no-refunds policy so you're taking a chance when you purchase clothing. I lucked out on my purchases, but my daughter is questioning the fit on two of her dresses. Also, all of the sizes are mixed up on the racks, so it's time-consuming to go through the plentiful selections. This is my personal go-to thrift store in the area. I frequently am searching for items to add to my closet for work and this particular CHKD tends to have the styles I like. I'd say they are averagely priced for a thrift store. Some items are slightly marked up but overall far majority are within the range of $3-8. There's a slight markup for some brands and items that are NWTs but that's to be expected. The store doesn't feel cramped, it's easy to maneuver a buggy around. And it feels clean, which is a huge plus. I wish they wouldn't write with sharpie on the bottom of the shoes, I don't need anyone knowing how much I spend on items haha! I do like that they have discount days. Wish they had a discount day for educators and social workers though! The men's selection is on the smaller side compared to other places so I don't find much for my partner there but I'm happy with what I find for myself! read more

IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO stars I would. Totally inappropriate business behavior. Presumably passed judgement on me and declined me the right to purchase an item stating it had to be priced and I could come back tomorrow if it was still here. Then let another person purchase that same item not ten minutes after I had asked to purchase it. There store policy is that any item without a price HAS to be taken to the store room to be priced- they priced the item ON THE SPOT for the other customer. I asked an employee to assist me and that I had requested the item and someone else was buying it- she said there was nothing she could do. I will NEVER come back to this poorly managed store. They employees all gossiped and talked about me until I left- after not purchasing anything from my full cart. RUDE RUDE RUDE What a shame read more

This thrift store is in the Bayside area off Shore Dr. and has only been open for a little over a year. It was previously a Hollywood Video. Can you find a brick and mortar video store anymore by the way? Today I did a drop off of a lot of clothes cleared out in both kids closets to get ready for Fall/Winter. Make sure you ask them for a receipt for tax purposes. The store itself is huge and has a packed inventory of not only children's clothes, but adult. Also you will find various items from golf clubs to baby strollers. If you liked that must awkward smell you get from thrift stores your in the wrong place. Our family has been a long time supporter of CHKD and this is an easy way to support children in our local area. read more

This is one of the few CHKDs that as a thrifter I will frequent. They always have good seasonal finds as well as houseware products. A good collection of DVDs & books too. The staff are always nice and the prices are reasonable on their products. read more

Love this store. They are so organized and mostly polite. Well everyone but this one elderly lady named Joanne...sheesh...she's a rude one for sure. If i was a betting man i would say she is ready for retirement #2. Aside from that, they have great items to include brand new ones with the original tags attached. This store also has an off odor, like there's a plumbing issue, because it smells like poop which is funny because that's exactly how I'd describe their customer service. Two thumbs down. One of the few CHKD's in my location that has quite a fair variety of items. Excellent book selection, tons of shoes, great quality clothing, and great staff. We've found many items here, prior to moving in, to make our home just a little more cozy. Especially love the Monday Military Discount and Tuesday 25% off the whole store! read more

found great deals and pretty good prices. things were in good condition and not crappy there. it's kind of organized too.

Lots of kids, juniors, and misses clothing items to choose from but they are lacking in the men's section. I'd like to see more for men in dress shirts, slacks, shorts, swim wear, tees in are larger range of sizes. I had a difficult time locating the sizes I needed. I was able to purchase plenty for the little ones and my tween but I walked away with nothing from the men's section. I didn't have much time to look around and I plan on returning. The staff were very friendly and helpful and seemed very happy to be there. The atmosphere was quite pleasant. read more

Great store. Since this is relatively new. A lot of people don't know this store. It was an old video store before and I am so happy they opened up. Now I have place close by to take my unwanted toys and old clothes and look for other interesting stuff from all over. This facility mislead me twice during 1 transaction. I had a box of cards that were clearly marked 1.00. I was charged 2.98. I asked why I was charged that price and they said they had forgotten to remove the cheaper price. So I declined buying the box of cards. Even though it was classic bait and switch. Second item was a pair of curtains. They were obviously a pair, and they were individually marked 3.98 each. I asked the sales girl if they were a pair of curtains and she said that they were. And that the tags were marked for inventory control but they were a pair. I paid for my items, asked again could I buy the box of cards as they were advertised and a black woman that was the manager said no. I went out to my vehicle, looked at my receipt and saw sure enough i was charged double for the curtains. I went back inside with my bag and explained what had happened with the double charge. The supervisor told the cashier (little white girl named Brittany) that she should be more careful about what she said to customers, and then did nothing to resolve my complaint. I waited and it was obvious that she had decided to ignore me. So I said that was 2 items in 1 transaction that I now mislead on and that even though this was a charity thrift store that honesty was expected. So I requested the sales girls name...Brittany....then requested the supervisor name, and that lady refused to give it to me said she wasn't the one to mislead me. So here I am until I call tomorrow their headquarters. If your going to operate like a store, then have policies in place like if there are 2 prices on something you are given as a consumer the lower price.( It was quite obvious that i had not tampered with the price tag.) Like any other store would do. And if a cashier says something, the store should keep that cashiers word. Very disappointing. There are other thrift stores for the same organization that are honest. And those will be the ones I chose to visit. read more
