Poor Service!! Double Take has been my go-to consignment store for over a decade, and I have spent more than $50,000 at their Norfolk and Virginia Beach locations. Despite the risks associated with buying second-hand clothes, I have supported consignment owners in the DC, MD, and VA area for almost 40 years. Recently, I purchased a pair of leopard boots from Double Take, only to have the soles come off on both boots while I was wearing them the next day. I informed the sales assistant, Ryan, about the incident, not asking for a refund but only to ensure that the store would be aware of the situation and take precautions to prevent future customers from having a similar experience. The store owner, Jo, offered to split the repair cost when the sales assistant informed her of the incident. I was grateful for this kind gesture and submitted the receipt to the store. However, over the next few months, I repeatedly followed up with Ryan, who promised to contact the owner, but never received any response. When I finally spoke with Jo, she denied ever offering to split the repair cost and became dismissive, even though I had no intention of asking for any compensation. I was disappointed and offended by her disrespectful behavior, which caused me to lose faith in Double Take after many years of loyalty. As a result, I have decided to take my business to a different consignment store, Worth the Wait in Virginia Beach where customers are treated with respect and the owner demonstrates excellent customer service. read more

This boutique has a nice selection of slightly used designer items! I can imagine it being a thrifters dream. I found some vintage Chanel, Fendi, and Gucci bags, wallets, beautiful Lily Pulitzer stuff, I mean lots of quality items for less. The women who was running the store that day was extremely helpful and nice. She was willingly to show you anything and find you anything. I see why this place has won the coveted Best at the Beach award. I think I got whiplash from all the double-takes I did in this store. Every rack popped with color and style. I would look at a rack, something on another rack would catch my eye, then I would go back to the same rack because I wasn't ready to give it up. Coach bags, funky purple shoes, flowy summer dresses in brands I've never heard of--Oh my Shopper's Delight! Unfortunately my whiplash inducing shopping trip did not end in a purchase. I love Double Take but my pockets haven't yet upgraded from thrift to consignment. But alas, I can always window shop or go to their wonderful Facebook page and stalk my top faves until I've saved enough pennies. read more

This is the highest end, most expensive consignment shop I have ever been in. They have Coach purses $200 - $300, that's the sale price. They have designer labels all over the place and beautiful, like-new shoes. Everything on the hangers appeared to be freshly dry cleaned. Unfortunately they don't have much in my size, 14, most of the clothes are smaller. Hey, Oprah says that's the average size of a woman in the US. The good news is I walked out with 5 new shirts for $110.00 - YEAH! It is clear they are particular in what they will accept into the shop. While I was there two different people walked in with clothes and both walked back out with them. This is NOT the Salvation Army. Women's clothing only. No men or children. read more

went in for the first time today, b/c I heard they sold "higher end" but decently priced clothing. That much is true. They had everything from Louis Vuitton to Banana Republic. it is a nice size, not too big where you are overwhelmed and in there for hours searching. I did not see anything that spiked my interest, but i'd definitely go back in, considering the saleslady told me that they change it up every day. In August my family and I visited Virginia Beach and stayed in a hotel not to far from Double TakevConsignment Shop. From entering the store we found it to be clean, organized and a pleasant atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helped me find a few things that I needed in my size. I wish I could have spent more time, but we were on a time crunch. I found the prices to be great and could tell the store is clearly run by people who understand the retail business. The options seemed to be endless and I only wish I lived closer to this store so I could visit it more often. Looks like another trip,to VA Beach will be in my near future! I will start by saying I read some of the reviews. I love this place! I have been going to both locations for several years now. Never have I had a bad experience. I love the staff they are friendly and always there to help. The merchandise is as expected for a high end consignment shop. From moderately priced J.Crew to super high end( and highly discounted) Louis Vuitton they have you covered. They're honest opinions and guidance make sure I never leave in something that doesn't fit me or suit my body type. I will continue to go back for great clothes and great fashion advice! read more

I popped into this shop just before close and the sales lady, Jeanne, was a total sweetheart and was happy to chat with us and show me clothes/shoes in my size. They have very high end items such as Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin as well as other good quality labels Banana Republic BCBG. The store is well organized and has the appearance of being well stocked without being cluttered. They have regular sales and I was lucky to get 15% off my purchase. I bought a 100% silk Beth Bowley dress for $35 and I know clothes from this label sell for above $300. If you are looking for upscale designer items (that have been used gently) without having to make a trip to DC or Richmond, I would recommend Double Take. I am hoping that the Ghent store becomes as good as the VA Beach location in the near future. read more

Today was my first visit and I will definitely be back when I am in the area again, as it is a little ways away from where I live. I didn't bother looking at the clothes- at first glance, it looked like they appealed to women older than my age. So I went through their selection of handbags, shoes, jewelry and accessories. It's not a huge store, so you'll have to dig through some items to find gems but they were definitely there. After looking through lots of Kate Spade, MK, and Coach (I figured, I could just head to the outlets to get those brands at a discounted prices) I saw they did have more luxury brands, like Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Gucci bags in store, in great condition, for a fraction of the retail value. They have a wide range of jewelry as well to fit lots of styles and any budget. They have a great shoe selection with all kinds of designs and occasions but it was difficult to find my size. No surprise there though, my feet are smaller than average, so it'd be a pleasant surprise if they did have my size. Finally, the sales associate was super helpful and even gave me a discount at the register. I left with a Prada crossbody bag and a super cute necklace. All in all, I'll definitely be back, especially Tuesdays and Thursdays when they get new items! read more

Girls, get your cute butts in here and make them even cuter. This place is packed full of designer clothes, handbags, shoes and jewelry. I never leave empty-handed. They keep up with latest trends and fashions. You won't have to feel guilty anymore about making those designer purchases when you are getting them for less here. If you are tired of the majority of boring clothes we have to pick from in Hampton Roads, come here--luckily we have some people around here that go make glitzy purchases in big cities and then sell them at double take when they get them home and realize they don't fit. I just started selling here too--they really are choosy to keep their store teeming with only the best, the newest, and those that are truly designer. While needing a break from the sand and sun on vacation, my Mom, daughter and I stopped here. I found it to be a very high end consignment boutique for women, clean and well organized, with fair prices on a range of quality brands. Think Coach, a Dolce & Gabbana suit for $350 that I almost cried when it didn't fit, and Prada shoes. I felt a little under dressed to be there, but the sales lady was sweet as pie, and I was happy to walk out with a $28 formal dress for my teenager, and my Mom spent less than $40 on a shirt and pair of shoes. I took 12 pieces to be consigned. Some were Target (Who What Wear) Vicidolls maxi dress still tags on and other items. I called 3 weeks after to see if I had accrued any money to which I was told 5 items sold, and was advised to let them keep them longer. I waited a week I called and left a message that I would be picking up the unsold items and the check for what had been sold. So I arrived and not the day I wanted to do pickup, but the following day after. I figured it would all be pulled by that point. When I arrived I waited for(I guess the owner Jo?) I told her that I left a message the day prior to pick up my things. She quickly 'you can go get your boots they are hanging up over there' then proceeds to tell me I can look through the store to 'find my things'....seriously??? The items were finally collected except one dress, and honestly she wasn't bothered by that at all. I said well if you can't find my dress and my deadline comes how will I be compensated? She said 'oh I will just write it down...here's where it gets good. I said can you tell me how much I have in my account? She said $19!!!! I said for 7 pieces????? Which the Vicidoll dress had tags that I paid $120 for. So that dress and 6 pieces sold for 19??'!!! She didn't like that I questioned it which it is my stuff I'm allowed to ask. I told her that I had read a post that she wasn't the easiest person to deal with to which she said and I quote...'F*^k Y*u!' then she yelled 'Get the F&@k out if my store!!!!' Screaming like a crazy person. She had another client in the store I can't imagine what she thought? I said calmly you should not talk to customers that way. I waited outside and I guess she felt slightly bad and instead of a $19 check she wrote a $24 check to me outside. I say be careful maybe you will hit her on a good day. I am reviewing the Norfolk location. Double Take is a very fun place to shop! They have brands there that are hard to find in Virginia Beach. The shop itself is pretty quirky and you can tell a love of love is put into this business. I do think that some of the items are a little overpriced for a consignment shop (yes, even a high end one). But, they do carry so many fun and beautiful items that would otherwise be unaffordable for me if I bought it new! read more

I've stepped into Double Take a few times- generally when I have been looking for something special, for example a new dress for a cocktail party or wedding. On each occasion I haven't found what I was looking for but I did end up making a purchase. In the past I have been able to find a few casual tops by Free People which is one of my favorite brands. The prices seem reasonable to high for used clothing but they are constantly having sales- for example 20% off all Louis Vuitton or 10% off if you pay in cash, etc. From my experiences, the staff doesn't seem too helpful- they are just kind of there greeting people and checking them out. The shop is well organized and not overly stocked which is helpful if you are looking for something specific. This is a fun place to go and most items look to have been barely worn if not worn at all. read more

I made the mistake of buying a dress for my wife (Christmas Party) dressed purchased in the morning, wife comes home from work tries it on ,it does not fit . Go back to store and asked to exchange it for a dress that does fit, but "no can do" the lady said "see the hand painted sign on the wall". Did she tell me about the return policy before, no, did she point out the hand painted sign on the wall before, no. My wife wears a size 12 I know this, I have bought clothes (dresses) for her before, this dress said size 12 but it was not even close. We just wanted a dress that fit but they did not want to help us, sorry it's policy she said. I think their policy is wrong if it does not make a happy customer. Don' t you? read more

Not that impressed. I liked the layout of the store but was not greeted or even spoke to as I looked around. At one point the salesperson (owner?) was standing right next to me and couldn't speak two words. She might have just assumed that I couldn't afford it so maybe she needs to watch "Pretty Woman". I had my teenage daughter with me and as we flipped through the racks I noticed it was mostly older woman's clothing trying to appear cool. I like this store because it is sorta small, you don't have to spend hours looking through items. They are very selective about what they sell, but there is still something for every budget. They have clothes for all adult age ranges. And they do a lot of fundraisers for various charities. The sales staff is not high pressure. read more

Have shopped in Double Take Hilltop location since they opened and continue to shop there. Have shopped at Ghent, Norfolk location once and found it to be on par with the Virginia Beach location. I shop the Hilltop location due to convenience, as I live in VB. I've purchased good quality, condition and wide variety of clothes, handbags and jewelry at a very good price point. The owner-Jo and Staff Genie, Louisa have always been very pleasant, helpful and highly professional to make shopping here very enjoyable. I like the Friday pay in cash, receive 10% off your total purchase a nice incentive and weekly drawing for a free (usually) jewelry item fun and have won a nice enamel bracelet! This store is appropriate for women of all ages who are looking for unique/designer items for special occasions, casual and business attire affordably priced. My tip on shopping here is to pop in every other week because there's always new merchandise. read more
