We had a great experience at Joey Newport Beach…read more First, the aesthetic of the restaurant is really cool. Loved the vibe and seating options. Beautiful. Great people watching. Fun. It was very crowded on a Sunday night around 6:00pm. We made reservations but arrived a little early so elected for a drink at the bar. Right in cue we spotted two stools open up so grabbed them. I didn't catch our bartenders name but she was very friendly and attentive. They all seamed happy and friendly. We ordered two Tito's dirty martinis and she served them properly. Super cold and to the rim. Perfect start. We loved sitting at the bar so cancelled our table reservation and ordered food. I ordered the Truffle Udon Carbonara* egg yolk, bacon, dashi truffle cream sauce. $27. So tasty. I would order again and again. My husband ordered skewer chicken with spicy rice. He loved it. We thought the restaurant was great. Easy to find parking or you can valet if you prefer, friendly staff and delicious food. We will make it a point at come back next time we are in town.

Brunch at Great Maple easily earns a spot in the upper tier of Newport Beach brunch destinations…read more The space feels effortlessly stylish -- bright, energetic, and polished without trying too hard. Even during peak brunch hours, the atmosphere stays lively rather than chaotic, which already puts it ahead of many popular spots in the area. We went straight for the Rib Eye Melt and the Steak & Eggs, and both were standout choices. The Rib Eye Melt was the star: tender, flavorful steak layered with perfectly melted cheese on crisp, buttery bread that balanced richness with texture. Every bite felt indulgent but well executed. The Steak & Eggs delivered exactly what you want from a classic done right -- a well-seasoned steak with a beautiful sear, cooked perfectly and paired with eggs that tied the plate together into a satisfying, no-frills brunch win. Service stayed attentive and efficient despite the crowd, and dishes came out paced perfectly. Great Maple understands elevated comfort food and executes it consistently well. Come hungry -- this is brunch that leans generous, satisfying, and absolutely worth the visit.

It was one of those experiences that got me yelping again…read more.. Excellent food. Ribeye hash did not disappoint, the boiled kale balanced out the meat and carbs nicely. The strawberry donuts were a great finish, amazing texture unlike any donut, almost a cross between a donut and bagel but better than both. So why the 3? From the moment we sat down the service was off. The server didn't bother to ask our side of the table what we wanted to drink, nor did he give us a menu til I asked. And when I asked for a water he responded, "You want another water?" I wasn't even given a water to begin with.

Warning: this place is busyyyyyyy…read more Came in on a Sunday morning and it was packed both inside and out. Even with that being true, we got our order fairly quickly and the person that took our order was kind and it was smooth. I had the orange top coffee (I believe it's new) and it was great, super fresh and it was perfect for the already hot morning. My husband had the strawberry matcha and he really enjoyed it as well.

Finally get to cross the famous KIT Coffee off my bucket list…read more While pricey, KIT Coffee sure is memorable. I visited on my birthday for a little caffeine boost, and their menu was easily a highlight of my day. KIT specializes in signature beverages and breakfast items. The barista recommended I try their horchata matcha, so I ordered this with oat milk. The drink was creamy and delicious. I was a little appalled by the $14 price tag on their garden avocado toast, but after receiving the dish, I'll admit that it's on the larger side. This thick slice of bread comes loaded with the most colorful fermented veggies. You'll notice variety of pickled seasonal vegetables, chives, and cherry tomatoes. Making this item the perfect balance of sweet to savory. Plus, great for photos! In comparison to other local coffee shops, KIT Coffee excels in their layout. There's enough seating for both large and small groups, making it an awesome spot to meet with friends, coworkers, fellow students, etc.

This place is AWESOME!!…read more Food: My son got the chicken and waffles but they were so nice that they did chicken strips instead of what they usually do which is chicken breast. My husband also got the chicken and waffles but he got the chicken breasts. I got the pesto pasta and they were running a special where the pasta was half off and half the portion which was perfect for me. Our drinks were also delicious - we got nonalcoholic drinks. Service: Our waitress did an awesome job! She took great care of us! Ambiance: They had a live musician, he was great! They also had the games on and as soon as you walk in and on the way to your seats the host asked us which game we wanted to watch and we told her and she sat us where we had the perfect view of the game! Thank you, Mama's! We will definitely be back!!

It went well as dessert after my dish. I got the breakfast sourdough melt which was also delicious, crunchy, and very filling! Definitely good enough to share as well! One could say it's an average American breakfast diner, but my daughter got a kids dish (not pictured) that included 1 pancake, scrambled eggs, and a sausage, and she practically finished it! Either she was really hungry, or she thought the food was good! (She never eats that much). Overall, great place for breakfast/brunch!

I really enjoyed our date night at this sushi restaurant! Overall I felt like the sushi was…read morehigh-quality and had a lot of unique flavors that kept things fresh and exciting. You won't find your typical rainbow rolls at this restaurant (I do love a good rainbow roll though). The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It definitely was a cool effect and I've never seen anything like it in a sushi restaurant! Lastly, the Are You Kidding Me roll - this was my third favorite out of the three we ordered. It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. I'm also personally not a huge fan of fried onions on top of sushi since I think it clashes a bit with the freshness of the fish, and gives me too many bar food vibes. But it certainly was flavorful and my husband and I still finished it. We shared these three sushi rolls between the two of us and it was just the right amount of food to leave feeling full. Besides the food, the restaurant itself was nice although I'm not sure they really needed to have a live DJ there as opposed to having a Spotify Playlist. Didn't bother me but I don't think it really added much to the vibe. I would definitely eat here again!

Celebrated our anniversary !…read more Service was good and friendly. The flavors were beautiful! We sat like in the center of the restaurant. It's one of my fear LOL. But the flavors of the dishes eased my fear. It was delicious. I love salmon and uni when it comes to sushi and I would recommend others to try this place! Several people already saw my instagram post and asked the name of the restaurant! I'm very happy that the food turned out phenomenal! Toyko nacho (recommend) : it was messy to eat and had a kick of spice. I didn't mind the mess though. Lots of different flavors. Uni hotate yuzu: scallops topped with uni. Eating it was like butter. Sour flavor profile from the yuzu. A bit overpowering. And the maldon sea salt was interesting. So you get the texture of buttery soft from the scallop and uni and a crunch factor from the salt. 5pc Salmon nigiri: so fatty and buttery! If you love salmon then definitely get this. The presentation was so cute. It lays on a bed of ice. And throughout the dinner the pieces of salmon were chilled. Monster nigiri (recommend) : I don't think anything about this when my honey suggested order this. But once it got to the table and we ate it. Wow! This dish flavors stood out to me. The crispy sweet onions and sauce perfected the meal. Dragon: It was pretty tasty and decent. I know my honey liked it a lot. He prefers not to eat raw fish, so this was to his liking (I recommend to those who don't eat raw fish). Truffle essence (recommend) : The taste of truffle is weirdly addicting. The presentation was eye catching because the candle is keeping the truffle butter warm. The concept of dipping or pouring the truffle butter onto the roll was a fun way of eating. Snowflake roll: A lot of reviews mentioned this was a popular dish. I can see why it was popular. It's literally a bunch of fish in a roll! Haha, fish lover this would be perfect to order. Crunchy roll: It was a decent roll, but a bit dryer than I expected. Orders and ratings: Tokyo nacho 9/10. Uni hotate yuzu 10/10. 5pc Salmon nigiri 10/10. Monster 11/10. Dragon 8/10. Truffle essence 9/10. Snowflake roll 10/10. Crunchy roll 6/10. Thank you!
