Good prices. Good layout and selection of items. This is one of my fav thrift stores in the area for sure.

The workers here were very rude. Prices were ridiculously high for a thrift store and the items were not worth the cost.

I recently dropped off a donation for CHKD Thrift Store on Battlefield Boulevard in the heart of Chesapeake. The store was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of items for sale at very reasonable prices. read more

Just moved to the area and this was the first thrift store I visited and wowwww, this is a gold mine. They have a plus size section which is nice and have some good large furniture. Although it's mostly clothes. The clothes are not organized by size so it can be a bit of a hunt. Tons of nice mens polos. read more

Who knew what this place can hold - great prices for someone's forgotten, giveaway become someone else's treasures! Love how they have the most used, most browsed items right by the entrance; then the bigger, bummer items in the far back corner. Very friendly staff greets you. Shelves are very organized with ample space around items so it doesn't look cluttered and especially where you have fragile items you want to retrieve from shelves for a closer look. There are so many items here - vases, jewelry, CD's and vinyl records, lamps and chests and all types of clothing. Now I know why people obsess looking for that unique find! read more

Each store appears to have someone pricing this stuff. Look people come here for several reasons, they want a good deal, but they want their money to help someone. People donate stuff to you so you can sell it and support your mission. WILL YOU PEOPLE GET OVER YOURSELVES, you are not selling retail merchandise, You selling stuff someone GAVE YOU, you have no cost in the items you sell. If I wanted to pay 30 bucks for Armitron watch, I'll just go to Walmart and get a new one for 35. GET OVER YOURSELVES AND TEST YOUR ITEMS PLEASE, I an tired of plugging in stuff and finding out it dont work but your selling it for 10 bucks. Throw that shit in the garbage. For those of you donating thank you now stop giving them your broken busted rickety shit, throw that garbage out please. CHKD is not your personal disposal of broken shit. For CHKD stop looking for arms and legs for this stuff, it was given freely. For Donators stop giving them your busted broken rickety shit, throw it in the garbage. read more

I have shopped at this thrift store for YEARS. I've had a small backpack purse for the same amount of time and today I was told to leave because of a policy of no backpacks in the store. I understand if it was a HUGE regular size backpack but it was a purse with 2 straps that can be worn as a backpack. I have NEVER been treated so rudely or nastily in my life. When I explained it was my purse I was told to put it in my car. When I asked how I was supposed to purchase anything, she told me I didn't need a purse to shop. Customer service skills need to be practiced here. Feel free to shop if you want to get yelled at! No deal is worth that hassle. read more

3.5 rounded up to 4 for employee hospitality. They are super sweet and all around helpful to one another and customers without delay. This location has a little bit of everything. Quite similar to other locations with the one mirror and no fitting room situation, Lol. Furniture, other houseware things, knick knacks, and clothes are the focus here. Small shoe and jewelry selection. Simply ask to test appliances before buying and if not, the employees will even ask if you want to try it before you purchase. read more

Employees are very rude loud and obnoxious. They act as though they don't want to be there.

I went in today to drop off a sizeable donation. I had the pleasure of "interacting" with an African American woman named Donna. The store was busy, very hot in there, with a very long line of shoppers waiting to check out. Donna could care less and proceeds in having a long conversation with a woman about decorating Christmas trees. Seriously? I asked her if I could get my tax slip for my donation and she rolls her eyes at me and then tells her customer "You didn't see that". WOW! Downright rude with the work ethic of a slug. Donations are the reason "Miss Donna" gets a paycheck. This woman has no business working in customer service....she has the personality of a toenail. I hope I never have the pleasure of interacting with her again. I should've taken my donations elsewhere. read more

This is for a good cause, so I say this with the greatest respect - it's filthy in there. The place smelled of cigarette smoke, the floors were dirty, and much of the toys and furniture were broken. Broken furniture is a DIYers dream, but for those looking for something because they are very much in need, it'd be cheaper to buy the real thing with the amount it would cost to repair (i.e. changing tables, baby furniture, etc.) I was pretty disappointed. I had been eyeing this store for a while, hoping I'd find some hidden treasures, but I couldn't get over the cigarette smell :(. read more

Not too much here, the shopping area is very small. There are plenty of clothes which are very well organized and sorted by size. I even found a pair of tighty whities for 98 cents. I've got to tell you, something about putting on a pair of used underwear just kind of repulses me. The selection of shoes and handbags is very small. There is just the tiniest selection of cooking utensils and kitchen appliances. The electronics section is smaller than most thrift stores as well. There's an average selection of books, CD's and DVD's. The furniture seems to be a bit overpriced. There was a small kitchen table with four chairs for $150, the table was very wobbly and weak. It seemed like it might collapse under the weight of an average dinner setting. All in all this location is a good place if you are looking for bargains on clothing but it shouldn't be a destination for much else. The staff is very friendly and everyone seemed to enjoy what they were doing. Of course all the profits go for a very good cause. read more

Today we were turned away at the door for my 14 month old daughter not wearing a mask. I informed the employee my daughter was only 14 months old and masks are a suffocating hazard and not recommended until age 2. She told me once again, everyone entering the store must wear a mask regardless of age, this is "store policy". Well upon visiting CHKD thrist store website and reviewing their company store policy this is not their store policy. Their store policy specifically states children under the age of 2 are safely exempt. Very rude and unprofessional way to handle business. Employees don't even know their own store policy. read more

Overall, CHKD is a good thrift store. They have the usual thrift store merchandise; clothes, furniture, toys, books, housewares, electronics, etc. Prices can vary wildly. Some items are an absolute steal, while others can be priced way to high. Its not unheard of for them to price something used for higher than it is brand new. The electronics are a bit a crap shoot. They say the test them before they put them out on the shelves, but you have to take that with a grain of salt. read more

While their clothing prices are a bit much, I do feel like this place is great. With furniture reasonably priced, especially if it sits long enough, and other stuff for offer. Randomly you can find medical devices like walkers or disabled individual toilets. Highly recommend. Their other stores, like the one in Virginia Beach has a wider selection but this store still has plenty to offer a bargain hunter. Best place to shop for great prices outside a garage or estate sale. read more

I come here often and I love the customer service! When you enter this facility, you will be greeted. Today, I came in finishing my yogurt cup. I know you aren't' supposed to eat inside so I was looking for a trash bin. The cashier immediately noticed and kindly offered to toss my yogurt cup and spoon in the trash bin behind the counter. That was really nice of her to do that. My suggestion would be for them to keep a trash bin outside the entrance. That would be a big help. I had visited a different CHKD yesterday in VA Beach, but didn't have any luck. I even mistakenly posted my photos from here on that site somehow. Correction has been made. So today, I noticed a cool roller bag I can use at work. It was located outside on the sidewalk. They also had a pair of skis in great condition and lots of outdoor toys and scooters for the little ones. Some of these items were a bit overpriced, though. This location has lots of clothing to choose from! You'll find some great deals and you also find some pieces that should be marked lower. For instance, I can't imagine why they have undershirts and bra tank tops for $3.99. These should be no more than $2! They have plenty of clothing from baby to adult for both males and females. I seem to always find t-shirts with the tags still on them in the men's section. I lucked up on a few yesterday and most of them were under $2. I was very pleased with the prices on their men's tees. They also have a large selection of wine glasses and vintage plates, saucers, and cups that are reasonably priced. They have a wide variety of styles to choose from. This is definitely my favorite CHKD location and I'm glad it is located close to home. I'll definitely be returning here very soon. Probably tomorrow. :-) 1 more suggestion: PLEASE GROUP CLOTHING ITEMS BY SIZE. read more

I come here when I'm pretty much killing time or to drop things off. The workers are not exceptionally friendly, but they're courteous. They do have a variety of toys. They don't really have a good selection of furniture. For a thrift shop, I guess they're mediocre. read more

There is a large selection and great prices but if you're going to look for clothes please note there are no dressing rooms. I had 8 pair of pants I put right back on the rack because no way to try them on. They probably lost a couple hundred dollars in sales because I had framed pictures and tools also that I put back. That being said, the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's not their fault that there are no dressing rooms. read more
