I've called and complained about the same issue many times. Employees in your way and not moving. So if you like a thrift store with rude employees, this is the place! They literally DONT move when you're trying to look at anything. And they'll walk RIGHT in front of you to the point of almost mowing you over. Im also SO TIRED of the prices rising. For what... your fake inflation??? I'm not paying a thrift store more than $15 for a lamp. And no more than $10 for shoes. USED. SHOES. Friendly and helpful folks. Prices are reasonable although some items that are highly desired can be pricey. Be patient as the staff actively adjusts prices. I have purchased appliances, furniture, some clothing and I am so pleased with the price and the store backing up a limited time to return a stackable washer/dryer if the unit had issues. Just visited & it's a great lil thrift spot! Honestly, it isn't the most welcoming on the outside because it almost seems like it's closed down but it is big inside. I love the options they have and how the items are sectioned. Prices are great (got 5 items for $8) and the employees are very kind and helpful. Shoppers be careful about this store. They charge 10 per for credit card usage. Also, I made a purchase of several items with cash and the cashier tried to slip me a torn up money and I told her that I dint accept torn money. She said " I can't open the drawer unless a purchase is made. I had to wait 10 minutes unitl a person came to her register. She gave me the money back by she thought she was going to give me torn money. Buyer beware before you shop at this store. I dont think this is the best shopping Experience. I've been told that I really haven't been thrifting until I visit Thrift Store City. I didn't understand the appeal until a woman from church started telling me the prices of things, and how she very rarely spends more than $7 an item here. During my visit I was a little overwhelmed at first...which never happens to me. There are so many clothes, which thankfully they are all sorted by style, and there is even a rack dedicated to clothes that have tags on it. The only negative I would have to say about this place is that there is no dressing room. Luckily I was dressed appropriately, ( Tunic and tights); So myself and a dozen other people all congregated at the back of the store and made makeshift dressing rooms. The prices are very reasonable and all the clothes that I saw were in good condition. I would definitely recommend anyone who enjoys thrift store shopping to come here. read more

The majority of the floor staff are quiet and friendly, but I have encountered a couple that are rude. I've never had an issue with the cashiers, always friendly. I was shopping for end tables and found what I thought to be a great deal on food try tables, which were the right height and nice enough for my purpose, four tables and stand and only one actual price hand written on one tag attached to the stand. I took them the the register and the manager was training a new cashier, they rang it up and I left. On the way out one of their employee ask if I got a good deal and I told him what I paid. After loading them securely into my vehicle the manager that helped ring me up came out and said those were priced by the piece and wanted more money. I told her I paid the price as it was marked and proceeded to leave. She tried acting threatening and pull out her phone as if calling police, and then took a picture, I assume. I paid the price and have a receipt. They would not have been worth more to me. read more

Okay the prices are not too bad and not as bad as it was just a year ago, But when i picked two things out and they added up to a little over 18.00 i was told i would be charged to use my debt card wow are they nuts. My review is based solely on the left side of the store. This is a thrift store that you can come to, dig around, and find some great pieces. I think that this store has not been hit by the ''trendy'' yet so the prices are still manageable and the selection is still good. Great for jackets and dresses. What makes this store not so great is the attitude from the ladies behind the counter. Also not a good place for accessories - jewelry or purses. Didn't really see any furniture to write home about. I will keep this thrift store on the list...but only for those days that I feel like putting on my headphones and blaring my iPod as I shop. read more

A great place for finding things like kids clothes and other stuff. Just had a very awful experience with one kf their staff. Must have been someone froM management since I had asked to see if they could price something lower to take that day having had bought some furniture. I get it, prices are firm, you cannot negotiate/bargain at all. But the man was a complete a-hole infront of my daughter about it. He didn't have to be a jerk and in anger say that they normally tell people to get out of here. Spent 30 minutes picking out magazines (50 in total). went to the front and was told that they were 45 cents a piece versus 5/.99. Only rationale was that they just came in?????? I love this place. The clothes are fantastic and a very good bargain. Lots of most anything you could need and the prices are great too, especially on mark-downs. Furniture, artwork, household, clothing and anything in-between. This is definitely the go-to place when you want a great deal. One of the reducers is working the glass area. I have never encountered such abuse at a retail location, as I have at Thrift store city. To be accused of being a thief by an employee and required to defend one's self will truly create even the kindest person to defend honest action and intentions. Discovering a table that was in the back in the back of the store priced 39.00 seemed reasonable, I made the attempt to take it to the register. As it was heavy I carried it a few feet put it down and returned with a cart, as there was no one to help. I pulled my back as I lifted the table into the cart the tag that was stapled to the table fell off.. Some employee placed the tag with stapeler in the wood. This poorly placed tag fell off the edge of the table. I picked up the tag off of the floor and proceded to the front register to pay at the counter. Upon trying to pay I was informed that I should have taken off the bottom half of the tag. I informed her that the tag had fallen off when I placed it in the cart. And didnt know the rules here as this had been my second time ever here... Well, the gates of hell opened. As the slow tourte of disfuntion and obscurity took hold. She said; I can't sell it without permission. After 10 minutes and 5 requests for manager the request fell pn deaf ears, with a second cashier begging over the loud speakers.... The second round of insanity began....I was then told it was not her(the manager) department and she needed to call Dave. Seems it was daves department. Well how lucky for me I'm thinking as perhaps Dave was the bright individual that stapled a price tag into WOOD with an office type of staple...and HELL would vanish, I could pay for the table and be on my way... Boy using the word bright was long stretch and the wrong word and I now have steped into the rabbit hole... Dave the "wonder" employee, begians his attitude and tells me he didn't price this table and begins to accuse me being the problem and insinuating now that I am a thief. Then Dave the fly trap....proceeded to dig a deeper hole to insult me by asking me to find the holes as to where the stapled tag was, insinuating now that I am some kind of idiot thief. After going down the rabbit hole of his stupidity, I said really what is going on...this process has now taken 20 minutes of my time, the table was priced by a stapler, the tag states TABLE and is indeed the tag that was on the table that fell off and NOW you are asking me to defend myself and my integrity by looking for tiny pin holes in a old beat up table with a very ornate design. Needless to say I left in frustration. Here's the wonderful part in calling Mr. Johnson who seems to be the owner even less mental capacity then Dave.... Insulted in every way possable. This bully abuser called me not only a thief, crazy, and a rich _ I T C H... just when you think you heard it all... No... not with this establishment. This retail thrift store honors no one. There is no one benefiting from this thrift store but Mr. Johnson. Do you not question all the donations...what are YOU donating TOO??? In my opinion Mr. Johnson's Mercedes payment, is what Thrift Store City is all about. No community services, No children, Not homeless shelters, Not rehabilitation of work or education. "Mr. Johnson" Mr. Johnson was abusive, insulting, and belittles his customers, slanders them and causes them emotional harm, upsetting them, falsely accusing them of thieft, lying and holds poor opinions of "WOMEN" that not only shop there pay his bills but also supports his funding by donating goods. AND he encourages like mind behavior in his employees. BUT HERES THE GOOD NEWS LADIES. DID YOU KNOW HE IS SPREADING THAT WOMEN ESPECIALLY WITH MONEY are thieves. As he told my husband who made the attempt to find out how unbalanced Mr. Johnson really is listening to him ramble on and deface women who spend hard earned monies there. After insulting me he further states Rich women come in all the time and change his tags.... all the time because you are cheap and steal from him. When did an artist such as myself make it to the status of discrimination of rich _itch??? Yah ...I drive an 02 old beat up SUV. Mr. Johnsons accusations, discrimination and abuse is harmful and in my opinion poor business and will be reported to the better business bureau. As well as legal investigation. His thrift store supports his pockets, not community in which it serves. You think your donations are for non profit, well think again. I live in Norfolk and I have been in this store dozens of times. This has been my favorite thrift store for shoes and leather purses. Today was my first visit in year 2019. Their payment policy has changed - they assess a 2% surcharge for the use of debit or credit cards. If you want to buy clothing be aware that there is no dressing room and no returns, refunds or store credit. The prices seemed to be higher than usual and they have no discount days. I would like to come here more often but I dont like being charged for using a debit card. There are simply too many other excellent thrift stores in the area for me to tolorate a surcharge for shopping here. Also I am not sure what, if any, charity this thrift store supports. read more

This place is HUGE and filled to the rafters with hidden gems. If you're looking for a good book, a forgotten vinyl, a pair of board shorts, an old cassette tape or a vintage suit or dress, this is the place to shop. It's fairly AND clearly priced. The items are cleaned and sanitised. The coolest thing about this place, it doesn't have that "thrift store smell." Actually, that's just one of the coolest things. They wanted $20 for an old used board game that could be bought brand new at Walmart for a couple bucks more. They had an old beat up bookshelf that they were trying to sell for $60. This place is great for baby clothes and occasionally small toys. I live in bayview so I go here about 2x a month and always find something. Clothes can b washed and toys can be washed. I use a magic eraser to remove their permanent markers on the toys. That's what they use to price toys/housewares. read more

Theres several things I wish would change.I have heard several of the women working there standing around gossiping when they should be working and when they put clothes on the racks,they push the clothes forward. I got my hand smashed that way.The manager needs a few lessons in manners.But I have found a brand new suit for $ 10.00 normally $65.00 so I would reccomend it. read more

Extremely expensive on things like collectibles. A quick check on eBay shows many items below 10 dollars while their prices are doubled even tripled. Some items marketed as vintage when they aren't. Would not recommend for these but clothes are cheap. read more
