Solidly consistent, well almost. This is not the first time I've been here but obviously the first time I've reviewed it. I've always had great times here and last night was no different. Walking in the door the hostess was a little standoffish. Five of us but only four seats at a table in the bar area. She basically refused to seat us but we sat down anyways. Five of us at a table set for four with one standing slightly leaning on a chair was fine for us. It was 8 PM and we knew the place would be clearing out at 8:30, after all it is Naples Florida. I didn't let the rude hostess dampen our spirit and the first person that came to us was probably the best server I have had in Naples. Friendly, eye contact, genuine and understanding. While I was the designated driver my other four were somewhere in the happy stages of inebriation but not rude. Our server, which I do not remember her name, was most gracious , kind and tolerant. The drinks came out and our server was very cognizant of everything that was presented. Three clean wine glasses, a glass for my beer and the time in care to pour and not just dump the bottle on the table and walk away. We ordered food and i was pleasantly reminded of the depth of quality in each dish. At about 840 several tables seem to have opened up as we were predicting and a whole new crowd started to filter in. It's a nice eclectic group of patrons Along with a fantastic staff and food. Wow I really love Hob Nob! The space is super cute, it feels sophisticated yet casual. I am dreaming of the Meyer short rib, definitely a little pricey but perfectly cooked and so delicious. The steak frites are also a favorite entree. The mussels are popular as well. They do happy hour at the bar, but we were offered to have it at our table since it was a slow night...highly appreciated! I love Hob Nob and I'm shocked that I haven't wrote a review yet. I go every time I'm in Naples. This and Thai Udon are my must visit spots. Hob Nob is so welcoming and I love the marquee EAT and DRINK lights. I always come here for the happy hour, you just can't beat it. You'll be lead to the high top tables or the bar. I actually haven't sat down to dinner here yet. I always get the arancini, the deviled eggs, mussels, and the octopus with white beans. These are my favorite deviled eggs anywhere! We went here for dinner around 6. They had a summer special 3 courses for 36. I had the sweet and spicy calamari, the skirt steak, and the red velvet cake. We also ordered the mushroom pizza off of Happy hour. The mushroom pizza was amazing!!!! The calamari was also very unique and delicious. My favorite was the steak it was flavorful. Another amazing bar in Naples that provides a perfect Happy Hour!! For a select few hours in the afternoon, Hob Nob offers an amazing happy hour spread, including specials on cocktails, beer, wine, and a limited food menu. We tried a bunch of the appetizers including: Arancini, shrimp and grits, wild mushroom pizza, and the octopus and white beans. We loved everything. The shrimp and grits were my favorite and even with the bit of hot sauce on them they weren't overpoweringly spicy as I was anticipating. They turned out to be a real treat! We also had some $5 mules -- who can complain about that?! Props to the bartender whose name is slipping my mind, but he was on top of everything and super friendly! My mom and I had a really top-notch dinner here tonight. Everything was great from top to bottom. We were greeted and promptly seated for our reservation. Our server was cheerful, attentive, and helpful. And the food and drinks for both outstanding. First, cocktails. Between us we had the green chile mule, spa-tini, and L-tini. I didn't love the Green Chile mule, which is more green pepper than anything, but both other cocktails were tasty. For our appetizers we had the arancini. These were outstanding, and we could easily have forgone part of our dinner to have a second helping. These are a bit different than the traditional arancini you find in an Italian restaurant since they were made with cheddar and jalapeno, but they're delicious and perfectly fried. They had just the right amount of heat and a super tasty ranch of some sort (chipotle?). Neither of us was in the mood for a big dinner, so we ordered a bunch of things and grazed. We had the heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad, the artichoke appetizer, and the fingerling potato, spinach, and polenta sides. The salad was very nice and the artichokes were good (though the sauce left a little to be desired). We enjoyed the tasty honey fingerling potatoes, though they really could have been crispier on the outside. It could be that due to the volume at which those are served as a side they make them in a large batch. I know those don't hold their crispiness super long once they're out of the oven. The standouts were the perfectly cooked garlic spinach and the fantastically cheesy polenta. Both of those were flawlessly executed. Since everything we ate or drank was so good, we certainly couldn't leave without dessert. We had the Tres Leches bread pudding and it was outstanding. It had a very custardy taste and a cinnamon and nutmeg aroma. Just delicious. I'll definitely be back when I'm down visiting my mom, but don't worry-- you'll see plenty of her in the meantime. Such a fun hangout in the Naples downtown! The food is great and they often have live bands playing. It's casual yet chic, and I would come back when I am visiting naples again. You might wanna make a reservation if you're visiting on a weekend during prime dinner time but on off seasons you might be lucky enough to get a table if you're a small party and/or eating late. This place is also open later than other dinner places, which is always a plus , especially if you have had a long day at the beach and wanna hit the downtown area late. They do have seasonal menus, we have been there twice, and liked each time . The meat was done to perfection and the fries were fun. However the desserts top it all! We here when my brother and sister was down here from San Fransico,California and Franklin Tennessee wow the food is fabulous and the staff was friendly and on time. The hostess had sat down the server had came to ask us what we wanted to drink. And what we all wanted to eat. There was nothing on the menu for me but a pizza was on a menu but with somethings on it that really did not appeal to me so I had asked if I can just have it plain and they said yes. Our last evening of a Naples, Florida vacation was spent at the bar of HobNob, yet another restaurant on 5th Avenue. My husband and I had a great time sampling the menu (both food and drink). During the dining experience, we discovered things we thought were spot on, and a couple of things that missed the culinary mark. The food and drink: Let me preface this by saying that we ordered quite a bit of food for two people, but in our defense, we ordered only 1 entree and the rest came from the small plate section. Don't judge! Oh go ahead and judge - we really don't care. I started with the blueberry mojito. It consisted of Vangogh acai-blueberry vodka + lemon + mint. I asked if it had additional sweetener and I am glad I did - it also contains simple syrup. I really do not care for sweet drinks and he gladly omitted it. It was OUTSTANDING. It was all I could do to NOT suck it down in 15 seconds. My husband started with a margarita. When I consulted the menu for a description, I could not find it. I know it had plenty of cilantro in it, and some jalapeño. These flavors are his jam so of course he loved it. My next order was the "l-tini". This drink has very few ingredients: Ketel One vodka, St. Germain, fresh grapefruit. This seemed like an obvious winner for me but, nope. I took one sip and found it to be too sweet. My husband had to deal with that one (meaning, he drank it slowly throughout the rest of the evening). By the way....I ended up ordering a second blueberry mojito after that. Next my husband ordered the Moscow Mule. This drink offered options that include Three Olives peach + basil [or] Cruzan strawberry rum [or] St. George green chile vodka [or] Reyka vodka + lime + ginger beer. He went with the green chile vodka/lime/ginger beer option. He liked it - that is it. He did not rave about it and ended up ordering another margarita like he originally had. (In case you're wondering - we did not have a car - we walked everywhere and no, we do NOT drink like this regularly.) I'm going to move on to the food, which, I should say, we consumed AS we had the sampling of cocktails. My first pick (and to me, the winner of the evening) was the grilled artichoke hearts with lemon aioli, garlic butter, and pine nuts. Hey, you know what this tasted like? GRILLED ARTICHOKE HEARTS. They were light, fresh, and had a great charry goodness to them. They tasted exactly like they were supposed to taste. No gloppy sauce...the garlic butter was not heavy handed in the slightest. The lemon aioli (served on the side) was light and enhanced the artichoke flavor. I used very little of it as the veggie was so darn good on its own. This was a winner. My husband ordered the crispy "sweet heat" squid. The fried squid included papaya, mango, and chilis. It reminded me of a General Tso chicken one would find on a "Chinese" buffet. I do think the squid was fried perfectly. It was not greasy at all. However, it did not taste like seafood. It was fried - and it tasted like "fried". Super crispy - yep. I'll give it that. The mango and papaya were fresh tasting and helped lighten up the whole "hey I'm a fried dish" thing but when I'm ordering something from the sea, I want it to taste like it came from the sea - in a good way, of course. Overall, the crispy "sweet heat" squid was.....fine. Good. It was good. We would not order it again, but instead we would get a second order of the afore mentioned artichoke hearts! We next shared the mussels. Whew! Yeah people - these were darn awesome. The dish includes manchego cheese, chorizo, cilantro, lemon broth. Two pieces of bread came along for the ride to dip in the broth. The mussels were incredibly tender and had a wonderful, delicate flavor of the sea. The broth was flavorful yet light. We would order again. If you love mussels, you will be glad you gave this dish a try. I ordered the aranchini. I typically do not order something as decadent as this but instead make it myself to control portions and make sure it is exactly what I want. This small plate did not seem small-five hefty sized aranchini was more than I expected. Here is what I liked about them - crunch. The texture was spot on. Not heavy/greasy in the slightest. The inside had, according to the menu, jalapeño and cheddar inside. Hmmm....I really tried to get those flavors but they were not there - at least not at the level I had hoped. The aborio rice was firm, not mushy but they seemed a tad on the dry side. Next, and we're close to being done, I promise, came the entree. Ahi tuna. I'll cut to the chase - we were disappointed. Rare, seared tuna is a favorite of ours (whoever orders the tune, wins!) but all we tasted was the sauce slathered on top. The menu shares that the tuna includes: crab fried rice, spicy tuna sauce, calamari seaweed salad. I do not know what was in the "spicy tuna sauce" but it demanded the full attention of my palate. We had stopped in Naples to have a bite to eat on the way back from Tampa. We were walking around the city and talked to a few of the shop owners on 5th street and every single person raved about Hob Nob. So we made a quick reservation and decided to eat there. Their best item on the menu is 100% their short rib. It literally SLID off the bone. It was so delicious and tender. A tiny bit fatty, but nothing major. It was mouth wateringly amazing. It came on top of risotto and usually I'm not a fan of Risotto but it was perfectly flavored, not too cheesy or strong and paired well with the short rib. We also got a side of Brussel sprouts without pork and those were also delicious, a little on the sweeter side but still went well with our short rib. Our appetizer was the tuna nachos and those were surprisingly good. Tuna tasted fresh and paired well with their house sauce and chips. We finished our meal with the tres Leches bread pudding. It was sooo soft and melted right in my mouth. Tasted great with icecream. It had no raisins, which I usually dread in bread pudding. If we ever come back towards Naples again, we're definitely making a stop here. Must try in Naples! read more

They gave us corn bread to start which was delicious and we ordered the octopus and white bean appetizer and both loved it! I got the Snapper in crazy water and my boyfriend got the lamb shank. Okay so after reading a TON of reviews we decided to get the top 3 orders which were the sea bass, snapper, and short rib. The sea bass was dry and very underwhelming. However the short rib was OUT OF THIS WORLD and everyone wanted that dish! Literally so tender you barely had to press your fork down and it fell apart. The snapper which came in a delicious broth came in 2nd place and was extremely soft with the polenta. :) lots of flavor in both these dishes. The mussels for an appetizer were also superb! Very well seasoned and good size amount. Best we've had in awhile. Heard these were better than the oysters. Have been seeing this establishment on Yelp and wondering if I would ever get downtown to check it out. Well Mrs. K. dragged me downtown to see the lighting of the Christmas lights. It was packed with people and entertainment, I never thought we would be able to eat at such a fine place with no reservations and the area so crowded. But we were seated fast. This place is not for the light wallet or full credit card. Major expensive. I had two items. HobNob chips and their Grouper and fries. Sweat mother Mary they were both 5 stars. The chips were homemade potato chips covered with a blu cheese dressing. Wonderful. The grouper and fries was the best grouper I have ever eaten in my life. Each bite was almost sad as there was less there than before. The fish was lightly breaded and amazingly firm. I really never had fish served this well prepared. read more

Chic, hip, nice staff, great bar, specials everyday, happy hour, semi private room for large parties, what's there not to like? Comfortable setting, trendy, don't have to dress up to eat fine dining. Great place to bring friends from out of town or even host a shower or birthday. Innovative menu, they have deviled eggs as appetizers. Plenty of Gluten free items and desserts! Usually I can't find many GF sweets. This place sits in the hot spot of 5th avenue, you can park at the street or garage, all free parking. Decided to take a trip to Naples from Fort Lauderdale just to try this restaurant for my GF's birthday. The atmosphere when we arrived around 530 was typical for a Friday at that time. The bar was packed for their happy hour special, a tad on the loud side (hey, it's Friday right??!!?!?) but since we drove there to dine, we were seated in the dining area. Interesting decor, kind of industrial, kind of sleek, yet comfortable. We had two waitstaff assisting us and both were so friendly. We ordered grilled artichoke hearts and the deviled eggs for appetizers. Both were delicious, but I would go with the deviled eggs if you had to pick just one. The sugar cured bacon really made this dish. Smokey and sweet is always a great combo. The complimentary corn muffins were delicious as well, the sweet butter making them a great treat. For dinner, we ordered the sea bass and the short ribs. Both dishes were so very flavorful. They were extremely rich. The portion size is small, but for the richness of the dish, it was the right amount. I actually couldn't finish my meal because it was so rich. We decided to splurge and order dessert, since it was a birthday celebration dinner. We ordered the bannoffee pudding. OMG now that is a tastytastytasty thing! Very very sweet and rich also, but if you get something like this every once in a while, your waistline shouldn't been too hampered by it. Overall, a great place to go. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this bar as we were in search of a good and casual happy hour. Hob knob is unlike the rest. My husband and I will definitely be back. Big stand outs on the happy hour menu are the mussels, deviled eggs (could have used less tomato jam but that's just me) and the mushroom pizza. I was a bit disappointed in the fish and chips option, as it was breaded not hand battered. The handmade bucatini pasta was delicious, as was the lobster salad. The snapper dish was pretty soupy - more sauce than expected. On a Saturday night, the live music was a great night cap. We went out for sushi on fith Ave and stopped at the hob know for an expresso martini and creme Brule. The check was $73 and I left a hundred dollar bill. When we went to leave the server was desperate to grab the check and reached through under a window from the other dining room. The 4 of us started walking down the street and the server started yelling at us from the door that we didn't pay our check! The cornbread was awful, super dry & flavorless. We started with arancini & that was the best thing we had there. I ordered snapper in crazy water. It was lacking salt & very bland. Tomatoes needed to be cooked down more. Hubby ordered lamb shank. It could've used a few more hours in the slow cooker. Parts were chewy. Again, lacking in salt. Have been here twice over the past couple of years. Consistent, solid solid experience. On this trip I had the Myer Lemon Short Ribs with lemon risotto + escarole + pine gremolata. Large enough portion to bring half of it home! The Local Organic Greens salad with dried cranberries + granny smith apple + candied pecans + blood orange vinaigrette was great as a starter. The owners have also opened Midtown Kitchen+Bar which has a lot of menu overlap, thus, if you are interested in this place I would look over that menu too (I have not been there) and choose which one might fit your desires more closely as there is enough of an overlap where you probably would not want to go to both places if you are just staying in the area for a short period of time. read more

Decided to check it HobNob for my boyfriends birthday while visiting Bonita springs. HobNob came highly recommended by a friend. We came in on Thursday night and the restaurant wasn't too busy. The decor is absolutely stunning. Modern but warm'! Jill greeted us and had us choose where to sit. She was attentive, knowledgeable, helpful, professional and very pleasant. Her service was TOPNOTCH!! With all sincerity she played a key role in the wonderful experience we had. Thank you Jill for your hard work and customer service! Really neat spot right off of 5th Avenue. We managed to snag a spot at the bar, where the bartender (Ian) and the host were extremely friendly. We got a cocktail and split a bottle of wine (reasonably priced) and split a few small plates. We split the octopus with white bean salad and mussels. Both were prepared AMAZINGLY. As soon as we arrived the gentleman (I believe the manager) escorted us to the table and was very professional and definitely ran a tight ship based on my observations. Our server Kim was great too! We ordered the scallop ceviche, artichoke small plate, beans and octopus and tuna nachos along with the special homemade pasta of the day. Everything was great but if I could do it all over again I would stick with two orders of the beans and octopus and two orders of the scallop ceviche. The tuna nachos were good but it was missing something. As between the two, 100% go with the scallop ceviche. On a separate note they have theme nights. Monday night was lobster night kind of pissed we missed out on that but definitely call ahead to find out their themes. It's worth planning your reservation around that.
