Went here on a Saturday for lunch around 12pm. Busy but not really super busy. Not as many food spots as I thought there would be since I was expecting rodeo/Long Beach hangar vibes. Lots of tables and chairs though. Jenga, corn hole and some other activities outside. Air hockey inside. It was a bit broken down but still playable. Tip: just park at the dog park and walk over. If not, it's 90 mins free validated. I paid $1.50 for 1 hour and 43 mins, so not sure if it's just $1.50/hr after the 90 mins. read more

There are a lot of empty spaces. Most of the good places have pulled out. I think their parking system is the main reason. You get 90 minutes free with validation. When you enter you go to a kiosk and enter your license number. When you leave the arm will open unless you stayed to long then you have to pay. Got around to trying this spot after passing by it almost all of the time! I came here with my friend for lunch on a weekday, and it kind of resembles what I would expect a corporate cafeteria/food court would look like. It's located right next to some corporate offices. This food court probably had about 8-10 different options, with various cuisines like Asian, Mexican, Mediterranean, etc. They even have a bar in the center! There's plenty of seating inside of the hall, and a lot of covered seating outside towards the front and the back. You can park in the structure, or by the park and walk over. Came here on a Saturday around 2pm. This place has a mediterranian grill, a sushi place, a taco place, a pasta place, a hawaiian bbq place, a bar, a burger place, and a small cafe. I think 2 spots are still empty. There was an event (Soul Real Market) happening starting at 3pm. I saw that this was a food hall and so I came early to try and eat some food before the event. There are a lot of seating both inside and outside. However, since it's so hot nowadays, most of the customers were inside. I tried the hawaiian bbq place. They were on break until 2:30pm, so I waited until then and ordered my food. Parking was weird. There was parking for right in front of the Mess Hall, which was paid, but there was also parking towards the further office buildings for free (near the Tesla chargers). read more

This is actually my 2nd time at this place. A first in a very long time. This concept is very interesting and cool. I tried the sushi, and it's good, but not spectacular. Very clean tables and overall setting. The only thing that's really disappointing is the parking. You get 90 minutes with validation, but after that, you'll have to pay! I parked away from that area, so I didn't have to pay. I spent a total of 2-3 hours at this establishment. Nice bar and the few restaurants they offered. I'll probably go back in a year or more. Came here because I had a coupon for Tasty Hawaiian BBQ. It is another food hall and the layout reminds me of the LBX food hall but smaller? I drove into this huge complex with what looked like modern, workspace buildings or campuses. What sets this apart from other food halls is there's plenty of seating both in and outside, and there's a huge trail outside. Not a trail with steep inclines, but a walk/run friendly trail. There's also a BBQ grill island around back with sinks...similar to the newer high rise apartment set-ups. The only thing this place is missing is a pool (or is there one there that I didn't notice?). I visited on a Friday afternoon after work and there was plenty of parking available and I was able to park up front. I'm a fan of Lost Bean coffee so if I'm in the area I'm definitely stopping by there next time. Would I go out of my way to go here? No. But it's definitely a great place to meet up with friends that have kids as there's plenty of outdoor seating in a park like atmosphere and if you have a dog they can come too. Great place for families to meet up for an informal lunch or dinner and go for a walk or just run around outside. Lots of fun restaurants that turn over frequently so you won't get bored. Plenty of selections to choose from and a bar in the center of it all. I heard this was built as a food court for the employees who work at Virgin. Bathrooms are outside the food hall to the right of the building. They have various games available to play, ping pong, basketball shooting game, etc. it seems that these too frequently turn over. Either be a the games get broken from rough use or boredom prevention. On weekends, parking is free and they often have events like classic car show, or plant shares. There's a little bit of something for everyone and there are communal tables and areas to play. It was easy for me to find parking. The interior is modern with vaulted ceilings, ample natural light and an industrial feel. There are outdoor dining spaces and lounge areas as well. The bad: They're closed Sundays and Mondays they close early at 2PM. I love this place and really hope it continues to succeed. The seating is vast and fun! Tons of choices indoors and outdoors. They even have some ping pong tables. I've had the fried chicken place (Fowl Play), which is a solid choice (they warn you it's made to order so will take some time). The Mexican place (Fonda Moderna) has some tasty premium tacos, burritos, etc. My only suggestion would be for the Bar to ease up on their music volume.... It's obnoxiously loud and you really can't hold a conversation indoors once the lights go down and the music turns up. Super fun place with plenty of options! Met up with friends for drinks and food to catch up. The mess hall is modeled like a cafeteria with plenty of food options, a stand alone full service bar and various tables placed in the middle. Seat wherever you like and I enjoyed the diversity in food. However, the evening I came (a weekday), a good chunk of the restaurants were closed. The stalls that were open were Sushiya, The Little Greek, Fonda Moderna, Slapfish and I think Vaka Burger. I decided to go to The Little Greek and got myself the Falafel pita. Came with a Mediterranean slaw, which was a nice touch for crunch. The falafel was wonderful! Very filling and was quite generous with the tzatziki sauce and chopped tomatoes. Also grabbed a classic margarita at the Drink Bar. Bartender asked if I wanted salt rim or tajin. Not a huge fan of salt, but the tajin was a nice alternative! Drinks are stiff and packed quite a punch. Total was $12. Overall experience, was fun to explore so many options and I like that you could grab various snacks from different vendors if you plan to be there for quite some time. Parking can be a little confusing, but you can choose the parking structure or the various lots surrounding the area. No frills here, just a place to enjoy lunch by yourself while reading a book or with co-workers during the company lunch hour. It's a quiet place to relax and enjoy a variety of restaurants offering a decent selection of food that's catered to the lunch menu for the most part. On a nice day, which is most of the time the patio seating is a must. During our stay, the parking situation was free despite seeing a ticket booth gate as you enter the parking lot. Although, this was during the weekday. Not sure about the weekends but I would imagine that this market wouldn't get as much foot traffic. read more

Mess Hall feels like the Dubai of the OC: postmodern, pricey, and surrounded by white elephant real estate. Very relaxing if you're not in a rush, but also seems to be designed to be as boring as possible. Currently there's only 1 office out of the 5 buildings that look like there's anyone around, so there's no crowds at the moment. But the food court itself is nice with every place occupied...except half of the restaurants aren't open during dinner time even without COVID. I only heard about this spot recently and was surprised at how empty it was. I was there during dinner time for 20 minutes, it was JUST ME AND THE EMPLOYEES in the building the entire time. So I have a few suggestions to make. 1. Some unique vendors, but also some that have other locations which make this place less attractive because Mess Hall is so far out of the way. For example, there's a collection of restaurants in Santa Barbara in a former industrial warehouse zone turned into a hipster spot with lots of unique breweries and local food places. This place just doesn't have that. 2. Marketing is legitimately awful. I thought this place was a museum. Turns out it was a food court. I only heard about this place as a food court a few days ago and didn't know they had parking that rivaled The District. Mess Hall probably needs more things to do before letter bombing every household in Tustin, and it's going to be rough getting foot traffic until the offices can get filled. 3. Cater to a specific group: Maybe this place was designed by committee, but this place need to target exclusively, ie. target office workers, hipsters, or families for demographic appeal when picking the vendors. Right now I feel like it appeals to everyone but it feels lacking for all of them. For example: there's a bar, but it doesn't feel like that because the wine dispensary looks like a toy. Or if you're appealing to family friendly establishments, but the music from the bar is WAY too loud and can be heard from the whole place. My point is the place has everything but is missing something, whether it's for office workers, families, or hipsters. 4. Currently parking is free but honestly how are you going to charge for parking in the future when businesses here are probably going to need every customer they get? Aight, I ranted enough on this place. Cool spot to do...nothing but eat some slightly overpriced food and limited options. Outdoor seating is plentiful though. It's not TRADE or the Packing House yet, but I did get Vaka because I liked that option the most. We'll see if this place improves in the future. read more

I visited this place on a weekday for happy hour. When I arrived in the late afternoon, the hanger was quite empty, except for the bat area. It's a fast food court setting and to my surprise, most of the stands were closed. However, we were able to order food from the Greek stand, the taqueria stand, and the hot dog stand. Unfortunately, the pizza stand and the coffee stand were closed. Although I heard that the pizza place is good, it's hardly ever open. The prices here are higher compared to other places, and the portions are quite small. I don't think I'll be coming back for happy hour again because I got food poisoning and felt sick the next morning. I don't usually get sick from food, so I know it's something I ate here. The more I think about this place, the more I wonder how often they use up their groceries. If there are very few customers that eat here daily, the ingredients might go bad, which could have caused me to get sick. I don't think I can trust this place anymore. read more

I went to the mess hall in Tustin and it did not go well. First Sushiya I ordered a caterpillar roll for $13.00. When my food was ready I saw a basic California roll that was $5.00! I told the guy that I got a caterpillar roll and he said that I would need to pay for another roll! So I kept the basic roll and now giving him a bad review. Do not go to Sushiya. You will thank me.Then my friend went to the pasta place, Pastaphony and she ordered no chicken and got chicken. This pasta also took 40 minutes! I actually found this food hall while passing by. Apparently a lot of these shops have been open four months, and Yelp didn't even let me know about it! I hope it gains traction; it has a lot of potential yet was super dead when I went to check it out. First thing is, it's pretty small. It looks like it's supposed to be the building on the corner, but it's not. It's the short building between two tall empty ones. The parking lot is super small for as much as this corner is being built up; you can tell they anticipate lots of crowds by all the seating. There's even a bbq outside and a potential bar area. Inside, the options are quite diversified. Coffee, burgers, pho, fish, a full bar, fried chicken... basically something for everyone. Nothing I would rush back for, but a good option to have if I don't end up at Tustin Marketplace, the District, or Anaheim Packing. The people working there looked bored! Wow. The reviews here are not the best, and I don't really understand. It's one of the nicer cafeteria/mess halls I've been to in the OC and it's basically free. You can just come here, set up your laptop and get to work. There's a lot seating here and even during the lunch rush, there was still plenty of space both indoor and outdoor. The outdoor patio is great and offers plenty of shaded snacking spots. There are eight food venues to eat here not including the coffee shop and the bar. My fav so far is the Taqueria, but I'll save that review for another time. The parking is only draw back. It's can be pretty tight, but I believe you can park in the garage that's across the road. Don't quote me on that. A few tips; it's basically empty in the morning and right after the lunch rush. So try to time it right. Be prepared to spend a little extra on food. This new food hall is located in the new "Flight" complex, just down the street from the Tustin District. The tenants for the office complexes have not moved in, and most of the buildings are still under construction. So, the benefit of coming is that it's still a hidden gem. The downside is that its a bit depressing, since the food hall was a ghost town when I went. I stopped mid week around 6:00. The food hall (ie: glamorous food court) had a handful of people. most of the patrons were either drinking from the bar, or studying with their laptops open. Prices are a bit high, even for a food hall. I'm guessing the rent at the Mess Hall isn't cheap. Too bad there's no companies opened to generate more revenue. Hopefully there will be more tenants to drive in customers. 4 stars because of the ample space, indoor / outdoor seating, and good selection of food and spirits. read more
