This was such an excellent day out for us. My friend met up for a little shopping excursion and we were able to find so many treasures. This location has a lot of really nice clothes so take your time and go through finding the things that you want. We found several items that were name brand with tag still on and even the things that were obviously vintage were in very good shape. Not a lot of furniture so if that's what you're looking for maybe be a different DAV. They did have some smaller items, but I just wouldn't come here again looking for furniture options. That being said it was a great location and I did find some home items, including a beautiful cut glass pitcher to use for water on my night table. Supporting disabled American veterans is a great way to reduce your Eco footprint and give back to your community read more

Requested a donation pickup up of a couch and an oven. Both still in perfect working order, the leather couch had a 1"×1" rip in it and the oven was cleaned but not spotless so they did not want the donation. As a disabled veteran myself I will never donate to them again. Sounds more like they are lazy and can't be bothered with anything unless it's new and unused. read more

This DAV thrift store has a variety of merchandise. It's well organized. Donations are accepted outside of the store. There are several donation bins for after hours drop off. read more

I should have really went somewhere else because the reviews I read left sub par ratings. I agree with the reviews from everyone. There is nothing spectacular about the items in the store. Not to mention it's kind of difficult to get to if you're on the opposite side of the road. I have donated clothes here on more than one occasion, but now i've shopped here as well. I've received much better selections from other thrift stores. I more than likely will not shop here again. I ended up only getting two items. One of which was workout shorts that still had the tags on them. The other item was a blazer. The prices wasn't as low as they are at other thrift stores, maybe because this store supports veterans. Either way I have no regrets but I wish they had better stuff. read more

DAV Thrift Store - Thrift Stores Near Me - Virginia Beach, Virginia

The staff here is always kind and cheerful. Due to Covid-19 the dressing rooms are closed. Making it really difficult to try anything on. And I have gone to thrift stores all my life. Ya have to try it in before you buy it. Sizes vary a lot. Their niknak section is hit or miss but at least they have pretty good prices. I check it out every time. One year in July I got tons of Christmas stuff. And like I said good prices. The other thing that is a turn off. They use to be responsibly priced on clothes but ever sense Salvation Army thrift left they went up in their prices. Leggings use to be like 2 or 3 bucks. Now I see them 7 or 8. That is a big jump I know this is not their issue but just want to warn about getting in and out of the parking lot. Such a busy street. I would bring them up to a 4 star if they go back to better prices and open the fitting rooms read more

I stopped in here while on vacation in Virginia Beach. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. They have a convenient parking lot. As soon as I got out of the car I noticed a big selection of bicycles. Nice bikes. They also had a lot of beach items right as you enter the store. I was greeted as soon as I stepped inside by an employee marking prices down. The store was clean an neat. The shelves and racks were organized. The merchandise was nice. I appreciate the DAV organization and like supporting them. I'm glad I stopped in. I wish we had this store back home. read more

INSANE prices, name brand things cost more than they do the consignment stores in the area. You will see some clothes priced at $50-$100 here. If it has tags on it, expect to pay super high prices, even if it's target/Walmart. I saw something with a name brand here and it had a noticeable stain and wasn't in great condition and they were asking more for it than it goes for on poshmark. I won't buy here and support this insanity. I love thrifting and they have nice things here, but I cannot afford the price tag for DONATED items. read more

So overpriced! A wine glass is $1.98. We can go to the dollar tree and buy a new one for $1.25. A reasonable price at a thrift store should be about $.50. The purpose is supposed to be to sell stuff at a reasonable price, not price yourself higher than a dollar tree. Everything I picked up was the price left without buying anything because I might as well just go to dollar tree or Family Dollar and buy stuff. read more

A great variety of good quality clothing. However, there is NO FITTING ROOM. There is no way I can buy with confidence without trying stuff on, personally. Still, I bought a sweater and a top that were both like new and great prices. And I am happy to support the DAV. read more

This is a well-kept and clean thrift store. The parking lot is large and it is centrally located off General Booth Blvd by Dam Neck - nearly across from the Chick-Fil-A in that area. Plenty of parking and friendly cashiers greet you upon entry. It is well-lit, well organized, and clearly marked inside so you can find a specific section of items if you are looking for children's clothes, shoes, furniture, household goods, games, etc. We had a good time roaming around looking at items and found a few really cool things we hadn't seen before during a trip last night on the way to dinner. read more

The only thing this store is useful for is the silverware I buy for spoon rings so make. All the employees besides Donna looked miserable and not willing to help. The store is a little run down and somewhat organized in the clothes but completely just chaos elsewhere. You have to use ID to pay with card which I was told is pretty common, been to virginia many many many years in a row not once have I encountered having to use ID. All I had was my debit card and hotel key, nothing else so they would've had to have me just not purchase anything if I didn't have someone else with me. Reminder this is only posted at registers, so I would've just wasted a half an hour shopping to not even pay. Weird store would recommend shopping elsewhere. read more

I'm disappointed. They closed the dressing rooms, covered them with book shelves. I don't buy clothing unless I can try it on and everything is final sale ofcourse. How is this fair? Used to love DAV :( read more

Nice, spacious parking lot! This location has a good variety of items ranging from clothing to household, even creep doll collections. I definitely found some good deals, but nothing I absolutely had to have. The employees are kind and very welcoming with conversation. Pricing was reasonable. Fitting rooms are also available! read more

My favorite thrift store to visit in Virginia Beach! There is always a great selection, and everything is well organized and fairly priced. Employees are always friendly and helpful, going the extra mile to carefully bag and wrap breakable items without even asking! read more

I've been to this store in the past and wasn't super intrigued by anything, but with my most recent visit my mind has changed on this store . While the variety of thrift stores depend on the donations the way the thrift store lays everything out is what means the most to me . Everything I went in look looking for I found . The only thing I don't like about this store is the entry is definitely not handicap friendly they clutter a bunch of stuff on display when you walk in and it's hard to bring a stroller in the two doors to enter . I also find it difficult to make a long trip here with two children when the bathroom isn't open because of "Covid" overall I still give this thrift store 5 stars for variety , organization, and variety! read more

This thrift store is awesome! We visit each year for our annual beach vacation and enjoy this store very much; they have a good selection!

I made the mistake of suggesting thrifting to my daughter and off we went to DAV. It was full of discarded household items, book, clothing and crafts. I will say I am not a thrift store fan but it was well organized and pricing seemed fair. Items which lingered where marked down quickly. Sales (all) are final, so no changing your mind on those hand me down clothes! The merchandise was kept in a tidy fashion. Clothes are sized and the racks were neat and well organized by item. Cashiers were friendly and they opened up new lines immediately so wait was minimal. They offer select discounts to Veterans and Active Military. Bathrooms are locked BTW. Happy thrifting. read more

While staying in Cape Charles recently we ventured over the bay to check out their thrift scene as CC was sorely lacking. Dav was the first one on our list. Conveniently located on a main road the location was perfect as we also needed to get dinner and the options nearby were plentiful. The thrift store was set up like any other, and no better or worse for organization. Clothes filled the majority of the space which wasn't huge but was ample in size. What impressed me most was their shoe selection, with most appearing like they've never been worn. Ladies clothing was also good quality and the organization was on point with sizing. I didn't see any that was out of place. During my shopping several employees were on the floor pulling and marking down clothing items even more. I scored a few great pieces; 2 pairs of shorts and a brand name pair of jeans with embroidery down the side (like new) for around $16. I didn't see anything that was ripped, stained, or worn too bad for resale. Prices were in line with thrift stores back home. While they did have some furniture pieces piled in the corner their condition wasn't as good as the clothing and that area overall seemed cluttered. Outside there was a hodgepodge of items; sleds, bikes, larger toys, etc which did give off a dumpy appearance. They also have a double entrance door (one door opens to a little "lobby" and another door leads to the store) which was cluttered with items for sale. I know they were trying to display these items in a decorative fashion but they were in the way and an eyesore. Displays overall were lacking. Dressing rooms and the rest rooms are locked at all times and you need to hunt someone down for the key. The dressing room limit is 3 items and it seemed to be enforced. One lone cashier at the register the day I was there but plenty on the floor doing markdowns. Definitely worth another visit! read more

I enjoyed my visit the staff was very nice and polite :) Good Bargains:) I plan to go back :) Was GREAT EXPERIENCE :) I enjoyed it thoroughly :) read more

- Overpriced - Only 1 Military Discount per month - No Returns This is the highest priced thrift store in the area and honestly higher priced than retail on some items. I've seen used products in fair condition priced higher than the equivalent new item in stores. One example is a used older model Playstation 4 selling for $200 when this model retails for $199 (or less) Secondly for being a thrift shop dedicated to disabled veterans, their appreciation for the military is scarce. One day a month they offer a 20% discount for the military. CHKD offers a 25% discount once a week. Additionally, their inflated prices also have an added risk as everything is "as-is" in the store with an absolute policy of "no returns." I used to like this chain but something happened at some point to change their policies. I've even had a few instances where they were annoyed with the amount of donations I had. Will not be shopping here again. read more

DAV Thrift Store - Cost $5.96 new but they charge $6.98?? - Thrift Stores Near Me - Virginia Beach, Virginia

I had several pieces of quality furniture to donate. I was told from DAV donation coordinator that the pickup driver will be at my house at 3pm. He showed up 12:30 pm and was very nasty and angry that I didn't have the items outside. He was very nasty and refused to allow me to get the items outside which were right inside the door. Never will call them for anything read more

Came while on a quick weekend trip. Excellent selection and very clean. I found a brand new pair of shoes for a reasonable price and my husband purchased several books. Great place! read more

Too expensive. You can buy the dishes brand new at the dollar tree for less than they sell them at DAV. They need to come down on their prices. read more

They have the BEST of everything out of any thrift store I've been to in the Hampton roads area. They have a lot of clothes and books. Not many electronics. The quality of the finds are the best part of the store. They also rotate their inventory very frequently so you can go in week after week and find great items. read more

DAV Thrift Store - Thrift Stores Near Me - Virginia Beach, Virginia

This was the first thrift I went to when I first moved to Virginia this summer and I was not let down. They have a good selection of furniture and home decor which is what I was looking for at the time. The clothes are a hit or miss for me but I've been able to find cheap clothes for work (a daycare teacher). The staff is sweet and the store is very clean compared to other thrift stores! read more

I've been shopping at DAV ever since it opened and it's a wonderful place supporting a great cause. Like any other thrift store you never know what you're going to find from one day to the next, but they always seem to have something that catches your eye. And making donations couldn't be simpler: just pull your vehicle around to the end of the building and a very friendly and helpful staff member will help unload or do it FOR you if needed. The prices are extremely reasonable, and if I wasn't moving soon, I'd probably be spending a truck load more money with them. read more

Nice place wish we had them up in Nyc area staff was friendly prices was on point. Merchandise was A-1

I am giving this store a 2-star review because of the one pleasant employee I interacted with during my transaction. I was discriminated against from the moment I stepped foot into the establishment. I have already spoken with a "General Manager" so I won't go into great detail, but I will NEVER shop nor recommend this location again. Majority of the employees had zero diversity understanding/training and were very impolite. Completely horrible and humiliating experience. read more

We like this thrift store. It seems to be well managed, well stocked with reasonable prices to move the stock. It supports a good cause also. We've visited two locations in Va Beach and both are good. read more

The prices here are outrageous!!! This is a thrift store. The prices do not reflect that at all. Whoever is doing the pricing is doing a horrible job. This use to be one of my favorite thrift stores. Not anymore. LOWER THE PRICES. THIS IS NOT A CONSIGNMENT STORE. read more

Just a shout out to our very favorite thrift store. Friendly and sweet staff. Awesome picks.

Things are overpriced. I ask an associate for a price on the item that didn't have a ticket. I wanted to buy the item. The lady was rude said its not ready and not processed. They should process stuff in the back for prices. Its sad other good people left that place. I don't donate no items there. They won't get no more of my business. read more

I saw an item that was in red discounted but could not make out what amount they had on there. The manager was called and a big deal was made of it because the girl behind the counter could not read what it said either. Anyway I made a mistake of not getting it then but came back a few days later to get it. I went straight for the item but it was priced 3 times higher then the previous day. I came with my daughter but she went to look at other stuff. After I spoke with the same employee who again called the manager without me requesting it, but she was acting that that was a new item and it just came out on the floor. I could not convince her it was not but then just gave up. And she had no recollection of our talk the other day. So I continued shopping no big deal. My daughter then heard the employees gossiping about me while I was still in the store but not within earshot. I will continue shopping there but its a hit and miss. Try not to ask anything just mind your business! Oh yeah and those continuous loud code callings over the PA system are not really necessary at all! My daughter who lives out of this area was disgusted at the prices and the employees and asked me not to bring here here again. Oh well that was my experience - hope yours is better. Thanks ! read more

This store is the best thrift store in the area. We usually go in the morning for best selection and fewer people. Great stuff every time!

Today I went into the dav on general booth Blvd. Due to medical conditions I can not wear a mask, mind you I have been in several stores since the mask mandate and have not been approached. I follow the 6ft social distance requirements, I sanitize and wash my hands regularly and do not go out when sick or feverish. I was approached and told that I needed to leave the store if I do not cover my face. I frequently visit this store as it is close to my home and I support its cause tremendously, as a wife of an active duty service member and a daughter and granddaughter of veterans I spend and donate an obscene amount of money since it's opening! I left as asked, but later called to speak with management as I felt that my rights, people with disabilities act and HIPAA laws were violated! When the so called manager Jennifer answered the phone I stated my reason for calling very politely and she hung up on me without letting me finish. For a cause that is supposed to support disabled veterans and their families I am disgusted by this behavior. Not to mention that a thrift store is probably one of the most UNSANITARY places you could go during a pandemic I still support its cause and was proud to do so until today!! I highly doubt they are washing and sanitizing everything dropped off to their establishment... yet I still supported it. My request is that you educate your staff on the Americans with disabilities act, HIPAA laws, customer service and basic human rights! I will be contacting the main office on Monday in Hope of making sure others are not treated in this manner again. As for Jennifer I hope you are never treated the way you treated me today! read more
