Mark Hoadley was our general contractor for a full bathroom and kitchen remodel, along with several other upgrades for our house. This was a big project, and even with the addition of multiple change orders, everything was handled with thoughtfulness, quality work, and professionalism. I appreciate Mark's proactiveness on communication, he was always willing to provide any information and advice regarding our concerns. He is also very reliable and worked closely with us to ensure that everything was done to our satisfaction. He and his crew are quality workers and good people! Our home is now modern, beautiful, and a huge step up from what it once was. It was a stressful experience, but Mark made it a worthwhile one, I highly recommend him! read more

Terrible contractor. Had the guy put in a new roof for me, he instead subcontracted out the work to a deadbeat roofer who cuts corners everywhere he can. My "new" roof leaked everytime it rains. Had to take Hoadley construction to court in the end. Hoadley left threatening messages on my answering machine when I threaten law suit. And when he couldn't get his roofer to come over to fix a leaky roof, he said "I couldn't locate Kurt. He is high on cocaine somewhere." If you decide to use Hoadley, make sure you document everything and every conversation with him. Just in case you have a problem in the future. There is a reason why his prices are low. The quality of people he hires to do the work is questionable. Use Hoadley at your own risk. read more

Finding a professional and reliable contractor to remodel our ENTIRE house seemed like a terrifying task. I was dreading the process because of the difficulty that friends and family had with other contractors and with a previous contractor we had 20 years ago. I'm definitely glad I found Mark and his crew. He was not only anxious to get my business, but followed through, showed up on time, kept me informed along the way and was very neat. Customer satisfaction is most important even before getting paid. Mark effectively communicated our options based on our needs and was able to start construction quickly. We hired Hoadley Construction to remodel our two bathrooms; master and guest. They just finished and we LOVE LOVE LOVE the work they did!!! Yes, we found them on yelp. Despite of other reviews, we decided to hire them because we appreciated the honesty and the timeframe they promised us. We are expecting our first child and it was important for us to prepare these bathrooms before due date. We wanted the (1st project) master bathroom done before the baby shower. Not only did they finish with QUALITY craftsmanship, they finished on time. Our guests were in awe of the newly constructed bathroom! They kept saying how luxury and beautiful it was. The second project, guest bathroom was just completed and we LOVE the way it was done. We look forward to our guests using it. Before, it was gross with an early 80s look. We appreciate Mark Hoadley very much. He was straightforward on pricing even on things that popped up, no major hidden costs after initial estimate, no stupid gimmicks on optional pricing on features that was discussed in the overall estimate (we had one contractor nickeling and diming every feature we wanted. Whatever. No name there but they are on yelp with surprisingly decent rating). Unforeseen things will pop up during construction and I believe Mark treated it fair and with transparency. The guys treated our home and me (8 months + pregnant) with respect. We trusted them them along the way and had daily communication on the progress, needs and expectations of both bathrooms. We hear of horror stories of remodeling but our experience was pleasant and smooth. Thanks to Hoadley Construction on the honesty, quality craftsmanship, promise timeline, communication, and professionalism. We highly recommend and endorse Hoadley Construction. Mark Hoadley was the general contractor for an extensive home remodel which included a closet and bathroom addition, full kitchen and bath remodel, and air conditioning among numerous other . Overall, I'd recommend him again, since he was the best that I could find, with very affordable pricing. Even so, there are some caveats to mention. First, I'd make sure you need general contractor for your project. The majority of the work (framing, electrical, plumbing, tilework, painting) was delegated to a 3 person team. In many cases, this is all you need, and you can work with such a team directly for your project. For a project of our size, we needed someone like Mark, and he fulfilled his role well. Pros: - Knowledgeable and competent. - Affordable. Gave us the best overall price on the work, and provided for several items at cost during the project. Overall, costs were very reasonable, though there was one instance where I saved considerable money by hiring a separate contractor for a small portion of the work. - A good communicator. Responds well to email and text messages. Language is clear and precise. Even so, I recommend giving important instructions by email, since they are easier to retrieve and reference. - Flexible. Accommodated multiple change orders and detailed requests throughout the project. Was cooperative in finding mutually beneficial solutions to nuanced design and construction challenges. - Transparent. Mark allowed me to work directly with his subcontractors to give instructions on specific details. This freedom allowed the project to run much smoother. - Honors his word. If a mistake is made by him or one of his workers, he takes care of it. - Access to a wide variety of professional contractors and suppliers. Cons: - Oversight needed. Its generally a good idea to inspect the progress of your project on a daily basis, regardless of contractor. I found this necessary, as I regularly uncovered errors or mistakes that needed to be corrected. Sometimes clear instructions (given months prior) were not followed, including items that made it into the permitted plans. Even so, Mark was there often to inspect the work, and I'm sure he took care of plenty of other issues without my involvement. When rework was necessary, it was handled professionally. - Occasional quality concerns. Overall the work was high quality (framing, electrical and roofing come to mind), but some of his subcontractors disappointed. Its hard to argue with the prices, but sometimes, you get what you pay for. - Schedule. We initiated several change orders from the baseline proposal. Even with this in mind, the project finished about 1 month later than I would expect. The project got off to a slow start (he was reluctant to start significant work without approved permits, even though there was plenty of non-permitted work to be done). He also made arrangements with one 3-man crew for the majority of the work, so we were at the mercy of their working pace. Construction projects and remodels notoriously run late, so unfortunately for us, this was not an exception. read more

Mark and his team repaired my sloping floor in my kitchen, remodeled one of my bathrooms, and installed new cabinets in the bathrooms. Mark and his team were professional, efficient, and proficient. Mark and his team did a great job and I would definitely hire him again for any future projects. I found Hoadley Constructions on HomeAdvisor.com as well, when searching for a contractor. We have a lot of wood damaged due to termites at our 35 Unit apartment in El Segundo. He came out, took a look and gave us the best price that he can to get the work done for us. Mark and his team did an overall great job on all the wood work in a professional manner. Very reliable, especially when you need to contact him either through phone or email, Mark will answer you ASAP, so you don't have to wonder what him and his team are at in the percentage of completing the work. He completed his work when he said he would and that's a plus, because you don't want to keep waiting and having the job prolonged even further than the expected finish date. I used Mark Hoadley for a remodel project right before this past summer. We had him build a custom staircase to access a loft and build out a new closet. Overall the experience of working with Mark was very positive. The quality of work was well done and we are enjoying the renovations VERY much. Mark Hoadley came in after 2/3 contractors were not delivering on our home remodel. The project originally started in my 2nd trimester of pregnancy with a promised date of completion from previous contractor before my due date. After my child was born the remodel project was still in its beginning stages. Frustrated, Mark came in and took control of the project. He was professional and delivered on his completion date. Mark Hoadley redid our shower and the outcome was gorgeous! SO Much better than what we had. They finished the job in the time frame they said. They were diligent, attentive and very clean! We loved the workers who were at our house and Mark took care of our every need. He listened to our questions and concerned and addressed them right away. He was available to us after hours as well to take care of a couple emergencies that came up! He was very professional, organized and great to work with.
